Very good. Many positives. Not cheap but worth the extra $ to have a beach view room imo. Nice people running and operating it. all very friendly and relaxed. The biggest and easiest improvement would be to upgrade breakfast. It's a very basic continental and could be so much better with some small improvements. The office closes early as well and whilst you have the owner's number if you need anything you tend not to want to disturb him (or at least I didnt) for general info etc.

Great pool, staff, breakfast. Right on the beach with easy snorkelling, bright fish. shop and hire cars across the road. Restaurant food ok .Waterline bar down the beach great for cheaper eats drinks and vibe. Roosters continual through the night, some mosquitos.No little kids. Overall great would stay again

We stayed at Manuia Beach 30 years ago, and returned for our 30th Wedding Anniversary. The new OTB restaurant was popular, and dinner bookings were necessary. Continental breakfast included, cooked breakfast available also. Poolside dining for lunch available. Several other dining options available within walking distance. In House tours and transport to market. Grounds maintained every day. Always seating around the pool area. Adults only hotel (over 16 age cut off) so very relaxed and quiet while we were there. Thank you Ross and all your lovely folks who took care of us so well.

Manuia Beach Resort is the best resort! We will not stay anywhere else when visiting Raro. The staff are the best and provide friendly excellent service. The resort itself is absolutely breathtaking with white sand all around the resort and an infinity pool overlooking the crystal clear lagoon/ocean.
Cannot rate Manuia any higher!!

The Manuia Resort is a fantastic place to stay. The staff are really friendly and helpful - nothing seems too much trouble. It's quiet and has no children, a plus for me. Beautiful infinity pool, snorkels and kayaks to borrow, comfy loungers to enjoy the sun or shade on the beach or around the pool. Great restaurant with a delicious range of dishes though it is expensive. Continental and cooked breakfast in the beachside restaurant was included in our clean, gorgeous room's price. The huge plus though is the location. Amazing beachfront units with palms and lush gardens from which we enjoyed the ocean and pool view as well as the passing whales. A few more and cheaper bar snack-style food offerings would make it pretty much perfect. Not the cheapest place I've stayed but I would go back in a heartbeat.

The hotel had everything you wanted for a great holiday. It was just a shame that our complimentary pick up from the airport never arrived as expected,also nobody showed us to our room and there was no goodwill gesture offered even though there was a weak apology for their mistake. Otherwise everything else was fine and we very much enjoyed our stay.

This is a lovely quiet resort. The rooms were nice with lots of space and an outdoor shower which was pretty great. Beautiful pool and one restaurant on site. The night we arrived, we tried to get a drink in the bar and some dinner but they were quite busy and asked us to try somewhere else. This has never happened to me before, we were quite tired but walked down the road for dinner. Only dined in the restaurant once, the food was lovely. Breakfast was pretty limited. Pancakes, toast, fruit and cereal. If you arrived after 9am then most of the fruit was gone and they didn't seem to replenish it.
We had an ant problem in one of our rooms so had to move out to another room. We all ended up in one room for the night as reception was closed (limited hours) and there was no one to help. Mary in particular was wonderful with shifting the girls to their new room and even doing our washing after our buggy ride. Staff were very friendly and helpful and this is a beautiful location to relax and enjoy the views.

The staff was extremely kind and helpful! We had a 10am check out but our flight did leave until 11:55pm. We were able to use all of the resorts amenities after check out. There is a guest lounge that we left our luggage in. It had clean towels and a shower for guest that have checked out.
The only problem we had was the room had red ants. We informed the front desk and they had someone look into the ants.

It was OK but was it worth the cost?

Our stay was OK but in our opinion it was not 4 star and definitely not worth $390 per night. The bed was comfortable but the sheets were pilled; the outdoor shower was excellent, the bathroom looked like it had been recently upgraded but the curtains were not black-out, the hems were diwn and there was lots of dust etc visible under the bed; tea and coffee making facilities were available as was a bar fridge and air con. The gardens were beautifully kept and there's a great restaurant on site. A basic breakfast is available as part of the room charge.
A car/bike hire office is opposite and the once per hour bus runs oast the driveway. There is no free wifi and the swimming pool was surprisingly very cold. Reef shoes are available for walking in the lagoon.

