Unfortunately we didn't realise the room we have booked it was very small (the door didn't open because of the bed, there was no space to walk around the bed). The bathroom was very small and damp, no balcony, only a small window.
The window was pointing towards the inner garden terrace which had karaoke, loud music and loud conversations.

Good hotel, good location

Our third stay here and as good as previously. Although the bus station is so near and convenient the hotel is in a quiet location. Plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. Room had everything we needed. Particularly liked the room lighting. Often hotels have bedroom lighting too dim to read by. Reception staff very helpful.. Will stay again.

Great hotel and value for money

All the staff were excellent, extremely helpful, polite, friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. I used the indoor pool, jacuzzi, sauna and had 2 massages all very good.
The food was excellent.
The hotel was very clean everywhere, well maintained, i would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone.

A nice well maintained hotel. We had hired a car so the free car park opposite was a bonus. Near to many restaurants, breakfast at the hotel was good. Roof top bathing area with a pool was super, if cold, just what you needed in the heat.
Room was nice and clean but bed a bit hard.

Lack of air conditioning surprising

Great location for the bus station and reastaurants nearby. The hotel is clean, staff friendly and the breakfast buffet has something for all tastes and food cultures. However, the lack of air condition meant that our room temperature was a constant 25 degrees which was way too warm for a comfortable night's sleep. With traffic noise and Saharan dust outside, sleeping with the balcony door open wasn't really an option. The hotel lent us a fan which helped somewhat but as a 4 star hotel we thought air conditioning came as standard but clearly not.

room not ready on time, no electric sockets at side off bed, took nearly an hour to find us an extension lead to plug my husbands oxygen in, couldn't get a drink at happy hour, not enough staff, no proper queuing system, on the good side room large, clean and comfortable, staff pleasant, food in dining room good and outside happy hour getting a drink was okay and avalible staff attentive.

I checked out of here two days early to move to another hotel. My room had quite a few mosquitos, the air conditioning wasn’t available until the end of the month and my room was too warm to sleep comfortably. But not having any outlets on either side of the bed was the clincher for me because I use a CPAP machine to sleep. The staff tried hard to make it right by providing a power strip extension cord, and offered to spray the room to rid the mosquitos, but I simply wanted to find another place and enjoy some restful sleep.

Arrived a little early as we were leaving from another hotel in a different part of Malta before arriving at the Santana, we were impressed with the outside appearance of the hotel until we tried to mount the stairs in the pouring rain, my husbands on crutches and although there is a ramp it was to steep and slick with the rain for him to use safely, after 5mins of struggling up the steps with 2 suitcases and helping my husband being watched by a staff member (no offer of help) I booked us in, as early was told we could put our luggage in storage and our room would be ready at 2pm, okay went into a lounge area for the football asked for keys at 2.15 not ready, seems a balcony had to be re-cleaned due to the rain!!, around 20mins later the receptionist arrived with keys, ground floor room lots of space, clean, tidy and disabled friendly, lifts to restaurant and indoor pool, buffet breakfast, plenty of and good selection, dining area better quality than others in the area, check out quick and easy and as going to a further hotel we were allowed to store luggage and watch the football, overall as this was a single nights stay we would book again for a longer period

Whenever I visit Malta this is the only hotel I ever book. Over the years there have been many enhancements to the property and the Santana just keeps getting better and better. Staff are always friendly and the hotel is situated in the perfect spot to get to anywhere on the island with the bus station very close by. Last visit I got upgraded to an executive suite, so thank you Santana! :) Only one slight niggle, the linen and towels are the next thing to upgrade, they’re all a bit thin and worn. But overall, a brilliant place to stay.

There was an issue on check out - reception team hassled me for a payment (which had been paid). I showed receipt and then emailed it to them. Their admin issue was not mine to sort. We had an unexpected knock on our door at 0200hrs. There should be tighter security on who they let into the hotel. We were two females and the man wanted to join us in our room! We were shocked as he had clearly followed us. Reception team were not interested in this report. We stay often here and this was the first poor service we have had

We have stayed here several times and usually always good ,this time we had a few problems with keys and the bedsheets were sometimes too small to fit the bed properly also our towels were not changed on two consecutive days , these were only minor problems and we did enjoy our stay .

