The location of the Lucien Hanoi Lakeside was good as it was close to the lake but also close to many shops and eating spots.
Even more important, the staff at the Lucien Hanoi Lakeside were terrific. Grace the sales manager, and Anna at the front desk were both very helpful and gracious. The daily breakfast was very good, offering such a good variety of options with lots of vegetarian options was great. And their staff, especially Hueng, was terrific. We had a really nice stay at the hotel and would return again.

A very lovely hotel with a large rooftop jacuzzi, bar, and comfortable seating to take in a sunset and watch the city come alive with lights. The hotel’s restaurant affords diners with a glassed-in city view as well. The varied menu is well thought out and the complementary breakfast is varied and fresh. It would be an understatement to say the hotel personnel go above and beyond to make travellers happy. (The staff gathering for a group send off as we left was truly touching.) The hotel is a rare find anywhere and offers a refined and relaxing venue to seek refuge from Hanoi’s lively street life. Highly, highly recommended.

This was our first hotel we stayed in during our Vietnam trip. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and nice - they felt like family. We loved the location - close to Hoan Kiem Lake and on a street where we felt like locals. Loved the chairs and table on the porch where you could sit and watch the street life (we are 6 in our family so great for when we waited for someone to get ready). The small rooftop has a great view of the lake. Just a heads up about Vietnam - you never flush toilet paper - and you pay for your hotel room upon arrival - not when you check out.
If you want a real Hanoi experience with an incredible friendly hotel staff- pick this hotel. The rooms vary - we had a smaller room with not a street view - made it a bit dark but at the same time quiet.

The staff at the hotel are the best I have ever come across. They are truly proud of their hotel and do everything they can to ensure you have the best experience possible - and all without the expectation of a tip. Truly exceptional. The location is right in the heart of old town so most everything is walkable. Grace organized tickets for us to the New Year’s Eve celebration on the rooftop, and we had an incredible view of the fireworks. We are highly recommend the hotel.

This is a wonderful place to stay while in Hanoi. It’s located at the heart of the Old Quarter, with a rooftop bar overlooking the lake, and a jacuzzi. The best think about this place is their amazing service. Anna was so helpful to me suggesting cafes to visit and where to find the best Pho. All of the people who work at this hotel are so kind. This place is so central. It's in the heart of everything and close to many attractions from walking distance. The hotel is clean and the staff is truly what made my stay even more special. Anna is incredibly helpful and was the resident 'concierge'. She made my Mum and my stay hard to say goodbye but if I ever returned to Hanoi, I will make sure to book Lucien (previously San Grand). Julia who is a Trainee is also amazing. The Bell boys are courteous and friendly. Always greeting with a smile.

The room is a lot smaller than advertised. Can’t barely do personal things in front of the mirror/sink without the door keeps jamming at your back. There is no sitting area as advertised either.
The bathtub is nice however there is no shower head on the wall. Basically you have to stand inside the bathtub, one hand holding the shower head and one hand doing your scrubbing - not comfortable at all.

The San Grand Hotel is located in a perfect location in the Old Quarter, close to dining, shopping, bars and tons of street food! The hotel is very welcoming and a quiet oasis after the busy streets of Hanoi. The staff are extremely helpful and a special shout-out to Ruby and her team for being so kind and helpful with everything from booking our HaLong Bay trip, airport taxi, visas and actually walking to show us the nearest atm machine:) The hotel has a fabulous buffet breakfast along with an afternoon tea all included in your room rate. The rooftop bar is a great place to unwind during happy hour to take in the beautiful view over the lake. We had a balcony room, which offered a great view while taking in the sights and sounds of the city. It was a beautiful room, but didn’t have a shower, only a bathtub. All other room types had a shower though:) We would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again! Thanks everyone!!

I had a disagreement with a cab driver and Mike solved it quickly and scolded the driver for try to take advantage of me. I was so grateful. Honestly an amazing place to stay. All the staff make you feel welcome from the time we arrived until they put us in the car to leave for the airport. About the room. Ok it is not huge but had a very comfortable bed and the shower pressure was awesome. Breakfast was really nice and had a lovely view of the lake. About the location. Close to the lake, beer lane and more food options than you could ever need. I was really impressed with this place and highly recommend.

Nice hotel with a cute restaurant and rooftop bar (Marvel comic book theme). The staff was great and service was wonderful. Only issue was the bathroom…terrible shower. The shower in the terrace suite room was designed so poorly. Not only does the water go everywhere, it’s a huge hazard getting in and out of it. I had no issues, but would not recommend to people over 55 or people with mobility issues. Further, no one thought to build a wall attachment for the shower attachment or small shelf for body wash or shampoo…so you’re bending over constantly. I liked the hotel but likely won’t stay again due to the shower.

We absolutely loved our stay at San Grand Hotel for many reasons: great hospitality, location, and quality room. Of these three reasons, the great customer service must be mentioned. Notably, Lily, from the rooftop breakfast bar, was extremely delightful to interact with. She was kind and patient with taking our breakfast orders, but most importantly she went out of her way to recommend restaurants for lunch/dinner and offered suggestions on where to buy specialty products (e.g., Vietnamese coffee). She even taught my wife how to make egg coffee, and offered us egg and coconut coffee during our stay. Lily made an effort to make our time in Hanoi seamless and smooth and we were honestly so grateful. She definitely made the stay more memorable. We were interested in purchasing a few items in Hanoi (suitcases, souvenirs, etc.) but were very hesitant given the fear of being upcharged and getting the \"tourist\" price. Lily made sure we were not scammed and even went above and beyond to order things online to the San Grand and then to our subsequent hotel in Hoi An to ensure we were not overpaying. She was excellent! We will certainly return when we're back in Hanoi!

The San Grand Hotel exceeded our expectations. We had 3 nights in Hanoi before flying back home. I’d give the staff more stars if I could. We especially had a wonderful experience with the dining manager, Lily. She was nice enough to share some history about the area and recommend some really wonderful restaurants. We had an early checkout and Lily prepared “to go” breakfast packages for us too. Since we left the area on a weeknight evening the street was closed to cars. Although it was just a one-night layover before we headed home..our family stay was very comfortable. Ruby at front desk provided my family and I with a nice size family suite for our stay. The hotel is also located in a prime location so getting last min shopping and finding a restaurant was no problem at all.
