We had a fabulous time. As we have never been to all inclusive before and we choose half board it did take me a couple of days to get my head around a couple of issues, mainly having to pay for water and coffee after breakfast. Overall a wonderful stay. Rooms are beautiful, every room has a view of the sea. As a buffet goes the food was good to very good some nights and plenty of variety.

Rooster in garden makes a homely feel together with sound of ocean. Beach chairs and umbrellas just a step down from room we were in. Open restaurant. Is pleasant looking out over activity of boats taking out tour groups or and the sunset. Bathroom condition is tired and no towel rails. Supermarket close by which is handy as there is fridge, kettle and 4 burner hot plate but no supplies or water. There are some nice restaurants and some clothing and boat tour shops very close. P

We loved our stay at Villas Caroline. We visited for our friend’s wedding on the beach, which was beautifully organised by the hotel. Our room was a welcome cool temperature from the heat outside. The balcony overlooking the sunset was a great way to spend our evenings. Staff were always happy to help, whether it be food requirements, taxi booking or spa services, any request we had they were happy to help. We can’t imagine staying anywhere else on the island.

Pros: safe parking. The hotel is in front of the beach. Excellent staff. Clean rooms. Good beds.
Cons: no wifi in rooms. Need to be outside in the lobby area to get wifi. Rooms needs updating. Some rooms have no safe.
During our stay the room next door was being renovated. There were loud noises and dust. When we notified management we were promptly moved to another room.
Overall this is a good place to stay if you want a beachfront and safe car park. The staff are really good. I would recommend this hotel as it is good value for money. Will definitely use Villas Caroline again.

Honest opinion

The room is comparatively small. No drinking water bottles, tea/coffee amenities in the room as other similar hotels. Bed in not comfortable and sound emitted squeaky. Bath facility very cramped-up. Breakfast was good. Staff is courteous. Hassle free check in and check out. Beach area is clean and enjoyable.

Good for Breakfast only - BYO Croissant!

The best thing about Villas Carolina is its beach location and the room
We always makeour bookings 3-4 months in advance and inform the hotel that we DO NOT want ground floor room!
They were not able to take this into account .... after 2 days of staying in a narrow ground floor room we got the desired.
If this or similar room could be confirmed to us after booking, we would certainly book this hotel again Breakfst only for a few weeks in the future :-)
However, in relation to other hotels 3 and higher star rating, room and beach are the only motivating reasons.

Although people are quite nice and some even exceptionally striking service and guests well-cared.
The majority who shape the overall picture are \"Indian mentality corresponding\" slowly shuffling through, perception-blind waiters. Supervising staff playing on their cell phones, brainlessly immune to any improvement measures. Examples:
unacceptable loud disco music in the only open air bar. without any age group Guests ...

To book\"all incl\" only for to includ food, wine, bier drinks is not even worth it if one pay prices that exceed those of 5 star hotels. But escecially not because the kitchen creativity is cased in Indian defined barriers. Breakfast: A simple «unsweetened» croissant - missing, instead plenty of typical dripping sweet overweight-preserving pasterie..
The same with the evening desserts... and the food, majority wise typical Indian cardamom spiced dishes..

The biggest problem was no potable water
We had to buy our own water bottles and refill them from one point at reception.
In this day and age it is not difficult to sanitize all water going into a property.
When you shower, clean your teeth etc, you have to drink/rinse out of a bottle.
Their wifi was also limited.

A great hotel with good access to the village of Flic en Flac. Nearby to a supermarket and several reasonable restaurants. A wonderful beach for walking (or lazing) and a nice lagoon to swim in when it gets too hot (and observe the colourful tropical fish!)

Worth a visit, but don't expect top class.

