The hotel is located a walking distance of about 25 mins from many of the touristy areas. You have to walk at an incline to get to it. Ubers were very cheap and much quicker. Our room fit 2 large suitcases, 2 carryone suitcases, plus 2 backpacks, with plenty room to walk around. The shower only had a half door with plenty of water pressure but varying water temperatures during your shower. One second it is hot, then next cold and it continues to cycle that way. Sometimes it is fine - perhaps has to do with how many ppl are showering? The floors and room were clean. There was this spot outside the elevator door that needed to be carpet cleaned. The breakfast was good and much appreciated each day.

Hotel location out of the centre but neighbourhood interesting especially around Marques. We used buses and metro but walked more than anything. The front of house staff were always charming and helpful. The beds were super comfortable and the bathroom spacious.

Rude Reception

We will never return to this hotel because of the rude way way we were treated by a couple of the reception staff. It was also uncomfotable to watch other customers and a young lady staff member being treated in a slightly agressive manner. This is not a cross-cultural issue because nowhere else in Portugal were we ever subjected to the bad moods of staff.
Other than that the room was clean and comfortable for a one night stay.

Tryp Centre Hotel is safe, clean, room is quite spacious considered in Europe city. Because of its centrally in located, most tour companies will be able to offer pick up and drop off. We walked to most Porto attractions. We took the tours for places where driving is required. Would recommend this hotel

I am not usually picky when it comes to reviewing a hotel. However, the quality of this hotel was affected by several small faults. Namely, TV reception not good, one or two fixtures in the bathroom loose or hanging off. Limited choice for breakfast, one of the breakfast staff chewing (gum?) and some of the breakfast utensils not fully cleaned.
On the positive side, the rooms are a good size, and the reception staff were very friendly and helpful. These details are more important than the more irritating faults above. It was just that I would have expected more given that the nightly cost was in the region of 90 Euros. Also, many previous reviews point out the hilly location. Obviously the hotel cannot do anything to change that, but it is that issue, rather than the small problems, which would make me consider a different hotel next time. Shame really because, as mentioned, staff were so helpful.

I would class the hotel as \"premium budget\". I stayed for 5 nights. First, they allocated me a small room without windows which was nothing liked I booked or the photograph on the internet booking confirmation. Happily, on request the friendly staff moved me to a suitable room the next morning after I complained. The hotel is full of international tour groups, so consequently I assume individual internet bookings are allocated inferior rooms. Fair enough, if the consumer is provided with an honest description of the room so they can make an informed choice. My new room was nice and had all the facilities I required. The hotel is not located in the centre of Porto as the hotel name might suggest but in a northern suburb, which is 5 metro stops from the centre of Porto. It takes around 30 minutes to reach the centre on the metro including walking from the hotel to the metro station.

Very small room door opens to face a wall and then need to side step to enter.

Apart from that the room is reasonable. Bath room clean and well presented, comfortable bed, nice patio with table and two chairs. Catches the sun in the morning and early afternoon.

Area around hotel was dead but that does mean quiet at night! It’s 20-25 mins away from lively restaurant area.
Staff were friendly and helpful. They agreed late check out with no issues and arrange taxi to airport.
Ok for short stay in the city.

We needed a hotel for a one night stay in Porto. It is located on the outskirts of the town, but Uber rides are very inexpensive here so that what was not an issue. The hotel is nice, basic and for the price it made sense. Only issue was the attitude used when we asked for an Iron. We were not aware that our room did not \"qualify\" to have an iron sent to our room. The front desk made it very clear and in a very rude manner

I try to stay at TRYP hotels whenever I can since they are always modern, super clean, and comfy bedding. This one had all of the above, and the staff were super nice. The breakfast was amazing too, lots of options and everything was super fresh and the kitchen/dining room staff worked hard to make sure the standard remains high. My only problem was the location, most TRYP's are just outside of the centre, and this one was too so that was to be expected. there was nothing around and everything closes early so in the evenings make sure you have everything you need when you return to the hotel for the night.

Hotel staff were somewhat helpful and polite but hotel manager comes off as curt and abrupt. During my four day stay I inquired a few times as to how to dial outb internationally using the phone in my hotel room the staff was no help at all and gave me the wrong code to the wrong country. I finally learned how to dial internationally on a pay phone.
Now my other complaint is that the bed took up most of the hotel room space the room was so small.
I checked out from my room a day early than when I originally booked it. I reserved the room for July 18-22 but it was a mistake on my part because I planned to leave the 21st to leave for Lisbon. I paid the full hotel stay when I checked in. I told the front desk that I would be checking out on the 21st. They did not want to reimburse me for the 22nd. I am still trying to fight this. I will not be using Tryp in the future.

Overall a good, clean and well run hotel with very good breakfasts and clean we equipped rooms. All the staff I encountered were pleasant and polite and spoke English.

