They had hot chocolate with an assortment of toppings which I thought was cute. Valet was amazing and easy even though appearing not that much room to park. The tv in my room did not work, but I did not tell them or ask them to fix. Room was comfortable.

There is a church providing meals to the homeless across the street- I stayed to be able to walk to the convention center but the street had people on it at all hours of the day and night who were struggling with their mental health and I did not feel safe as a woman with my children walking on the street. Please be aware as I saw no other reviews that mentioned this. The hotel itself is fine and if you valet and get in your car and leave it’s ok.

As my daughter said, \"It's not like it was gross, it's just that everything was broken.\" When we checked in and then hauled our bags up to the 7th floor we learned the keys weren't programmed. Hauled it all back down again. Now they were programmed. We went into the room. Within a decent amount of time learned that the toilet water was shut off--the manager said possibly from the previous resident, but it does beg the question--how did they clean the toilet? So after checkin we have now contactedt he front desk twice within half an hour for issues. Then later in the evening, the tv was totally garbled when we turned it on--pixilated,etc. We unplugged it all, reset it, and it still didn't work properly. I called the front desk and the woman said the person who could fix it came on at 11pm. As it was 9:30~ish, that wasn't very helpful. Finally, the bathtub backed up which was just disgusting. I decided to not call the front desk because they were unhelpful the last 2 times I had called.

I asked to have a credit on my account for the inconveniences. Upon checkout, there were none.

Despite the convenience to PPAC, will not be going back.

When we opened our room there was another couple already checked into it. They had to find us another room that was comparable. The next day we were out and came back to our room and we couldn't get in because they had checked us out a day early. The room was nice except we couldn't regulate the heat because the thermostat had low battery warning and the air that did come on blew directly at our heads from the ceiling.

The only issue we had was that the TV connection was not working and it seemed to be a ongoing issue. We asked fo help twice and still an issue. The channels would not change seemed to be a long standing issue. We like to be able to see the news, watch sports and entertainment. Could not. Great old hotel in a perfect location. Wonderful staff. Fantastic breakfast included, with made to order omlets and local bakery products.

The staff was so friendly across the entire stay. Everyone was fantastic! The room was clean and it was a lovely historical hotel, but the staff really went above and beyond. The only downside was that there were people outside that were on some elicit substances and there was a fight involving dogs while I was there with my two young daughters. It did make me feel rather unsafe. That is more location based, nothing against the staff or the hotel.

I’ll start by saying the staff was very accommodating.
Unfortunately the rooms have declined in regards to the upkeep and condition. Stained furniture, carpets and upholstery. The wood veneer is chipped and broken. This hotel used to shimmer, but now it dims in comparison.
I hope this hotel finds its way forward.

The first issue, no fault of the hotel themselves, however a significant inconvenience was the fact that the neighboring room had two individuals rehearsing for a Christmas play in which one was a ghost through the entire night. Their commitment to the arts was admirable. The second issue came when we realized the vent in the bathroom ceiling was leaking into the toilet, thankfully, the room change was quick and painless... Then came the aromatherapy brought to you by budget marijuana! We couldn't figure out if someone walked through the entire hotel blowing pot smoke under the doors as they went by or if they had figured out if you smoke directly by the vents it'll seem as if it's not you smoking... So. A win for them and a massive headache for anyone that doesn't love such aromatherapy. Oh, there was also a mysterious bloodstain on the comforter in the first room we stayed in...

On the plus side, the breakfast in the restaurant was wonderful!

The double room had a lovely little living room, very elegantly appointed, and a separate room with two double beds. Very clean and comfortable. Old-fashioned elegance. The bathroom was spacious and had everything we needed. This hotel is in great proximity to lots of restaurants and shops. It is a two-minute walk from the Providence Performing Arts Center.

Unfortunately we only stayed one night but I found the Providence Hotel to be very quaint and comfortable. The property and the room were clean and the staff was super friendly. The free coffee and hot coco bars by the front desk was a great touch and the free breakfast had variety of options. When I read the reviews prior to our visit, I was concerned about the surrounding area but picked it due to the proximity to my son who I was visiting. The area itself was clean, walkable, and very pretty. It IS an urban area and the hotel is across from a church that serves the homeless, but who doesn’t appreciate that and at NO time did I feel unsafe!! I will be back to see my son and hope next time to stay for more than a night!!

Wonderful stay at Hotel Providence. We had a gorgeous suite and the bathroom was spacious. We were blocks away from the convention center which made travel there convenient. Hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. They need more staff for the restaurant but the staff they had were working hard to accommodate everyone. Breakfast was a nice treat. We will stay there next year.

The whole experience was not as advertised. Our room had a huge stain on the ceiling above the bed. It was disconcerting, as we wondered what had happened. There was a hair on the toilet seat, small dark blood stains on one of the sheets, and old/tired decor. There were paint chips in the room and the walls were paper thin.
We made it through the weekend, but will not be returning.

