A great location for visiting the walkable city of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia just over the river. It's clean and the reception is friendly. It's not luxurious but (a) you knew that when you saw the price and (b) you're going out first thing in the morning and coming back last thing at night, you came here to see Portugal, no the inside of a room. Only thing I would say to Expedia is, we got the non-smoking room we asked for but you describe the property as smoke free, and I am not convinced it is.

Good little base for exploring porto

I know for some people having to leave your key at reception is jarring and confusing but in practice it's not too inconvenient as the hardworking hostess is always at reception at all hours. The location is great for access to a direct metro to/from the airport, although it's not right in the centre of the action. I would recommend this hotel if you're happy to use the metro and/or walk into the centre

Got to the reception and was meet by a women who didn’t speak very good English,Filled out all the forms and was told I needed to pay €6 euro bedroom fee..No problem went to pay with my card but they only took cash..No problem I will get to the cash machine and draw it out for you..All day and the following day i was meet with “You owe me €6 euro today” She was very rude and hounded me for this €6 even though I paid when booking £10 for another “tax”..The hotel it self stunk from every corner of cigarette smoke constantly! It was disgusting to the point I had to leave my window open all day and night to try and air the smell out! Didn’t work bearing in mind we was on a busy road so the noise was constant! The bathroom is so small you can’t move when showering if you can shower that is! The bed the sheets where damp and not dry! Your key you have to leave behind the reception if you leave so any one can have a nosey in your room! All in all a really bad experience and would never book here again.

I have arrived 2 hours before the check in time, I approach very friendly to the receptionist and asked if I could check in earlier because my flight was on that time and there is no where else for me to go, that I could even pay a bit extra if necessary. Her answer”do you want me to get in to the room and wake people up after that smash them out for you to have a room on this time??!!, have you seen anywhere else check in being before 3pm?!! “

To be honest, I felt so bad that I couldn’t even talk!! I just answered “THANK YOU”

Apart of her, all went good after checked in.
But I won’t go back again to this Hostel.

RUN AS FAR AS YOU CAN FROM THIS PLACE!!!
So we’re a family of 4. We booked accommodation for a family room for €485 for 9 nights and upon arriving she demanded that we pay €7000 for two extra people! We said we’re happy to pay €15.85 per person per night (as what was stated on their website) but she continued to scream at us in Portuguese and tried haggling it down to €3600!

She laughed in our face when we said can we get our money back so we thought since we’ve already paid we might as well have our mum and brother stay and my partner and I find another hotel around the corner.

Every time you leave your hotel room you have to hand her the keys and buzz to come back in. On the first night she demanded my mum pay €28 to get her key back!

I cannot believe how this place is still allowed to be running. Seriously one the the worse humans you can ever encounter. Please do not stay here unless you are happy to get ripped off and abused.

Overall good but broken doors

Hotel was in a good location and nice for what we wanted. My only issue is the double door to the small balcony was swollen and didn't close. We closed the shutters and doors best possible but unfortunately could hear the traffic from the busy street all night.

Not recommended in overall crap staying noise rude

Well once I arrived I was recived by the landlady , she looked scruffy absolutely smelled off cigarettes, she asked me to pay an extra charge for cleansing and covid 19 products, plus €2 euros for holiday destination and then told me it’s not her it’s the a government charge, show me to the room , once in the room I realise the room had dust every where , not very clean , I was frozen during the night as the bed gad only 1 sheet and a bed cover, had to put radiator on all night , that was not good for my heat, regarding my illness, tried to have a nap the lady at reception was shouting with sone guest who refused to pay the extra charge she was asking , then person in room next door who was a frind off person shouting at reception loudly I must say screaming it would be my correct saying was on phone talking very Loud regarding the shouting at reception where they were going to call the police as they were being over charged by the landlady, during the night was extremely noisy terrible night sleep, was asked to check out 1 hour early as she needed the room for next guest When asked if I could leave luggage and pick up later on I was told no and to leave it at the metro station, when I complained regarding the noise during the night I was told there was no noise as she was up all night ,in overall I give the hotel a 0 recommendation, the one nice thing I can say about it , is it had a beautiful decorated alll over , in overall 🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

I stayed for one night at this hotel and it was one of my worst experiences. The card reader did not work to pay at the hotel. I had to go out of my way, after a long days travel, find an atm to grab cash. In the evening there was a football game playing loudly in the reception area. It seems as though it wasn't a place of business but a place where the owner's friends can come and scream and shout at the television, hanging out. The room itself is quaint, but the nonsmoking room was strongly sprayed with air freshener to mask the cigarette smell. Although check-out time is stated on the Hotel.com noon, the owner insisted I leave at 11:30AM the previous evening.

