Communication and location both great, as were the Sails facilities. Our only concern was the size and layout of some aspects of the two bedroom villa / eg the powder room. Very small. And not being able to use the spa jets in the bathroom, but that’s likely a short term issue. Very good location and a nice pool.

The property is located directly over the road from the beach, so the location is awesome! The Managers are friendly and there are many dining options nearby. The unit that we stayed in was quite dated and some things in the unit were not working as they should (eg. lights, hotplate). I felt that the unit was very overpriced!

Beautiful weather, great beach right out the front. Everything is within a very short distance flat walking. Fantastic walking tracks available for the more energetic. A bus serveice that is cheap operates throughout the island. New owners in the business are enthusiastic to do well. Highly recommend this place.

Wonderful stay at Horseshoe Bay, great spot for seeing the sunset. Bit dated, we had a beachfront apartment which provided a wonderful view of Horseshoe Bay. Very scenic and very peaceful. Most apartments are two story with bedrooms downstairs with living areas upstairs. Lovely place, weather fantastic, very much love to come back again.

Had an awesome 5 night stay here in a 2 br garden terrace unit. Loved that it was at the quieter end of Horseshoe Bay and right across from the beach. No driving required. Whilst it is obvious the resort is older the 2 level unit was very spacious and loved having a 2nd toilet upstairs. It had all we needed to be fully self contained and we ate every meal except 1 at the unit sitting on the balcony which had a view of the water. We arrived 2 hrs before checkin and Kathy was lovely enough to let us check in earlier and let us know they have beach chairs, towels and small eskys all for guests use which is fabulous. Apart from that we had no interaction until checkout. It was a quieter time of year on the whole island which we found lovely and even though apparently the resort was fully booked over the weekend we barely saw anyone. The pool was also great to use when we didnt feel like the beach. Overall we loved our stay here and would definitely return.

Abused and accused by Reception Staff!
I had booked accommodation for my family for the long weekend. Was raining on Friday so we all look shelter Kathy and Phil questioned me and another guest consistelny of who and how many people were staying.
The next day I came back to VISIT my family as I was staying at another accommodation. Kathy yelled out counting the amount of people. I asked her what is the problem. She then got abusive started yelling at me! Told me she was going to call the police that I had stolen a wine glass! NO Glass was stolen! She become so aggressive her Husband Phil had to stand in front of her. I have never felt so fearful of my safety! I have never in my life been abused and spoken to so poorly by any form of management.
I have found other reviews with similar problems with aggressive and professional behaviour from Kathy.

Was amazed at the amount of space this place had. Most hotels are a little cramped. Had 2 storeys with bedrooms down the bottom and kitchen, laundry and lounge up the top with a nice deck. Lovely staff. Great pool and facilities. Will definitely come back

Although they do have a car available to borrow, if I was staying again with 4 people for several days, I would probably hire a car for the freedom of exploring the island whenever we wanted. We had a lovely week. The proximity to the beach at Horseshoe Bay is wonderful, and the two bedroom apartment was clean and comfortable. Easy walk to cafe's restaurants and the Marlin Bar. Not our first time at Sails, won't be our last!

Magnetic Island is a great place to get away from everything. As I live close by it is only a short ferry ride to the island and then a short bus ride to where I was staying.

Nice comfy older style units next to beach and near the skate park which is why we booked it. My 13yo son is a mad keen skater. Phil the male manager was friendly and helpful to us.

On the downside I could only access the jeep twice briefly over six days so gave up and booked a rental car. Also the units are townhouse style with a steep set of stairs which was an issue for my bad knee.
All the door handles and locks also seem to be really stiff as well and my son nearly got stuck in the upstairs bathroom. Stiff door handles a real problem for anyone with tennis elbow like me. So the place is a bit tired and needs some work. WiFi was limited to two half-hour blocks a day too and since it was raining for two days I had to pay for the weekly package. Overall only three stars from me.

The Sails on Horseshoe Apartments were perfectly positioned on Horseshoe Bay, and were the ideal place to get away from it all and wind down on Magnetic Island.

Great hotel and perfect spot to stay in
Me and my boyfriend stayed there for 9 days and it was amazing. Right outside the beach and just up the road was the restaurants and an IGA and some other little stores. It had everything we needed even extra beach towels and a selection of DVD's to watch. The only thing I could say is the air conditioner above the bed kept on dripping, which was very annoying.
