The room was great and cosy, the restaurants, bars and lounge areas are so comfortable and well maintained. The spa is to live for, great swimming pool, sauna and steam, the relaxation room is the best, silent scented and cosy. I’ll definitely come back!

The hotel itself is very pretty and clean however I was slightly dissapointed as I booked this trip for my partners birthday as a suprise and it was the segregation of the two spas that dissapointed us the most. We stayed for 2 nights which was not cheap I do feel as if you are paying a high price for a hotel you should have access to the whole spa as it comes across slightly distasteful and money grabbing in my opinion. We were told that you could upgrade for £125 each just for the day which I also think is quite ridiculous. The second thing was that the hotel tv only had sky live tv no access to films and no smart tv. Once again I do feel as if you are paying a high price the facilities should be tiptop and you should be able to access Netflix etc. I just felt like the price you pay does not match up with the facilities in my opinion.

The hotel and rooms are beautiful!! However the service at breakfast was terrible. Waited over three quarters of an hour just to get a pot of tea, despite numerous requests. This happened on both mornings of our stay and therefore ruined our experience. Attended the Friday BBQ but unfortunately the food was cold. Would have been so much better self service! Despite this staff were very polite and friendly - it was just VERY slow

Loved the aesthetics of this property, however there were several aspects that were disappointing. One room was only ready for check in at 4.30pm so we had to wait around. The room had a leak of the floor, no water pressure in the shower and the hair dryer was not working. The key was also faulty, which forced me to go down to reception around 4-5 times to get this fixed. This was all flagged to reception and the only solution provided that “we will call the maintenance guy”. The fact that the spa facilities are only available till 11am and the service is so strict about this was super inconvenient and unfriendly provided the check in was also so late. My massage experience also felt rushed. There were no solutions or flex provided for anything that was flagged, which deflated the whole experience. Disappointing especially for the amount we paid for the night.

This was my second stay at Sopwell House and I enjoyed it as much as the first time. The decor and cleanliness were outstanding. We loved the spa facilities and the food in the restaurant - delicious! However, we were surprised to find ourselves locked out of our room when we got back to our room after breakfast on checkout day. It was just after 11am and we felt this was a bit heavy handed. Also, unlike during my first visit, I was unable to get a plus size robe which would have been more comfortable for me.

I really enjoyed my stay but it was slightly soured by the spa and fact that I was not really made aware that the better spa which they now call CLUB was £120 extra per day per person until I got there. That means that it was £700 a night if I wanted spa access and 1 evening meal, way more than the Grove. The hotel charges a very high rate anyway for a usual 4 star, so its expected to receive the higher-end facilities included that are pictured all over the website which was what made me book there. A bit of false advertising I think and that's why it felt slightly sour. Even no entry with paying for 2x massages at £260 which is way more than massages at a non-spa (and one massage was not good anyway, too soft and every time I asked for a bit harder with her hands as she barely touched me, she reminded me that I 'should have chosen a deep tissue, but I just wanted a firm Swedish and paying that she should have adapted). The staff overall were great and that's why I overall enjoyed my stay even with the spa issues and high prices overall, special thanks to Rachel on front desk who was very nice and helped me have a special stay for a special time.

Everything with my stay was great, the pool was lovely, breakfast was delicious, dinner on room service was simple but nice and the service overall was fantastic, everyone was so lovely and welcoming. The only thing that wasn't great was that in my room the towel heater was on (not needed this time of year, it made the bathroom unbearably warm) but it was also so loud, I had to wear headphones to be able to drown it out. This should really be looked into because it made ir difficult to get to sleep.

Two night couple stay for a spa break. The room was week furnished with stylish and comfortable furniture. We were on the old part of the hotel. The room wasn’t large but plenty of space did not feel like needed any more. The bathroom was modern with a good shower. Ate at both restaurants and they are well priced with good size portions and high quality. Service is friendly and efficient. The spa is lovely we had it to ourselves most of the day until new arrivals at the hotel arrived. Still plenty of space and not noisy. Treatments need to be booked well in advance as they are clearly popular.

The place is excellent. My only gripe is I had to tell the cocktail barman how to make a cocktail after receiving something that was definitely not a negroni. Also, my burger was overcooked and dry but maybe I shouldn't be ordering a burger in a beautiful spa hotel anyway. ;-)

Apart from that, the room was perfect and the service in general was great. The Club was amazing too.

