We loved the location and ambience of the place for our first visit to Roma. The place was cute and comfortable. A bit noisy as you are in the heart of things so it was a good balance. We had to go to the sister hotel for breakfast every day, which was close by. Food was okay, could have been warmer but staff were great. The hotel is a bit dated but it’s part of the charm. Be warned if you’re older as there are steps and getting into the shower/tub can be difficult.

This room was very spacious with such a unique decor. It is well situated, but it is worth mentioning that noise can be heard at night (especially Saturday) since there are pedestrians walking on the street. The rooftop breakfast offers a stunning view of the city. To my surprise, it serves a variety of tasty options. Highly recommended.

Don't be fooled by the decor. The bathroom was moldy, the itnernet was doggy and the body wash/hair shampoo was the old fashion small tubes that didn't lather up with a small old fashion hand soap for the basin. We got absolutely no sleep as the noise is horrific with the walk-through traffic in the street that goes all night. The only nice thing was the location of where the breakfast was on the top terrace of the other hotel and the location is central.

Fabulous location in a villa

Great location on a wonderful street - walking distance to Vatican (10 mins) and wonderful restaurants nearby . Room was good size. Noisy as is most of Rome but worth the location. Nice staff- bathroom was ok and bed was comfortable. Lovely building

Beautiful hotel, amazing location, and overall would recommend!!

Wifi did not work at all, we never mentioned it as I had wifi so would not decount that. As the property is old it was very loud as there is no insulation in the windows, but again can’t complain as we knew.

Overall would recommend as the location is stunning, and the hotel room itself is a really amazing experience.

We loved this property, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The only negative that I have for this was that the shower was tiny. I had to turn off the water to lather up and didn’t have enough room to move my arms around. Besides that I would highly recommend based on location, staff, and cleanliness.

Renaissance charm in the heart of things

This place is awesome, I will be staying here every time I come to Rome from now on. The rooms are amazing, thoughtfully decorated with detail in renaissance style. The rooftop is gorgeous, with great views and a nice place to just hang out. And the location is tremendous, right in the heart of things around the corner from piazza navona, and short walk to Vatican, pantheon, etc.

There was a fixed twin bed and a twin sofa bed. The room is not comfortable for 4 people. It should not exceed 3 people. The twin sofa bed mattress is sagging in the middle and is very uncomfortable for two people to sleep in. I got a back ache. I told the receptionist about it and recommended that they replace the sofa bed with a fixed twin bed. The location in the center of town is good.

We loved the location- right near Piazza Navona and near the Ponte Saint Angelo. The perfect spots to end our busy days in Rome - and stay close to our hotel. The room is was nice and a fun experience to stay in such a unique styled room. We loved the area and would definitely come back again.

Great Location, Big Room needs some work

This Hotel was in a great location, easy walking distance to a lot of the sites in Rome, and accessing good food and shops were literally at the door step. Felt very safe and secure walking around the entire area Upon check-in our room was not ready to go. (we arrived after 3pm, check-in states 2pm) so we had to wait in the lobby which was very small with all of our luggage until they had prepared our room (about 25-30 mins) Our original booking was for a family of 4, they said they only had a booking for 2, which I clearly showed them that was not the case, they told me I would have to pay for the kids, I showed them my receipt and booking confirmation and told them flat out I wasn’t paying. They eventually agreed. There was a small fridge in the room which was more than enough for us. There was no coffee maker or kettle in the room.
Room was very large as hotel rooms go, but only had 1 table and 1 chair. A/C was relatively new and was very effective. Shower was good but the drain needs to be cleaned desperately (it would backup and overflow the door)
Overall this was a great location, a large room and we enjoyed our stay.
the room is remote from the main hotel and there was no phone connecting us to a switchboard or anything
they also never informed us there was a shuttle available to take us to the airport/rail departure terminals beforehand so we took the bus (also very easy!)

