Nice clean hotel just outside the city Centre but not far from the main train station. The room was nice, bright and clean, the amenities were very nice and the breakfast was quite tasty and reasonably priced. The staff were very accommodating and pleasant. The attached German/Italian restaurant was also very good.

nice place

nice place. no kettle and sadly no english TV but room clean and easy parking. Ate nearby at in house restarant with a nice balcony. its quite a way out of town but i was only staying for convenience. Breakfast was ok but not worth the price.

WIFI signal in lower floor was poor.

When we tried the WIFI in the room it was not working, realize the room had a WIFI range extender, had to unplug the WIFI range extender (blackbox plug into an outlet in the hall) to be able to use the WIFI.

Lots of space but far from town centre.

Our room was at the far end of the extension block and pretty remote from the reception desk and the hotel car park. A bit of a problem if you have a few suitcases tow along. Parking is free and undercover. The hotel is at the city periphery and you need to take a bus to go into town centre. Bus frequency is half-hourly. Because of the location of the room WiFi was out in the evening and at night when a lot of hotel guests were using WiFi at the same time. It worked alright in the morning. The room was more like an apartment with 2 double-bed rooms, a large bathroom, a pantry (no utensils though) and a small living room.

I frequently use the Best Western for business travel. Hotel staff are very friendly and service is great. Breakfast is good and there are many options. There is no hotel bar and its a little isolated in that regard. The Italian adjoining the hotel serves great good though.

This is our second booking at the Best Western Mainz, because it is 5 minutes walk from family. On this occassion, we booked so that we could attend a family funeral. We had to postpone our stay, because of changes to the date of the funeral. The staff at the hotel were fantastic in working with Hotels.com and us to make the change of dates possible. We look forward to actually staying again, because they have been so understanding.

The hotel is recommended for several reasons: The rooms are modern and quite large, and equipped with a small kitchen. The surrounding is quiet and the hotel has a nice view. The breakfast was great, and we also liked the hotel restaurant in which we had dinner. The service is good and parking is free of charge. The only disadvantage in my opinion is the distance from the city center - about 1.5 km (walking down the hill slope). As long as you are young and in good shape, it's not a problem. I didn't find the bus connection adequate, but the hotel cannot be blamed for that. In general, if you wish to have a family vacation, a bit out of the city center, or if you have a car, I strongly recommend on this hotel.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights, it’s a short 15-20 minute walk from the train station. I’m pregnant and my main worry for the weekend was whether or not they would have an ice machine (it sounds silly but ice is the main thing that helps ease my horrific nausea). There was an adorable little ice machine right in the lobby! It was my life saver a few times. The breakfast was also a life saver for me as well! My nausea and freakishly picky appetite had me concerned but the huge diverse breakfast was awesome! The rooms are clean, they don’t smell, the beds and comforters are very comfortable & the bathrooms are immaculate. My only small complaint is that the room wasn’t well ventilated and sometimes I got a little stuffy.

When we arrived we had to wait an hour for our room to be ready we where allocated a room which was dark because of a big sign right in front of the only window which gave us no view attall there was a disgusting smell on the whole floor of drains on top of that the restaurant was not open that night after complaining we where given a different room which was OK I have to ask the question why was the first room given to us when he staff know full well which are the best or worst rooms not a good experience

Well-maintained hotel

My room was spotless, and the hotel provided an excellent breakfast, as well as a very decent computer hooked up to a printer in the main lobby for printing boarding passes etc. It wasn't the easiest to get to on foot from the train station, but taxis were plentiful and quick (ranged between 6 and 8 Euros to the station). My only complaint was that although the room had an air conditioner, it was pretty ineffective and I was uncomfortably hot every single night in the middle of September.

Stayed there for weekend for function at Alte Lokhalle. Great location. large, clean room. Friendly staff. One of the best breakfasts I've had in German hotels. Free, safe parking with easy access to hotel. the WiFi in room was difficult to maintain. Overall, a very good choice and we would definitely stay here again.