Resort much more private/exclusive than some of the larger resorts that we checked out. Rooms exceptionally clean and comfortable and serviced daily. Great restaurant, great staff, great location, great pool, great entertainment. Snorkelling is okay in front of the resort but better in some other areas. I would definitely stay here again next time. Loved it.

The property was very nice, the staff and owners are great. There is a church shuttle on Sunday that drops you off at the Catholic Church or CICC. We went to CICC and it was nice. Our room was listed as beach front, but we had the pool in front of our place which is not a big deal, but it’s ocean view. We were in room 6 and my only real complaint is that it’s basically right behind the OTB restaurant which was really good. There is some noise in the evening and as the place is closing down.

We recommend going on the Tuesday mystery tour with Sue the owner, it was great. Drinks with management on the beach was also a fun time.

One thing we would have liked to seen is the airport transfers included in the price of the room, it seemed like a big side expense per person for the distance to and from the airport.

Overall this was a great place to stay and we would definitely go back. With room availability, we were allowed to have an extended checkout at 9pm for a small fee which was a big bonus.

Stayed at Manuia Beach for 4 days. Nice setting on the west side of the island, less tourists around. Great restaurant overlooking the beach and ideal for sunset. Breakfast is standard buffet with cereal and toast. We stayed in the Garden suite, although not directly overlooking the beach but only 4 steps away, can hear the ocean at night. Lots of roosters roaming around and wake you up at 4am(same everywhere). Th suite has an outdoor shower which is quite cool, just watch out for bugs. The staff were very friendly and helped us organising diving course, they also arranged to pick us up for our late arrival flight past midnight, check in and check out was easy. Overall a nice place to stay. I recommend you hiring a car to drive around the island and go to Muri beach(east side)where all the lagoons are. There are a couple of diving and snorkelling spots on the west side, but there are more on the bottom of the island and east side. The views are probably better around these areas.

A lovely relaxing holiday with lovely gardens and the beach front restaurant and pool excellent. Definitely will be booking to come back. We were lucky enough to see out the front of the Resort a couple of whales on the other side of the reef enjoying themselves. The point of difference with the sandy floor in the Restaurant and the outdoor showers in our units was great experience. Thank you.

This was a great location for sunsets and beachfront eating and relaxing by the pool. The accomodation was comfortable but not luxury, however the service was very friendly. A good location to be near shops, airport, port, markets and there is a car and scooter rental across the road which was very affordable. Overall good experience.

10 days in near paradise

Having never been to the Cook Islands before we really did not know what to expect. What we found was a picture perfect and intimate Resort right on the beach with a very friendly staff and owner who went out of their way to make us feel at home.. They even found a lovely cat to seal the deal. Restaurant food was of a very high standard, weather was great, infinity pool a joy (child free) - bottom line we could not have asked for more. If we ever get back to Rarotonga we know where we will be staying.

Manuia Stay a Delight (again)

My hubby and I returned to Rarotonga for our 25th Wedding Anniversary and stayed at Manuia where we stayed the first time. We loved it, the staff were lovely, the food delicious, the room was clean and the bed comfy! The only thing wrong was I didn't want to go home! We plan to return in the near future and would be happy to stay at Manuia again!

Great Resort - OTB Restaurant was a disappointment

The resort was beautiful - we had Villa 5 - close to the pool, beach and restaurant. Alex and Chris were amazing hosts (filling in for Sue who was away).

The only disappointment was the On the Beach Restaurant and Bar - apparently it is not owned by the Resort so entirely a separate entity. There were a lot of disgruntled customers as service was very, very slow or no service at all. At times we could not find staff to serve us. No service by the pool area, there were no Island nights or afternoon finger foods as advertised by the Restaurant. A couple of nights we waited over 1.5 hours for our meal (and not busy in restaurant), other nights some of the guests were forgotten altogether or the staff completely ignored your table.