The very next morning, at 11:31AM, the owner banged on my door several times, shouting to leave. At 11:32 AM, as I was double checking if I left anything behind, she was banging on my door again. That was very rude, and stress inducing. There is an upsoken rule of courtesy. A minute or two delay does not warrant such a reaction. I am not a burglar. I am a guest. As it stands, I would never recommend spending a night at this hotel.

I dont know if all rooms in this hotel will fot thks description but i was in Room 11, a recently furnished room, modern, overlooking the street and with a private bathroom. For the price paid, it was a great deal. It is situated around 20-25min walk from the river but of you dont mind walking its great.

This is a cheap place but good value. If you're after luxury to stay in all day this is not the place for you. But if you just want somewhere cheap to sleep in this does the job. the room and especially the bathroom is small but clean and adequate.

The free WiFi worked very well.

No lift, stairs only.

Everytime you enter the building you have to ring the doorbell from the pavement but its no bother - the owner lets you in 24 hours a day.

Good location - really close to a metro station of the same name which is only two or three of stops from city centre and station. The airport is one change away. There are cheap cafes nearby.

Didn’t like the host lady wasn’t very polite. The room was tired, dated not particularly clean on last morning I found ants running around the room. If you go out every time you have to leave key with her so when you come late at night you have to ring the door bell so she can open doors. And then see hers unhappy face. Would be easy if you go out take key with you.
Definitely next time I stay somewhere else and not gonna recommend this property to my friends.

We were pleased with the staff who were friendly, courteous, and helpful. The location of this small hotel was ideal. It is located within walking distance of the historical area of Porto. It is also within walking distance to the main subway system and to the train station. A small, family owned restaurant is right next door and directly across the street is a neighbourhood pub/coffee shop. We enjoyed our stay here.

\"Economy\" double exceeded expectations

Very flexible and hospitable staff - reception desk is 24/7 and staff are multi-lingual. When I arrived there the card machine was not working at the hotel and I hadn't brought cash - the host assured me this was no trouble at all and that I could pay the next day if I needed to; I was very grateful. On arrival the host kindly gave us a map of the city and showed us all the major services nearby including the nearest metro station, bus stops and recommended some local places we could go to get a bite to eat etc at a responsible price. Staff cleaned the room immaculately each day. Only thing was that there were no food services at the hotel nor garden/balcony, however with so many lovely landmarks nearby and loads of low-budget cafes in the local area this was no issue for us. I noted some people noted the staff were not fluent in English - in my experience the English they had was more than sufficient for a hotel guest even if not fluent. I also think it is terribly rude to visit a country without making the effort to learn even a few sentences in the native language. A pocket phrasebook will be more than sufficient, if needed at all.

Great value apartment in historical Porto

We stayed for 3 nights. The apartment is located in residential building with elevator. There is a bedroom with double bed and bunks, also small living room/dining and the kitchen. The main road is quite busy and it can get little noisy in the evenings or early mornings but we followed an advise from one review and put an extra blanket over the window and it worked out great. There is a subway station very close to the apartment but mostly we walked to the city centre as it was down the hill and not far anyway. There are some cafeterias and shops around, they just close little bit earlier then we would expect. The price we paid was a great value, we really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't mind to stay again.

Basic residence, but good value.

This is very straightforward, with absolutely no frills (it is more like a room in an apartment than a hotel). There is no breakfast area or bar, but it is really cheap and was very clean. The rooms are small, but perfectly fine for a single traveller, with good wifi connection.

Friendly Staff. Weird setup.

Very friendly staff. It's kind of a weird set up where you have to be let in every time you come back, so you always have to interrupt someone whenever you come or go. It makes it a little weird. So even though the staff are so nice, it's awkward to always have to talk to someone to either leave your key on the way out or have them come downstairs to let you in.