The beach location was very good, with lovely white sand and a large lagoon before the sea. The room accommodation was clean and well looked after with daily cleaning, a good size clothing storage and a nice bathroom, although the water was only a nice temperature on the last two of six nights. The food was good quality, but the service wasn't always even after our sixth breakfast / evening meal. Evening entertainment was French speaking and therefore of little interest to anyone not understanding the language. Check in and out were satisfactory, although not warm and friendly. An agreeable cost, good beach location and worth a visit, but don't expect top quality.

was a nice hotel on the beach 25 years ago

well for the money £130 or more a night it was very dissapointing.It resembles one of the \"industrial\" type Tunisian hotels that cater for huge numbers of guests.........There was an attempt to \"entertain \" the guests all the time...but the music and sound system were deafening.....from our room nearly 100 meters away it was overpoweringly loud. At the bar it was deafening.It need not be so loud.
The food was execrable and I did not go near it. But this is par for Mauritius and the biggest grudge I have about the tourist industry ...the food is foul and overpriced. Mauritian home cooking is delicious...or was...but the insipid buffets and the poor quality seafood which is mostly imported frozen is sad. There is much better food in London.I acknowledge that the meat mostly has to be imported from South Africa and elsewhere...but how a tropical island cannot supply fresh fish is a disgrace............overfishing and the predations around the reef for decades have all but destroyed Mauritius's unique fish ...for the table and for the snorkel and sub aqua enthusiasts..

Not recommended, terrible food

I booked and paid for a superior room, was advised before I arrived that only standard room was available, which I was OK with. I advised Expedia that I required a refund, but never heard anything back.
The food at this hotel is disgusting, would not even feed it to my dogs. The rooms are OK, but every time I had a shower, I flooded the bathroom due to gaps in the wall/door. toilet stuck away in a tight corner and didn't flush properly.
Only good thing about this hotel is the location right on the beach, but then there are plenty of others with a similar situation, so I would book those instead. i would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

Good location and clean rooms

it is in a good location, closest to the beach and with reasonable walking distance to the restaurants. If you go there by bus, it's only less than 5 minutes walk. Walking to restaurants and supermarkets are like 10 minutes only. Facilities are good enough. I have been to the Anelia Resort just beside it, the facilities there are a bit better, but the location is less good, also in there you cannot enjoy the beach. So Caroline is still a good option, though it is more expensive than Anelia.

This is my 5th stay at this hotel, and the superior room that they had for me (317) was one located right above the entertainment area and where the band plays nightly. I asked to change rooms but the only one available was on the ground floor. Given the safety issues governing hotels in Mauritius, I refused the ground floor room. The reservation manager, offered her apologies stating that the hotel was full. On my first night, the hotel was catering to a wedding.We were unable to sleep until after midnight and the guests had finally stopped cheering.
What was disappointing was that during my stay, I could tell that the hotel was barely half full and even at breakfast only a third of the tables in the dining room were occupied. Also not many guests on the beach. The manager of the spa confirmed that the hotel was not very full that week end. I was happy that I had previously cancelled my second booking 22-24 July at that hotel and opted for another establishment.
I must thank Angel at reception who accepted a late check out in order to compensate for my first bad night.

Budget beach hotel

There are smarter hotels on flic en flac beach but this one has the biggest stretch of sand and apartments are well spaced out. Good value for money and the sea views are quite something.

Warning: this hotel uses over-booking

When we came to checkin, there was no room available even if we had our confirmed booking, because the hotel (or its booking agent) \"forgot\" to indicate no rooms was available at the time of our booking. We were moved to a remote hotel with less facilities as this one. Over-booking can happen, but the reason we had no room available was that the hotel was being renovated. Why keep bookings open in the case? So, be aware bad business practices are in place at this location.

