The staff were wonderful throughout my stay. However, I was assigned to a room on the smoking floor. The roomI stayed in had extremely strong cigarette odors, which was uncomfortable. I wore a N95 mask and turn on the air filter in the room to fall asleep the on the first night there. Luckily, the staff did a great job sanitizing the hallway and my room, so the second day was far better

Near enough yet far enough

Great location since it’s walking distance to the Nagoya station but offers the right distance away from the hustle and bustle. Staff were friendly & accommodating. Breakfast decent. Lacks a driveway for proper ingress & egress but overall it was a very good stay! Kudos and thank you!

We spent several days at this property while in Nagoya and have only very good things to say. Yes, location is very convenient, a few minutes on foot from the main train station, with many dining options. Yes, room was spotless and quiet, and housekeeping was flawless. Yes, breakfast had many choices (Asian and Western) and breakfast service was impeccable.
Service however was where the hotel and its staff shine. Hotel service was exceptional. Every staff member I encountered, from the front desk to housekeeping, was friendly and professional, always ready to help with anything I needed, whether it was providing local recommendations, solving problems (I had left an item at the hotel and they were able to get it back to me hundreds of miles away) or simply greeting me with a smile each day. A warm thank you to the front desk and all the staff.

Newish hotel in the convenient walkable area. You can walk to Nagoya station- Shinkansen, JR, Kintetsu, Bus to Shirakawa-hi, Takayama or Kanazawa. Room is stylish and has enough electric and usb ( both A and C) outlets close to the bed. My room had a desk, fridge, water boiler, safe. Shower room had a speaker from the TV. You can get amenities ( tea bags etc) from the 1 st floor. There was no coffee makers nor coffee amenities at the amenity area on the 1 st floor. You can get coffee in the morning using welcome drink coupon from the 1 st floor restaurant. The older man at the coffee area was grumpy and rather rude. But all front staff were nice. I recommend buying coffee at Lawson convenience store across the street.

Positive : The hotel propose large rooms for a fair price.
Negative :
- Into 2 weeks in the hotel, my room has never seen the vacuum cleaner
- Breakfast is supposed to be till 10am, but in reality between 9:15 and 09:30, they start to remove the food ! Not a lot of choice for the food proposed and really cheap food. Far from the normal japanese standart, considering the price requested of the breakfast.

Clean and functional and room size spacious for Japanese hotel. Somewhat dated. Didn’t try the restaurants as seem quite pricey compared to what you get outside. Very disappointed the gym is open only in the afternoons, has to be reserved and incurs a few.

The hotel is really old. The rooms are outdated and not cleaned well. The hallways smell like cigarettes even in non-smoking floors. We were supposed to stay here for 4 days and left after the first night. We found another hotel a walk away and it was clean, brand new and even cheaper than this place.

Attentive and very helpful personal, but the facilities are tired and the overall property design unattractive. Breakfast is scant and frankly depressing. This is a shame as the property is ideally located within walking distance of the Nagoya station, which is central in anything you will do in and from Nagoya.

The staff is friendly and made me feel warm coming back each time after spending a day outside.
Imrovement could be made on request for additional sleeping pillow, I didn't granted even though I requested for an additional pillow.
Plus how come there is only a bottle of mineral water even though there are 2 guests? I am ok with one but just don't get it why.

Warm stay at Nagoya in a winter!!

Mercure Nagoya Cypress is located on a very convenient spot. 2-min walk to the subway station and 5-min walk to JR station and Gate Walk and Gate Tower where you can find countless shops and eateries. Right opposition you can find a 24-hour Lawson.
Stepping in the hotel you would be warmly welcomed at the front desk by the staff, with full smiles on the face, who can communicate in English without any problem. Parking is available. Perfect!

Get room ready before checking in

The hotel is just at the centre of Nagoya. We like it, the room are great with two big widow and the view is fantastic. The service is nice and we will choose it next time we visiting. Just our frige dose not work and it took about half an hour to replace. We hope the hotel can check it before customer check in. Because every travel minutes are valuable.

We went when the weather was hot! The hotel is very conveniently located near the train station, the staff was super, they spoke english very well. We had breakfast buffet there one morning, the food was good, they do not have decaf coffee, but everything else was great! If we get to come back to Nagoya, we will definitely stay here again.

Hotel is a bit old and warn and not very big. Room was fairly big compared to Japanese size room. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom had what was needed, but nothing fantastic.
It is located close to Nagoya station.
I did not try the bar or restaurant, but it looked very nice.

Spacious room (relatively big as Japan hotels’s room are usually very small). Great location, less than 10 mins walk from Nagoya station. Very helpful staff ( they helped me book some local restaurant with a lot of email back and forth, very patient!). Only 2 things I can criticize on are 1. The housekeeper will just throw you clothes on the chair when they make up the bed, usually the hotels I been to the housekeeper will fold you clothes nicely and place them back on the bed; 2. The bed is very low and not too comfy, my back hurt a little after the third night sleep. But overall great hotel with this price range.

Convenient and clean hotel

The location is convenient and accessible to Nagoya station. The room is spacious and they provided memory form bedding which is very comfortable. The front desk was very helpful during our checkin and we were given welcome drinks.

