Property is very old and dated but clean. Family room would benefit from the addition of electric frying pan/benchtop cooker and a larger fridge.
Proximity to staff entry for restaurant made our room quite noisy late at night.
Location was great. Right across from lagoon and beach & The Strand restaurants within an easy walk.
Staff were super friendly and helpful.

We had a Wonderful stay! Location was Excellent and directly across from the Beach. Many Cafes and Restaurants were in short walking distance as well as onsite Restaurant which was Exceptional!! Lots to do as well visiting Magnetic Island, which was a highlight. Staff were always very helpful and its Pet Friendly as I travelled with my Service Dog over Easter which they welcomed us very warmly. We definitely would stay again, infact looking at returning soon as it was so relaxing. Thankyou to all Staff who made us feel special from us, Shirley and Coco

Be wary when handing over a cash security deposit.
I checked out early before reception was open. Called them about the security deposit and they said they'd return the security deposit onto my card or bank transfer it. I flew out of Townsville thinking my security deposit would be refunded that day. I called them up after flying home to confirm the return of my security deposit. A different girl answered the phone & said they can't return cash. They would hold my money in a client account at the Motel for next time I come back & stay. They've gone against what they told me. Is this even legal? I'm not returning to Townsville. Was there briefly for a family funeral. I'm waiting on the manager to call me back and sort this out. They said she's busy with meetings and could take 3 days. I said I'd be calling tomorrow. Hopefully this should be sorted out.

Fantastic Motel with easy check-in as the staff member was friendly and polite.
Great location where you just walk out the front and beach is right there. Prelnty of places to eat, drink or just chilling on the sand grass.
Rooms a clean, comfortable beds, great water pressure and hot showers.

WiFi was not working. This has been happening for the past Month or more. on my many visits to this Motel. Advertised as free WiFi, Kept dropping out. I could not watch a movie on TV. Laptop kept stopping from No WiFi. I couldnt even check emails.
If you advertise FREE WiFi Make sure there is decent WiFi Connection.

We booked a budget family room, I didn't realise budget now means run down and dirty.
Other than the linen on our bed, the room was filthy.
Dust bunnies hanging from a rusty fan, freezer so over frozen I could barely open in, hole in the wall, toilet paper shoved in the gaps in the window, layers of dust on the lights and window sills.
It was just a mess.
I raised my concerbs with recep8who was initially defensive and told me I booked a budget room, which I found unacceptable.
My kids did want to stay so we checked out.
About 45 mins later, reception apologised and admitted the room wasn't to standard. The only saving grace in this situation. Only then did he offer a free room upgrade, but we had already made other plans

Arrived just at 5:05 so key was in a key safe. On finding our room, it hadn't been cleaned and had the last guest's linen still on the bed. Rang the overnight number and got told to see the restaurant staff and they luckily could give us a key to another room. The room was clean but dated, it was a cheap price though. The location was excellent for the Strand, easy walk along the beach to restaurants and shops.

Shore drive is absolutely the best accommodation we have booked on our many trips to Townsville. The staff gonout of their way to help if possible and are very understanding of changes in plans and the comfort of their guests. Our pets are always relaxed here and our elderly mum's health needs are acknowledged and accomodated where possible. Definitely recommend this gem on the beach

Interior was great! Nice size, extra clean and comfy sheets, comfy bed and pillows, extra large bathroom and shower with, clean towels, nice space to place your toiletries. Nice large side view of the ocean and boardwalk. The pool and exterior need upgrade but all was well inside. Nice welcoming staff. Great value! Tv, fridge, microwave and water kettle with starter coffee, tea, milk. Very pleased.

For what we wanted, ie, cheap, convenient, one night it was ok.
Very tired, damaged and basic room but the shower worked, extras such as tea and coffee provided and comfortable beds.
Noisy trolley with bottles late at night could be dealt with. I think the pool was clean but not at all inviting. Terrible curtains. We had to rig up some towels to keep the light out for sleeping.
Would not stay again, bad ambience.

