Great little Parisian hotel

My 14-year old son and I stayed here as we explored nearby areas and it was awesome! Great room at a great price. The rooms are smallish but this allowed us to explore Paris. While smallish the rooms were plenty big for my son and I and the place was clean. Thank you for clean :)

Pros: Quaint, convenient location to eateries and train.
Cons: Lift can only fit 1 person and 1 bag at a time.

The night desk staff member was friendly and helpful. The morning staff member was not. Fire alarm went off in the hotel and he accused me of smoking in the room. I told him I don't smoke and it might have been my hair straightener. He continued to argue and accuse me of lying. Eventually he threw up his hands and walked away and left me in tears. He was silent when we checked out, offering no further conversation or apology. Don't really think hotel staff should accuse you of lying and make you cry. I hope you don't treat all your guests like this.

Excellent 3 Star property in the arts et metiers area. Clean and convenient. Close to metro arts et metiers as well as a short walk to Pompidou museum and the marais.

Hotel de ville and Notre Dame are within 30 min walk as is the Louvre. Picasso museum in marais is 15-20

It's a small boutique hotel. Staff is nice. The room size is pretty small, but clean. It's strategically located near metro stops and access to shops. The lift is very small. It is well suited for folks who want to spend the day outside and jump come to hotel to sleep. There is nothing inside the hotel that will keep you occupied.

I loved this very cozy hotel! It’s a little off the beaten track from the noise and energy of the Marais, which made it a quiet and restful stay. Beware: Most of the employees do not speak English, so bring your phrase book with you!-:)

I love Paris

Best pillows ever! We didn’t want to get out of bed as it was like sleeping on a cloud. Great location to metro also walkable with good shoes and time to all attractions. Lots of cafes and small grocery stores to pick of bread, cheese and wine. We are happy we stayed at this location.

The hotel staff was amazing. They helped us with directions, gave information about the area, and are your main security for the hotel. The rooms were okay. I expected adjacent rooms meant connected with a door (especially considering it was posted to accommodate a family), but it really meant rooms that are next door to each other. That's it. It was a bit stressful considering we took our kids, but they were old enough to be in the room by themselves. Again, as a mom it completely made me nervous for the first two days, but after everything was fine.
The hotel is old fashioned and could use some updates, but it did the job. Rooms are small. Elevator can hold 2-3 people at a time.

The service here cannot be compared to any other hotel, hostel, or accommodation I have found in any country. These people become your family, they give you local recommendations only those who live here know about, and they go above and beyond to make sure you are getting the best time at the best places. I would live here if I had the chance. I recommend for anyone- a family, a solo traveler, age is not a condition to the hospitality and consistency provided here.

Nice and always friendly staff, trying to help and knows well the surrounding area! Clean and neat rooms with lots of charm and special fixtures to make feel welcome and pamper, elevator as a good option to the staircase! Really good ubication, 5 minutes from the subway station, really convenience walk from Hotel de Ville, The Marais is a excellent neighbour close by with lots of cafes, bars,bistros, restaurants and shopping! Excellent place to feel like a real parisnens; no better place to stay if you are looking for a real local flavour of the city!

Made an error, and the hotel made me pay

Good value in a nice area. Hotel is simple, clean, with nice lobby. Makes efficient use of small spaces. Bathroom was updated and tiny. The only negative was: within 10 minutes of reserving and prepaying via hotels.com, I realized that I had booked 1 day too many. I immediately called hotels.com who contacted the hotel. (I also contacted the hotel directly.) The hotel would not refund the un-needed day as per their policy. With all the power of hotels.com, why would you not promote refund policies that are more customer friendly?? I think your network must have some power over these small properties.

Lovely Hotel in a Great Area

This is a lovely hotel in a great area. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Quiet area in a central location. The people at reception were extremely helpful with calling the airport when our bag did not arrive. The rooms are small, but then again most rooms are in Paris. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms are a nice size. All in all a great place to stay.

