Beautiful resort with a lot of options for pools, bars and restaurants. However, the food we experienced at several places was just \"ok\", and it was very expensive! Drinks especially were extremely costly. Our best meals were off site at local places. Nice touch though in the room with the fancy expresso maker and including coffee, that was good to have in the mornings.

Had a fabulous vacation at the Rio Mar. the beach area was perfect, they accommodated us if there weren’t chairs or umbrella available. The pools were perfect and the last night we realized there was a wonderful hot tub on the margaritaville side. Just the right amount of activities. The room was always clean and provided for an excellent relaxing vacation.

Resort was stunning. Beautifully maintained and landscaped. Pool areas were great as was beach. No problem getting chairs at either. Staff were all friendly. We tried most restaurants on property and all were fantastic. If I had one complaint, and this seems to be most people’s complaint, it would be that everything is very, very expensive. Plan a grocery store trip to save money.

Staff didn't seem to care about anything other than taking money. I went on a Catamaran trip and learned more about the area and felt more welcome in the few hours I spent with them in the whole week at the resort. Prices are outrageous. Had a server at a cabana that was rude, didn't care about taking care of customers, and only cared about reinforcing a $75 minimum per room. Rooms were clean, however resort definitely needs some work and upkeep. I was there for a wedding, and honestly I would love to return to Puerto Rico but not Wynham Rio Mar

Wyndham Grand was everything we expected it to be based on reading all of the reviews and following along on social media for quite a while! It was the most perfect mid-size resort for a family with two young kids (ages 6 and 9) who need the right amount of entertainment without an overstimulating, mega resort style experience. Also, someone who cares deeply about the environment, I very much appreciated Wyndham's commitment to their local ecosystem, especially the well-being of the leatherback sea turtles :). The only thing that could use some improvement would be the restaurant service (Roots is very, very slow). That did not impact our overall experience by any means though, and we absolutely plan to be back and have already recommended the resort to a few friends :).

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at this beach resort! From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and offered breathtaking ocean views. Waking up to the sound of the waves each morning was pure relaxation.

The beach was clean, peaceful, and just steps away from our room, making it easy to enjoy long walks and sunset views. The resort amenities were top-notch, especially the pool area, on-site dining, and daily activities. Every meal we had was delicious and beautifully presented.

What truly made this stay special was the attention to detail and the genuine hospitality from everyone on the team. This resort is the perfect place to unwind, recharge, and enjoy paradise. We can’t wait to return!

Everything was beautiful inside & out. The staff were all very friendly & helpful. The pool was wonderful & the 5 O’Clock Somewhere bar & grill was right next to the pool & beach entrance. The food, drinks & staff were awesome. We used the 24-hr room service to have breakfast delivered each morning & ate on the balcony so we wouldn’t be rushed before heading out for tours in the morning. Loved it there & highly recommend!

they tried to tell us they were upgrading our room from a king & jungle view (what we asked for) to a double queen & pool view. We expressed that wasn’t an upgrade for us. They fixed the it and gave us a room with a garden/palm tree view, with the overpass of the hotel in front of us. and a king bed. The AC and slider were broken, both fixed quickly. the pools and bar areas were excellent, couldn’t have asked for better on that. the children’s pool is awesome and we definitely want to come back with our son. and we will without a doubt know NOT to get the buffet breakfast the hotel restaurant offers. it was $75 for two coffees and an extremely mediocre buffet. the fresh fruit was the redeeming quality of that but absolutely not worth the steep price. housekeeping was amazing. unfortunately for them we did not realize how little cash is used at the resort and we unable to leave a large tip bc of this. so make sure you have exact cash for your housekeepers! I will pack an envelope next time. overall a great experience and we would return.

Our family of 4 had a wonderful trip to Puerto Rico, and loved staying at the Wyndham. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating, our room was clean, modern, and large enough for our family. The on-site restaurants were delicious. The prices were on-par with a nice resort. We used the pool, which was lovely.

The only complaint was that many other guests would go down and “reserve” pool chairs by laying an item of clothing on them, then return hours later. The hotel staff confirmed the only way to reserve chairs at the pool was by renting a cabana, however they did nothing to enforce this. A public posting of these rules at the pool may help defer this behavior, and I made that suggestion to the staff at the front desk.

