The room was clean and the staff very courteous and helpful. The room however was very disappointing. The double bed was pushed up against the wall that meant you could get out of the bed one side. This disrupted our sleep as my wife and I do get out of bed during the night. It’s a double bed in a room only suitable for a single bed.

The staff were accommodating and stored my bag pre-check in. However, the room wasn’t great at all. The mattress was as hard as a brick, the noise from the busy street outside and adjoining/upstairs rooms meant I had a terrible and uncomfortable night’s sleep. Plus, everything was dusty and the towels had stains.

Maybe I just got a bad room but £150 a night for that is absolutely crazy.

- Friendly welcoming reception staff.
- The room was clean
- WiFi was fine.
- Bathroom was clean and looked newly fitted.

Negatives:
- The “double” room was very pokey - the bed pushed up against the wall so one occupant had to clamber into bed. The floor plan showed that ours was the smallest room on our floor, so will likely do better.
- one of the window panes was cracked.
- the double glazed windows in the bathroom hadn’t been properly fitted so the was an air gap that allowed a draft around the edges.
- One small chair.
- Light from the landing seeped all around the room door, a bit off putting when trying to sleep.
- A rather dilapidated stand in the corner for tea/coffee.

The staff were amazing, very accommodating and friendly. It’s an older building so the walls are paper thin which unfortunately deters me from staying here again. I got woken up by other patrons being loud in the hallway and I was woken up in the middle of the night by my neighbors having sex so hard their bed was ramming the wall I shared with them. I could also hear every moan the couple made. Thankfully that didn’t last long. There is a complimentary breakfast which a perk but the options were extremely limited. It was only beans, eggs yogurt and toast. Honestly, I feel bad for leaving this poor of a review because the staff was amazing but amazing staff doesn’t out way the negatives.

Such warm, friendly staff! A very quirky hotel with themed decor on each floor ! Rooms are very well equipped with fridge, ironing board, hairdryer - which was perfectly situated beneath a mirror ! Plenty of tea and coffee and a good sized TV. Fruit and water was included in the room. Breakfast was a bonus and Eva who ran the dining room was really friendly and helpful.
Left out of the hotel we discovered am amazing Italian restaurant - The taste of Naples !! Amazing and live opera on Friday nights !!

The hotel is a short walk from the Elephant & Castle underground stop, and they were able to store my luggage for me despite arriving earlier than check-in. The room was clean, and the breakfast was filling. Definitely recommend.

Cheap and cheerful hotel in a very pricy city. On the edge of the last bit of not totally gentrified london but still pretty gentrified. There's a great little pub around the corner towards Elephant and castle, there's some good caribean takeaway down past Elephant and Castle. The breakfast is plentiful, the staff are friendly. Have stayed twice now. Not fancy at all, but it's a bed in London at a reasonable price.

Excellent location, super friendly front desk and staff. Always offering free tea, coffee, water cookies and snacks in the Lobby. This must be a mom and pops type hotel as the staff really wants you to be happy staying there. The buffet breakfast was also very good. The only drawback is the rooms are very small, nowhere to unpack your clothes. Apparently in the Central areas, space is at a premium and most hotels have rooms that are small. If you are staying a one to four nights, it shouldn’t bother you too much, because this hotel is so closes to everything south of the Thames. When booking any Central hotel, compare the size (Sq meters) and you won’t regret your choice. I would comeback to this Hotel because of the way I was treated by the Front desk Staff.

Interesting and good use of available space. It is a small, clean property.
Aesthetically interesting. Gratis candy/treats in the lobby. Beds are comfortable but when requesting a double/full bed (for a couple) you will get 2 twins pushed together and still a fairly wide gap between the beds.
Though the location is touted as being in a central location; it is not. London is a huge city so decide first what area you want to spend most of your time in and make your hotel decision on that. This neighborhood was a bit sketchy and not particularly walkable. Breakfast is included, nice set-up and opens at 0730. The lady who works the area is lovely. Basic breakfast fare. Expresso machine was waiting for repair but the drip coffee was fine. Do check your room windows. Ours had been left open which, to me, was a safety issue as well as cold. The Front Desk staff (? owners) were a bit brusque. Don't ask a question twice! I don't think I'd stay there again but this was a last minute trip so it served it's purpose. You will have a big UBER bill.