Charming Marais Hotel

Austin's Arts et Metiers Hotel is exactly the type of hotel I look for when traveling in Europe--small, charming, clean, dedicated staff, and well-located in a vibrant, local neighborhood. Our room, a typical size for France, while not huge, was perfect--spotless and bright with an ample closet to store our possessions. It had a very nice bathroom with a large shower. We had no problems with noise and the air conditioning was a huge plus as there was a heat wave during our visit with daytime temperatures in the 90s! (35 C) Breakfast in the morning was delightful--a delicious croissant, a small pastry (one day it was pain au chocolat!), and a large portion of baguette, plus coffee/tea/chocolate milk, an assortment of cheeses, ham, yogurt, cereal...wow! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Highly recommended!

It is a lovely little hotel with nice and clean rooms. It is quiet and nice to sleep there. The wifi was fast. I would recommend it for solo travellers.
It's not the best choice for couples. The rooms are a bit small.

This boutique hotel is 3 star, clean, comfortable, conveniently located and cozy. The housekeeping staff keeps it impeccably clean, with fresh lines and towels. It's quiet, and with all the walking in Paris you will need the good restful recovery sleep you get while at this hotel. Befriend the concierges, they are helpful. Good brasserie restaurants and mouth watering bakeries nearby (I wish I had a chausson de pomme right now). There is an affordable breakfast nook in the hotel, cost only ten Euros, and they will provide room service. I am going back so do me a favor, please do not tell anyone about this boutique hotel treasure in Paris.

Nice hotel in quiet residential area close to cent

Very nice quiet residential area. You can walk around all night long. Very close to city center. Walking distance to the Louvre, Notre Damm, Centre George Pompidu. Place Republic, Opera.
Metro station 50 feet from door. Same distance to 3 restaurants and grocery store. So location is excellent.
In heart of city close to everything but very quiet and not touristic. So if you would like to feel like real Parisian I would recommend this little hotel.
Room kind of small but good enough for two persons. There is tea pot in room with 3 packs of tea and coffee her day. Plus sugar and creamer.
Room was clean and in good repair. Bed very comfortable. It very quiet during night time.
Staff very polite and helpful. Speaks good English.
There is breakfast in the hotel from 7 to 10 for additional $10 and room service. But we never use it.

Nice stay with brother in adjacent rooms.

We had a very nice stay at this hotel. We had reserved two adjoining single rooms and thought they would be joined by an internal but instead they were two single rooms next to each other on the same hallway, which was fine. The hotel was clean, located right next to Arts et Metier subway station, and is a few blocks from Temple Square, and has restaurants and bakeries etc. nearby. It's an easy walk to the Pompidou, although not right next to the Pompidou, and nice walk to the more central parts of the Marais. It's not a fancy hotel, but the rooms were clean, bathroom was nice, bed was very comfortable, and the front desk staff were very nice.

Excellent stay in a charming little hotel. Staff were very pleasant and helpful, dont hesitate to ask their advise/assistance. Room and bathroom very clean and neat, decent size for Paris. Free WiFi worked fine.

Location is very easy to reach from the CDG airport using metro and directions provided in advance were excellent. Short walk from metro,few mins. Safe area, i would highly recommend it for convenience and good value, and would stay here again.

Good Value and Great Location 3* Hotel

This was my first trip to Paris and I booked my complete holiday of 5 days to Paris through Expedia and I chose the hotel Austin’s Arts et Metiers because of the reviews that I read and because they offered good value for money.
The hotel isn’t huge I would call it compact, when we arrived we were 1 hour earlier than the official check in time but there was no problem our room was ready so we were able to check straight in which was good. We were met by a friendly member of staff who spoke some English as my French isn’t very good. The reception is manned 24 hrs a day.
Our room was on the 3rd floor number 32, the lift is small it only takes 3 people so that might not suit everyone. The room itself was quite small but they do tend to be in France so I am told. The room had everything that I was expecting, the bed was comfortable the air conditioner worked well, there wasn’t a lot of storage space but we didn’t have a lot of luggage so it didn’t bother us. There was a safe in the wardrobe which was free to use. The TV was a large screen and if I had one issue I would have preferred more English speaking channels to choose from. Both the bedroom and shower over looked the street with large windows that opened if you wanted them too.
The shower room was compact which was fine, the shower was brilliant very powerful in fact one of the best showers I have ever used, there was always hot water and lots of it. There is also a good hairdryer. The rooms were cleaned well every

Great little boutique hotel.

