Stayed one night to attend a study day.
Lots of rooms in a very busy pub so take your noise cancelling headphones or get ear plugs from the bar.
It’s a hostel - it does what you need it to do.
It was clean, the bed was comfortable, linen was clean, two squishy pillows.
Each bed space has electric socket, light and USB port.
Room was quite warm.
There is not much room in the shower cubicles (I’m a size 16).
Paid extra for breakfast - basic buffet (Tea, coffee , juice, cereal, toast, meats and cheese, yogurt, fruits) but there was lots if you wanted more. Overall a good stay and good value.

I booked it specifically for the live music and it did not disappoint. Great venue, great people. Housed in an incredible historical building it is in great location.
A safe space for a female solo traveller that loves music. Great vibe in the hostel.

For a hostel, it's not the greatest - room was tidy but all bathrooms were dirty and run down (toilet seats hanging off). Very noisy to sleep in and other guests were ignorant about eating take away in the room at 2am. Icing on the cake was they couldn't even do luggage storage because it was January so wasted whole first day for that

I mean it's cheapish, good location and some offers on food during your stay, but it's really gone downhill since previous trips staying in st christophers

You need to be a hard sleeper or a night owl. It was impossible to get to sleep before 3am because of the live music and the guy outside who picked yelling fights with people every night I was there. The rooms were fine. The bathrooms small, but other than the sleeping bit it was fine.

Giving this review a title.

Definitely recommend this place. However few things to note.
The ground floor is a bar that has live music playing everyday from 11pm to 3am. Free ear plugs are given. It wasn't an issue for me but worth noting.

Beds have cages underneath for storage and locking and its safe and only the people that stay/work can enter your room so I felt super secure leaving my stuff there.

FREE BREAKFAST = if you book directly on their site, so don't book through here. The breakfast is your mediocre continental breakfast which is great if it is free but not worth the 4 pounds imo.

From what i recall the "reception" is closed during night, maybe 2am-7am? But if you have any issues you can go up the street to the other St Christopher's hostel where they have 24/7 reception.

Ground floor also is a resturant and the food is quite decent and being a hostel member, you get 25% which is pretty solid.

Cleanliness wise its pretty. Sheets are clean and new upon arrival so thats all that really matters. Washroom is pretty clean but you may want to bring flipflops for hygiene comfort.

Wifi was solid. by your bed you have power station with usb ports and night light, and UK power (so bring adapter)

location is good too, right between London Bridge and Borough station.

Loud is an understatement. Rooms face the 1-2 am live music bar party going on downstairs. Great place if you ONLY want to party. No common area except the roudy bar. Front desk guy absolute p rick esp about even asking for a late checkout. All other staff was pretty helpful and gave a shix.

The place is awesome. Rooms are clean. Although cleaning went late a little bit. I check inned around 2pm but the bed is not yet ready. The double decker bed doesn't rock or sway which is a plus comparing to other bed from other hostels. The only problem, major problem in this area is so loud. This place is a place for happy hours for locals. So expect loud noise till morning. Prepare for earplugs. But overall, I like this place. I will definitely stay here again.

Late night live music ruined my nights sleep. Bar food was not brilliant, wish I'd gone out to eat instead. The continental breakfast was disappointing, again, I wish I'd gone out to eat.

Too noisy to sleep until the pub shuts at 2am

I stayed on a Thursday night and there was live music in the pub directly under the dorms until 2am. Everyone in our dorm was miserable and unable to sleep. We were not warned about this in advance or apologised to afterwards. £22 to not sleep is too much. There are cheaper and better hostels in London such as the YHA in Central and Palmer's Lodge Swiss Cottage.

Room facilities and staff all pretty good but as indicated in the name of this place it is part of an inn. It stayed very loud (live music in the pub and people outside) till about 1-2 in the morning, so be warned if this will not be OK.

Comfy but loud

I stayed in a private room with a bunk bed and it was quite comfortable despite its small size. The bathrooms were minimal, extremely tiny and at times they were disgustingly dirty - bring shower shoes. Finally, it’s so loud. I was hoping some of the other reviews were false but it truly is SO loud until at least 2am when the bar closes. Our room was directly above the patio and the walls were paper thin. Thank god they provided earplugs. Overall our stay was fine because we were out exploring the city for the majority of the day. The bar is nice to get a drink before bed or if you want to party.