Pretty nice place besides the odor in the bathroom (moho and mildew) it's located in one of the main streets in the neighborhood and that make me feel uncomfortable at night because is to noisily. However, I hang a blanket in the window and that help us a lot.

Lovely hotel close to all Oporto amenities.

This lovely hotel is in a quiet suburb but within an easy walk of central Oporto. Travel to and from the airport is easy as the Metro is very close by. The Managaress, Skye, is kind and interesting so I would definiately stay here again.

Don't be out off by the exterior. Inside, the Residencial Faria Guimaraes is a great place to stay when visiting Porto. The staff were welcoming, and gave us advice on where to go, and where to get breakfast. The twin bedded room was clean, comfortable and serviced daily. A fridge, and kettle were provided as was a heater should the room become a little chilly at night. Although we overlooked the main road, traffic noise only became really apparent in the early evening when everyone is going home. For room only accommodation, it really was excellent

Simple, clean pension

The room was small and simple but very clean. I had requested single beds but when we arrived it was a double and we had to wait till 22.00 and then sit outside whilst the beds to be unclipped and remade which was not ideal. The bathroom was clean but tine and my 194cm companion could not sit on the WC unless he sat sideways as there was no room between the WC and the wall. There is no facility for food or drink but a good cafe directly opposite with very friendly service. After a couple of days we were treated like valued family members.

Having said that, the staff were very friendly and helpful with wake up calls, posting mail for us etc... Now knowing the nature of the small properties in Porto due to its planning-preservation (UNESCO status), I do understand how few large hotels there are and we did like that preservation is important.

We would recommend it to friends making it clear that it is a pension, not really a hotel.

Neighborhood hotel close to Metro

This hotel is not in the hustle bustle of the tourist center but is within walking distance and the Metro is just a block away. We had a small but very clean and comfortable room. The woman who ran the Residencial was wonderful. Though her English was limited (but better than my Portuguese) she made sure we had a map, knew where we were, and how to get to all the best sites and the much needed laundromat. A true delight!

the location of the hotel is nice around 15 minutes walk to the historical centre and 2 minutes walk to the nearest metro station. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only thing I would say is the wall is quit thin I can hear the noise from the neighbourhood and downstairs. But overall is worth the price.

Rude staff who only spoke Portuguese and did not make an effort to help.
Check out time at 11 30 AM, but if we left the room at 8 am for breakfast, we would not be able to come back.
The whole building strongly smelled of cigarette smoke. Bed sheets looked dirty and bathroom had lots of fumes.

Small little town hotel, the owner was very welcoming and spoke little English but tried very hard and explained lots on the map. Good location just straight down into town.
Parking isn't free, but only €3 for 1 day up the road.
Found it odd having to hand our key in and can only get in with a door bell. But overall was ok. Rooms were small but not a problem for one night.

It is a tiny hotel in a quiet location. However I waked up a several times during a night whenever somebody was at the corridor or took a shower in any room a water flow in a pipes with a very big noise that I cannot sleep. So overall I prefer to pay a few more euro and stay in a nicer hotel, won't come back to this hotel.

Det var en billig overnatning og som sådan ok.
Rengøringen var ikke super god og det lugtede af bl.a. af røg i værelserne. Der er en markant støj fra gadens biler.

Io direi a questa donna di mettere un citofono,non parlo di videocitofono \"tecnologia troppo avanzata\";non si può ogni volta che esci lasciare alla \"reception\"la chiave e poi quando torni,suonare ogni volta e aspettare anche 5 minuti,mai vista una cosa simile.La struttura è vicina al centro,alla metropolitana,ma la scocciatura che dimostra questa donna,la chiave lasviata ogni volta e il fetore che proviene dal bagno,rovinano l'aspetto positivo del loco.

