Bedroom was lovely, bright and bright overlooking the gardens.
Kettle and selection of teas in the room with milk in the small fridge below. Hairdryer also in room, located inside wardrobe.
Lounge had comfortable seating and decor very impressive (beautiful wood carved).
Staff were very friendly and helpful.
A great option available for breakfast too.
Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

This hotel is centrally located and ideal to travel to the many sites near by. The staff could of been more helpful when we experienced issues with our traveling companions' room entry card that needed to be re-coded several times over our 5 day stay.

We had to wait beyond the 3pm check in to get in our room. We were exhausted having come over on the overnight ferry from Shetland.
We took our dog and the dog rooms are a 5 to 8 minute walk with you luggage include going up a floor and back down. There was no offer of help. Our room keys failed twice. The 2nd time I rang reception and got them.to bring them down.When we checked out the receptionist said it was probably because the battery in the door needed changing!
The room itself was big and comfy. There was a fridge. The bathroom was new and nice. Blackout curtains.
The spa area was also a 10 min walk from our room including having to go outside.
The breakfast was ok. Self service.
The hotel has a lot of functions so make sure you are nowhere near the ballroom or bar if you want quiet.

We started off with a lovely afternoon tea, then checked into our lovely and spacious room. We were delighted to find that it had a fridge for us to keep our fizz chilled. We then had a lovely walk around the hotel grounds and went for a bar dinner. The menu was extensive and well priced. The hotel was buzzing, which we didn’t expect for a Sunday night, so great atmosphere. Would highly recommend!

We recently stayed at Ardoe House Hotel & Spa and had a lovely time exploring the gorgeous 30-acre estate and historic mansion grounds. The character of the building is fantastic, and it is full of beautiful local heritage.
The breakfast offered a good selection of options and everything served was fresh, which was a nice start to the morning. The staff were also very welcoming and helpful when we were navigating the property and looking at the various historic function suites.
The only downside to our stay was that our room was not quite as clean as we would have expected for a hotel of this standard. It just needed a bit more attention to detail during the changeover. However, the rest of the hotel's charm, the great atmosphere, and the lovely grounds still made for an enjoyable visit.

Overall a nice stay at this hotel.

Pros:
- Beautiful house, the architecture and furnishings are simply gorgeous and for that alone its worth it.
- Has a pool
- You get lots of scottish snacks (irn bru, caramels, haggis crisp)
- Cleaning staff / Restaurant staff were super friendly and welcoming, very cheery.
- Big bed
- Great parking and nature all around.

Cons
-We were a bit underwhelmed with our room. Online it said bath but it was just shower. Bathroom had earwigs on the floor. Shower had visible water / mould damage.
- i sent a message asking if any extra touches could be included for my wifes birthday, even just a note when we got into the room, but got ignored and nothing was added.
- Reception staff was young girls who were polite but werent the friendliest, very quiet and never smiled.
- Has a pool but with the swimming lesson timetables its very busy and the small pool is cut into 5 sections. We were excited to go swimming but in the end we left without using it as it was too busy. Disappointing.
- ALLERGIES. So this one is a huge one. I told the waiter at breakfast that i have nut allergies and he went away to check with kitchen. He came back and told me everything is fine for me to eat, theres no may contains, no traces, no nuts in the kitchen, im free to eat whatever I want. Was so happy about this but when i got to the pastery section at breakfast everything said may contain walnuts / hazelnuts/ pecan / almonds / pistachios.

Let me start with the positives; the food and afternoon tea were absolutely fantastic and the positive feedback ends sadly

Negatives; unclean and mouldy pool and spa area, never enough staff to assist and huge delays in response. Waiting staff extremely helpful although clearly overworked and under staffed.

The whole experience which should have been a treat was awful. The room provided was dirty and again filthy. The living areas and reception rooms were freezing and on request for the fire to be lit I was informed that as the chimney had been swept it would not be lit. In the end my family and I left and did not stay the night. Even at the end there was no reception staff to advise and I had to leave the key on counter!

Staff in the spa were not so helpful or friendly. Wasn’t advised how to use the facilities e.g the lockers etc asked for prices for treatments was told to check on line.

The room was spotlessly clean a few light patches on the carpet but very well maintained the staff were welcoming and the choice of breakfast menu was amazing my friend and opted for a full Scottish breakfast which was cooked to perfection and so tasty there was a selection of buns croissants and yogurts and fruit if you wanted a healthy breakfast. The bathroom was very nice I ordered the products online which I do after every visit which are provided in the bathroom and we indulged in the spa in the evening we opted for an afternoon tea with the view to a late dinner later in the evening but the afternoon tea was so delicious and filling we did not need dinner. parking was secure and complimentary and there is ample parking albeit a small distance walk. I paid £20 each for my six year old dog and my 14 week old pup to join me in our room and my dogs got a huge welcome from reception and the grounds are fabulous for a walk dogs are welcome in the drawing room to eat and enjoy a drink so five Star for dog friendliness thank you so much ardoe house hotel and spa team we will definatly be back.