Great hotel at reasonable price

We really enjoyed our stay at Villas Caroline. Our balcony room was nicely decorated, quiet and always thoroughly cleaned each morning. We had a beautiful view of the beach which was so relaxing!!! There is a great Sega performance each Saturday night and a very good band each evening except Wed. We had the room and breakfast package and breakfast was very substantial with excellent choices and the friendly cheerful chefs prepare at your request omelettes, fried eggs etc . We found the staff were lovely and happy to talk to us. The local area felt quite safe. There is a supermarket (Spar) approx. 4 minutes walk which sells everything you may need at reasonable and fair prices. The beach directly in front of Villas Caroline has some coral and is suitable for snorkelling, the swimming beach is really just next to this so not a problem for us and the pool was also very inviting. We would stay again at this small friendly hotel. We visited some other larger hotels but felt they lacked the intimacy and personal service of the Villas Caroline. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

Hotel with golden sand beach @ reasonable price

I have been several times to this hotel & has never been disappointed. Good value for money. As all rooms are sea facing & golden sand beach on one's door step, it is probably the best hotel at that price range in Mauritius.
However it is in need of some updating which would undoubtedly make it more pleasant.
Definitely go back again & again.

Great view and surroundings but a few things amiss

The people who work at Villas Caroline are very friendly and helpful. The furniture in the hotel though is a bit outdated. I didn't like the shower, the bathroom's too cramped, and the blinds can't be drawn properly. The bed was quite old though and it wasn't very comfortable. The best thing about this hotel is that you can get a room that opens right out to Flic en Flac beach, and you can access your room from the beach or the hotel. We didn't try the food, so we can't comment on that, but when we had drinks in their bar area and asked for snacks, they said they didn't have the option to have snacks, which I thought was rather bizarre for a bar.

Great location, but disappointing hotel!

Villa Caroline was not my first, nor second or third choice for Mauritius! Because of problems out of my control, I was basically stuck with limited choice. Villa Caroline is nicely located, the beach is good, but the hotel is getting old and in need of upgrade. The room are big with good view, but not very clean, hot water is sometimes missing, the shower/bath arrangement makes it that the whole bathroom floor is wet after used, plus several rooms have links which wet the room floor. during my three weeks stay, I moved 3 times. The first time was because of the noise; the room was too close to the bar/dancing area/dining room area, even though there was a very small crowd. The entertainment was so-so, mainly oriented to the French speaking guest! Food was buffet style only. I was on half-board which is somewhat discriminate by full board. No beverages, including water, are free for the evening meal. A glass of water cost 4 Euro! Waiters do not like to serve half board because they must do a lot of paper work, so service was slow! Full board just go and get served, or served themselves during meals! All and all disappointing.

Bonjour,
L’hôtel Villas Caroline est vieillissant. Mais ce qui m’a vraiment déçu dans cet hébergement est le niveau de propreté médiocre. À l’arrivée nous avons remarqué que le mur des toilettes de notre chambre était sale et moucheté de petites taches marrons, appétissant ! Le pommeaux de la douche était pleins de moisissures tout comme les joints de celle-ci. Portes et meubles avec peintures complètement écaillée, c’est défraîchi. Lavabo fendu puis recollé avec du joint qui déborde de partout. Que l’hôtel ne soit pas tout neuf ce n’est pas grave par contre les négligences sur l’entretien ce n’est pas pardonnable.
Nous avions pris la demi pension et le buffet du soir n’est vraiment pas terrible, nous avions de meilleur souvenir de la cantine à l’école (plat avec des morceaux pauvres de viande, riz et légumes bouillis, dessert en conserve, pains secs). Le midi nous avons commandé des burgers, 40 min d’attente pour avoir des frittes froides. Personnels du restau pas très vif pour nous servir quand on voulait des boissons et de l’eau. On sent bien que le management tire sur les marges. Ce ne serait pas admissible de proposer cela en France. Si vous pouvez dépenser quelques euros de plus allez ailleurs.
Par contre la jeune femme du centre esthétique est gentille, j’ai fais une manucure et pédicure au prix de la France rien à redire.
J’aurais voulu pouvoir poster des photos pour illustrer mon propos mais pas possible.