Hier muss man seinen Schlüssel abgegeben und jedesmal wenn man ins hotel möchte, steht man auf der Straße und man muss klingeln. Der Höhepunkt war, als ich 1 Stunde in der Nacht (2-3 Uhr) auf der Straße verbringen musste, weil niemand auf mein Klingeln reagierte. Ich habe den Urlaub nach zwei Tagen abgebrochen und bin auf eigene Kosten nach Hause geflogen. Bisher keine Unterstützung durch Expedia! Das Hotel ist außerdem mehr als schmutzig und die Dame an der Rezeption ist nicht einsichtig und sehr unfreundlich! hier auf keinen Fall ein Zimmer buchen! Ich habe das Gefühl die wollen die Leute mit Absicht weg ekeln.

La llamamos \"La pensión Loli\", es una habitación pequeña, vieja y no muy limpia. El baño es súper pequeño, la ducha es bañera, tan pequeña que cuesta darte la vuelta sin peligro.
No hay más que jabón de manos y lo justo para que no gastes, la basura es de tamaño baño, la \"limpieza\" de la habitación se realiza cada 2 días.
Lo peor es que no te dan llaves, tienes que picar para poder entrar, no sólo en ocasiones tarda muchísimo en bajar, si no, que te pedirá explicaciones de todo haciendo bastante molesta la estacia ya que la mujer, no tiene nada de simpática.
Las habitaciones están en un segundo piso sin ascensor, la ubicación es buena y cercana al metro aunque, no hay mucho comercio cerca.

No check in a funcionária fez 1001 questionamentos do porque eu estava alugando o quarto mais caro, depois perguntou mais de 1000 vezes se eu ia trazer mais alguém para dormir comigo, na manhã seguinte pontualmente 30 minutos antes do check-out estava a funcionária a bater na porta dizendo que eu tinha que ir embora.
Quarto era no 1° andar sem janelas anti ruídos, muito barulho dos carros subindo a rua, muito barulho dos hospedes do apto de cima, aquecedor do quarto não funcionou, no banheiro só tinha uma toalha de banho, não tinha de rosto e nem de chão.
Definitivamente decepcionante!!!

Die Matratzen waren gut und das Schlafzimmer war sauber und in Ordnung. Das war auch schon das Positive. Wer keine Ansprüche hat und nur etwas zum schlafen braucht, könnte dort zu recht kommen, wenn man auch bei starken Straßenlärm schlafen kann. Besonders negativ war der Gestank im Treppenhaus. Die Vermieterin machte erst mal einen sympathischen Eindruck. Sehr doof war, dass sie von sich aus uns den Vorschlag machte , einen Fahrdienst zum Flughafen zu organisieren. Wir mussten morgens um 3:00 zu Flughafen fahren. Wir fragten zweimal nach, ob es sicher ist. Sie bejahte. Nur leider kam kein Fahrdienst oder Taxi uns abholen. Wir besorgten uns dann mit Hilfe vom Nachtportier des danebenliegendem Hotel selber ein Taxi und bekamen gerade noch so den Flug.

Qualidade do estabelecimento corresponde ao que era expectável. Contudo, atendimento péssimo por parte dos donos, ao mínimo barulho reclamam connosco de forma bruta e mal educada, dizendo asneiras agressivamente e sem realizar um pedido prévio para diminuirmos o volume, sendo que só demonstram simpatia nas alturas que lhes mais convém. Vi boede i Porto på to overnatninger , Hotellet er centralt beliggende , der er ikke langt til fods til Riberia og der ligger Metro næsten ved siden af . Værelset var fint ned brus , elkedel og køleskab . Værtinden var altid klar til at lukke op for os og sød og venlig . Hotellet var fuld valuta for prisen

El apartamento no estaba mal, aunque un poco lejos del centro. El problema es la casera, una mujer espontánea que vino a las 11:25 a echarnos (tendríamos que salir a las 11:30) y a esa hora estábamos recogiendo. Su actitud fue un poco maleducada