Other than that one issue, the resort was beautiful and exactly what we wanted, and we would definitely come back!

Air conditioning broken in our room when arrived. Workers came and worked on it as we sat there Said it was a 5 minute fixed turned out to be closer to 4 hours. Finally moved to another room. Had ac problems in that room. But while out exploring Culebra they blew up my phone messaging about the ac and needing to get in the room. I gave them permission and it was still an issue. Then I had already paid resort fees and then tried to charge extra resort fees on top of what we already paid. Save your money and definitely stay at a different hotel because this was not worth $500 a night.

Only good restaurant was iguanas. Golf course was lovely but not why we came. Personally I would never come back.

We loved the open green space that allowed our boys to run off some energy by playing soccer, running races or just plain being kids with all sorts of different kids that were also staying on the property. We also really enjoyed the close proximity of the beach to the pool area and how easy it was to access both the beach and the pool.

Throughout my stay I was perpetually irritated by the fact that you have to show up at the pool around 7am to put an object to claim a poolside chair. Literally, people are putting playing cards down on banks of chairs. We were told this by another guest after arriving in the afternoon, and it proved out everday thereafter. The other locations for extra guests are by a restaurant about 200' away that includes picnic tables or an artifiicial turf field equally distant that had no umbrellas most days. Sitting on the picnic table benches got old very fast.

We chose this resort as it was family friendly and hoped our child would enjoy meeting some other kids. He did and that was great, but they wanted to stay at the pool most of the time, so getting a chair on the beach didn't add much value for us.

The staff were nice, committed to customer service and the food was very good for the most part.

We won't come back here, because the pool issue was absurd and sitting on a picnic table bench was annoying.

During American spring break, we were fortunate that there was a corporate event for Spectrum Superstars. This meant the pool area was hardly crowded, and all the restaurants accepted walk-ins. However, this changed once the event ended and the spring break families arrived—you needed to be at the pool by 8 a.m. to secure a seat. The restaurants were also full, although you could usually get a table if you went for an early dinner around 5 p.m.

I would highly recommend visiting the new Spanish tapas restaurant called Amaya. You should ask to be seated in Carlos’s section, as he was excellent. Iguanas is also worth visiting, as the food there was great as well.

Now, regarding the 22 bed bug bites—I would strongly advise against staying in room 4024. The bed closest to the balcony was the only one I used, and the rest of the family used the other beds without any issues. This rules out rainforest or sand bug bites, as no one else was affected. I was the only person who used that bed, and the doctor also confirmed it based on the bite pattern and delayed reaction.

I never expected a high-standard hotel to have a bed bug issue. The air conditioning also seemed to be malfunctioning, as the room always felt muggy.

I would have considered returning during an off-peak time because of the staff, but bed bugs are a hard pass for me. I still feel disgusted.

The hotel and grounds are as beautiful as any resort I have seen in Puerto Rico. The staff failed to correct, or “make right” several mistakes, including overbooking restaurants, not honoring reservations, making mistakes on excursions, and overcharging for things. They attempted to upsell time shares regularly. This resort felt more like a “money grab” that a luxurious relaxing resort.

The only detractions were the extremely slow elevator from the self parking structure to the lobby, as well as noise issues between rooms. We had a room with a connecting door to another room, and while this door was closed and locked, we could hear the family in the adjoining room clearly at most times, even when they were speaking at a normal volume. Not ideal for couples seeking some privacy.

The common restrooms were unclean and lacked basic toiletries. The staff was inattentive, and we were informed that if we sat by the bar tools, we were expected to purchase drinks and food. It took over an hour to receive our appetizers, and we ultimately had to go to the bar ourselves to order additional drinks. Overall, the service was poor. When we asked if Spanish music could be played, we were told the music selection was based on the bar’s theme in the Margaritaville next to the pool area.

Minutes from the rainforest. This is a top notch resort. A higher floor will give better rainforest views. Sweet little casino too. Loved it. Food and drink are a bit high, but probably in line with 'resort' pricing. Also a very nice touch, they give you a water bottle at check in and there are refilling stations by the elevator. If I come back to PR, I will stay here. If you want a tranquil beach setting, this is not the place. Very rough conditions. Mini fridge for use in rooms.