This hotel is located in the center of the city and is walkable to many areas including hop on/hop off bus stops. We chose the hotel for it's dated and decadent decorations. The bed was comfortable and our room was spacious. However, it's not the cleanest room I've ever been in and there was definitely some mold in the bathroom. The AC worked well, but they don't use any in the halls and the windows were just left open so I worried about bugs coming in the room. There were small insects but nothing too bad. If you are someone who goes to bed early, bring a noise machine (which we did) because you hear everything in the halls and outside of the hotel in the streets. It was good for one night and we got exactly what we paid for. My friends didn't have any trouble sleeping.

First, the staff was very helpful and nice. The bedroom was very large, although updated bedding would be nice. The bathroom is long overdue for a renovation. Also, the toilet needed 3 pushes on the button before it would flush. Locating the check-in is also a bit confusing, and I travel to Rome at least once a year. On the plus side, the location was great.

This hotel (If you can call it that) is dark and dingy. The shower is installed sideways and makes it near impossible to take a normal shower. Cleanliness is about a 2. Bathroom floors were dirty, and the shower had mold around the edges. There is no staff or services on site, you must walk to the other building for breakfast or any other help.

Old world charm and old worn furnishing

Love the old world Italian charm, the friendly staff, the spacious room, the location. But the couches are old with sinking seats, the mattress needs replacement. There are ants in the washroom. The safe’s mechanism does not work at all in one of our 2 booked rooms, and the other safe cannot be programmed and requires the emergency key with each access. There is no phone in the room…ie, no direct line to reception, housekeeping, etc, and no wake up call service.

Bed was 6” off the floor and had broken springs. Couch was broken down and unusable. Bathroom was tiny where two people could not occupy. Toilet was terrible, shower was tiny. Door locked with skeleton key just to demonstrate age of property. Elevator was a death trap and would not hold over two people.

Amazing Boutique \"Hotel\"

I chose this \"hotel\" based on the location and the pictures of the rooms. I absolutely loved the period decor of our room. The location could not be beat as it was steps from Piazza Navona and very easy walking distance to the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. We were only there 2 nights, so we didn't venture much further (we had just gotten off a 16 day cruise). We booked the extra large room and it was great for the two of us, but would easily accommodate 4 people, if needed. I wish the room had USB ports, but fortunately, I was prepared and brought the proper convertors to be able to charge our phones and watches. This hotel does not have a lobby and really isn't even a hotel, but you can check in at the sister property. There is an elevator, which was great considering we had a ton of luggage. I would have liked some other options for breakfast -- they have a lot of \"sweets\" -- more protein and \"regular\" croissants would be a nice addition, but you cannot beat the view from the roof-top breakfast area -- simply amazing. The young lady who worked the breakfast area was wonderful and made us cappuccinos when requested. The other staff were great as well!

Super friendly and helpful staff made it easy to check in, gave local recommendations and let us check our bags after checkout so we didn’t have to find a locker.

The beds were comfortable - even the sofa bed that was ready for our kids to sleep in. The street was pretty noisy until about 11pm, but sleepable after that - you might want a sleep app if you are a light sleeper. Would recommend the property to anyone needing a centrally located property. A good value!

The hotel has an amazing terrace - roof top restaurant. Breakfast is very good and the coffee is amazing too.

Nice vestibule that separates the sleeping area which was nice extra space, especially to use if kids were sleeping. Breakfast is around the corner at a partner hotel (this is where the front desk is located to check in). Nice decor, clean room, and friendly staff.

We loved the room. It was finished in an antique theme, including heavy armoire and drapes, but with numerous large windows that let in a great breeze and lots of light. It had a separate sitting room and nice modern bath with shower. Located 2 blocks from Piazzo Navonne, there were restaurants and shops everywhere. It felt very safe, we walked around at all hours and it was fabulous. Staff was very pleasant and ready to help with everything! There is a rooftop terrace at a sister hotel around the corner which serves a continental breakfast. We loved it and already planning a return visit.