The walk to the train station is less than 10 minutes. They had clean, spacious modern western rooms. The room was almost twice the size as the place that I rented in Akihabara. Very friendly staff and they provided me with a free breakfast and drink coupon.

The hotel was clean, the room was larger than expected at this price point, and was comfortable for two large suitcases, and working at the desk. The bed, as typical in Japan was quite firm, though not as firm as the beds in Taiwan typically are. The Nagoya station is two blocks away, be sure to exit on the correct side of the station (the side with the spiral sculpture in the center of a round-about.) Then turn left, and turn right at the first road right, it will be on the left at the next cross-road. The Toyota Museum is just up the street is worth a whole day visit for anyone who likes man-made things.

The hotel is not far from Nagoya station, so that is convenient. Not much around the neighborhood, but I was there on business so it did not matter. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Room was remarkably spacious and comfortable. Nice big bathroom. As one other person noted, the beds are a little hard, but no big deal.

The room was modern, clean and comfortable.

The staff were very helpful and attentive.

My only criticism would be the free WiFi internet, while free unless early morning/late night it was unusable due to connection speed issues. We did not face this at other hotels.

Prime location for Nagoya

This hotel is situated at the heart of Nagoya, 3min walk to JR Nagoya station and the main shopping centre. And a Lawson convinient store next to the hotel. The rate is reasonable, clean and the staffs were friendly. Will stay again when I go to Nagoya next time.

Cost was on the pricey side, but location is convenient for Nagoya Jr Station. Book in at 2pm means 2pm but they did look after luggage beforehand. Room was fine, bed confortable, A/C worked fine. Breakfast included a wide range of buffet items.

We were looking for a decently-priced hotel near to the Nagoya Station at the start of our vacation in Japan. The room was fine (the bed was super-hard, but I think that is true of most hotels in Japan). The best part was the really nice staff - we were looking for a place to get a light dinner and the hotel staffer didn't just give us directions - he walked us down the street to the restaurant to make sure we would find it (and it was a good recommendation too!) Next day, we were handed umbrellas before we headed back out to the train station.

Excellent hotel in boring location

The hotel itself was excellent except you have to pay for Internet whereas a lot of other hotels provide Internet free of charge. That bothered us to pay >¥1000/night to get online. The location was easy to find from the station & the hotel very comfortable, big room, big bed & a large bathroom by Japanese standards. The only reason we would not recommend this hotel to a friend is the location - its not close to any shopping or restaurant strips, but if you have to stay in Nagoya for business then it's an excellent choice, especially so close to the Nagoya JR Shinkansen & local subway station.

Gone downhill; Over-priced; Hard beds

I stayed at this hotel two years ago when it was a Sofitel. It is an easy walk from the train station. It has now changed and is a Mercure, which is a group which includes Sofitel, Novotel, etc. I did not think this would matter much, but I am sorry to say that it really does. The main difference is the mattress. The bed was hard-- kind of a thin mattress on a board. I could not sleep. I asked about a softer mattress; I was shown a room where the mattress was only slightly better, but they would charge me quite a bit more for an \"upgrade.\" I already felt I was being overcharged (especially as compared with my earlier stays). The check in person was efficient but cold whereas the earlier staff had been very friendly and gracious. Breakfast was not included, whereas last time they had a great buffet. Last, the coffee in the room was not complimentary, was over-priced and marginally drinkable. What a change and what a disappointment. We will have to find a different hotel for our Nagoya stays.

以前から利用しています。コンパクトなエントランスとフロント、しかし、お部屋はゆったりで小洒落たホテルです。
が、お風呂のメジにカビが出ています。まだカビキラーで落とせる状態なので早めに対策してください。

なお、禁煙で予約したつもりが、ホテル一任になっていて喫煙ルームに通されましたが、幸い禁煙が空いていて変更してもらいました。

A great stay

I love this hotel, even it is a bit aged in the lobby.

Location is super good that you can walk by few minutes to one of the exits of subway, or even the Nagoya Station via the underground street.

What impressed me is the hotel provides non-plastic daily products, which upgrade the class of your living.

With a big window in the room, you can enjoy the street view of Nagoya city area.

Staff are super friendly as the Japanese always does.

I really enjoyed my stay in this hotel. I will definitely stay again for next time.

名古屋駅から程近いのでホテルの駐車場に車を入れてから夕食に徒歩で出掛けられるので、お酒も気兼ねなく飲めて良かった。
ツインの部屋に泊まったが、小学3年生の娘と夫婦で十分な広さで快適に過ごせた。
駐車場は別途¥1,500で24時間何度でも出し入れ自由。ただし機械式駐車場で、入出庫時にホテルフロントスタッフに対応したもらう必要があり、何度も出し入れするのは少々面倒。

名古屋の地理に不案内なため、空港連絡バス停留所から徒歩10分歩きました。子ども連れや高齢者はタクシー移動の方が良いと思います。
部屋に入り空調が入っていなかったためか、浴室の臭いが少し気になりました。

今回初めて利用いたしました。
駅から近かったのですが、静かな環境だったかと思います。
朝食は、ラストオーダー時間少し前に行ったため、急いでの食事になってしまいましたがとても美味しかったです。もっと早く起きれば良かったと心残りでしたが、次回また利用したいと思いました。
スタッフさんもホテルマンらしく素晴らしいと思います。
