Amazing hotel beautiful location, lovely grounds. The staff were really lovely and helpful, with everything they gave us a map to Harry Potter as the hotel is a Perfect location if you are visiting the Warner brothers studio. It’s a 20 minute walk or 5 minute taxi ride for £6. There is Nothing else in the area to do, however, you can visit the town of Watford, which is a 10minute taxi ride away £10. Lots of pubs and restaurants

The room was clean but cold, the air con allowed a heating mode but was so noisy this could not be used over night, after asking an extra duvet was provided which helped a bit.
The TV only worked on terrestrial channels, and also only worked on the first day, the second night of our stay it did not work, the remote was also reluctant to work. I was too tired and cold to request a solution.
The hotel website does not explicitly say that the main accomodation is housed outside of the main house with it's art deco interior. This was disappointing, although we still found the baby grande piano to play.
On a positive the swimming pool was warm and lovely to be able to access. The food was good, the staff were professional and attentive. A 20minute walk round to HPstudio made the hotel perfectly placed, but it felt that with the above issues it played on this factor.

Stayed in the Gladstone - lovely room and comfortable bed. Bathroom was fabulous with a super shower. Checking in was easy, arrived late but the gentleman was very polite and helpful. Breakfast had plenty to choose from with good options, staff were also lovely. Really enjoyed our stay!

Went for wife’s 40th birthday. Gardens and grounds are lovely, if a little tricky to access.

Room was in ok condition, decor looked a little tired but clean, fresh and acceptable.

What was NOT acceptable was the exceptionally thin walls between our room and next. When you could hear the next room using the bathroom clearly and also being woke at midnight to the sound of a group of drunken guests next door it does ruin the stay.

I can’t stress how clearly we could hear them, we we woke we at first thought people had came into our room.

We rang to reception who then rang/called the room and they did quieten eventually but it did take the shine off our stay over and took us to 1am to get back to sleep.

Tired the next morning we got a 1/2 apology from the reception.

The app wouldn’t let us book dinner at the restaurant and there was no tables free when we arrived, ate at the bar. Expensive enough for what it was.

Would look elsewhere in future which is pity as it has stunning grounds and potential.

Poor lighting in superior room as was there for an event really struggled to put make up on right as did my partner when he had to trim his beard into shape. Same for the bathroom lighting. Room could have done with another mirror in another place.
Not great choice of hotel food menu.
Bed not big enough for 2 grown adults especially if adult size are not petite.

The room was clean and the bathroom although it needed some minor maintence to the basin tap (wear and tear problem).
The staff were very freindly and helpful We had a bar snack in the evening which was good ad was breakfast.
Overall very good value so very happy with the experience.
As others have said, the promotional picture does give the impression that you will be staying in a grand old bulding so this is misleading, as the hotel block is modern and not attached to the old building.

I was surprised this is considered a 4* hotel. Conditions okay but basically the same as a premier inn; I was hoping for better for the price. We asked for a refund for our breakfast as avocado on toast and a mushroom omelette took over half an hour to come out and when it did it was cold. The coffee machine was only working intermittently and the quality of the coffee wasn’t great. The pool itself was lovely but generally all the decor was quite tired and shabby

The hotel stay was fine as I was at the hotel for a conference. The breakfast was very limited and not the most enjoyable. I had the Turkey Christmas meal for my evening meal and it was very processed and not very good. The chairs in the restaurant were covered in stains which was very of putting. In the evening we found the bar area to be very limited and this caused people to splinter off. The rooms are adequate if not a bit small but the walls are so thin you can hear the Tv in the room either side and at one point I thought someone standing in the corridor was actually in my room.

A wonderful stay and a place we will definitely re-visit. My youngest has autism and often struggles in unfamiliar environments, but the suite we had was calming, clean and large. The restaurant and breakfast were lovely. A nice relaxing break after a busy morning of walking around the Warner Bros studios

I am a vegetarian. I ordered veggie sausages for my breakfast. I waited 20 mins before asking for them, only to be told they forgot. I wouldn't have been annoyed if there had been many people in the restaurant, but I was 1 of 3!

The radiator in the bathroom was not working as well, so that was a little annoying.

The stay at the hotel was disappointing this time. Usually a lot better!

The room was nice but a bit tired. The bed was comfortable, pillows suited me, but might be too hard for some. The towel rail in the bathroom didnt seem to work, the wardrobe was propped up on a couple of bits of wood, the walls were covered in scuff marks. The staff were friendly, and I didn't eat in the reataurant.