I reserved a room because of the location (near Piazza Navona) and the dramatic decor but found the accommodation didn't suit me. The bed was very comfortable, but there were no bedside tables (just ottomans that were too small & low), light switches were not easily accessible from the bed, the furniture was a little beat up, and the room had no amenities like cups or a kettle for tea/coffee. The room had a heavy perfumy scent and I don't recall being able to control the temperature. The bathroom needed some remodeling and there was a sign that said the jacuzzi tub could not be used, only the handheld shower. In the morning I found I had no internet service or hot water along with a loose showerhead. The internet & water were still not working when I returned later in the afternoon, so I moved to another hotel. The water issue seemed to have been resolved just before I left, but I was not convinced it would remain fixed throughout my stay so I didn't remain.

The location of this hotel is perfect. It is a walkable distance to most of the popular attractions in Rome.
The staff is extremely friendly, from the front desk to the staff at the restaurant on the rooftop.
The rooftop restaurant has an amazing view of Rome. The included breakfast is excellent and served on the rooftop, so quite a nice way to start ones day!

This place is a great find! It's on via dei coronari which is a mostly pedestrian road that is literally centuries old. It is lined with cafes, shops, antiques, gelato, etc. The taxi can drop you off at the sister hotel which is less than 1 minute walk away and is on a larger road that cars can actually get to. You have to go to the sister hotel anyway for check in, check out, breakfast, and luggage storage, so it's not a big deal. The location is a 5 minute walk from Pantheon, 10 minute walk from Castel Sant'Angelo, 30 minute from Vatican.

Ok, so on to the room itself. We booked a quad room for two people, and this is what I suggest you do too. The room is gigantic for two people, but would be quite small for four. The quad room has one large bed and two pull out sofas. It would probably be comfortable enough for three. The walls are lined with bold wallpaper and large paintings of a classical style. I wish there was a little more lighting in the room, but it was fine. I also wish the bathroom shower was larger, but small showers are a common problem in Europe, so I don't think this was particularly unusual.

The included breakfast is spectacular. you get focaccia with pizza sauce, rolls, meats, cheese, yogurt, cereal, pastries, croissants, capuccino, espresso. It is quite an extensive buffet.

When I come back to Rome, I'll stay here again.

Memorable, quirky place

Really fun to have a hotel room with such over-the-top decor; it certainly is memorable and unique. A bit of a musty smell in the room we were in, though, and some of the bathroom fixtures a little old. Having said that, the location was absolutely fantastic and the rooftop breakfast was another memorable treat - superb food and a wonderful view. Honestly for the price it was a good choice.

Location was great. Sandra was great at the front desk. I would not stay here again though on a Friday or Saturday. We could hear all the partying until 3 or 4 in the morning. Kept us up. Sunday through Tuesday was great. Quiet and we were able to sleep. That was really the only downside to our stay at the hotel, but I actually think we would have had same issues staying at any hotel or B & B in that area. Room was dark, but we were aware before we booked.

The room was very big and spacious I loved the decor and having our private area. We had a mini fridge and enough outlets around the room. The location was perfect we were able to walk everywhere and had soo many options for great places to eat. The only thing I didn't love about the room was that after flushing the toilet the bathroom would get a strange smell and the shower head is detachable so it was very hard to get it to stay in place when showering. Since the shower door only covers half of the shower we would have so much water on the floor after each shower.

This was a great fit for our stay in Rome. The location is great, the ambiance is cool, and the staff is really helpful. They have a nice breakfast available on the rooftop of their main desk building (separate from the one the rooms are in - but just around the corner.) The rooms are HUGE and full of character. We needed a very early pick up for the airport and the desk staff not only arranged a ride for us but also provided a breakfast to go - which was really nice of them. Definitely would stay with them again on another visit.

Whilst the rooms look good on the internet, be warned, This property is not properly maintained and is a complete shambles. The hot water failed on day 2 of our week long stay and despite daily complaints was still not fixed 5 days later. The wardrobe did not close properly and due to the uneven floor would regularly swing open without warning. Lightbulbs did not work until jiggled around in their socket by staff. The bathroom is tiny, and there are no facilities such as ironing board or coffee making. The hotel staff are friendly, but our stay was made a nightmare by the constant failure of the hot water and the overall unmaintained state of the property.

