This great hotel adjoins the City Arcade, with Woolworths, a chemist, hairdresser, bottleshop and other shops. Very close to everything in the city centre. The temperaturewas kept perfect by the airconditioner. Lovely rooms. Friendly staff. Very clean. Comfortable beds. Slept the best in ages.

Parking non existent, my fault upon not looking into it at booking. Room was average. Fridge not on so hot at arrival. Bathroom had a big open dusty vent. Bed was comfortable. Hopefully they are renovating the rooms as dated and obviously a construction site with the banging in the morning and plaster remnants everywhere. Staff were pleasant enough though I wouldn’t stay again as location was nothing special either.

To begin with there was no signage at the front of the building just had to identify by pictures on the website

Upon arrival to the room, I was disappointed to find that there was only a double bed when I ordered a queen room

Furniture was quite outdated

This is where the problem started the bathroom. The wall is definitely had a lot of issues with big chunks coming off it. The biggest issue was the mould. There was mould throughout the bathroom and all over the hand held hairdryer, including the plug that plugs into the wall. The walls in the shower were dirty with used shower gel. The drain didn’t drain we had to stand there in our own water. The shower gel was empty.

I wasn’t aware that there was refurbishments being done in the building but we became aware of that when we arrived at the building however we were woken up at 6 am with drilling going on in the building and was not able to go back to sleep

Upon check out there was two people at the reception and they seem more concerned about getting our key back rather than asking how our stay was

We had booked a second night for 15 December however we have since cancelled that as I would not come back to that hotel based on all of the above.

Very, very disappointing. It would be great if I could get my money back.

Very tatty looking place - worn carpet in hall, chipped paint across all doorways and doors.
Bedroom looked unloved with old furniture, curtains not hanging properly.
Main issue was extremely poor kitchen facilities - very hard to be self-sufficient in a hotel when there is NO fork, knife, spoon, plate or bowl. This meant I couldn't not eat my breakfast here and had to take it to the office. When asked at the desk was advised they don't provide cutlery!
On arrival soap & shampoo containers in shower and bathroom were almost empty and had to ask for them to be replaced even though my room was attended to each day. For some reason room service kept replacing my towels each day even though these were hung up and not required (waste of unnecessary laundry).
Bedroom window (large sliding window) could be opened fully! Am extremely surprised at this and surely this should be a WH&S issue - someone could absolutely throw themselves out of the window from 5th floor.
On a positive note: the room/bathroom was clean.

I was passing through town for work and booked this last minute without knowing there was a sporting event on which meant there wasnt much to choose from and prices were higher than normal, but $330 for this room was an absolute joke! The room had dirty walls and carpet and smelled entirely of cigarettes, after a few minutes I had to walk out as the smell was so overpowering. When I requested to be moved the receptionist first offered to just go spray air freshener. Whilst i think she was genuinely trying to be helpful it just showed how low the standard for cleanliness was as no amount of air freshner was changing the stench of that room! Eventually she took me to a different room which was better, however the room was also old and dingy and the carpet looks like its never been cleaned. There was also a pile of rubbish and used linen dumped outside my door. On top of this it was an extra $15 to park around the corner in an unsecured lot.

The room smelt horrendous, a strong mix of mould and harsh chemicals that made it impossible to stay comfortably. It was clearly not properly cleaned or maintained. When I raised the issue, the staff were completely unhelpful and refused to offer a refund. I would never stay here again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Save your money and go elsewhere.

My stay at this hotel was extremely disappointing. The place did not match the description on the website at all. The room was unclean from the moment we arrived the bed sheets already had stains on them, and the staff failed to provide any proper housekeeping throughout our entire stay. We literally slept on the same sheets for the whole week. When we asked for room service, we were only given fresh towels, and the old ones were left in the room instead of being taken for washing.

There were cockroaches in the room, and the entire hotel had an unpleasant odour. It was also very difficult to sleep at night due to the constant noise coming from outside. By the second day, we were already looking for a different hotel.

I would not recommend this place to anyone. It needs serious improvements in cleanliness, management, and customer service.

Madison plaza is in the city hub so it is convenient to all forms of transport.
The staff go above and beyond to help with any enquiries you have.
The only down side is no microwave. However alot of restraunts within walking distance from Madison plaza.