I love this hotel stayed a few times and will stay again. My only only concern is the wifi and the tv, no wifi it didnt work and the tv only the news,
No plug sockets at the side of the beds, and none near the large mirror,.the only plug sockets were near the desk
Breakfast is fantastic, so is the indoor pool, the bar is inexpensive, overall the hotel is great

After arrival , check in was very fast. Reception were helpful. Room was on a good level however i was disappointed with the room. It hadn't been used in a while , broken bathroom door , shower water everywhere , no signal on TV and WIFI was EXTREMELY BAD ... had to keep reconnecting every 2-3 mins. Manager was called to the room and had the TV fixed , so that was good but the wifi situation was very disappointing. The bed was very comfortable however and had a peaceful sleep !! ... I would come back again however I would make requests

Hotel had a construction site next door so constant noise from the build next door. Was moved to another room which was away from the building works but small basement time room. Very disappointed for the price paid. Hotel is in a poor state of repair in the rooms. I would say 2-3 star. Definitely not a 4 star.

I loved the chairs and table with ashtray on the balcony as we both smoke. We did not like to find that our bed cover was not clean, with hairs on it, a dent on the wall next to the bathroom (plaster was coming off) and the curtains of the balcony were not cleaned on the bottom and were missing some hooks.
This was all reported on check in to Reception.
We were told somebody from Management would have a word with us but didn't. Not a word, an email or a phone call. This was a 3 day stay.

I ordered a double bed and all they had was two single beds stuck together and was the for almost two weeks
The lady at the excursion desk had no idea what she was doing and booked be on a Sicily trip that was not going that day, I ended up booking it with nearby hotel a few days latter

Just returned from a week spent at the Hotel Santana, the stay was very good overall, with the friendliness of the staff being one of the major plus points. In particular Karen the waitress was very helpful and went the extra mile to make us feel welcome, especially the children.
One negative about the area currently is the amount of development going on at the rear of the hotel and all around the neighbourhood, which resulted in noise, but not enough to say it was a holiday wrecker, but enough to be annoying at times.
We had a issue with the room, which was the bathroom flooded after the shower drain didn’t take away the water from the shower, the issue was quickly resolved by the maintenance team. One piece of advice is to take multi socket plugs as there were only 3 sockets in the room, and with 4 of us in a family room, it meant devices being charged one at a time.
If I returned to the area I would consider the hotel again.The family room was nice and spacious, and was everything we expected.
Unfortunately the Zen Garden was not open, which would have given the hotel more appeal, especially of an evening if entertainment was put on in this area.

Room very nice, as has been recently refurbished. Dining room will receive an update early next year, and that will be a bonus. Unfortunately, building work next door, with work starting at 7.30 in the morning, so no peaceful lie-in. On the plus side, the hotel couldnt be in a better position for the bus station, only 200 meters away, serving a lot of destinations. Staff very friendly, and evening entertainment usually very good.Roof top pool, and inside pool very inviting.

We required a room as a stop over between flights. While we very pleased with the room we found that it was very small. We wouldn’t want to stay there longer than one night. If we had a longer stay we surely would have upgraded. However the bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean and cosy. WIFI wasn’t very good but worked very well in the lobby. The staff were very hospitable and accommodating. Would I book a room in future? Definitely Yes but A larger one next time.

Building work on the building next door causes some parts of the hotel to be closed, such as some of the sundeck, and the Zen garden.

I enjoyed my stay here. The place is not incredibly fancy but I feel I got my worth out of my money. I had a technical problem with my room but the staff were quick to get it fixed. I was very glad for the place to store my luggage after checkout while waiting for my flight out.