Staff was nice, the place is nice, the food is terrible here. Ordered a $65 steak at Roots Kitchen down stairs, and it was overcooked. The tacos are bland and the shells are stale. Also the adult pool closes at 6 and the swim up bar closes at 6. They start removing chairs and umbrellas around 5 at the beach, overall the place itself is nice, but the amenities and the food lack. You can find better resorts in Florida for a lot less.

The pool and beach were beautiful and the food was solid but the hotel felt very crowded throughout the week which became annoying to deal with on our vacation. We had to fight for pool and beach seats every day, deal with the pools running out of towels, and extended waits for our food to come out at dinners. The staff was very nice but just came off as being overwhelmed by the amount of people they were trying to assist.

The hotel is clean and has a nice view. That’s where the positive review ends. The hotel was PACKED for a random week in February. The staff had terrible attitudes. Simple things like no access to water near the pool and beach were problematic. It took us two days to realize there were bathrooms near the pool because there was no signage. (Can’t imagine how many people urinated in the pool- not wanting to hike back to the room! Gross) The employees didn’t want to help get out beach chairs, were horrible about giving us towels, take our towels, gave us grief self parking. Even the “pull out sofa bed” wasn’t as described. My son slept on the floor for 4 nights! They just upgraded the physical space, but it was still a terrible experience. To add to the price, it’s a 24% daily resort fee and for that you get two water bottles a day. Thanks! 🙃 Save your money and go somewhere else! (I rarely review, but this was a pretty awful stay!

We booked a family trip to Puerto Rico & confirmed a 4 -night stay at the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar, arriving Sunday evening, February 15, and departing Thursday, February 19. The entire stay was prepaid.

When we arrived at the Wyndham around 8 p.m., the lobby was full of upset families being told they no longer had rooms. Some travelers were visibly distraught, after long flights with children, while hotel staff showed little empathy. At one point, an employee even called security on a frustrated guest. Moments later, we were told that our room was also unavailable and that our only option was to move to another hotel. We waited over 2 hours while staff “assisted” other families, then were placed in a taxi around 9:30 p.m. and sent off to the other hotel.

From billing issues stemming from being forced to move to another hotel, to all of our dinner reservations and activities having to be cancelled, our pre-paid and guaranteed room never happened. We will NEVER consider ever again, the Wyndham Grand Rio Mar. Book at your own risk.

The property is beautiful and the rooms are spacious and very nice. There are a lot of restaurants and amenities. the food is good. Iguanas is EXCELLENT. The staff was very helpful and accommodating. The beach is gorgeous and the pools are great. There’s an awesome water slide. The only downside is that it is very hard to find seats at the pool. I was there at 8:30am one morning and all seats were saved. The staff did a good job of removing the towels when other guests did not show up after 30 min. If you get there late expect to sit on the grass or go to the beach. The hotel is really close to luquillo kiosks and the rainforest. I recommend renting a car. There are some good places to eat at the bottom of the road and you can do quick excursions. There is an Enterprise rental on the property. Overall, highly recommend!

Room was downgraded, 2 of 3elevators broken, not enough pool towels, pool and beach chairs, dead fish on beach. Beach full of natural debris and trash. Staff does nothing to clean it. Meals take over an hour to get and are wrong 1/3rd of the time when received.
Staff was friendly, and appologetic. Inside was clean except for bird poop on balcony furniture, nice shower and bath products, in room coffee is great, bed and bedding comfortable. Thin walls didnt sleep great due to crying kids and people walking in halls. Many of the things mentioned hard to locate with many staff unhelpful as they didnt know where things were. Not worth the $ for 2 adults but very kid friendly with activities and water park features.

You only give one free bottle of water a day. The room was over $700 per day and the resort fee was another $140 a day, including the tax. For that kind of money, you could give more water. This is compounded by the fact that the first three water dispensers I found needed their filters replaced. I expect better maintenance for the kind of money you are charging.

Additionally, the ability to connect devices, like iPads, to the television was down for a significant portion of the trip, which made watching a movie in the evening much less enjoyable.

Golf course while open was really unplayable as the drainage is horrible on both courses. I went thru the hassle of bringing my golf clubs and never got to play.

Wow... everything was perfect! The lobby, the staff, the rooms, the amenities, the layout, the kids' pool and adult pool, the clean beach, and perfect drinks! All of the staff from the casino, spa to bellman were extremely kind and caring. The restaurants were also wonderful! We will be back!