The Shoredrive is a very basic motel on the Strand - very nice location but the room was very basic and dated. We loved being across from the playground and the cafe on the corner served nice food and coffee.

The room itself could use some renovating, the beds were okay, but the pillows were flat like a pancake and made for a very uncomfortable sleep.

The bathroom was okay but old and needed renovating (chipped sink, shower curtain made the whole shower very dark and dingy, shower was old school and hard to get water temp right though the pressure was good) and on top of that the whole room had tiny ants everywhere that got into our luggage and bags.

Lastly, there it was noisy from about 6AM - garbage trucks coming in to the skips beside our room, people yelling, just overall not a relaxing stay. There was also no Do Not Disturb sign to put out, so they entered our room just to replace 2 towels which we didn't require for a 2 night stay.

Property on arrival was dirty & unmaintained. Was sent a text to say get key from box marked 'key pick up' No such sign on box, had to guess. Buttons did not work, took 3 goes to open. Room was uninviting & shabby. Couch was worn & filthy (did not sit on). No coffee table. Tape on floor by the door. Fridge was rusty. Kettle could not be filled in sink as it was too big, had to be held under shower head to fill. Shower was disgustingly mouldy on all walls & black mould on ceiling. Toilet paper holder almost falling off. Could not properly do dishes in undersized sink as there was no plug. Sink hole was rusty. Pool was peeling & filthy (did not go in). This property was worth $100 AT BEST. $160 was a complete rip off. Would not recommend.

I found the Motel, very outdated. There were cracks in the hand basin in the bathroom, no soap supplied, no tissues. The bed was very comfortable, the room was clean, had an issue with the TV remote, could not get it to to off 1 channel, the back didn’t fit on properly. I walked over at 4.59pm to tell the receptionist, to see her duck out the door very quickly.It was resolved the next day by another lady with a different remote. Good location opposite the beach. Restaurant was great, very convenient, very busy. I’m sorry but I would not stay there again. The picture on the ad Is obviously of the newer section at the front, my room looked nothing like that.

The position of the motel was great, oposite the strand and well within reach of really nice restaurants. Including the Shorehouse restaurant, which as great.
The room its 5 out of 10 for everything. Everything half worked or was half serviceable. For the price you are well and truly there for the area.
I particularly hated that there was no insde lock, chain, or door bolt. That the sliding doir blinds would flap all night with air-conditioning directly above it and Tv position wouldnt allow comfortable viewing in any position in the room.
Like i said everything was 5 out of 10.
I would say the afterhours service when power failed in room was great 30minutes to correct was good.

The room was good but the fuse blew and couldn't be fixed so I was moved to another room. The wiring in that room was wrong so that the fan didn't work, so I was moved to another room. That room was good. They refunded one day of the fee to cover the inconvenience. Overall a good place to stay, although I had some issues.

Reception was closed for lunch without a time when they would return (which was 2pm), then a further wait for her to check the room. Drinking glasses were dirty (lipstick marks), the wifi password was not given and when asked, I was told that the sign was "definitely in the room" - which it wasnt. Police banged on our door at 11pm to ask about a disturbance downstairs.

We booked a 3 night stay but left after 1. (Would have left straight away but couldn’t secure alternative accommodation due to football match in town) Room 28 was disgusting. We stepped over cigarette butts, macadamia nut shells and rubbish to get in the front door. The lounge chair was horrendous. It was filthy and had a sheet of plywood underneath the cushions. The curtains were filthy. There was gaffe tape on the floor holding the lino down. The fan looked like it would fall out of the ceiling at any time. The pillow protector was yellow with stains. The place was awful. Definitely would NOT RECOMMEND.

Very poor experience.
Place was dirty, hallways and adjoining room under renovation or gutted. Stained walls and furniture and mould on ceilings in both bedrooms. A roach dropped out of one of the towels when one was opened. Fan and aircon didn't work in the living room nor the dust encrusted exhaust fan in bathroom. We called to report this and no one got back to us. Only positives were the location is on the Strand and the bed was comfortable.