This was an Adults Only resort but communication between the Restaurant and Resort caused issues as resort guests ended up asking children and visitors who were not paying guests of Resort to exit pool etc...

This was mentioned to the hosts of the Resort (Alex and Chris) who tried to sort things with the owners of the restaurant but things only improved when Alex and Chris were there (they did much of the work themselves).

We were looking for a quiet, secluded place close to the beach, and we weren't disappointed. The friendly staff were a bonus, as was the no-children booking policy. There were a few hiccups in the restaurant, and the food prices were on the high side, but I would certainly stay again and recommend the resort to others.

A beautiful tranquil place to stay.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this property this time it has new owners who are friendly helpful and care about the public and what they think. only downful was the bugs take plenty of insect repleant as there is little ants that bit you and mossies as well which are real painful insects, spray your pillow yourself and the part of the bed where they will land. would recommend this hotel for good food good service and friendly staff who cannot do enough for you, peaceful and private and you could spend your whole stay just there.

A beautiful, relaxing place to visit. Previous reviews have suggested the breakfast menu could be more varied and I agree if you are staying for any length of time. Likewise with the dinner menu. Location and staff make up for this though. If you are looking for a relaxing, quiet stay with views of the ocean then this is the place for you. I totally unwound here and would have stayed longer given half a chance! Staff were delightful, always smiling and pleased to see you. I'll be back again as soon as I can!

We stayed for 9 nights, wish we could stay for a bit longer. Beautiful location. Quite and relaxing as it's audlt only. Nothing too much trouble for the staff, they go out of their way to make sure yoj have an fantastic stay. Facilities are really good, really clean. Marine reserve right in front, great for snorkeling. Great daily activities, especially the around the island tour. Enjoy watching the sunset while having cocktails. Can't wait to go back.

Relax by the beach

What a wonderful experience we have had, from Victor greeting us at the airport with a beautiful scented neckless of fresh flowers, to Lotu being efficient at reception..Sue the owner spending time with us to give us hints on what to do & a little tour of the island, the lovely man making sure every morning that the gardens were beautiful and the staff at the restaurant making our stay very enjoyable, we felt very well looked after so all we had to do is enjoy and relax. I had fresh papaya, bananas and coconut every day! The resort is beautiful, fantastic setting and brilliant layout: you relax on the deck by the infinity pool which overlooks the beach, all day sun, beautiful sunsets, fantastic snorkeling, for several days we have been watching the whales passing by...I cannot really find one bad thing about it. If you want to relax, this place is truly magical. I loved the sand floor restaurant, not warn any shoes for the whole time we were there! Food was good and not too expensive. Restaurants are in the area and you can get a car/scooter or bus that takes you around the island if you want to venture out. I will give you a 10 out of 10.

A fabulous boutique hotel with basic but comfortable duplex accomodation. Not the big resort but adults only, superb entertaining overlooking the pool with ocean views. Sheltered and the best spot for sunsets in rarotonga. We'd definitely stay here again.

The staff were very friendly & helpful. Not too many guests like some of the larger resorts, made our stay a lot more relaxing. We enjoyed the island experience that they run on a Wednesday night-learn how to make Ika Mata (raw fish) husk a coconut, make a head Ei(flower head gear) which finished up with an Umu dinner.
A great place to stay to get away from it all!

Great sunset views

This is a very nice hotel with excellent staff. The pool overlooking the ocean is beautiful. The lagoon is quite rocky and fairly shallow at low tide, good for snorkeling but not for swimming. The hotel provided a basic breakfast for free which was plenty filling but somewhat monotonous. There is nothing to do at night (after 9pm) but in fairness there isn't much going on anywhere on raro most nights.

ITS A SECRET, I cant say!

