Very clean, comfortable hotel , very handily across the road from a train station. The wifi was not working when I arrrived but the manager got straight onto it and it was fixed within 2 hours, and worked very well for the rest of my stay. The breakfast is excellent.

Looking at the room and the hotel, this is absolutely a budget hotel. However, the price of the hotel, once you pay for breakfast and parking is higher than a typical budget price.
Also the room was very stuffy with very little air and the 'air-conditioning' only heated, it could not be used to circulate air. Opening the windows allowed a lot of traffic noise in.

Nice location near a train station featuring Roman ruins (not the main station for Mainz, but that was fine) and many interesting sites and dining options within easy walking distance, including a free museum across the street. The room is small with very basic amenities, but this is a budget hotel, and it was totally fine for one person for 3 nights. My only complaint was the twin bed I had in my room was VERY firm, to the point of being uncomfortable. It was also really small -- I'm a smaller person so that was fine, but it might be too small for a tall or large person.

Great stay for a reasonable price. we came late for breakfast and still could enjoy a wide variety of meals. The incorrect info about price for parking on hotels com was acknowledged and I paid the lower price but could be acknowledged easier rather than me trying to persuade the hotel that they are responsible for the info on hotels com. Otherwise great and still giving four stars. would be five if it were not for the need to explain that I should pay the advertised price for parking which was already quite high at 9 euros per night

Stayed for four nights to visit the Christmas Markets in Mainz and nearby cities. The hotel is a modern, large hotel with the typical Ibis motif. The hotel is close to the secondary train station (Romanische Theater) and is actually on the edge of the Alt Stadt (old part of town). The room was slightly bigger than the typical Ibis room, the staff was friendly and attentive. They spoke English if you needed that. They had a hot breakfast buffet with all the typical German fair. They also had a good coffee machine that got a workout. The hotel was fairly busy every day but not congested. A good hotel for people in the know about how to get around, convenient to FRA airport on the S8 train, easy to get around the city. Much better area than that around the main train station (Hbf).

One morning I could not access my room. After 3 trips to the front desk to get another key, I had to wait in the lobby. Someone came up to my room with me & also could not get the door unlocked. Someone else came & mechanically took it apart. Then I had to change rooms. Everything had been unpacked & hung, electronics were charging. I missed morning activity. That was not fun.

Nice hotel, located within a 2 minute walk to the beautiful old town area of Mainz. There was a train station a 2 minute walk in the opposite direction from where you could catch trains to Mainz HBF and Frankfurt. If you are arriving in to Mainz by train, I would recommend catching a train to Mainz Romisches Theatre station and walking the short walk to the hotel from there as opposed to catching a bus or taxi. Would stay again if ever in Mainz.

This is the 4th time we have stayed in the Mainz Ibis hotel & we always get the best service there. The staff are all very friendly & more than willing to help each time. A fine choice for a couple nights
We had a two night stay planned in Mainz and booked this hotel via iPhone app while standing in the train station. The hotel was not yet electronically notified by the time we arrived but still quickly booked us in at the rate specified by Expedia. They run a small and very young staff but they are hard working and helpful. Location is great, easy walk to food and sights. Room was small but functional and clean. I would stay here again if I find myself back in Mainz.

Great location! Easy to walk to most attractions and great restaurants in close proximity. Remember that this hotel is not close to Mainz Hbf, but very close to Mainz Romisches Theater, a much more interesting location and closer o the old city. The hotel promised free Wi-Fi in the foyer, but it was very intermittent. The PC available for free in the foyer was very slow as it still ran (walked!) Windows XP! Otherwise, great hotel!

Hotel was adequate and breakfast was 10 euros extra but the location was 1 miniute walk from the train station and right near the centre of Mainz which was why we chose it. Reception staff could learn to smile a little! Only problem was rooms were far too hot and air con didnt work. They let us leave the luggage there on the day we checked out as we didnt fly till much later which was good. The turkish kebab cafe in town centre has great tasty cheap food and brilliant staff- try it! We didnt realize that everything closes on sun even the supermarket so be warned!

The Mainz Ibis hotel is very well located about 200mtrs. from the Romisches Theatre railway station. From the hotel, it is a confortable stroll into the city centre, either along the banks of the Rhine, or through quaint cobbled streets. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms basic, but comfortable. They seem to have a deliberate 'economy' style and one could not help thinking that for just a little more effort and planning, they could have easily have made them far better. Overall, good for couples on a budget.