On arrival, staff were welcoming and pleasant. Room was comfy but needing some TLC from maintenance.
No towels so had to call down to reception, then later that evening we noticed no toiletries, tea of coffee. Informed reception who said they’d look into it but nothing….not even an apology! Luckily we had our own toiletries and went without hot drink in our room.
Food was lovely although items were missing from mine and my husbands meal that were mentioned on the menu.
All in all, a pleasant stay but seems like simple things are being missed which would make this stay better.
Did not use the spa so unable to comment.

We really enjoyed our stay the reception staff were very helpful on arrival and stored our cases until check in. Similarly the bar staff were very welcoming and we had a lovely relaxing time at the spa and thoroughly enjoyed our treatments. Our rooms were perfect and very comfortable the shower was so easy to use. In the evening our meal was great as was the service. Again in the morning breakfast was of a high standard and the staff very helpful. We enjoyed a walk in the grounds after check out.

Ardoe House is an affordable, average hotel in a grand former home. The rooms are comfortable and spacious. The breakfast buffet has a wide selection with the cooked food being particularly flavoursome.

The drawing room is a nice area to settle down in, despite the peculiar elevator music. The bar is well stocked with knowledgeable, if a little indifferent, bartenders on hand to create cocktails.

The pool and fitness area are in a separate building and are in fact the community’s local leisure point, so it lacks the quietude you might expect from a hotel-only setup.

In all, the property is rather tired. It’s got wear and gloominess in places. The staff are doing their best to keep the wheels turning, but they all look broken, apart from those on reception who are energetic and very helpful. It’s essentially a 3-star that has pipped into the 4-star bracket because there’s a pool next door. For the price though, it is a pleasant enough stay, and would serve you well for a night or two.

A truly glowing review for Ardoe House Hotel & Spa

We stayed as a party of five across three rooms from 14 to 16 April, and this was an absolute find.

The hotel is magnificent — a stunning 19th-century Baronial mansion set within beautiful 30-acre grounds with sheep in the fields. It's a peaceful countryside retreat, yet just five miles from Aberdeen.

Our rooms were spacious, modern, beautifully decorated, and spotlessly clean, with tea/coffee, fridge, safe, iron, hairdryer, and quality bathroom toiletries.

Breakfast was a delight — a well-cooked, tasty buffet with hot and cold options, regularly replenished.

The gym is modern and well-equipped. The indoor pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, and steam room were excellent — even with swimming lessons taking place, there was still ample space.

Parking was plentiful, despite the hotel being busy, and the staff were friendly throughout.

Ardoe House is a gem. Beautiful history, modern comforts, and wonderful grounds. We'll definitely be back.

The receptionist was far from welcoming - very matter of fact. I enquired to see if there was any cancellation with a dog friendly room - shrugged her shoulders and that was a no - not even I am sorry.
Bar staff where we could take a dog was over the top - as we walked in announced to whole bar we were walking in - there was a very loud child approx 9 yrs old who he was encouraging to be even louder - we moved table.
We have stayed here a few times but will not be back.

Unfortunately, the menu prices were a bit steep which isn't a problem when the food is excellent, but we found ours not so with various parts microvaved. There were a few disappointing aspects to our stay. The room appeared to not have been dusted properly, with spiderwebs along the curtains and thick dust layers on the photos above the bed. The bed was found with no mattress protector and a sheet that didn’t even fit the bed which also had holes and dirt marks. There was only shampoo in the bathroom and the coffee machine was broken. When asking at reception for the bed to be remade and raising the issues found, there was no apology and quite a blunt response of “I’ll call housekeeping”. Found in the room after that were loose papers of what seemed to be gas safety reports, all which seem to just be photocopied and one had inappropriate language on it.
The food at breakfast was fine, but the lunch that was part of a “Spa Delight Package” was mediocre with cold, dry cooked chicken that we worry was the reason for my partners food poisoning.
The spa itself was disappointing but the massages were good. Only after booking, in small print, was the information that the pool is also shared- very regularly- with baby and children’s swimming lessons, in what world is that relaxing? The gym above the massage rooms provided not-so soothing banging noises of people chucking weights in the gym. When booking the spa, there are no time options available so you get whatever they slot you in as, for example my partner was at 12pm and I at 3pm, meaning no other plans were able to be made in the day as there were no other slots available.

From the moment we arrived to when we left could not fault anything. Room was spacious, clean, staff were all very pleasant. Breakfast was plentiful and any special requests was not a problem. Didn’t use restaurant as price range for us was just a little too dear but that’s to be expected for a 4 star I assume. Used the gym, jacuzzi and the pool, but not the other spa facilities so cannot comment. Gym had plenty, varied equipment and the pool was warm (ish) and clean. Staff here were also very pleasant and extremely helpful. We stayed for 3 nights at a fantastic rate and only wished we could afford to stay longer. Daughter and I had a great stay and a well deserved recharge of the batteries after her prelims.