Location was very convenient and the staff were all helpful and very nice people. However, very noisy building works going on next door, even on a Saturday - could not relax by the outdoor pool due to the noise!
décor and facilities very dated, tiny sink in room (with very slow flowing and drainage of water), non-existent water pressure for shower, very very old on wall hair dryer.
Breakfast was mediocre, typical package holiday standards (although we were not on a package deal). Not sure it can call itself 4*

I think Hotel Santana was the finest choice I could have had in the Maltese Islands. Economic as it was, the hotel provided impeccable service and great comfort. The room was large and comfortable for our extensive seven day vacation. The location was right near the Bugibba Bay bus station, and near the sea. There was a very lively and active neighborhood nearby, but the ambience was quiet. I will surely go back to stay here the next time I visit the Maltese islands.

The hotel is quite nice but very tired. There is no shelf in the shower to put soap etc so you make the floor wet leaning out to get it. I wouldn't recommend this hotel at the moment because of the building work literally next door. The builders woke me up at 8 o'clock which isn't early but it is when your on holiday & as it is a roof pool there was brick dust all day. The food was varied but of poor quality i.e the fruit salad was tinned and the pineapple was tinned not fresh. The soup was tasteless

Location was excellent and staff were very helpful. Room was a bit squashy. Air con kept turning off which made it uncomfortable in 32 deg heat. Shower wouldn't work properly. Maintenance came up but couldn't fix it. Shower leaked all over floor. Car parking was advertised but you had to take pot luck with the public. Not easy in a bayside place

Undeserved 4 star rating for Santana hotel

Arrived a bit early and placed my possessions in storage room and enjoyed the pool upstairs until check in time. Wouldn’t have known I could do that if didn’t hear other early arrivals being offered that opportunity. When I checked into my room found the television was difficult to find an English speaking news channel. The man sent up explained that since they changed the television service they now have about 100 channels, but none come in clearly. The breakfast meal was terrible, powdered eggs, cold potatoes. The drinks in the bar were very expensive literally 3x what I paid for the same drink at my hotel the night before on Comino island.

Not really a lot to like about this hotel really. Check in was fine. Went up to the room and unpacked. Woke up middle of the night to use the toilet to find a huge cockroach in the bathroom. Called maintenance to get it out and they did. Next night same thing happened again! Went to reception to find a very unhelpful male receptionist, shrugging his shoulders. He called his manager and they gave us another room....this then was a twin room rather than the double we had paid for. Went back downstairs again to be told by the rude male receptionist that he didn't have any other double rooms....after he checked in another couple, he then checked us into a double room! (so this one just magically appeared from nowhere???!!!) Very unhappy with the whole experience. There is also another building outside of the rooms which is being made....construction work starts at roughly 6am and therefore you never really get a good nights sleep. I wouldn't recommend this hotel. Especially room 208.

This was a cheap holiday so my expectations were low. It is a cheap and adequate place to stay, but don't expect high quality. The staff however all spoke English and are very helpful and polite. The hotel is close to the bus station so you are able to catch a bus to various destinations I downloaded the Malta bus routes to help me get around

The location is nice and the breakfast is really good. Rooms are nice but it need some maintenance
I had a big issue in checking in. First they gave me a room in the ground floor which is very noisy and very slow internet.
I asked to change it, the receptionist gave 2 options that are not good and not what I paid for.
I asked her to call the deputy manager who is a real gentleman and fixed this issue by giving me a good room based on my booking.

Nice property and very clean with a goodbreakfast. My issue was with the noise, and not the construction noise but the constant bellowing in the hallways. Housekeeping was especially bad. There is no sound insulation and the sounds just echoes. It was awful! Also tnestaff. I complained about my room on day 1 and was toldthere would be something else “tomorrow”. I had an excursion and afterwards asked about a room change and was told I should have come to the desk midday.....what kind of customer service is that? I ended up changing to one on the 3rd floor abd even with the construction noise it was far superiorto where I had been. I was there for 10 nights also and there coyldn’gt care less about mysaisfaction. Another thing is thise horrid plastic chairs that people were dragging all over tne place. It is really a shame be ause it is a nice place witha de ent location. A little effort would have made a big difference.

Hotel was alright for the price, but quite musty and lobby smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. Think they don’t change the duvet covers, just something to note