The only thing that I didn't like was that the hotel turn off the air-conditioning if the temperature outside it's a little chilly, but its warm inside, and if you want your room a little cooler you have to open a windows, and here all the noises from outside.
The staff was very helpful and nice, they will help you with everything as much as they can, if and when I come back to London, I may stay in the same hotel.

Pros:
This hotel has a great location. You can walk to most locations within 30 minutes. If that’s too far off a walk, you have an abundance of e-bikes and e-scooters available all around the area. They have a free continental breakfast you can take advantage of in the morning before you head out on your exploration journey.
Con:
The hotel lobby isn’t 24 hours. They close from midnight to 7am. If you don’t make it by then, there is no one available to check you in. I didn’t ask if they have a number you can call if you come in with those hours, so it would be in the best interest to have a back up plan or contact the hotel to see if arrangements can be made.
Not all rooms have A/C. If you want a room with A/C make sure to ask the hotel clerk about it when checking in. Although the time of year right now ( mid August) the room without A/C wasn’t to bad as long as you had the windows open. There were periods of high humidity, but it was tolerable. And if you’re out sightseeing during the day, it really has no effect. We didn’t get back in until 8pm, so the day and the room was cool enough.

Overall it’s was a great experience and my daughter and I enjoyed it.

The hotel was ever so slightly out of the way (but that was why we chose it) but very easy to find and close to three tube stops as well as being just up the road from Borough Market/London Bridge and the fantastic Imperial War Museum. All of the staff were great, it was welcoming and well prepared...never stressful. The simple continental breakfast being included for all guests was a nice touch as were the free drinks and fruit. Would absolutely stay here again.

Overall, had a pleasant experience. The room and restroom were small, but we expected it due to reviews. On our first night we had an issue with water from AC pouring into the restroom from ceiling. We alerted staff and they immediately moved us to another room. I appreciated the quick response as it was a safety concern. We ate breakfast at the hotel and Mariam provided great service.

On arrival I was very warmly welcomed by all staff. Offered a drink ,sweets,biscuits etc. We needed food so SHAHRAM the Manager told us about a pub 1 minute walk away and gave us a leaflet for 10% off. Very friendly and a nice touch. Room was clean,tidy and goid value for the price. Breakfast was adequate but a cooked breakfast would have been even better. Very handy for the metro 7 minute walk to Southwark, borough or Elephant and castle metro's. Would definitely stay again.

Very convenient budget hotel. The staff were very nice and accommodating, the free breakfast is better than no breakfast. Convenience store is few steps away, 20min walk to London bridge and Borough Market, also nearby church and restaurants on the street about 5-10mins walk. The room is very compressed (ideal for single travelers), tight for a 2-person with luggage (in fairness, our 4 luggage was able to fit in the room but we have tight walking space. No table or microwave in the room so if you want to eat in your room, you gotta sit in the bed. There is a fridge and daily water, coffee, fruits. The bed was not the best, I found it uncomfortable but if you're not picky, this is the best place so far given a lot of pros rather than the said cons I said in this review. I would definitely stay here again by myself. The neighbor seemed safe except for some noise that is totally tolerable. We stayed for 3 nights and I can absolutely recommend this hotel for long stays. Thank you City London Hotel!

Very clean bedroom and bathroom. My room fronted onto the main street, so occasionally there was traffic noise and the occasional siren, but the building itself was very quiet. I basic buffet breakfast, which was nice, but could be made better with a selection of fruit. Walking distance to bus and metro stops. Good value, and I will be staying here again in future.

The rooms were smaller than expected, for their “family room” that fit 3 people there wasn’t enough room for our travel backpacks to all be out at the same time and if we wanted floor space we needed to put them under the bed. If we had had full sized suitcases it would not have been good. But overall a great little hotel!

Very good location, close to the metro, 26 minutes walk to Big Ben. The receptionist was very helpful and nice. The breakfast was ok, you can choose something. The room was small, and if I were the owners I would sometimes check the cleanliness after the cleaning ladies, because it spoils the whole opinion. I will definitely recommend this hotel to my friends and I will go back there myself.