This is a typical European room, small and had to live out of a suitcase but this is the norm here. The staff here are what made the difference for us. They were so accommodating and helpful with directions and recommendations. The lady working in the breakfast room was always a delight to see each morning and the breakfast selection itself was more than adequate. This was a great little add on as you can then set out on your day without worry of finding a breakfast place each morning. Close to metro which we used all the time. AC worked well in the room although it was still set to 19 C as the low, we would have preferred it to be lower as a few warm days we found we couldn't get the room quite as cool as we wanted. Everything was great.

After reading a review from someone who had stayed at the 'Arts et Metiers Hotel and stating that the hotel was scrupulously clean and the staff very helpful, I booked and the Arts et Metiers Hotel was everything that the reviewer had written and more. The cleanliness of the hotel, the fastidious manner in which the hotel is run. Bed/bathroom linens all in top condition. There was a modern TV that works and easy to manage. Breakfast hot and/or buffet, yet again very good [can't speak about cooked breakfast as I'm a vegetarian but everyone appeared to be contended.] The upkeep of the hotel, eg state of walls in bedroom, shower area was as clean as the rest of the hotel. If I was looking for faults then that exercise would have been a waste of time.. After this write-up I need hardly add that I recommend this hotel to the single traveller, the family, in fact everyone. Enjoy your stay!

I don't know what to say about the condition of this hotel and I may expect too much since this is my 1st time in Paris. Anyway, my wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and we will not come back. The location is great but the hotel is too seedy and much worse than what you see in the pictures, the same can be said for the room. I can live with that but the A/C did not work and the room was too hot. I can open the window but the noise from the street is too loud. I was given room 22 and it s right at the hotel sign so the room absorb a great deal of heat whenever the sign is turned on. I had asked for a room change but was told that none was available. Do hotel management know this room with failed a/c and the hotel sign heat issue or any room with issues ? I suspect that they do and they reserve these for us the prepaid ones since the Hotels.com and the likewise pay the hotel less for our rooms than the regular patrons. Folk, if you travel with your better one, skip this hotel if you can afford more; or get better one in a further away location; or at least tell them giving you another room other than room 22.
Location is great, restaurants are all around, and metro station is right across the street
Hotel Management: 2 very flimsy plastic cups for tea or coffee ? Come on.. Inexpensive made in china mugs or paper cups are better

Great little hotel right at the Metro stop. Hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. Double room was on the smaller size. For two people it would have been a bit cramped. For a solo traveler it was great. Free wifi. It was the first hotel I've stayed at in a while where I had to leave and collect my key when going in and out. I would definitely stay again.

Charming hotel next to Metro stop Arts et Metier

Conveniently located hotel near friend's apartment rental in Le Marais. Several places to eat, boulangerie/patisserie, grocery stores close by as well. My friend who stayed at the hotel described her bed as the most comfortable of her trip. The room was on the fifth floor (accessible by elevator as well as stairs) and very quiet. Our only complaint was the posted price of 190 euros while we were charged 200 euros (possibly other taxes were added?).

Good deal in a great location

Austins Arts offers very nice accommodations for the price. The beds are comfortable, bathrooms nicely appointed, and the rooms had air conditioning for nights when it was noisy out on the street. The hotel is located in a lively part of Paris with lots of bars and cafes, and conveniently located within easy walking distance of several different Metro lines so you can get to any part of Paris. The staff are cheerful and helpful, and very capable of communicating in several languages including English. The rooms are average size by European standards, but you're in Paris! You shouldn't be staying in your room anyway!!! I loved my stay at this hotel, and would definitely stay there again.

Not perfect, but good value for the money

Our room was right by the front door at the basement level below the street, but it was very nice, super cute - with its own secured courtyard. We could hear the metro train go by and the front doorbell chiming, but otherwise it was a decent room. It was worth the money and nicer than the other hotel we stayed in, which was slightly more expensive. This hotel is a small boutique hotel and we had to leave the key when we went out. I would recommend it for the budget traveler.