Dinner for 40,-€ is much overprized.

Die Unterkunft ist sauber und direkt am Strand, wir haben uns dort sehr sicher gefühlt, zu Fuß sind viele Restaurants und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten vorhanden, sowie eine Bus Station. freundliches Personal. Schöner sauberer Pool. Wir würden wieder kommen. Als Verbesserungsvorschlag: Toll wäre es wenn das Personal die Getränke am Tisch aufnimmt das steigert den Umsatz. Abraten würden wir von der hauseigenen inseltour viel zu teuer und sehr schlecht gemacht.

Les : Tous les appartements donnent sur la mer avec une terrasse individuelle. Chambre spacieuse avec climatisation. Ménage fait tous les jours. Personnel du restaurant très sympathique. Buffets biens garnis et bons. Fontaine à eau pour remplir sa bouteille. Une très grande plage avec transat et parasol. Prêt de serviettes de plage.
Les - : trop de gâteaux en desserts. Pas de wifi dans les chambres, uniquement au bar ou au restaurant. L'accueil du personnel de réception qui n'est pas arrangeant. Avion de nuit qui arrive à 6h30, suivi de 2h30 de route sous une pluie battante pour rejoindre l'hôtel. La chambre n'était pas encore prête mais le personnel aurait pu nous autoriser à déjeuner. Comme le all inclusive débutait à 14h00, nous n'avions pas droit à un repas. Attente dans l'hôtel car temps exécrable ce jour là. Heureusement, nous avons rencontré un couple qui nous offert un verre et qui se proposait de nous rapporter à manger.

Schöne Anlage vor allem Strand mit Sonnenliegen und Schirm. Standardzimmer sehr klein, kein Platz für 2 Koffer und Kleiderschrank steht im Bad. Frühstück ist insgesamt ausreichend, aber französisches Gebäck ist nicht original wie in anderen Hotels gewohnt. Personal teilweise überfordert, nicht wirklich hilfsbereit und unser Gefühl nicht gästeorientiert. Mehrere Hähne laufen in der Anlage herum, pünktlicher Weckruf zum Sonnenaufgang.

Prima ligging aan prachtig strand met voldoende bedjes, snorkel kajak faciliteiten. Kamers zijn wel wat verouderd hetgeen voor 150 euro per nacht teveel is. Wel met zeezicht en zitje en wel schoon airco roomservice etc.

Die Lage des Hotels ist unschlagbar. Ein wunderschöner Strand direkt vor der Tür. Und alles was man braucht (Restaurants, kleiner Supermarkt, Agentur,...) ist direkt um die Ecke.
Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Wir erhielten ein gesondertes Zimmer für die An- und Abreise um uns frisch zu machen da unsere Flugzeiten jeweils vor der entsprechenden CheckIn/Out-Zeit lagen.
Unser eigentliches Zimmer war für 3-Sterne ok, hätte aber etwas sauberer sein können.
Die Abend-Animation ist abends unüberhörbar und selbst wenn man nicht dran teilnimmt hat man aufgrund der Lautstärke etwas davon. Schade ist auch, dass es WIFI nur an den öffentlichen Punkten des Hotels gibt, nicht auf den Zimmern.

Perfekte, ruhige Lage direkt am Strand, besser geht´s nicht. Kleine und überschaubare Anlage. Zimmer mit allem ausgestattet, das man braucht, mehr aber nicht, sehr sauber und gepflegt, auch Garten und Strand. Neue Sonnenliegen unter Strohschirmen in ausreichender Anzahl und weit von einander entfernt, daher angenehme Privatsphäre am Strand.
Küche und Service entsprechen den drei Sternen, die wir aber bewusst ausgewählt haben. Personal nett und freundlich, leider aber auf AI-Publikum eingestellt und der Einfachkeit halber auf Selbstbedienung getrimmt. Als Nacht-Frühstücksgast erwartet man doch ein wenig mehr, wenn man für zusätzliche Speisen und Getränke bezahlt.
Stimmung allgemein gut, Hilfsbereitschaft und Freundlichkeit wie überall in Mauritius perfekt.

