Wow! This hotel was wonderful. We had a horrible stay the night before in Cologne and arrived via train quite early so we could visit the Christmas markets. It was raining and we were tired. Upon arrival, we had only intended to drop off our bags but, to our surprise, both of our rooms were ready early so we were able to check in! The rooms were fabulous and had everything you could have wanted. The staff was wonderful. The property was beautiful. Could not more highly recommend staying here.

This was a great hotel. They allowed you to choose the frequency of room cleaning which was nice! Would have liked a recycle container in the room. Only a coffee pod machine in the room, which isn't ideal for tea (and leaks when you use it for tea), so a kettle would be preferred for this tea drinker. Otherwise the room was modern, clean and comfortable! Enjoyed our stay! Staff was excellent and helpful with any inquiry we had!

The hotel is about to close, weather for renovation or for good is not clear, but this is something they forgot to advertise online. Nevertheless, hotel was decent, but more of an Ibis level than a Novotel, although priced as a Novotel.

Staff was quite difficult and seemed clueless about how to manage simple tasks such as charging us for some extras from a fridge in the lobby.

I am not sure what happened, but this was not the experienced I wanted from a Novotel.

Loved our stay. Very quiet hotel area. Check in was seamless, rooms are good with comfortable beds, coffee machine along with tea kettle & tea. Loved the breakfast as it had a great variety. Very close to central area & very accessible with car or by foot. Lots of underground parking

Top of the hill

Nice hotel at the top of the hill steep climb back or stairs,taxi from town 15euro. PutTrajanstrasse inthe satnav for the car park, or you will miss it in the one way,go down to the second level, you will see the signs for the lift

Older hotel in okay condition very in need of updating. Parts of the spa are out of order (cold plunge) and the entire pool and spa area is often pretty smelly. That being said, the sauna is huge and wonderful!

Great staff and lovely hotel!

We had a great stay with such friendly and helpful people. They went out of their way to make sure that our room was ready early, which was so kind. We needed it early to make it to a wedding. Very professional and nice. It's within walking distance from the train station and downtown. We loved their pool/sauna area. Our only mild complaint was that the pool is quite small and the hot tub was not working. We would still highly recommend Novotel!

Comfortable stay

Our family of four stayed just one night in this hotel before continuing our holiday, travelling through Germany. We found it very comfortable sharing a room together and enjoyed a lovely breakfast with great choices.

Great location and friendly service

The hotel is in a great location, a few minutes’ walk from the train station and 15 minutes to the city centre. The staff are very friendly and helpful and tolerated my rusty German (they offered to switch to English but I like to practice). Fitness centre is basic and the room decor is a bit worn but everything works. Excellent breakfast buffet.

A disappointing stay

The sauna in the Wellness Spa was completely out of service for the entirety of our stay (four days!). Visiting the Wellness Spa and using the sauna has always been a key aspect of our stay at the Novotel. After two days of disappointment at the Novotel, we went to an outside spa to enjoy a relaxing sauna. It cost us an additional 36 Euros to get what we should have had at the Novotel.

Located very close to the Mainz Dom. Hotel is on the hill, so you can take the lifts to go down to level 5 and enter city from the back gate. Staff was very nice ! It’s always nice to come to a hotel/restaurant where people are smiling.

We returned to this hotel having stayed there four years ago. We were very pleased with our stay. Service is friendly, it's a peaceful location, and only a 10 minute walk from the HBF, and close to the old city as well. Room was spacious, very clean, with tea kettle for making coffee or tea in room. Breakfast was excellent. This is a first class hotel, operated by first class people. Air conditioning worked fine in spite of heat wave.

Great hotel

We chose a family room and it was very spacious and comfortable. The Spa in the hotel is out of this world and an experience all of its own. €16 for an overnight parking spot is a bit of a disappointment but no worse than a lot of hotels in ciris charge from what I can gather. I would highly recommend it.

Highly Recommend but watch the Showers!

I stayed at this hotel off and on for three weeks. The staff and room itself was great. Very helpful staff. One problem. In these three weeks I had three different rooms. Every room had the same problem. The showers leak terribly. The showers are old and in drastic need of replacement. Other than that the hotel is great. The restaurant has amazing food as well.

Said parking was no cost, 16E per day. Later told I could get 14E day pass if I ask. Broke the door chain into room while changing to \"check the cleanliness\". Shower is hard to enter/exit from height and dirty with mold. Location was excellent with only 10min to everything in Mainz.

It was a nice enough hotel but like a lot of European hotel the noise travel between rooms was a problem. We had a crying baby above us and the parents walking around. Unavoidable but not desirable. Ask for top floor if you stay here.

The hotel lies within walking distance of the main shopping area and train station. Rooms are well sized. I did not tryo any of the hotel services with the exception of a beer at the bar. One thing to be very careful of is the shower/bathtub - very dangerous getting in and out of. The bathrooms are ready for an update as they are dated and they should replace the tubs from a safety point of view.

Huge room but pool and air con not working

Our room was a fanastic size, giving us and our children plenty of space and the room was very clean. Even the sofa bed for the children was comfortable. The only down points were that the air conditioning didn't work properly (meaning the room was too warm) and for the first 2 weeks of August, the swimming pool was undergoing unannounced maintenance (and this was one of the main reasons why we chose this hotel so this was annoying). Staff were very friendly but there was limited range of food on the restaurant menu.

Rooms badly need refurbishment !

Room, furnitures and bathroom really need some update. We arrived hotel late in the evening and were checked in a room with bad drainage problems. Approached front desk for room change at close to 11pm but they said they need to take a look at it before arranging for room change, yet they made it clear that they would not be able to fix it right away. So what's the point of checking ?? And we were traveling with a young kid and should well be in bed at that time of the day! Anyway got room changed eventually after we refused for them to come and \"check\"!

Great hotel close to downtown Mainz

This was the second time I stayed at the Novotel. What I like about this hotel is its location close to downtown Mainz (just walk down the stairs or take the elevator) and the great pool/sauna. Rooms are sufficiently spacious and quiet (at least where our room was, facing the courtyard of the Kaestrich residential housing). Breakfast buffet is a bit expensive (18 Euro).

Nice Weekend in Mainz

We had a great time exploring Mainz and having the Novatel be our home base. The beds were very comfortable and my son enjoyed the pool most every evening while I used the workout room most every morning. If you don't mind walking, it is a 10-15 minute walk from the train station up a hill but it wasn't a bad walk, and we found it easy to explore Mainz by foot from the hotel while being far enough away from the busy traffic making for a quiet place to stay.

Our family (2 adults and 2 kids) stayed in the Novotel Mainz for 3 nights. Great stay - ended up here because we could not find a room for 4 in Frankfurt or anywhere in the Rhine where we wanted to visit. The Novotel Mainz was a great alternative - easy access to the train station and short train trips to Rhine and even Cologne. Also easy to get to the Frankfurt airport when we flew out. It is a steep uphill climb coming from the train station to the hotel but easy going back downhill. Staff was excellent and we ate in the hotel restaurant which was very good and also had a great staff. Pool/spa was a surprise and nice bonus - made for a very nice way to end the day. Thank you!