Austin's Arts et Metiers was right next to the metro stop and walking distance to some great cafes and patisseries, as well as a Carrefour (grocery store). The staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast was exactly what you expect at a very French hotel. All in all, a wonderful stay with no complaints about cleanliness at all!

Comfortable Hotel that Doesn't Break the Bank

We were in Paris for three nights and wanted to be in the Marais area. Austin's Arts et Metiers was a perfect hotel for us. The room size is small, but not too small. The different people we interacted with at the front desk were very helpful and polite. It's nothing too fancy, but I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a nice, fairly quiet and clean hotel.

An excellent hotel in a quite location, just off the main roads. Plenty of cafes, restaurants and shops around. Centre Pompidou is just around the corner. The staff spoke perfect English, and were friendly. We went out for a meal on Sunday night with their recommendation and did not have complaints at all. The room was small but had everything we needed.

Very central location. Excellent courteous staff. Several Metro's nearby as well as some of the best restaurants and cafes. We stayed here for 8 days and walked everywhere from here. The room was slightly small but OK for two. The heat could not be controlled so the nights were very hot, we would sleep with the windows open. Our room overlooked an apartment building courtyard which took away any noise from traffic, but you had to draw the curtains for privacy. I would definitely come back and stay here.

Excellent location, comfortable simple hotel

The hotel is small, but comfortable, not cramped. It was clean, the staff friendly, and while a modest place, it was all I needed. The location is great and EXTREMELY easy to reach from the drop off by RoissyBus at Opera, then a single subway train to the Arts et Metiers stop, up from the subway and it's across the street from one of the two exits at that stop. The wonderful Industrial Arts museum is about 100 feet away. It's a 20-minute walk to Notre Dame, or a quick subway ride to the incomparable Museum of Comparative Anatomy. :). There's a Carrefour market a 2-minute walk away and the pub across the street is good. I'd absolutely stay there again.

A reliable comfy hotel in a great location

This was our second stay at the hotel this year. As before we were very happy with everything about the accommodation. WIFI is for us a must have and it is available thru out the hotel by asking for a code at reception. Tip. You need a separate code for each device.. Hotel staff very helpful and speak good English, very welcoming and a pleasure to deal with. We stayed during a cold period of weather and the room was lovely and warm. We will return for sure.. Highly recommend this hotel.

A Great Value in a Great Location

This is clean, comfortable, friendly hotel in a good central location. Nothing luxurious here, but the room was spacious (by European standards) and bright with ample storage and a decent bed. The bathroom had a lovely large shower. The staff was attentive and accommodating of my poor French.

A complementary petit dejeuner is served in the basement, but I never tried it. The elevator is minuscule (4 passengers max), so if you're traveling in a larger group that might be an annoyance.

Great price in a central location

Simple room but larger than most I've stayed in in Paris. Breakfast fare ranges from breads and pastries to yogurts and fruits. For the price (10 euros on 10/2014), it is a good, convenient deal to get ready for a day of walking and touring. Coffee and juice are also included. 24-hour reception is friendly and helpful for any local questions. An easy walk to the Marais and the Chatelet/Les Halles areas where your dining and entertainment options range from touristy to trendy.

Nice place in a great location

The neighbourhood is really fantastic - non-touristy, café on every corner, shops, old apartment blocks in every direction, yet metro stop is next door and you can walk to the Louvre easily. Seems safe at night with a lot of people around, but the hotel is quiet, except for the rumble of the metro (very noticeable even 3 floors up). Room was fairly small but comfortable, bathroom smaller but with a good shower. Staff were helpful, wifi was good.

Good place for price/location

We stayed 5 nights and enjoyed the place. Our room was small because we asked for twin beds. Double rooms are bigger, I don't know why !
A small hotel with parisian character which will satisfy anglo-saxons and other visitors. The métro is at your door and the area very alive. Recommended.

Very good.

Enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel is in a great place, right next to the Marais, The Pompidou Centre and Notre Dame and with metro outside. The hotel is clean, comfortable and very well run and in a safe area - no problem walking home late at night. Staff were helpful and friendly , all except the guy on reception the morning we left, who was the opposite, which was a real shame! as that last impression has coloured my feeling about the hotel a bit. But, I would still recommend it - he might be having a day off the night you stay!