It was a good clean hostel well laid out with comfy, beds, the start were helpful and friendly, I stayed there, as I was working in the area, for one or 2 nights, great, any longer and I would prefer to have my own room, so a hotel would then be my choice, overall, a good exerience.

overall stay was good..the only point I would like to mention is that I would have appreciated knowing beforehand that it is situated on top of a pub and that practically prior 2 am it is impossible to sleep due to the excessive noise. Apart that hostel is well kept and staff is friendly.

Did not get to stay there in the end. I had on me a driving licence and print off of the email confirmation and a works pass with photo id on but they would not accept any of it as id so l went and stayed at Dovers court hostel instead - who were much more accommodating
I was not amused as a 53 year old british woman it was obvious who l was and having to find accomodation in london last minute was not good

so much noise

If you don't wish to get any sleep then this is the place for you. Firstly, 10.30pm the very long drums, guitars and sound singing began until 1am. During the day I bought the same drink at different intervals. The first cost me 1.20, the second cost me 3.00 and the last one I got for free. And I was put into a mixed dorm which I found a bit uncomfortable with.

The Inn is in Zone 1 of the underground. The rooms were clean and tidy and provide lock up cages for your stuff.. Just remember to bring your own padlock - I suggest a code version - not a key version. Shared rooms are clean and affordable. The rooms, although not air conditioned in summer, each room has one has a fan. Each bed has its own charging station and reading light. Linen is clean and fresh. If you are a backpacker or just a traveler spending one or two nights on your way to other destinations this is perfect. Breakfast (included - just the basics) in the morning is buffet style and provides you a good start for the day. I was really impressed that they also offered storage for your bags if you needed a secure place to store them between check out and when you needed to leave to catch your next flight. The staff were pleasant and helpful in regards to local information. I have already booked my next stay as it provides a safe, clean place to stay when i am transiting through London. It is also simple to get to and from Stansted and Heathrow as the northern line connects to most of the central stations. Just beware of peak hour Underground times and try and travel outside of these as it may take longer than expected. Overall this is a Hostel i will continue to use in the future.

A good hostel for travelling and amusement

There is a good pub on the ground floor where you can have a delicious british meal.
The staffs are friendly and kind.
With a storage where you can put your baggage or luggage.

Good stay overall but not happy.

The hostel I stayed at St Christophers inn is located just over a busy pub. My room were located just overlooking the beer garden. So if you can't sleep thru noice this isn't for you. The rooms were nice enough but the staff really needs to start to knock b4 entering a room. They also threw stuff away like crisps and bread without even asking if it was ours and yes we were in the room at the time. I would recommend people to stay at St Christophers village instead which is located only 100 meters up the same road. The village is also where the actual reception is for both of the hostels and also where you get the free breakfast. The one thing I am happy about is that I met some good people and it's a good location just 10 mins from London Bridge from where u can see Tower bridge and take some nice photos.

One of the better London hostels

Definitely one of the better London hostels that I've stayed in,though you can read what you like into that cause some of the others were complete dives. Very noisy outside and in the corridors. A marching brass band could not have made anymore noise than the cleaning staff did at about 06.30 in the morning in the corridors and the bathroom next door. Fortunately I had to get up around that time anyway. I was in a 4 bed room. It was basic but ok,and represented decent value given the location etc etc. As it happened there was only 1 other person in the room and fortunately for me she was quiet,tidy and considerate,and went to bed at a reasonable time,which helped. In other hostels I've had other guests staying there coming in at 2 or 3 in the morning drunk turning the light on and talking loudly,which obviously affects your experience of that establishment although it's not really the hostels fault.

Good for one or two nights

There was only one bathroom close to the room, and the stairs were not easy to climb, even in the best condition. The beds weren't particularly comfortable, but everything was clean and the people were nice and friendly. Reception was down the block from the actual Inn, so you couldn't just run down there if you needed something. The wifi also only really worked in the bar, not the rooms. I'd say it's good for a night or two, but not any more than that

The whole neighborhood was in party mood, and the first floor of the hostel was a crowded bar. Fantastic if you are looking for that kind of stuff but I was just looking for a bed to sleep in so got a bit noisy for my taste.

nice hostel, great overnight stay

Place is a hostel (not a hotel), so plenty of young bacpackers - not an issue at all, but just to be noted. My room was a 4-bed dorm, very clean, with great quality mattress. While the entrance is on a busy street, room was quiet enough for a good overnight stay. for this price can't ask for better than that... and I forgot to mention free breakfast!

An okay place to stay, but watch out for the pub.