We picked this hotel because it was older and classic looking. The location is pretty close to the main downtown of Providence and the rate wasn't too bad during Brown University's parents weekend.
We heard, after our room was booked, that there are homeless people directly outside the hotel. When we arrived, we did see homeless people near the hotel sidewalk and across the street. We learned the church across the street had a soup kitchen and that's why there were homeless people there all the time. They were smoking, a bit loud and we actually saw one person smoking what looked like a crack pipe. We had to walk through them once and that wasn't fun. No one solicited us which was good.
Friday night, we learned the hard way that it's a pet friendly hotel because the people across the hallway went out late and left their dog in the house who kept barking at any sound. We called the front desk and the young man wasn't helpful. He said the manager wasn't on duty and gave us 2 different times when the manager would be back the next day. We asked if he could call the people to let them know about their dog and he said he didn't have their phone number. We went to speak with him directly and he wasn't any more helpful.
After we left, we called 6 more times and left 2 voicemails for the manager without a return call. We put a complaint into Visa for a 1 night room reimbursement which they'll do if they don't give us a refund. Waiting to see what happens. Don't go to this hotel!

Checking to in was very fast. Ms. Jade helped me at check-in. She was very welcoming, very professional and took just 10 min to complete my check-in. All staff at reception were wonderful, welcoming with great smile. The room was very quiet, clean and tidy at all time. I slept like a baby in my stay for 5 nights. The cleaning staff are very nice, kind, organized and you will not hear them when they are working and cleaning. Every day there will be fresh fruit/apple juice, delicious cookies, and coffee at the lobby, just serve yourself complementary. The hotel is surrounded with transit/bus stops, few steps from the place mall, convention center, and providence train station. There are many restaurants suit all tastes and there is vault market and grocery store few steps which serves hot international cuisine as well by weight. Providence is a marvelous city and people are very helpful and welcoming.

map ) & overall customer service is a zero. Important / detrimental meds were locked in the safe in my room for over 12 hours because it malfunctioned & they couldn’t help me until the AM. My ID was in the safe so the manager ( use that term loosely ) wouldn’t opened it until 4 COPS showed up. Mind you I’m a military contractor & over a military ID. Worst hotel in Providence.

The hotel was great! In a great location and many attractions nearby. Only negative side to the hotel was that the street was filled with homeless groups constantly. They don’t bother you, but it made my significant other very uncomfortable, and you had to basically had to walk in the middle of the road to avoid them on both sides. Not much the hotel can do about it, but it is right upon leaving the hotel.

The rooms are very clean, and have a vintage feel to them. I must state again that the location is great and you’re near so many great restaurants and bars if that’s what you’re into! I would stay there again for sure. If only they could fix the problem with the lingering folks outside. Staff is great and very accommodating as well.

Check-in person was surprisingly rude. Both to us and the people after us.

Hotel might be historic but interior is like a cheap economy hotel. Rug stains, water stains on ceiling, damaged furniture, cheap soap.

The “resort fee” is insulting in a hotel like this.

The exterior seems to be where homeless people gather. Maybe 20 at any given time.

Sign warns you that it will take 30 minutes to get your valet parked car. No other options.

Please put this in her record for review time and give her whatever she wants (raise, better days...whatever!). Dirty rooms. Out of 6 towels, 4 had stains and one had hair. The bathroom was dusty and had long black hair. The front desk staff upon check in was not welcoming, brother was the valet. There is a homeless encampment right outside of the hotel and at night they occupy both sides of the street. What was advertised as continental breakfast, turned out to be Otis S. muffins and Nature Valley granola bars. Very sad. Definitely not a 4-star hotel that Expedia advertised.

Stayed here in 2023, and they've definitely refreshed the rooms since then. Modern, comfy bed. Front desk and breakfast are informal. Fitness room should be next for an upgrade (small, no yoga mats, some machines broken). But the location and vibe are great.

There was an open bag of popcorn left behind the headboard from who knows how long ago. And there was no wifi in my room (720). Thankfully they comped the \"amenities fee.\" But before the receptionist even said hello at check in, she said \"you owe $46 for amenties.\"

I stayed here alone when I came to visit my son who lives in Providence. This place is beautiful! It is a renovated historical Boston hotel. The room I had felt like a comfortable, cozy, well appointed bedroom not a hotel room. Staff was always at the front desk no matter the hour and was accommodating. Bottled water, soda, morning snacks and evening cookies are included with the resort fee which I did not expect. It is located in a very quiet area. There were a few homeless people down the street to the left of the hotel, but if you are driving or walking to the right they are not a concern. I felt very safe in the hotel. Would stay here again.
