Stayed there from 3-6.March, the first night woke up in the middle of the night, there was no water available in the toilet.

Last night, we received a message indicating there were problems with the water and a maintenance would be done between 11pm and 6am. The maintenance got extended until 8:30am.

Tried to contact staff to get some additional water bottles to \"survive\" the morning, you know, the basics, wash hands and face, tried to contact them via phone from the room 5 times, once someone picked up just to hang up immediately; tried to do so via the \"live chat\" QR they offer in the room, no one answered, and Whatsapp (also offered as a service to contact them from the room), no one answered.

I have stayed at Apex before, at their two locations in London, but this time the lack of responsiveness was the worst part and extremely annoying. Note to say, unavailable when you need them.

Definitely won't stay there again.

This is probably the first review i've ever written in about 15 years of using Hotels.com but our stay at the Apex is worth it!
We were coming to stay overnight for my partners birthday and once Rahul and the team found out they absolutely blew us away with a complimentary upgrade, and room decorations, including a balloon and little cakes! We nearly missed it until check out but they even hand wrote a little personalised birthday card for him!
Absolutely above and beyond what was expected and made it such a memorable day.

Apex City of London Hotel

Apex is a lovely hotel, and I would definitely recommend it. The location is excellent — just a few minutes’ walk from the Tower of London, making it very convenient for exploring the city.

I highly recommend booking the full breakfast option. It’s delicious, with a wide variety of choices and great quality overall — a perfect way to start the day.

The staff was extremely helpful when we encountered a minor issue with our room. We were initially assigned a room without windows, which made it feel a bit like sleeping in a capsule. However, the team was very attentive, proactive, and genuinely eager to assist. They offered us different options to resolve the situation, which we truly appreciated.

Overall, I would rate my stay a solid 9 out of 10.

We came back to this hotel after a fabulous time in the summer but were disappointed by the staff at reception and in the bar who were churlish and unfriendly ( although not all of them) . The need to provide ID. On checking in is ridiculous and when queried was met with a ridiculous explanation of the need to prove who I was


The rooms are very comfortable however and we love the location of the hotel

I’ve used the Apex City of London for many years off and on, for me it’s still a great hotel. Well located, large enough to offer good facilities but small enough to still have a personal touch. This stay was up to the mark; good reception/check in, very clean room which was well maintained and a very enjoyable breakfast in The Lampery. With the exception of a rude and uninterested barman, the staff were all very good, helpful and attentive. I got a very deal on hotels.com and would certainly book again if I was able to get the same deal.

I stay at Apex every 5 months or so, usually bringing a couple of colleagues. There was a new front desk staff again. I went three times last year and between June and November there was a whole new staff and new software, they didn’t know I was a regular guest.

The elevator in the back area was out of order so had to use the service elevator. There’s usually one of the two front lobby elevators out and the bag lift/ handicap access has been unusable for years.

My first room had no power in the bathroom. I was moved to a smaller darker room. My colleague arrived and I saw her in the elevator - she was unable to get into her room as the key cards weren’t activated. She was wheeling her luggage back to the desk.

I’m usually there in March every year for a week with several colleagues from US, EU and UK - I moved hotels now in 2026 for the first time since 2014.

Apex has good amenities. The seating area is quiet and comfortable, there are desks for working collaboratively and an on site restaurant is always a plus.

While our stay at the hotel was pleasant and the location offered convenient access to the Tube, we encountered a significant issue regarding a booking error. Due to a scheduling oversight on Expedia and ourselves we inadvertently double-booked a stay in Paris. When we arrived we reached out to the hotel directly to request a refund for four unused nights. Although Expedia advocated on our behalf, the hotel management chose to strictly enforce the original contract and denied the refund. While we acknowledge the booking was our error, we are disappointed by the lack of flexibility, which resulted in a $1,200 loss for our family.\"

We came for our anniversary. When we arrived there was only one person on reception and a queue of people. Finally after someone complained another member of staff came who was lovely. We ordered breakfast for both days. Our room was ok but very noisy. If you are by bars and clubs in London you would expect better soundproofing. We were woken regularly through both nights with swearing and shouting- not exactly the romantic getaway we hoped for. We came for breakfast at 9am - there was nothing to say avoid busy times- it was packed and majority of the buffet was empty - no fruit, no cheese no hams, etc. the coffee was subpar. For £19 a person it was shocking. We cancelled our second breakfast but were basically told it was our fault for going at a busy time. We were given a voucher for free drinks as an apology but were then told the bar and restaurant were basically closed for an event so we would have to sit somewhere else. We went down before the bar closed for the events and were made to feel unwelcome - in fact the party guests who ordered after us got their drinks first and then it was clear we had been forgotten when the barman asked what we were waiting for.

The only positive of the whole weekend was Robert who went above and beyond at dinner on Friday and then again checking in on us on Saturday.

When we reported our disappointment at reception we were told they couldn’t really do anything about noise as they were located in a busy space in London

Great location, lovely warm welcome with mince pies and mulled wine. A much surprised upgrade and a drinks voucher each. Beautiful clean and large room with a big deep bath which was amazing after a day of walking round London. It was just the most perfect stay.

Great location for the business needs of my trip, very convenient to Tower Hill and Fenchurch, short walk to Liverpool Street station. Housekeeping was a bit off this visit -- just small things like a cleaning rag left in the room, breakfast crumbs left in the desk -- but overall, I enjoyed my stay and will likely visit again.