We stayed for 5 days and what a perfect place for us to stay. Its adults only which was great. We saw other resorts and by far this was the best, cleanest and most stunning!
The staff were so lovely and Sue was so personable and helpful!

I am really reluctant to say too much more as i want this place to be our secret!! :)

Perfect for sunsets!

Morning beach walks and evening sunsets were excellent. The pool and restaurant facility on the beach were very good. There is a number of good restaurants near the resort that offer very good dining as well. Trips around the island is accessible via scouter or car. We didn't us the local buses as we wanted more freedom to explore the island. Car and scouter hire was conveniently located across the road from the resort.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the transfers from and to the airport were all on time, no delays, as were the pickups for the tours we went on. People of the Cooks are very friendly, helpful and courteous.

We had perfect weather during our stay and we bathed in the beautiful weather, the water, the snorkelling and the scenery.

Beautiful location - but way overpriced

We only stayed here for one night. The location, the pool and bar area are really spectacular. However the accommodation felt like a school camp and all we could smell was burning rubbish. The rooms are totally overpriced for what they are, the beds are uncomfortable and the romantic 3 course private dinner was pretty average. I would have paid more like $70pp as opposed to $100 - the steak tasted like it was from a packet as did the dessert. However the staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the rooms were really clean.

Quiet beachfront resort

Enjoyed a short stay at Manuia Beach Resort which is a small hotel with good pool and comfortable rooms. Good value food and views while eating - despite restaurant being renovated.

Could do better

A good location on the Beach, but just needs a make over to equal other high end resorts visited. The staff are not bothered and do the minimum. Food in the restaurant was not great and some of the other guests were complaining loudly. Glad we only stopped 2 nights.

LOVELY SETTING, RIGHT ON THE BEACH, FRIENDLY STAFF

We loved the fact there was no television in the rooms. The book swap was good - think I read 3 books. Really liked the sand floor in the restaurant and personal intimate feeling of the whole place. Food was great. Service was really good. Loved the laid back lifestyle and all the friendly people. We were sad to leave.

Lovely secluded resort on the beach

A peaceful, relaxing retreat right on the beach with lovely tropical gardens surrounding the units. The staff were friendly and helpful and made our stay pleasant. This is a perfect location for a special occasion e.g. honeymoon/wedding anniversary.

Great location on the beach

Stayed late Sept, watched whales from the beach. Villas are in beautiful gardens, some facing the beach. Unfortunately they are duplexes - the interconnecting door is not soundproof. Continental breakfast was very average. Restaurant menu ok. Outdoor shower was fun. Overall had a relaxing stay (11 nights).

Superb, quiet and relaxing location

Awesome staff, beautiful location and great facilities make the Manuia a super place to relax and enjoy your experience in Rarotonga. We hadn't been there before and booked off other reviews online which were glowing. Manuia Beach resort lives up to those reviews (and this one).

Small, adults only resort

A lovely relaxing place to spend your holiday in comparison to some of the bigger family-oriented resorts. Modern, spacious rooms. The included buffet breakfast was nice. We weren't so keen on the 'outdoor shower' and didn't realise that would be the case until we got there.

Right on the beach

The resort is very nice, with a small number of rooms. The food is as good as any on the island. Be prepared to pay a lot for food and services on the island and this resort is no exception. It wasn't more expensive than the rest of the food/services on the island, but wasn't any cheaper either. The people at the resort are very nice and helpful.

Stunning setting. Beautiful sunsets.

After much research we decided Manuia was the resort for us. We were not disappointed. It was a small resort with good sizes rooms. The resort was set in the most beautiful surroundings with gorgeous gardens and an infinity pool over looking the sea. No matter where you stay in the resort you only have a small walk to the pool and restaurant. The food was beautiful and the outside shower was a novelty. The service was personnel and the small free breakfast was adequate. The restaurant has a sand floor so make sure you pack your mosquito spray, yup will need it. We would definitely stay here again. It was paradise!