Uma nojeira e uma falta de higiene imensa

Escolhemos esta residência porque só queríamos um sítio para dormir como fomos só para passear , e agradou nos muito o quarto.. quando fomos dormir reparamos cabelos nos lençóis, muito pó em vários sítios mas pronto em questão da casa de banho tivemos 2 toalhas médias só para 2 pessoas, nem toalha para enxugar as mãos nem tapete para quando sair do duche não colocar os pés na tijoleira mas cada um usou a sua toalha pensando que no dia a seguir a senhora iria trocar as toalhas como vimos no sítio que a limpeza era feita diariamente.. e não foi bem assim a senhora quando confrontamos com as toalhas para trocar a senhora disse que a limpeza era feita de 2 em 2 dias e as toalhas trocadas só de 2 em 2 dias … o que nos aborreceu porque já tínhamos usado as toalhas porque por norma e já que ela deu foi só 2 toalhas pensamos que era trocada todos os dias e já que somos turistas e passeando todos os dias é normal suar a senhora devia ter isso em consideração e não só..
Foi muita falta de higiene.. mas pronto foi feito assim a troca era na quinta e no sábado , chegou a sábado agente levantou 12h chegamos lá abaixo para entregar a chave porque todos os dias ela dizia que tínhamos que deixar a chave e todos os dias dizia “a chave deixar aqui”a sisma é pior que q doença mas enfim, quando fomos entregar a chave ela disse que não ia mudar a toalha nem limpar o quarto porque é só até ao meio dia. Detalhe íamos embora no domingo.. ou seja ela no início não nos informou de nada, foi depois

Foi muito bom, muito perto do centro histórico, muito limpo, cama boa e chuveiro muito bom. O atendimento deixou um pouco a desejar, a senhora do atendimento não era muito profissional, não atendia como funcionária de hotel, era mais como uma proprietária que alugava um quarto.

Surtaxe en espèces venue de nul part, sans possible facture .
Femme complètement hystérique face à l’argent.
Vol d’un sac et de serviettes.
Pendant notre absence, la responsable de l’établissement est venue fouiller dans nos affaires.
Les chambres ne correspondent pas du tout aux photos.
Serviettes sales, pleines de tâches marrons et mouillées lors de notre arrivée.
Lit avec taches ( sang…)
Tout est sale, pas de gel douche, odeur d’égout et de tabac froid constant, même dans la chambre.

A experiência no geral foi boa. O hotel possui boa localização, ao lado da estação de metrô, facilitando o deslocamento. Foi decepcionante descobrir que furtaram um par de brincos.

Boa localização (perto de uma estação de metro); os quartos são simples mas têm tudo (incluindo mini-bar), a cama e as almofadas são confortáveis e estava tudo limpo, tem persianas e portadas, o que é um ponto bastante positivo e a funcionária da recepção foi muito simpática.

Hyvä sijainti metroasemien lähellä. Nukkumiseen ok.Henkilöstö 1 ihminen jolla 2 päivää jouluna vapaata,jolloin hotelli kiinni ja hän nukkuu,nukkuu,nukkuu. Henkilö puhui hyvää portugalia jota helppo ymmärtää.Englanti sujui ensi säikäyksen jälkeen kohtalaisen hyvin ja juttua piisasi jopa keskiyön jälkeen saavuttuamme herättelemään.
Ihan kiva kokemus.

Etablissement avec mobilier rustique. Ni plus ni moins.
On a aimé la situation géographique: 3 mn de la bouche de métro et 20 mn à pied du centre ville.
Accueil et service sympathique. Par contre, le gel douche n'a pas été renouvelé lors des 3 nuits de notre séjour.

le logement était propre...il est spacieux et correctement équipé...la douche était super bonne...nous avons été bien reçu et avons pu garder les clefs avec nous...le seul défaut, c'est le bruit de la rue car les vitres sont très fines...et n'isole pas du bruit...pour nous, c'est le seul défaut du logement...

No lo recomendaria a nadie.Dueña antipatica.Habitaciones pequeñas.El baño es un armario q lo han adaptado para q sea baño.No tiene ascensor.Muchas escaleras para subir.No se puede descansar del ruido de los coches.Ibamos con mi hijo q vive en Oporto y no le dejaron subir con nosotros a dejar las maletas según decia pir ordenes del jefe.En conclusion un horror

Bien situé à coté du métro, mais assez loin du centre.
Nombreux restaurants dans le quartier
Nous n'avons pas eu le petit déjeuner comme prévu,
la chambre était minuscule (rien pour étendre les serviettes, pas possible de laisser une valise ouverte) et la personne de l'accueil très désagréable (pas bonjour, pas un regard)
Ménage pas fait correctement