Séjour mitigé à Villas Caroline

L'emplacement de l’hôtel est exceptionnel. Grande plage de sable blanc, au centre de Flic en Flac.
L'hotel est très agréable avec une vue superbe, cocotiers et jardinets.
Les chambres sont réparties en petits modules d'un étage, toutes avec vue mer.
la notre était au RDC avec belle terrasse meublée d'un canapé et table basse.
Malgré cela, le rapport qualité-prix est mauvais :
Aménagement et décoration vieillissants, et de qualité minimum. salle de bains correcte, mais rien pour poser ou suspendre une serviette...
le linge est correct. Rideaux occultants coté terrasse mais porte vitrée à la salle de bains ce qui réveille le matin par le soleil à 6 h !
ATTENTION : L'établissement organise des mariages : nous y sommes restés 2 soirs : boum, 1 mariage chaque soir avec bien sur musique bien forte jusque très tard : donc il ne faut y aller pour se reposer !
2ème problème : le personnel de réception et de restaurant est antipathique, et les notions d'accueil et de convivialité sont absentes (pour le prix c'est quand même un comble !) Nous n'avons même pas eu un \"au revoir et bon voyage\"...
De plus : pas assez de transats autour de la piscine, il faut se débrouiller pour en récupérer et se les transporter.
Malgré l'emplacement de 1er choix, le mobilier du bar n'incite pas à la détente ni à la consommation (chaises plastique, tables cassées...)
En résumé, un fort potentiel pour cet hôtel qu'il faut entretenir, sinon rénover pour les chambres et très déçus du relationnel .

Strandnära och fint hotel.

Fint hotel med fantastiskt bra läge, solnedgången och havet väntade precis utanför dörren. Fin frukost och trevlig personal. Det som från vår sida upplevdes som ett litet minus var kvällsunderhållningen varje kväll som hördes till rummet trots att det var en bit bort. Ett litet minus till är att underhållningen genomfördes endast på franska. Annars mycket nöjda.

Hotel molto confortevole con quasi tutte le camere vista mare che danno direttamente su una spiaggia di sabbia bianchissima e un mare cristallino. Cibo più che buono e vario. Parcheggio privato qualora si avesse un'auto a noleggio. Personale gentile e disponibile

Hôtel très sympathique, excellent repas, le seul bémol pour la nuit dans les chambres c'est le bruit des chiens et des coqs au dehors et le bruit que fait le frigo à l'intérieur de la chambre.

Hübsches Hotel am Strand

wir waren vier Nächte im Hotel Villas Caroline, direkte Lage am Strand genial, Liegestühle und Schirme am Strand kostenlos. Direkt in der Anlage liegt eine sehr gute Tauchschule, das Hotel selbst ist leider etwas in die Jahre gekommen.

et godt hotel til prisen. maden var god. meget god beliggenhed ved en dejlig børne
venlig strand, med mulighed for at snorkle, som kunne lånes på hotellet.
vi havde bestilt værelse med udsigt, men kiggede direkte ind i en markise, konstant larm fra baren.
værelset lå ovenpå baren. vi flyttede til et andet værelse, som lå dejligt med udsigt til havet.
personalet i receptionen er meget lidt smilende og ikke kunde minded. personalet i restauranten er søde og venlige.