The location is not the greatest and care needs to be taken as the pavements are dog fouled. It is not the easiest hotel to find from the local metro station at first. There are a few local eateries and bars and a few decorative houses but it's not the prettiest area of Porto.

The metro is about 7 mins walk away and the city centre about 25.

There is nothing really bad about this hotel but nothing great either

We arrived quite late at night but we were really quick checking in and getting to our room on the top floor of the hotel. First impressions were great, the hotel looked really modern and decorated to a high standard. The cleanliness of the hotel is immaculate.
Our room looked quite small to start with until we opened the patio door curtain to reveal huge balcony and table and chairs which was great.
The breakfast was fantastic - we read some reviews saying that the breakfast was poor but I have to disagree. The was a selection of hot food, cheeses and hams, lots of fruit/cereal/breads etc etc and on all 4 mornings we were highly impressed with the service we were offered at breakfast.
The only downside to the hotel was its neighbourhood, although we never had any incidents the area looks quite shady. The walk to the closest metro station (Marques) was down a small, dimly lit street with a lot of empty shops and houses. Its actual location however wasn't too bad - just 5 minute walk to the metro and a 20 minute walk to the main shopping streets of Porto.
The room services were great, the room was thoroughly cleaned every day and restocked with towels etc. They also offer all the usuals like minibar service, laundry and they can call you in a pizza if you just want to chill in the room on an evening.
All in all, I'll go back - got a great service for the low cost at Tryp.

We really liked this hotel. Our room was huge, had great lighting, good heat, a comfortable bed, and a bathroom stocked with soap, shampoo, lotion, a shoehorn, and a shower cap. The room also had an elliptical machine and a yoga mat. They also left us complimentary water and a water kettle with several teas. Wonderful!

Our room was quiet and we slept incredibly well.

The only bad thing about the room was the water temperature and pressure in the bathroom. The shower ran cold if the sink was turned on, and the water ran cold if another hotel guest was using water in another room. This made us pretty cranky as we take our showers at night to relax before bed, especially on a chilly January night.

Aside from the water temperature, we liked this hotel and should have stayed a second night, but we went on Lisbon instead.

We booked a standard room having seen how spacious the rooms were on the website and not too far away from Marques metro station. The rooms were clean and spacious indeed. However, we were told by reception that no kettle could be provided as this was only for the suites. We had to go down to the reception desk every time we needed hot water. Also, there were no cups in the room. The funny thing is that every time we got some cups from reception, the house keeping would remove them from our rooms (along with the pot for the hot water) while they cleaned the rooms. So we had to get cups and a new pot (which may not be available on certain days) everyday. The physical distance from the city center is fine since Porto is not that big. However, the location is marked by old buildings. The shortest way between the hotel and the metro is a small road, which is dark and isolated at night and does not feel safe to walk in.

Nice clean hotel, not too central

As all Tryp hotels are, things were clean and rooms are nice. Staff were fairly indifferent but perhaps this is merely a cultural thing. It is a fair walk into town but we actually liked staying somewhere a little quieter and we also found we could eat out cheaply without getting ripped off on the tourist trail restaurants. We particularly liked the small restaurant Brasilfeira down the hill.

For a super cheap option this was a wonderful hotel! We did have a problem with our first room not getting warm enough and no hot water, but they fixed it very quickly. I will say for the price, I didn't expect the cleanliness and service that we experienced! Recommended!!!

While the location is deemed \"Center\" it turned out to be very far from the tourist part of the city and in an extremely dilapidated neighborhood that we were told was unsafe to walk around at night. The hotel was also under construction in the lobby which we did not realize until we arrived. The service and room itself were fine, but I would not recomment that a tourist stay in that part of town. We ended up taking taxis everywhere.

The hotel is 10 minutes away from the metro station which is clean, unexpensive and reliable. It takes about 20 minutes to get to the \"real\" downtown where the attractions are. Our room was large, clean and confortable. The staff was very helpful, friendly, and speaks English fluently. The breakfast buffet is large and of good quality. The hotel sells bus and Aquarium tickets at a discounted price, so you get a great deal and you don't have to wait in line.

Porto hotel

Nice clean and safe hotel, located a walk away from the main areas, up some very steep hills, but that's Porto. Surrounding area was very local, but we felt safe.

Comfort and clean room. Good for short stay. Good for value. Close to shopping area, within 10~15mins walking distance.

Hotel simples, de centro de cidade. Estava tudo ok, equipe gentil, educada, disponível.
Café da manhã bom. Estacionamento por €12, muito estranho, no subsolo do prédio, onde descemos com o carro num meio elevador. Imaginamos se faltar energia ou o elevador quebrar, estaríamos presos sem saída, no subsolo.
