This property smelled of mould, musty and dampness. Clearly there is a major water issue. Also when checking in they wanted to take a “bond” of $2k (6 night stay) for the mini bar which maybe had a total of $100 of drinks and snacks in it. The lady checking us in was incredibly rude. Offered us an “upgrade” for more than double what we had originally paid for the accommodation. The whole experience was extremely off putting and we won’t be back.

The hotel is well maintained in a great neighborhood close to the train and shopping but for a Marriot, US Corporate, they are not up to par with making things easy for English speaking customers, they try for sure but some people don’t have the patience. I stayed at a lot of W across the globe and love their breakfast, this one again not focused at all on the North America clients, if you love a good Chinese breakfast I am sure it is delicious but I was not impressed as a Westerner

My stay at the W Hotel was nothing short of wonderful. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, beautifully designed, and located in a prime area surrounded by fantastic restaurants and a great mall, making it incredibly convenient for dining and shopping.

From the moment I arrived, the staff was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely attentive every single day. A special shout-out to Clark, who went above and beyond to help my friend who had accidentally arrived at the wrong airport. His kindness and professionalism truly made a stressful situation so much easier — we are incredibly grateful!

The food was absolutely delicious, and the live music added such a fun and vibrant atmosphere to our evenings. Every meal felt special, and every detail was thoughtfully handled.

Overall, the W Hotel exceeded all expectations. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a luxurious, comfortable, and memorable experience. I can’t wait to return next year!

The room smells horrible, and the room is dirty and sticky on the floor. Our whole family after shower got eye infection immediately, the shower head must be contaminated. The staffs are very confused, so the check in process is very messy. Cant believe this for a 5 star hotel

What truly set this hotel apart was the **incredible staff**, who went above and beyond to make my stay memorable. A special shout-out to **Clark**, who was an absolute hero during my visit. When I accidentally left my phone in a taxi, Clark sprang into action, coordinating with the driver and ensuring its safe return. His professionalism, kindness, and dedication were truly outstanding.

Beyond that, every interaction with the team was warm and welcoming, from the front desk to the restaurant staff. The dining options were fantastic, and the overall atmosphere was both chic and comfortable.

My stay at the W was disappointing and fell far below expectations. Upon arrival, we checked in and we were given a room with a strong cigarette odor, though staff promptly moved us after we complained. The hotel’s eclectic design—an odd mix of modern and traditional—was poorly executed, with dim lighting throughout, except in the breakfast area. Several areas, including hallways and the elevator, showed signs of neglect, such as peeling walls. The elevator featured a bizarre video of painted lips synced to sensual music, creating an uncomfortable, brothel-like atmosphere.

The breakfast was subpar, offering limited options, and hygiene was a concern—a staff member sneezed openly near the food. One night, I found a dying cockroach in the bathroom, and although cleaners had serviced the room by the time we returned the next day, the insect remained until I reported it again. Housekeeping was generally lazy, failing to remove room service leftovers or properly dust. The bathtub and fixtures were also in poor condition. Overall, the experience did not match the price point and left much to be desired.

We loved our stay at the W Guangzhou so much that I think we’ll stay at W locations wherever we go from now on. The tech touches in the room especially wowed my 4-year-old, from heated toilet seats to TVs in the bathtub. The design of the hotel is sleek and luxurious. We loved the indoor heated pool, the bedding, and even the elevator ride. Breakfast was spectacular with so many offerings, including a custom juice bar. Plus the location is super convenient within easy access of tourist attractions as well as shopping and cafes. Only downside was that room service was overpriced as well as the spa services. I would’ve loved a massage but couldn’t bring myself to spend so much $$$ when cheaper options are just outside. Still would stay again.

The air conditioning is unable to adjust and stay at 20 degree C the lowest. I was told by the hotel's mechanic guy that all the room's AC stays at 20 degree C, unbelievable, summer time in Guangzhou and I cannot adjust my room temperature. good job W hotel.

The staff at W Guangzhou were polite, pro-active, friendly and efficient. Very much enjoyed the complimentary buffet breakfast offered. Stylist decorartions and in-room design and a comfortable sofa chair.
Just a bit of hissing noise in the room. People smoking in the WooBar was a bit disturbing.
Other than those, a satisfactory stay overall.

Worth The Wait as Sienna Wang assistant Welcome Office Manager personally brought us to the Executive Club Lounge to Check in and with her above and beyond service together with Aimee Lu and Jessie Lin at the 26th Floor had made our stay at your Prestige hotel a Very Memorable one. Specially mention also Amanda So from Kitchen Table on the 2nd Floor made my morning breakfast a very pleasant feeling all the time with very courteous and well mannered service

Fei bar on 2nd floor plays good music and is more like a club, while the lobby bar is very nice to sit for a more relaxed drink but you still have music, as with all Ws.

Only gripe is reception queueing as they have 4 separate desks around a circular core so you end up trying to swivel round to work out which desk to queue at to get served first and invariably miss out to someone else which is a bit odd.

Lounge Server is Rude, Terrible to deal with, and bring me and my friend a extremely HOT still bottle water! I dun remember her name but my section was near the ladies toilet, around 10pm and I get ignored for most of my time with my hand held up for service until other servers saw my hand then that terrible server was forced to get me my services up until the point when i paid. I think her attitude towards her work was quite negative. I hope W Guangzhou can improve their F&B services.

Check-in was very fast and our room was ready when we arrived, if you are going to the canton fair I recommend to stay in this hotel they have shuttles going in the morning and shuttles to bring you back

Hotel is ust right round the corner from a series of bars. Restaurants also open till late for supper. Fei club at the W hotel itself played good music, especially with the live band. However, it still permitted clubbers to smoke in the club which was probably the only negative point.

Bad customer service and management

I booked hotel beforehand, but on the our flight got issue and we change to next day. I contact them immediately. Hotel asked the delay certificate for refund. The flight company send me the next day, and I forward to them. I have been told no refund or even rechedule to another day. I am so disappointed with their poor management. Especially this is unexpected accident. Hotel should help me to solve the problem rather than copy and pasted their policy to me. I didnot argue with them anymore, but will never choose to stay with them. Not recommend to other people, just in case something happened and you can not control, this hotel will only grab the money and not help at all.

The hotel is great in that the room is nice, the restaurant is good, and the staff are great. The only suggestion I would make is they seriously need to change the location and the color of the hotel room numbers (they are black numbers on a black background) You actually have to bend down and squint to see if you have the right hotel room, who came up with this idea?

Stayed one night but it was fabulous. Quick check in and a gorgeous, functional room. The only hiccup was my first room had an odor and I was immediately moved. My colleague enjoyed the cigar selection in the lobby bar (good and broad but thin wine list) and we then went to the Japanese restaurant for a lovely (but expensive!) meal. Never made it to the pool, alas, but the pictures look great. Next time!

Absolutely everything the W is known for high quality service and swanky surroundings. I got to try the breakfast buffet which has a good mix of chinese and western food. The pool and bar to the top floor looked spectacular but I didn't get to try nor the outdoor patio which I will remember for other trips to GZ. Also worth noting is that the neighboring street is a western 'restaurant row' type street so easy for western travelers to find food, coffee shops etc. Took about 10 mins walk to nearest metro - maybe 15/20 mins to walk to IFC. I knocked the comfort here as my air conditioning was stuck very low but they did resolve this for me well.

Just have to fix the smoke free rooms

One of the best hotels in China but of course it doesn't matter that you ask for a non-smoking room they still smell like smoke. It says they will charge you if you smoke in the room but obviously people don't care and they don't use this money to get rid of the smell. Other than this, best hotel and suite I have found in China.
