I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this hotel in Belize. From the moment I arrived, the staff made me feel welcomed and taken care of—they were consistently attentive, kind, and genuinely invested in making sure I had a great experience.

The owner was just as amazing, which really shows in the overall atmosphere of the property. Everything felt intentional, peaceful, and well thought out. It’s the perfect place if you’re looking to truly relax, unwind, and disconnect.

The food was excellent across the board—every meal was flavorful and satisfying—and the drinks were just as good. Whether you’re dining or just enjoying the ambiance, the entire experience feels elevated but still comfortable.

A special thank you to David, the manager, who was incredibly attentive and made sure everything ran smoothly during my stay. That level of care really stood out.

I stayed in the spa room, which was a great choice. It added an extra layer of comfort and relaxation to the trip, and I would definitely recommend it.

Overall, I had a fantastic time and would absolutely return. If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway with amazing service, great food, and a relaxing vibe, this is the place!! I will definitely be back! Thanks, Playa de Sala for such an unforgettable experience!

We stayed for a week in early March and thoroughly enjoyed our time at the hotel. For our first trip to Belize, we wanted a place to relax and be near the water. Playa De Sala was exactly what we were looking for: someplace a bit out of the way and adults only.

The hotel is at the south end of Ambergris Caye, about a half hour from San Pedro by golf cart. It has its own bar and kitchen, which was great for times when we did not feel like traveling into town. The meals were delicious. But there are also some other nice places nearby, like Someplace South Cafe.

Everyone at the hotel was incredibly welcoming from the moment that we arrived, including the owner, Forest Sala, and all the staff, David, Melissa, Kevin, Ivan, Carlos, and others. We booked most of our excursions ourselves, but the team at Playa De Sala were always available to assist with any questions or requests and were very accommodating. As a female couple traveling, we felt very comfortable and well cared for.

The Stone Room was plenty of space for the two of us, especially since we spent most of our time outside, on the dock, on the balcony, or at the bar, when we were at the hotel. The hotel has kayaks and SUPs available for guests to use, and there is a lot of wildlife to enjoy seeing in the area, especially different varieties of birds. If you like to be off the beaten path but have a well-made cocktail close by, Playa De Sala is for you. We loved it there.

A comfortable and peaceful property on a surprisingly busy island. We enjoyed the beautiful views of a quiet cove, the use of a kayak, luxurious bedding, excellent shower, delicious breakfast and friendly staff. We arranged for a wonderful private snorkel trip with Captain Carlos, who picked us up in his boat at the dock at the hotel. The town center of San Pedro was very hectic and busy—not the Isla Bonita we had hoped for. So it was great to stay at the quiet south end. Fantastic bird sightings at lagoon near the property.

Serene setting, amazing staff, clean and comfortable room, great food. Everything was perfect during my stay. I was a little apprehensive with the location, given that there is not a lot going on near the property. BUT, I soon realized that 1) it is just a 20 minute golf cart ride into town, 2) I actually didn't want to leave the property. :) The staff really shine here, I felt very welcomed and safe.

The moment we stepped in, the staff made us feel like family. The manager toured us around, gave complementary drinks and massages, coordinated tours and taxi services and made us feel overly pampered. The owner was there too and she gave off such familial vibes with staff and guests that it felt more like staying at home than at a hotel. The room was beautiful and because they only have 5 units, we felt like the focus was on the guests and not profit. The food was excellent too, especially the ceviche. Overall, one of the best hotel Ive stayed at and would be coming back in a few months.

The resort was beautiful. The food was prepared beautifully and was delicious. The staff went above and beyond. We felt at home. We got food poisoning on day 4 (not from the resort) and the whole staff took care of us. From our pick up at the airport to transportation to the water taxi to the golf cart rental and extension….everything was taken care of. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Thank you Playe de sala. You made Belize magnificent. Highly recommend!

My recent stay at Playa de Sala was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The service was exceptional across the board.

Princess and Ange at the bar were incredible—friendly, attentive, and always ready with creative drink suggestions. I never had to wait for a drink, and their mixology ideas made every evening special.

The kitchen team was equally outstanding. Karna and Melissa prepared everything to perfection, from the mouthwatering surf and turf to the crispy shrimp tempura and the delicious breakfast served every morning. Every meal felt like it was crafted with care.

My room was spotless every day thanks to Ellia , who not only kept everything perfectly clean but also checked in to make sure I had everything I needed throughout my stay.

Playa de Sala is the ideal place for a relaxing, memorable vacation. I’m already looking forward to returning!

The hotel was fantastic if you are looking for secluded and peaceful. The chefs were amazing, the blackened catch of the day and watermelon salad were the best. If you are going to stay here you need to rent a golf cart, it’s about 25 minutes to town on a bumpy road. Staff was great, food was great, only downside was the distance from town which I didn’t realize would take so long.