We had a very comfortable stay, the leisure facilities were lovely (The Cottonmill - not 'The Club'). There were a few issues with the room that I thought let it down, the TV reception was very patchy and there was no fridge, we asked for a fridge as my friend needed to store breast milk overnight but the first one they brought didn't work, the tea and milk in the room could've been better stopped stocked. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff were very helpful but I do feel these little issue are not what you would expect of a hotel of this price range.

Having paid the best part of £200 for a room I would not have expected filthy carpets, you could see the track from the door through the room. The sink was visibly broken and when I made a cup of tea in the morning, there may have been descaler left in the kettle as when I took my first swallow it tasted acrid and I had a sore throat for the rest of the day.

We had the most wonderful stay at Sopwell house - everything was great from the facilities (the spa in particular was amazing but the rooms also), to the food and the staff were super polite and go through every effort to make you feel welcome and special. The spa facilities are great - the pool is perfect temperature, the jacuzzi is amazing and so is the sauna. We also had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and both were really memorable. This was my first visit to Sopwell House and I had the best time. It was a solo birthday trip and the staff couldn't have been kinder or more welcoming, especially Sonia who was happy to fulfil a couple of special requests that I had. The facilities are superb, the room was spacious and very clean and I enjoyed my dinner and breakfast. I would recommend this to anyone looking to stay at a luxury spa hotel. It is a bit pricey, but it's worth it.

Started off badly my husband didn’t have the rose petal and macaron surprise despite calling twice to ensure this was arranged on arrival.
Was moved to another room which had the special touches I requested and was given free drinks for the hassle.
“Deluxe” room was far from deluxe it was very much standard
Stayed here overnight for my husbands 30th birthday but was no wow factor at all. I guess things are different in the countryside?
The spa however was absolutely amazing and good covid-safe measures

We had a wonderful night at Sopwell House. We usually stay at the Grove in Hertfordshire however it was fully booked. The cleanliness of this hotel was excellent especially during Covid and we felt safe. The food was delicious with a varied menu in the Brasserie and all staff were wearing masks. The spa has been renovated and was beautiful. The only downside was that we couldn’t use the spa the following day after we checked out whereas we could in the Grove. We would definitely go back again.

We stayed at Sopwell house for 2 nights (25Aug to 27Aug-2020) in room 258. This was our first hotel stay in months because of Covid19 and regretfully it wasn't pleasant at all!
The room we got was in front of the laundry room and there were two laundry trolley outside our room from morning till evening - this was a real disappointment to get such a room after paying so much!!We were happy to see all staff members were following health guidelines, but the level of service was not to the par. For instance, we wanted to do breakfast in our room on the 27th morning and left the breakfast leaflet on door nob at 11 pm the night before for breakfast slot of 9:15 to 9:30 am. But apparently no one picked the breakfast leaflet from our room (not surprised because of all the laundry trollies around our room!). Then I went to the front reception at 9:30am (after realizing the leaflet was still on the door) where I was assured we will get the breakfast in the next 10-15mins (breakfast was porridge/cereals - nothing complicated). But we got the breakfast delivered to our room at around 10:30 am (which was after making multiple chaser calls to front reception and room services).
We had our SPA treatment booked for 11am the same day. So we had to rush eat breakfast then show up to SPA room for a massage with our belly full!!
This is not the level of service we expected from such a hotel and wouldn't dare coming back or recommend to anyone after such experience.

But apparently no one picked the breakfast leaflet from our room (not surprised because of all the laundry trollies around our room!). Then I went to the front reception at 9:30am (after realizing the leaflet was still on the door) where I was assured we will get the breakfast in the next 10-15mins (breakfast was porridge/cereals - nothing complicated). But we got the breakfast delivered to our room at around 10:30 am (which was after making multiple chaser calls to front reception and room services).
We had our SPA treatment booked for 11am the same day. So we had to rush eat breakfast then show up to SPA room for a massage with our belly full!!
This is not the level of service we expected from such a hotel and wouldn't dare coming back or recommend to anyone after such experience.

Great Customer Service.

Friendly staff from reception to restaurant to all around the hotel. Really good SPA facilities. Enjoyed the stay overall and would definitely return again in the future.