I stayed for five nights (Sat-Wed) as my last stop on a a European holiday. It should be noted that I stayed at the St. Christopher's Inn, not St. Christopher's Village (located about two blocks away, the Village houses reception for both of them, which was a bit inconvenient but not a huge problem). While the room itself was adequate (I stayed in a six bed dorm), the issue of temperature control was my main problem. While I realize A/C can't be expected in a hostel at this price, the window (which only opens about 3 inches before running into a stopper) opens directly over an outdoor pub area, which means noise is also an issue. I was forced to choose between a slight breeze (through the 3 inch gap in the window) or the loud noise from the pub until 2 AM. I arrived quite tired on a Saturday, and was expecting to sleep at a reasonable hour (midnight), but no, I was kept awake by the pub patrons until 2 AM. When I went to reception the next day to try to move rooms or get switched to the Village, I was told that it was "impossible" to get moved. I endured this constant back and forth between comfort and noise for the next four nights, which were some of the worst nights of sleep I've ever gotten. On the bright side, the staff are friendly enough (but no one that works at the pub was British, and my American accent was apparently indecipherable). The location was good, about a two minute walk from the London Bridge tube station. All in, I won't be staying here again.

Comfortable beds, noisy location

I stayed in a private twin room in June 2014.

This hostel is in an interesting part of London and seems pretty good value on price and location. There were a couple of points I take issue with - there weren't enough toilets in my part of the building, and at peak time in the evening there was no hot water at the wash hand basin. It also didn't strike me as very secure - the window to our first floor room opened very easily, and the scaffolding outside meant that anyone could have climbed in. Make sure you bring padlocks for your suitcases/lockers.

It is also very noisy - even though I was there on a Tuesday night, there were party animals in the alley outside my window until past 2am. Make use of the free ear plugs!

Worst place I've ever stayed!

This is the absolute worst place ever! Right after we got there from a 8 hour flight, 2 hours in customs, and one hour in the tube they almost didn't let us stay. I went with my three 17 year old sisters and you have to stay with an adult. I'm 19. They said you need a uncle or parent even though I'm 19 and it only said "responsible adult" I didn't seem to qualify. They only let us stay because we wouldn't have found anything else, little did we know that it would have been better to be kicked out! The website said "private room" and "private bathroom"'but our room was only big enough for the 2 bunk beds and only had one outlet. The bathroom was for everyone and was tiny and discusting. Then every night till 3 am we could hear loud drunk people from outside and every moring at 5:30 am there was constructing right, I mean right outside our window! They didn't clean it while we were there either! And it was almost $1000 for the 5 nights. Never EVER stay there!!!!!

Clean and functional

Room was basic but spotless with comfortable bunk beds and bedding. We didn't realise that we had to buy towels - wish they had directly offered at reception - and that was a pain when we got to our room at 11pm as going back to the check in 5 minutes down the street wasn't really an option once we had got in. Pub below was very noisy but ear plugs worked well and for the price - £24 a head - you cant expect more. Breakfast also good - plenty of toast and cereal and staff were friendly and helpful. Perfect for students and twenty somethings - a bit of a blast from the past for a 45 yr old mum and her parents!

Aside from loud drunkards at late hours, couldn't ask for more from the location. Close to London Bridge Station, which was a convenient hub, and there were enough places to hit up in the surrounding area to entertain, including a very charming market! Sadly, the beds were quite tiny and not terribly comfortable. Clean and well maintained though. The kicker was the pub downstairs and down the road at the other St Christopher location as they were a hoot! Definitely a great spot if you're in London to party and drink, and worth considering as a place to rest your head if you're in town for other reasons.

Cheap but maybe not so cheerful

This place is exceptionally good value and our room (four bunks) was sparse but clean and perfectly adequate for our purposes. It is very well located with easy access to tubes, and I would use it again if funds were scarce. However, the toilets....stay away from the toilets, and don't even think about stepping foot in the shower (all shared and very, very unclean). Also we were told when we arrived that we could not get in without ID. My companions (three others) had ID but I, as the person who booked the room, had only brought the credit card I had booked with. Apparently that was not sufficient as ID because I could have stolen it (!) even though one of my companions was my son, with the same surname (a very, very rare one) so unless I had also stolen him, then that scenario was very unlikely. There was nothing in my booking confirmation or that I could find on the hotels.com website to say that a particular kind of ID was required or I would have brought it but as a middle-aged woman I did not think for one minute I would need it on a trip to London. We did eventually persuade the staff that we were not terrorists and got in, but it took quite some doing. So be aware, take ID.