This property was very well maintained, the staff was extremely accommodating and welcoming and helped a lot as first time visitors to Belize. Princess was especially helpful as we spent a lot of time at the Jammin Boat and she gave amazing recommendations for the trip, she made our week long stay feel like home. The food there was delicious, the drinks also super good, and the hotel had a beautiful beach and complimentary kayaks for us to use which was super fun. I appreciated their strong wifi and the easy AC system as it was pretty warm during our stay. Overall a 10/10, we will definitely be staying again!

The hotel was really nice in a secluded area, but it was a little far away from everything else. As nice as the room was it could’ve used a bigger TV. The whole staff was really nice and professional. The hotel food was a little overpriced in comparison to the size portions but overall, I definitely enjoyed my stay.

We loved staying at Playa De Sala the staff was amazing and we can’t wait to go back this year. The restaurant has some of the best food on the Island and the staff is extremely helpful and kind. Raffee In particular was a pleasure to work with as I enjoyed fishing in the mornings off of the kayaks provided at the resort, while kayaks are a bit dated he was more than accommodating to make sure the kayak was ready to go for my early morning fishing adventures in Tarpon bay before the wife awake from her well deserved rest. I always caught fish in the morning and enjoyed the physical excercise of paddling around the bay. Can’t wait to return to see our friends and enjoy the tranquility and exquisite food. It’s at the end of the island so a golf cart is paramount to getting around, plus it’s a hoot to visit other locations on the island with your own golf cart. Would highly recommend as we are no returning visitors San Pedro and the Playa De Sala resort.

The staff is sooooo amazing!! They are the best part of this stay!! The beach and water is not what you come to Belize for. The node if transportation on the island is golf carts and with that being said, the flooding and dirt roads to get there is awful!! We went through 2 golf carts. I wish we could move the staff and the hotel onto the pavement and beach side!

Our stay was good. Melissa was a great host even though that was not her job but she made us feel welcome and assisted us in what we needed. Jeremy and Sam were great and very attentive. The so called property manager I think his name was Brandon was ok need more training. Now the real kicker the owner was on site didn’t acknowledge herself as such talk to us and didn’t ask how our stay and we were really the only guest at the resort. It could be better.

The property was unique. The rooms are bigger than the website suggests and the showers are great. The decor is some rooms is rather dull with too much grey on top of all of the concrete. The little kitchenette and abundant towels were apprecaited. I twould have been nice to be provided with a small broom given all the sand that was inevitably tracked into the room. The common areas are limited, uncomfortable stools and swings at the breakfast and lunch bars and mostly outdoors which was uncomfortable given the wind, the bugs, and the cool weather while we were there.The upstairs rooftoop was great for dinner but also poorly lit, buggy, and windy. The menu choices were excellent and the cook would easily add or substitute ingredients which we appreciated. Dinner was great both nights we were there. There are a few good restaurants between the resort and the overpriced town of San Pedro. Black Orchid and Mahogony Bay are nice options. You pretty much have to rent a noisy golf cart to get anywhere from this property which is miles from the noisy, dangerous and dirty town of San Pedro (pedestrians beware; there are no sidewalks and the noise is infernal). The whole area of Isla Bonita is full of garbage and debris spoiling the landscape.The staff at the property were lovely, they did laundrey for us, made suggestions,etc. We thank them.

The property was in a very quiet area. The staff was beyond amazing and friendly. I would have preferred to be a little closer to town personally. The pool is very small and halfway under the shade. The website makes it look a lot bigger so it is deceiving. The continental breakfast that was included only consisted of a plate of scrambled eggs with a piece of toast and a few pieces of fruit along with one cup of tea or coffee. If you wanted more tea or coffee they charged you. The water isn’t swimmable. It is dark and murky. The room we were in (Wood Room) was tiny and the toilet wasn’t private. It was inside a wooden framed area that didn’t go all the way to the ceiling so you had no privacy at all. Melvin, Julie and Nathaniel were amazing and so helpful during our stay.

I'd like to start off by saying the food was delicious and the staff was friendly. However, the first night we were without tv because it didn't work. That was taken care of the next day. We wanted to use the infinity pool but were told it was broken. Then we wanted to use the kayaks but they didn't have life jackets. The reason we chose this hotel was the infinity pool and the free use of kayaks. Also, they started construction on an outside bar. We were awakened around 7 am to hammering, sawing and loud talking. Lastly, the pictures on the website are deceiving. This property didn't look as beautiful as we were expecting. We will definitely return to Belize because we did enjoy everything away from this hotel, but we will not stay here again.