We were informed upon arrival that the restaurant would not be open due to an event that had been booked. We are understanding and know that this is a venue for events, however I had not been informed of this prior to my visit and had booked the hotel for the purpose of the restaurant. Instead, we were sat in a very small bar with many other hotel guests. The staff were accommodating despite this and sorted a new table for us, but it would have been greatly appreciated if we were to have been informed of this before our stay so that we could have found somewhere else to eat.

Arrived a few hours ahead of check in time, but went to ask if we could check in early, just off chance, but the lady at reception was very abrupt and dismissive with us, telling us there was no chance: wouldn’t have been a problem but just found her a bit rude & felt she could have handled it better. Room was cold, put heating on and then it was too hot - no happy in between. Could hear doors opening and closing through the night as the walls were thin. Didn’t try the breakfast so cannot comment on that. The room was clean, beds comfy & we didn’t struggle for parking, and was within 10 minutes by car of WB studios which is why we were there. Not bad for what it was.

Feel the photos on the advert were quite misleading. A lot seem to be taken from the back of the property and the old reception, arrival a glass annex reception around the side of the main house was a bit deflating as it didn't met the expectations.
For the price the hotel is comfortable and welcoming, breakfast and the bar were nice, it just didn't meet the expectations.

A little disappointing really. I needed an extra night and asked at reception. I offered to use Hotels.com again but they booked direct. On check out I found I was charged considerably more. When questioned I was told that maybe there was an event or they were fully booked. I can assure you none of those were true. This was never mentioned at the time so i feel that i was ripped off a little. I certainty wont be staying here again or recommending it to my colleagues.

Room in pretty good condition with comfortable beds. The public areas are quite run down though. Evidence of may damp / water leak issues. The. Plaster around the window in the dining room literally fell off in front of us. Same issues upstairs in the bar. The issue seems to be blocked gutters so very easy to solve but looks like no one has tried. The staff were all friendly enough, food varied between average and good but always edible. This place could be a gold mine with Harry Potter world just around the corner. Just a bit of effort could transform this hotel into something really special.

The hotel on arrival looks wonderful, very pretty Manor House. We also had the luck of receiving a free complementary upgrade to a room in the Manor House. The room was very nice, modern, Updated technology and great decor. The shower was a little grubby and could do with a deeper clear around the shower door but other than that we were happy with the room.
We had breakfast included within our stay, this is the downfall to our trip. We arrived in the breakfast area which was quite small and overcrowded. The staff were stood chatting while we waited for instruction, there was also multiple dirty tables. We were pointed in the direction of a small table tucked in the corner with very limited space. We then helped ourselves to a buffet style breakfast. Unfortunately the sausages were undercooked and pink in the middle, both mine and my partners. We raised this with staff, who weren’t appropriately trained as panicked and didnt know what to do (leaving the tray of potentially uncooked sausages out) the manager then inspected the sausages and took one into the kitchen (still leaving the sausages out) they then proceeded to let someone plate up some sausages before taking the tray away into the kitchen and informing us that they were re-cooking the sausages and apologised. I then raised that they had allowed someone to take some from the dish knowing they were not satisfactory, to which they said the person would be fine. This was a disappointing end to our stay unfortunately.

Don’t be fooled by the glamorous photos of the main house unless you are at an event you will not see any of it. The hotel annexe smells like a frat party left there jock straps behind a radiator and the room was filthy. Dirty big cobweb above the bed, make up still on the shower and the bathroom floor and work top were filthy. Decided to opt for the nachos with chilli, £3 extra for a teaspoon worth of chilli, I think not complained and got at least another 2 teaspoons worth, was cold and lacking any flavour. Asked the waitress if they got the tips and she laughed said no, hate that shows pure greed! Buffet breakfast was cold but choice was okay. Pool was severely overly chlorinated to the point it stung my eyes. Only positive point was it was a 10min drive from Warner Brothers studio, tired and lacking atmosphere. Place is geared to events and not for hotel guests, save yourself the grief and go somewhere else.

Staff were amazing....I've stayed here a few times and they've always looked after me.

Just slightly bigger than a double bed for the main room, and then some steps up to a wardrobe/ dresser, and then a bathroom. Bed was super comfy and the pool was ok. Bar had the main lights on so not much atmosphere. Overall it was ok but wouldn't rush to come back unless there was a big discount on

Lovely little hotel. Unfortunately the pool wasn't open whenever I was hoping to use the facilities, otherwise very happy.

