The Empire Riverside Hotel was a great option for a first time visit to Hamburg! Located in St Pauli between the Reeperbahn and the St Pauli Piers, you had walking access to not only St Pauli itself, but also Altona, Neustadt, and the City Centre, all within roughly 20-30 minutes. Having easy access to the Piers, made it easy to see the area by water, on either a local city cruise or a river cruise of the Elbe. St Pauli is also full of shops and restaurants, which means you have easy access to food. And, the hotel itself was great, offering amazing views of the surrounding area. The staff were great and able to accommodate any issues that came up. Highly recommend staying at the Empire if you’re visiting Hamburg or St Pauli.

The property is located near the port however directly behind the hotel is the St Pauli area which is what we would consider the red light area. A lot of strip shows and appeared to be girls working on the side street. Probably not a family area. In saying that it was close to the Beatles walking tours and close walking distance down to pier and back into the city centre. The hotel was good expensive for what we got and the air conditioning not working so room was 26 degrees and it was only 28 degrees outside so was not comfortable coming in from the heat. We did eventually get moved to another room which the air conditioning was set to 23 degrees so better. The cocktail bar on 20th floor had a nice view over the port at night.

Staff was very friendly. Needed an early check-in and wad able to get it for an additional cost (worth it). View and the room was great! Only thing that was tough to figure out was the AC unit. Location of the hotel was great. Once of the nicest hotels I’ve stayed at and would stay here again.

The architecture of the building is very beautiful, the room itself is small considering the price of stay. You are only paying for the view from your room and some freebies provided. For a 4 star hotel, the service I experienced was poor. I requested room service and was promised that they would arrive at a specified time, however they did not arrive. The toilet in my room was clogged and I was not able to use this during my stay.

Lovely hotels with wonderful rooms and all the basic amenities. Would recommend staying as long as you like exercise because the key cards demagnetize if you look at them wrong — they must be praised and cajoled and need never be near anything that lets off the slightest electronic signal or you’ll be back downstairs to rekey the card yet again — 3 night stay and I think I had to do it about 8 times this trip.

This hotel was a lovely option near the river. There are loads of dining and drinking options nearby. The room was lovely and the view, amazing! We didn't opt for breakfast but the sushi made to order was outstanding!!! The roof top bar on level 20 is wonderful for an evening cocktail and hotel guests are given a priority are.

Upgraded to a premium room with king size bed……what we got was 2 single beds pushed together and 2 single duvets! On the 19th floor with great views…until the nightclub on the 20th floor kicks In until 1am every night.
Prices on drinks lists were different to the bill, so check all your receipts before you pay! Espresso martinis advertised at €11 and charged at €12.
Restaurants closed on Saturday and Sunday nights to residents.
Stay at a lot of hotels and this was not one of the worst but wouldn’t stay here again.

Construction was going on above our room for two hours after we arrived, exceptionally loud. The room was exceedingly hot and the air conditioner also was quite noisy. Staff provided us with a room fan during the night. The view was amazing, but we had to keep the curtains closed in the morning due to the sun shining into the hot room. The breakfast buffet was superb, and we also enjoyed our dinner in the hotel

It was an excellent stay. We did a trip with several hotel stays and this one was definitely the highlight of the week. We got a room on the 12th floor with water views and it was so nice to look at the river.

definitely not a 4 star hotel, NO air conditioning, at least none that worked (we switched rooms)! I paid extra in order to have a/c in the 30 deg C weather and ended up sweating and uncomfortable.
Also, no in room water heater.
very friendly and helpful front desk staff though.

The reception staff were not very helpful at all. However the bar staff were wonderful. Also, with a hotel this size I would have thought that room service would have been standard. With international travelers arriving from all over the world at different times, there is nowhere for them to eat past 22:00 pm. I had to walk the streets of Hamburg to find food when I arrived at 22:45. Not good!

This is the most frustrating high-end hotel I have ever stayed at. The staff is lazy, treated us like we were unwelcomed and asked to see our hotel keys before letting us in the front door. Kicked us out of the hotel garage because it a public garage and they don’t reserve room for their guests. If you want room service don’t think about ordering it until they let you, at NOON! the rooms are a minimalistic design meaning there was no chair, all walks are white and blank.

If you get a RIVERSIDE room - it faces the CITY!

The spa was quite disappointing. Only a cold pool in a room full of lounge chairs.

Good side: food and bathrooms are excellent. Even so, the staff seems to ruin your evening at every turn.

Very disappointed, especially because I booked multiple rooms and was treated like a nuisance!

The hotel was very nice. The front desk personnel were friendly and helpful with advise on getting around the city. It was a short walk to the Landesbruken U and S Bahn station. Shorter walk to the Reeperbahn U station, but had to endure the \"adult\" shops on the way. Christmas markets in Hamburg were excellent.

It’s a great hotel for location to the port if you are going on a cruise. Also close to trains. Cost about $40 dollars from airport by cab. About $15 dollars from Hotel to port. I’d given this 4 stars for room comfort but the room temperature will only go 3 degrees lower than it is outside. We happen to be there when it was in the 80’s so we were too hot while trying to sleep.
The restaurant was absolutely spectacular! Food was amazing. Crem brûlée was the best I’ve ever had!!

I’ve stayed in the empire previously and it is great hotel, rooms are clean, spacious and great view over the city. We arrived early but were able to check in to the rooms .
I’d only have one complaint and that’s the cost of the breakfast, 25 euros is a bit steep especially for a family of 4.

Stopped in Hamburg for a few days to visit some family and this hotel was recommended by them. I couldn't have been happier. Room was beautiful, bathroom spotless. Noticed that when the mirror fogged up, spot in front of the sink dried first! Must be a special mirror? I can't say enough about the staff, they answered all of my questions and gave excellent directions. The breakfast was to die for, anything you could think of was there. Oh and do t miss the bar on the 20th floor for the views, music and great drinks. Great hotel.

Der Ausblick und die Lage des Hotel entschädigen für vieles. Das Personal ist freundlich. Die Ausstattung ist ganz schön in die Jahre gekommen und es gab teilweise ordentliche Schadstellen im Bad, die in einem Hotel dieser Preiskategorie nicht akzeptabel sind. Sauber war es trotzdem. Wer nicht unbedingt die Aussicht braucht, findet für den Preis sicherlich ein besseres Hotel, was einen modernen Standard bietet.

Väldigt tjusigt hotell!
jag råkade boka fel och de kunde inte lösa det så jag var tvungen att hoppa över sista natten och köpa till första natten. Det blev mycket dyrare än vad hade tänkt.

Preis ist für das Hotel deutlich zu hoch

Leider gab es noch nicht einmal im Zimmer die Möglichkeit einen Kaffee zu kochen. Also die Ausstattung im Zimmer war nicht toll. Im Vergleich zu anderen Hotels stimmt das Preis- Leistung Verhältnis leider nicht. Wir würden dieses Hotel nicht wieder buchen.

Flot udsigt, men desværre opvejer det ikke det helt utroligt lave serviceniveau. Især fra receptionen. Spaen var i stykker. Sengene var virkelig hårde og hovedpuderne helt uden støtte. Kom man senere ned til morgenmad end kl. 9.00 risikerer man at skulle sidde i lobbyen og spise, hvor der var virkelig koldt.
Værelsets indretning var identitetsløs.
Ingen kaffe eller the på værelset.
Ingen strygejern.
Ikke 4* værdigt.