I checked in and my room had bed bugs. We had just settled and felt something crawling on me. I had a large red bed bug and then the head board had several of them and little whiteish yellow looking like lice. I let the front desk know and they had not other rooms and the person at the desk could do anything for me. I was told to email the manager. I had to check out to another hotel at midnight with my family and find another hotel. I have submitted an email to the manager and no response. I have submitted a complaint to hotels.com and I have been told they can not do anything about it as they have not received a response from the vendor and can not overturn the hotel polices. I was in room 301 I would not recommend this hotel as they do not care about their guests. That room needs to be fumigated and treated. Also they are notes as two hotels The Chiefly and Madison be warned. They are still charging me for both of my nights if my reservation.

Three nights in a row people incredibly loud in corridor. Leaving rooms to not disturb guess their spous-long loud phone calls. Others leaving for perhaps mining flights etc. 20 minute briefs-I timed one...
I with recent shoulder surgery not really wanting to stick head out and ask politely to pipe down.
Yes could have complained to a poor desk staff, perhaps got a discount.
There was also a special needs person on floor, didnt want their occasional outburst-which had sympathy for see them face grief for the other multiple loud hallway traffic.
As part refit-put in a noise detector...
I am ex Artillery so a little deaf btw.

Blanket policy...
Is not the daily rate plus the swiped 200 security enough for a blanket without going to reception to deposit 25?
If really must do it-tell people on check in...
Hopefully post refit a toaster be in room.
Or on day two and three the nice person who emptied bin, chuck couple coffee and sugar to refill.
Sorry for verbose input.
Nice polite desk staff-but did not complain at 2-6am

Easy street parking now in the off season (early August). We had a family room-one closed bedroom with a queen bed, there is a double bed and a single bed in the spacious common area. The common room has 2 armchairs that could use new upholstery and a desk. Lots of light. Toilet has its own room-convenient for multiple people. The bathroom was newly renovated-new tiles, new shower and new vanity-all very nice. The shower head is only a rain shower so bring a shower cap if you don’t want to wet your hair. The shower water pressure was great. Walls a little thin and you can hear outside traffic because of single pane windows. But in the closed bedroom you can’t hear the other guests in the hotel. The teenagers sleeping in the common room hear nothing when asleep. The beds were comfortable enough and big bonus-enough pillows provided for 2 each-this is rare! The place was fine for sleeping and exploring Townsville.

Very poor condition with the bedding. The pillows were disgusting looked and felt like 50 years old.
The quilt had holes in it and no cover just a sheet laid over it. When the neighbours showered the noise in our room was disgusting it was that loud and not from the people, it was the shower running noise. No PowerPoint for the bedside lamp on one side of the bed. When the staff cane in and changed the towels they didn't touch the bed😔
The $500 hold on the credit card is a bit over the top as well.

Great location, very close to Cowboys Leagues Club and a short walk to Palmer St. No onsite parking and the allocated off-site parking was full so we had to park on the street, was a mission trying to find close parking especially on NRL game day. Room was clean, bathroom has some water damage wear and tear but it was the BEST shower pressure ever.

Also staff were very friendly, we checked in with Shay.

I am extremely disappointed and disgusted with our recent stay at Madison Plaza Townsville. We found TEN cockroaches in our room — a serious hygiene issue that made the space completely unfit for staying. This wasn’t an isolated issue, and it left us feeling unsafe and distressed.

We checked out three days early and immediately contacted management, expecting at the very least an apology and a refund for the unused nights. Instead, we were told “it is what it is,” and our concerns were completely brushed off. There was no accountability, no apology, and no attempt to make things right. They simply didn’t care.

This is not how any hotel — let alone one charging for comfortable accommodation — should treat paying guests. The combination of poor cleanliness and even worse customer service is unacceptable.

If you care about hygiene, comfort, or being treated with even basic respect, avoid this place at all costs. I’m writing this review so that other travelers are aware of how horrible our experience was. Don’t let it happen to you.

The staff were efficient and friendly. My room was nice and clean, although it wasn't fancy and in need of a face lift, like myself. It was very comfortable and quiet on the top floor so slept like a baby. My 2nd visit at the Madison Plaza and i would stay there again when visiting my son as it's in a perfect location to get around with the 50 cent bus fares, also priced well if you're just looking for somewhere clean to place your head down at night.

Needs a smoking area. Felt unsafe going outside at night.
Need to check batteries.
If you're depressed, dont stay here. Windows open, even on the 5th floor.
No undercover parking.

Young employees dont acknowledge you.

Maddison Plaza was a well priced, convenient night stay in Townsville. The room was clean and well appointed. We did find the pillows a bit too flat and there were no spare pillows. The TV kept turning off constantly also and had to turned on again. Apart from those minor issues it was a good stay.