Yes, there are a few small thing that weren't great:

- the 'array of teas and coffee' was a bit of a stretch (2xEnglish breakfast tea, 2 x sachet of Nescafe and 2 x sachet of de-caf Nescafe coffee)

- bathroom door had warped at the bottom due to shower water escaping

- fixtures a bit wobbly in the bathroom

but otherwise, the place was great - quiet and clean and everything I needed for my stay.
The offer of a free drink if you didn't request a clean in your room was very much appreciated

more milk and types of tea/coffee would have been lovely

Superior twin was NOT superior. Small cramped room, dark, no telephone, dark in corner where wardrobe situated (i.e. no lighting into a black wardrobe unit!) difficulty in shaving/putting on makeup in bathroom due to inadequate/badly placed lighting (couldn't use mirror in room as dark and table light dim) POOL NOT IN USE (had booked specifically as this hotel had a pool) being fobbed off daily due to 'chlorine levels' even though children swimming lessons taking place!!!! Breakfast mostly luke warm! This was a 70th birthday 'treat' whilst visiting Warner Bros. We did not 'make a fuss' due to wanting to enjoy our stay and made the best of it. Informed reception on checkout.

Disappointing with poor accessibility

Very disappointed with our stay. Shabby decor that is desperate for replacement; staff who didnt seem bothered; poor disabled accessibility; incorrect information on website.
On arrival, we were met by a steep set of stairs that led to reception. On inquiry, we were told that wheelchair access was at a different entrance which was not signposted. This other entrance was beyond some gravel which is difficult when pushing a wheelchair. The ramps had been removed so we had to hunt for a member of staff to help. The staff eventually put the temporary ramps in but these didnt fit well meaning that there was a small ledge to get the wheelchair over.
The rooms were small with multiple marks on the walls and a bathroom that needed new taps and other decoration. The tap in the sink hardly moved so cold water was unattainable. Our TV didnt work and the hair dryer was so dusty that we didnt dare use it.
We booked a table for dinner via the website for 5.30 but turns out they dont start food til 6pm - but this was in the formal restaurant and not the 'bar menu'. The bar was poorly staffed, expensive with poor provision of tables and accessible options - all stairs. In the end, we decided to eat elsewhere as we knew it would be a disaster.
So glad we were only there for 1 night. Didnt feel it was value for money at all. If anyone in your party has mobility issues, choose somewhere else!

Great location to WB Studios

Great location if you are visiting WB studios, the room was clean and nice, TV remote broken. The room was definitely any of the rooms shown on the website though, it was clean and comfortable but cramped, with a tiny window, do felt very dark.
The bar area to get food was very small, we waited a good 5 minutes for someone to appear to take our order, not friendly, didn't give us a total bill, we had to ask how much it came to and wouldnt give us a receipt. The foid was good, just tye service, atmosphere and decor was lacking, our table had someones initals carved into it! On these impressive, i wouldnt book again.

Disappointing.

Our stay started well but unfortunately this did not continue.
A jacket had been left from a previous guest in our room in the hanging area.
Also sadly a wedding was taking place on the day of our departure which resulted in a large number of hotel guests shouting to one another in the corridor where our room was from 7am in the morning about the wedding set up etc and moving items from the rooms to the wedding venue. Which disturbed our sleep. So much so on 2 occasions I went out and asked them to keep the noise down.

Room was clean and beds were comfortable. Minor maintenance issue in our room, however the staff were quite to resolve this and move us to another room.

Beautiful but slow service and no aircon

Beautiful location, lovely gardens. Limited menu and no one ebert around to serve you. Multiple times trying to find someone.

Worst part: \"air con\" ... Yeah it was in the room, but it's not fit for use. A desk fan would have been stronger. Not what you want when you specifically book because it says it has it and it's 30+ degrees

Prefacing this by saying I’m not angry, it’s just disappointing as I have to stay here for work. Woke up to a the sound of staff shouting and arguing in the corridor outside my room about shower heads. The next day woke to an event with loads of drumming in the gardens. Cracking.

Tried to eat in the bar on day one at designated hours but there was an event on so no food at all was being served. Waited half an hour for staff to tell me that because there were no staff around. A cleaner even asked if I was still waiting. Was asked to wait an hour due to the conference. Ordered. Waited 45 minutes further as someone cut their hand which is unavoidable of course and I hope they are okay, but it’s all just really not good enough?

I don’t mind any of these things if I’m informed. It seems unless you are paying thousands for a wedding or a conference, the service you receive is poorrrrrr. Though I will say individuals are not to blame- I’ve not met a staff member that was not wonderful but the processes are clearly a mess.

My meal came and I ordered a side with my meal of red slaw due to allergies. The kitchen sent my meal with regular slaw as they had run out of red slaw but DIDNT tell me- which I could have eaten by mistake and had a medical emergency. I’m sure you’ll agree, also not great.