Nice room close to Piazza Narvona and Vatican. We had hoped to take advantage of the breakfast, but our tours started too early to do so. Main office was in building across street. \"Shower\" was basically a hand shower that did not stay above head level so we had to rig it with the clothes line to get a decent shower. Management was responsive to requests for extra blankets. Main bed was comfortable but pull out couch was not since you could feel the rail through mattress. Room was very dark with inadequate lighting, but very pretty like in picture. Overall a good experience. I would stay here again.

The location is excellent. The only down side is that we had to walk around the corner to access the wonderful roof top terrace where we had our include breakfast, and our late evening lemoncello. The breakfast was very good with variety, enough seating and a great view. Our room was very large, in a great locatin and strange but in a good way with heavy red wallpaper and baudy classical paintings.

Antica Di mora is is an amazing location, central to some of the best local restaurants and shopping in Rome. My room felt like something the Pope would sleep in! My only complaint was the shower...... Very tiny. But in the scheme of things so not an issue! Staff were so helpful. I would recommend Antica Di mora de Michaelis to others.

The hotel was good with a fabulous location. Close to piazza navona and pantheon and walking distance to Vatican. On a street with many cute shops and cafes. Breakfast was at their rooftop cafe and was excellent. The only complaint is that the confirmation email should have given direction to the check in desk which was in another building.

Best location in Rome

My husband and I chose this hotel online because of the location (around the corner from Piazza Navona and close to the Pantheon) and the decor - campy italian castle, which was so much more interesting to us than most of the other spare, Ikea-style rooms we saw elsewhere. But what we were most delighted by was the charming, upscale street and neighborhood this little gem was tucked into! Via dei Coronari is a picturesque Italian corridor lined with lovely shops and just steps away from Via della Pace where we ate nearly every night at one of the many outdoor cafes - excellent food, complete with street musicians and very friendly service. The property is part of the Antica Dimora hotel group, and what is missing in the Expedia listing (perhaps they will update it) was the fact that guests at De Michaelis are entitled to the free breakfast buffet on the spectacular rooftop terrace of their Cinque Lune property just steps away! In fact, De Michaelis guests have free access to the rooftop at any time, which is where we ended more than one of our evenings with a bottle of Prosecco or Limoncello after an exhilarating day of exploring this incredible city! On a practical note, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and big, by italian standards. We were very happy there.

Unique hotel in a perfect location.

Perfect location near city centre, 1 minute walk to sister hotel for breakfast with a beautiful rooftop terrace for a great breakfast. Unique decor, great character with a friendly atmosphere and very helpful staff.
Only down side was the noise outside during the late evening/early morning.
Would definitely stay here again if we ever in Rome again.

Excellent position basic room with character

Position of the hotel is excellent. 2 minutes walk to Piazza Navona. Room had character but did not match the advertised picture and was a bit small for two beds we required. It was sold to us as a quode. Our room was on level 1 and it was a bit noisy.

Wonderful room overlooking one of the side streets close to Piaza Navona. Lovely staff who were very accommodating. Hotel provides a great breakfast on their large roof top terrace that overlooks the city. Guests are permitted to use the roof top area at their leisure. There is no bar in the hotel but it is permitted for guests to drink their own vino on the terrace. Love the decor of the room, very quirky and unusual. You just could not get a better location !

Our stay at Antica Dimora de Michaelis

We arrived by taxi to a locked door, with no idea how to get in. After pressing the bell with the hotel name on a member of staff came up the street and took us to our lovely room. Reception was back down the street, first on left. From reception an excellent breakfast is served on the fifth floor. The bedrooms are in a separate block up the street.
The location of this hotel is fantastic and I would choose to go back there.
Taxis are near and buses up the street. Taxi fare to Ciampino airport 30 euros.
Hotel nearest to Piazza Navonna. Lots of restaurants at good prices and good food-cheaper away from main attractions.

