This hotel seems very old and needs to be updated. I feel like that is the case with the area. I’m sure it was a premier place to stay back in the day and is close to many things. The general area feels runs down and I just did not enjoy it. Our best day was going to Yosemite. I did not care for San Fran much we went to several areas throughout the city and it just felt dirty. We enjoyed riding the streetcar on Powell and Hyde seeing the GG bridge. I would honestly never plan to go back.

Hotel was a little older. They recently acquired the property and have done an amazing job. Staff unbelievable, room was updated and excellent. The breakfast everyday is absolutely spectacular. I would highly recommend and will be booking it again. Did I say the location couldn’t have been better.

Everything with the hotel was great except for the water pressure! It felt like a slow leak from a hose! Everything else was great, location was excellent, breakfast had plenty of choices. I would recommend this to any traveler looking to stay near the wharf

Pros: Incredibly clean. Convenient location to Fisherman’s Wharf. Very safe. Great amenities and wonderful breakfast assortment. Cons: tiny bathrooms. Very loud location, could have used a sound machine at night to block out street (traffic) and hotel noise (doors closing).

We had 2 rooms. Parking was convenient since it was connected to the hotel. Great morning breakfast, The lobby bar and cafe were nice as well. We parked and walked to Fisherman's Warf and the Powell-Hyde Trolley.

Clean rooms. Staff was friendly. The only down fall was the really small bathrooms and the 60.00 a night garage parking. Other than that it was a very convenient place to stay with kids since its located close to the wharf.

The employees at this hotel will do whatever they possibly can to fleece you for money. DO NOT TRUST THEM. We brought a friend who was staying at another hotel to have breakfast with us at the Hotel Riu, asking the staff there if she could pay just for the food. We were told BY THE HOTEL BUFFET STAFF that we could, they shoved a piece of paper for us to sign, and only afterwards did we learn that what we signed implied that what we'd pay for our friend as if she had been a third hotel room guest with us for our ENTIRE STAY. We were literally lied to by the staff at the hotel, and then the front desk, pretty smugly I should say, told us that we were lucky we weren't paying even more. We will never return here and strongly recommend that you find somewhere else too.

Very clean. Went on a birthday trip with my wife for a long weekend. Friendly staff. Clean room. Breakfast was excellent. Location is excellent. I would book here again in a heartbeat if going to San Francisco again. Parking on site was nice as well if driving or renting a car.

Easy check in, Hotel is nice and in easy walking distance to Pier 39 and all the shops. Many choices for dining on every corner. Free breakfast is a A+ giving you multiple choices to start the day. Would recommend this hotel to stay at.

Everything was wonderful over our 3 day stay. The staff was beyond helpful and friendly. The hotel was very clean and modern. Location, location, location! It's within walking distance to so many things; both touristy, and even a local vibe if you walk just a couple of blocks up off of Fisherman's Wharf. My only complaint is small, but notable... There was no microwave in our room to reheat leftovers. That was a little frustrating, but we made do. Everything else was A+. I would stay here again, as well as recommend it to others.

Location was good. Breakfast was fresh daily but menu did not change very much. The room was nice and clean. Only issue we had was that water was not complimentary and we were expected to keep one bottle of water for four nights.

Very nice hotel in a great location. We were close enough to walk to most things. Close to get the boat to Alcatraz. Close to fisherman's wharf and all the great restaurants and shops. Close to 1st stop of the hop on hop off bus. Internet could have been a little faster but worked ok. Included breakfast in the morning was very good with plenty of selections. I would stay here again when back in San Fran.

We had 3 rooms reserved. The check in felt a bit clunky & unnecessarily long. The rooms were spacious, but the bathrooms felt very small. Laundry on site would have been great, we had to walk to a laundry mat. The bar area was very nice & we enjoyed the outdoor fire pits. The location is excellent.

Hotel was nice and clean, perfect walkable location as well. The issue come from the staffs lack of customer service when it comes to afterhours issues. We had people outside under our window partying, laughing, singing until 3:30am three of the four nights we stayed. We called the front desk numerous times and were told security would handle it, they never even went outside. If you stay here I’d make sure your room doesn’t overlook the entry driveway where the fire pits are

We were assigned a handicapped room which was not requested nor needed. Most accessible rooms like this come at a discount, but we were not offered any price reduction. The front desk staff argued with us about their description that the room was not handicapped. The bars around the shower & toilet, lack of sink counterspace & light switches 3' from the floor clearly showed the room was designed for wheelchairs.
Mgr. said they were full and we could look at another room but if we waited there would be no chance to switch. She insisted the other option would be no different than what we were checked into. We were leaving for dinner reservations and could not do this.
We were told that we would have to pay an extra unexpected $82 \"resort fee\" upon check-in that may have been in the small print. This was not part of the Expedia listed price we reserved, and was supposed to cover certain amenities like the outdoor pool people would not use during cooler temperatures (there was no outdoor hot tub). The bar tenders in the lobby bar were not attentive and gave us the impression that they didn't want to work there. Definitely less than optimal personality traits for the hospitality industry. The one positive we noticed was the breakfast buffet was very good.

Enjoyed staying here for a weekend birthday getaway! Within walking distance to Pier 39 and several good coffee shops!
Complimentary buffet breakfast was an added plus! Probably most luxurious breakfast I've had in recent memory at a hotel. Tip: Get breakfast early for freshest food!

Location was good, the grab and go in the lobby was good, and the all you can eat breakfast was also good. Downsides: there was a lot of noise coming from the room above and next door and the front desk staff was terrible. It took forever to get help when I was checking out, then they couldn't print my receipt for work and said they'd email it but I had to call to get it.

Hotel is old but well kept. Pool area is nice. We did stay in off season but managed to enjoy a few hours at pool.
Bartenders in lobby seem very unhappy with working. Watched one actually grab coffee beans with her bare hands to put on someone’s espresso martini. (Barf emoji)

Beautiful property but significant issues with our reservation. Took over 1 hours to get everything worked out. The assistant manager, Lesley, kept asking if we had booked through a 3rd party. We called the hotel directly to make the reservation. This was a family wedding. There is another one in 6 weeks. The plan was to book several rooms at your property. No chance of that after this experience.

We had a good stay at Hotel Riu Plaza Fisherman’s Wharf. The overall vibe felt very resort-like, which we really enjoyed. The property has a relaxed atmosphere, and it was a nice place to unwind after being out in the city.

The breakfast was great with plenty of options, and the staff was very sweet and welcoming throughout our stay. Everyone we interacted with was helpful and kind.

The only downside was the AC in the room. It didn’t work properly and seemed quite old. It felt like the cooling system could use an upgrade. Replacing it with a newer system would definitely improve the overall experience.

Other than that, it was a pleasant stay.

Two things that can definitely improve and get them five stars are:
-the concierge that checked me in was not very friendly. Even though I joked he did not smile and looked annoyed when I had to ask him a few questions. Definitely giving out “I don’t want to be bothered” vibes.
-the fan mode in the AC felt like it was not being cleaned or filter was not changed. I started coughing more and felt congested the whole stay whenever we’re in our room.