A visit to Mainz

This is an excellent and charming hotel, ideally located for exploring Mainz, the Rheingau and the Frankfurt area. It is a short walk from the Mainz train station where one may catch frequent trains to the area described (including the FRA airport). It also has an excellent restaurant attached serving Italian cuisine. The neighborhood is also very quiet.

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel! It is about a 10 minute walk (straight up a hill) from the train station and a 20 minute walk to the Altstadt. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the Wifi works great! The breakfast has a great selection. Would definitely recommend.

The hotel is a 15 minute walk (up hill) from the station and 20 - 25 minutes from the main town.
The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.
The breakfast choice was very good - a wide range to chose from and lots of variety.
The room was good in that it had a seating area, kitchenette, table and chairs - but it was a long way from reception and I couldn't work out why we had been put there when it wasn't full. The room was clean and had all the amenities, but was a bit soulless.

This hotel is set into a bankside overlooking the city. Entry is on 5th floor and bedrooms on lower floors. Good garage parking on site. Only coffee making facilities in room. No on site areas for coffee/relaxation during day. Restaurant not available after breakfast so one must use Italian restaurant next door but internally connected. Here the food is simple but adequate. Main problem is that the hotel is situated high above the city overlooking industrial area and station and air pollution in the area was particularly bad during our visit, particularly in terrace restaurant. The restaurant is good but not used to hotel advantage - suggest they hire a suitable chef and make more use of this excellent facility. Access to city is by 1 mile downhill walk or bus or taxi as parking is restricted in the city.

A bit dated interior decor and furnishings, but a good deal for the money. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent and so was the garage. Wifi codes provided free of charge. Living space was sizeable and easily sufficient for even an extended stay. A good find for location and price.

Nice hotel but!!!

This hotel was once a training facility for DB railways so the facilities and rooms are excellent. I had a sitting room with leather furniture and a separate bedroom. The bathroom was bigger than many European hotel rooms. It does have one major drawback. It is close to the station but in the opposite direction to the historic centre of town and up a significant hill. So thoroughly recommended provided you don't mind a 20 minute walk to sights and restaurants.
I used this hotel for a 3 day break after an exhausting cycle tour before flying out of Frankfurt so the location didn't bother me greatly.

Quiet Stay in Mainz

Hotel is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, so not a lot of street noise, but if you are looking for a neighborhood with a lot of restaurants and night life, this isn't it. Co-located with a decent Italian restaurant that seated us both nights of our stay even though they had large tour groups there (and on Monday night when they were officially closed!--so great customer service). We had a family room with 2 br and a sofa bed with kitchenette (though 2 burner stovetop did not seem to work, it didn't inconvenience us). Plenty of room and privacy for 2 adults with 2 adult children. Internet service, while included in our rate, was spottty--only a few bars and inconsistent signal. The breakfast was great with variety of cold meats and cheese, as well as breads, cereals, eggs, sausage/bacon and fresh fruit. Very good value for the money.

after a days work and walking around you climb the hill and arave half dead.
taxi drives dont like to make the travel as its not worth the money for them.

Fantastisk hotel som vi er kommet på de sidste 7 år i forbindelse med en konkurrence i byen. Hotellet er rent og lækkert og ligger i rolige omgivelser. Ok for a weekend

Ok for a weekend, got what we wanted. A bit wierd with all the corridors, but ok with signs on the wall. Tried to call the hotel during friday evening, since we did not manage to get into te room. No answer, and when I went to the reception the employee just sat there eating. Also during chechout, even when I showed the receipt for my pre payment, I was asked to pay once more. Guess that was because the employee was new at the job. Sent my receipt to their e-mail and have not heard anything back, wich confirms that my payment was ok all the time.

Leider war das Zimmer 551 über der Küche, sodass man ab 05.00 Uhr den Kompressor und Schiebetür, etc. hören konnte. Das Zimmer war ansonsten spitze !!