Very nice B&B. Close to everything. Very clean and decorated to make you feel that you are staying in a room in a castle. The reception was very helpful and breakfast was on a beautiful rooftop. BE AWARE...our room was seperate from the reception area and was very confusing at first to find

Rooms look exactly like pictures, but honestly a little creepy. Check in was at a different location down the street ams the hotel had a more hostel vibe to it. Clean, great location for the price.

What a wonderful location (March 2016)

Perfect location for walking to majority of major sightseeing attractions in Rome.
Piazza Navona within seconds of front door, 10-15 mins to the Vatican, 25mins to the Colosseum.
Rooms are exactly as you see in pictures.
Hotel staff are extremely helpful and friendly providing a good map of Rome on check in and taking time to circle all major attraction and places of interest.
Breakfast was served in main hotel (approx 60sec walk from room) on rooftop.
Overall a great find really enjoyed our stay would definitely recommend and stay again if we returned to Rome.

Charming and good location

A very charming find in the Navona area! We had one of the larger rooms, and the decor was very unique...a nice touch to 4 days in Rome. The location was well within walking distance to most major sites, and the neighbourhood provided plenty of dining options (try Taverna Parione on via di Parione for a wonderful home made Italian dinner). The staff at the parent hotel were very courteous and helpful, and even allowed us to check in early as our room was ready. The breakfast on the roof of the parent hotel was certainly adequate to start a long day of sightseeing, and had a lovely view of the area. We had no trouble with the wifi, or street noise. As reported in other reviews, the only \"con\" we found was the water pressure in the shower, and its tendency to go from ice cold to boiling hot in an instant. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel, and have every intention of staying here again.

Quirky and elegant hotel very close to the sights

We booked this hotel specifically because of the excellent reviews and eclectic room decor and we were not disappointed!
It was, perhaps, a little hard to find on arrival as it is part of a larger hotel just around the corner and the signage was not very obvious. You have to ring a doorbell to get connected to the larger hotel and they send someone round to see you in - this was done quickly and the staff member was very helpful. The room was everything we expected - nicely decorated and furnished and there was also a small fridge which is always very useful. I suppose if I could have magicked up one thing it would have been bedside tables but this was a very minor grievance! The bathroom was nice and had everything we required although the jacuzzi function on the bath was not working - we didn't think this enough of a problem to make a fuss about.
Breakfast is at the bigger hotel round the corner and is served on the 5th floor roof terrace - a real treat if the weather is as good as it was for us with panoramic views of the city rooftops. Do - really do - watch those seagulls though - we saw more than one breakfast lost by an inattentive guest who wandered off to fetch coffee! Maybe a tiny gripe is that breakfast is only from 8am which meant on our last day and with a departure time of 07.45 we had to set off without croissants/coffee. It would have been nice to have started our journey having had something to eat.
Overall I highly recommend this hotel!

Excellent apartment for a couple, in the best possible location in central Rome. Quiet, yet a few steps away from everything. Nice breakfast on the rooftop in the main hotel, with beautiful views of Rome. Decor and furniture are somewhat extravagant, which made the place feel really unique, but might not be to everyone's liking. We loved it!

Run down hotel

Second night we awoke to a burning smell and no lights. We were in a separate building with no hotel employees. We dressed using our cell phones then went 2 blocks to sister hotel and found it closed rang buzzer and hot a hotel staff to go to our room there was a short in the bathroom area. We then had to change rooms ar 230am. It was a smaller room wich we had to stay for the restof our stay.I am requesting a refund for the difference in price.The breakfast was below par

Great quaint hotel

Just to emulate what previous guests have said, the service at this hotel was great. We were immediately greeted with delicious fresh juice. We had a long delay on the train coming in and were given recommendations on places to go. It was the last room available and although small was very clean and comfortable. Great place for the price we payed. Walking distance from all major attractions.