Rooms are clean & come with blow dryer and minimal hygiene kit. Free Wi-Fi & friendly staff. Free steps from metro station and great Boulangerie. Non - touristy neighborhood gives you the real feel of Paris.

Paris in Easter week

Our visit was during a very busy time in Paris during the week following Easter. Lines to several sites were too long to contend with in some instances. Despite that, it's hard not to enjoy Paris.

Very disappointing

The hotel was away from all the major attractions. The twin bed were so small that if one was the turn u would sure to fall off the bed. Room was very hot and very tiny. The person on the front desk were not friendly at all. The only saving grace was the metro was just outside the hotel was we could commute to places. Would not recommend this place to anyone. For the price not worth it at all.

Dissapointing stay

The hotel itself provides what they say for the price they charge in Paris. So ok. But on arrival being given a single room when booked a paid for a double is not good. Then being told hard luck we have given away all the rooms. Unfortunately I would not stay there again and would find it very hard to recommend it.

Great Location and Hotel Staff

Austin's Arts et Métiers was perfect for our short trip in Paris. It is footsteps from the métro (Arts et Métiers) as well as two other metro stops nearby. Great boulangeries and restaurants nearby. The staff was helpful when necessary. Wifi worked well. The only thing that was uncomfortable was the carpeting in the room. Carpet never seems clean enough for me, so that was disappointing. Otherwise, I would return there!

great location, good price

It took me a couple of tries to find this hotel (because I had a mediocre map), but someone in a nearby hotel helped me out. It's right by a metro station that has exits on several different streets/corners. Once I figured out which exit to use, all was well.
The staff were friendly, the room was small and Parisian (no wasted space), the neighborhood had cafes galore. I slept well, was able to walk to the Pompidou in maybe 7 minutes and the Louvre in 20, or a quick jaunt on the metro. On my last day I stored my luggage for 12 hours after I checked out, no problem.

They did offer breakfast but I could not imagine it being worth the price--what were they serving that I couldn't get at a cafe for half the cost? I crossed the street and had a croissant instead.

The motion-sensor lights take some getting used to, but I appreciate the green factor! The lift is tiny and the stairs dark, so don't overpack (though that's true of any trip!).

They give you an individual wifi code (free), which will only work on one device. I made the mistake of using it on my phone first, and then I wasn't able to use it on my laptop. I probably could have asked for another, but I just dealt with it rather than going back downstairs and asking about it.

Fantastic Hotel would highly recommend

Not far from the Metro, quiet part of the city, a bit of a walk to the Eiffel Tower, the staff were really helpful and friendly and there was a nice café just across the road for meals.

Loved staying in the north Marais. Lots of night life but hotel is on a side street so it was perfectly quiet. Pleasant staff. Breakfast is good value for the money if you want a little more than a croissant and coffee (includes some cheeses, fruits, dry cereal, hard boiled eggs) but I only took it one day becasue I was off to the airport and it was convenient.

Tiny but convenient

The hotel has recently redecorated the rooms (nice fabric wallpaper), but there are other areas that could use an investment in upkeep. Namely the blankets on the beds which are a bit scruffy looking. Also some of the heavy curtains in the rooms have spots of wear (possibly from moths?) where the sun shines through in spots.

My biggest complaint is how compact the rooms are. I almost had to turn sideways to get past the large basin sink in the corridor-shaped bathroom in order to get to the toilet or shower. That said, this is something like my 10th time staying here. It is very conveniently located near Arts et Metiers metro and walking distance to Centre Pompidou.

Great location and neighborhood

Lovely little hotel, room with two single beds was spotless and adequate size. One block from Arts and Metier Metro entrance, supermarket with wine selection, bakery, three cafes. Arts and Metier Metro stop connected easily with rest of Metro lines. Easy to walk with a LOT of luggage to Republique stop to get to Gard du Nord for Eurostar. Staff was extremely helpful with corkscrews, chargers, directions. Couldn't have been better!

Value for money in Paris

Hotels in Paris can often be a disappointment, but here is a good one, in a very central location. Larger rooms than in most small Paris hotel, clean and nice, and very good overall service. Recommended