Stranden är lite bättre än den allmänna stranden lite söderut. Båtar ankrar precis utanför för att snorkling Undvik att bo nära restaurangen om ni störs av nattklubb. Den håller dock inte på så länge, ca 22:30

Heerlijk relaxen op Mauritius

Een heerlijke plek, direct aan het strand, met heerlijke kamers in huisjes met direct zicht op de palmbomen en strand en zee. Heerlijk ontwaken in kamers met airco. En met heerlijk overdekt balkon waar je tot laat ook kunt zitten, maar ook even kunt schuilen bij een harde bui, die meestal kort duurt en de temperatuur van rond de 28 graden niet veranderd. De maaltijden zijn in buffetvorm, maar zeker de avondmaaqltijd is afwisselend envan fijne kwaliteit. Wij hadden halfpension, zodat je overdag geen verplichting hebt, maar all-inclusive blijkt ook mogelijk. Wij waren de enige nederlanders daar tussen veel fransen, duitsers, scandinaviers. En voldoende bedden op het grootste strand van Mauritius. Er worden veel taxi's aangeboden, maar wij hadden een huurauto om op eigen tempo de diverse attracties te bezoeken. Wel een navigatiesysteem huren, want niet alles is even goed aangegeven.

Hotellet ligger fint vid stranden man kan gå mellan rum, pool o stranden. Hotellet har dock sett sina bästa dagar o behöver en uppfräschning, badrum var fint. Vi åt bara frukost som var helt ok, det fanns det mesta. Fanns flera restauranger i närheten o välja på, dock saknas de billiga matvagnarna, men tar man en promenad längs stranden finns de ca 20 min bort. En fantastisk solnedgång kunde njutas av på stranden.

Personnel très aimable, rien à reprocher. Sur une durée de 12 jours en demi-pension, la cuisine plutôt basic mais de bonne qualité, fut un peu monotone car les choix sont trop limités et répétitifs. L’hôtel est plutôt agréable dans l'ensemble situé sur la plage, mais je conseil vivement d'exiger une chambre au-de là du N°350 si vous voulez vous reposer le soir. Car l’hôtel pratique régulièrement des mariages et nous avons du \"subir\" 3 mariages durant notre séjour avec \"boum boum\" jusqu’à 1 heure du matin, impossible de dormir.
Il y a animation tous les soirs jusqu'à 23h avec une équipe sympa mais trop de bruit pour ceux qui veulent se reposer. Repas du nouvel an très décevant et sans intérêt. Cet un hôtel de moyenne gamme avec un rapport qualité/prix correct.

Le bonheur

Hôtel très propre bien situé avec un personnel souriant et gentil. Buffet bien garni et son groupe d'animation est au top. Sa plage est une des plus belles que nous ayons vu et la piscine est parfaite. N oublions pas son spa avec un personnel très professionnel. Que du bonheur à recommander vivement. Je pense d'ailleurs y retourner un jour.

Rigtigt godt hotel med en fantastisk beliggenhed med direkte adgang til stranden. På to tidlige fisketure fik jeg morgenmad før køkkenets egentlige åbningstid, så fin service.

Smukt og dejligt hotel med mange helt fantastiske medarbejdere. Visse mandlige ledende medarbejdere levede dog ikke op til vore forventninger. Transfer til hotel samt en bordreservation til et familietræf gik galt. Fantastisk beliggenhed og fantastisk vejr i forhold til resten af øen.

på villa carolina var det nærmest omvendt

Remerciements pour notre séjour

Très beau et bon séjour grâce à l'emplacement et surtout à l'accueil. Nous avons su apprécier la gentillesse, le sourire, la volonté de plaire de tout le personnel. Le dynamisme de l'équipe d'animation a été un vrai régal (soirée très animée, jeux,fous rires) où nous avons pu nous lâcher et redevenir des enfants. Un immense merci à eux pour ce bonheur. Concernant les repas, nous avons dégusté de très bonnes choses car les cuisiniers ont su allier recherche et originalité. Des améliorations demeurent, telles que: transats abîmés, offre all inclusive à améliorer dans le choix des boissons, Wifi aléatoire et la tv où la réception des chaînes était très moyenne. Nous conseillons cet hôtel à tous ceux qui veulent se détendre,s'amuser et bien manger. Un gros merci à tout le monde.
