Room was decent, although the bathroom had a bit of an unpleasant smell I think coming from the drain. Also there was very inconsistent hot water and often took a while to get hot water coming to take a shower. Other than this the staff was friendly and location was great and close various metro stations.

Excellent location, 0.8 miles walk from Gare Du Nord station and only another 0.8 miles walk to Seine river. Very friendly staff, clean & comfortable hotel, gave us an amazing anniversary.. Only downside was breakfast seemed expensive so we didn’t go for that option on this occasion. Overall a great hotel option for a Paris city break, Would definitely recommend.

Six stars to the staff if I could. The hotel is cozy. The room is clean. The bed is comfortable. The staff were so kind and caring. They were so accommodating and treated me with kindness when I arrived early. I enjoyed the location as it is about a 15-30 minute walk to the main shopping areas. It is not too walkable to the popular tourist areas if it is too cold.

Excellent experience at Hôtel Bonne Nouvelle. Well-situated in the city, close to metro lines 4, 8, and 9. Lively area with restaurants and bars open late (but not so close that the noise is disruptive when you’re back in your hotel room). I stayed in the single room which was clean and compact. The bathroom got humid, even after keeping the window open, but otherwise it was perfect.

Our 1st floor standard twin room was simple but perfect for our mother and daughter 3 night stay. It was spotlessly clean and quiet with comfortable beds, its own temperature control and an opening window. The bathroom was very small but manageable. The position of the hotel was convenient for the Metro to the Eiffel Tower, and for walking to the rest of the famous Paris sights and shopping areas.

At first, the hotel seemed charming and had the appeal of a small boutique property. However, our experience quickly went downhill. The building is quite old, the rooms are small, and the entire hotel had a musty, damp smell that made the stay uncomfortable.

The continental breakfast was very limited, and it was disappointing that the room did not include basic amenities such as a safe or a small refrigerator.

We also had a major issue with the front desk staff. The young woman at the desk argued with us about our room type — we had booked a premium room (which is supposed to be larger), but she insisted on placing us in a smaller one while still charging the higher rate. After several frustrating calls with Expedia, it was finally confirmed that we were correct. Only then did she contact her manager and admit the mistake.

The entire situation was handled poorly and left us feeling unwelcome. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel and will not stay here again. Very disappointing experience.

No internet and bathroom up in a loft

I didn’t realize when booking that my bathroom would be a ladders climb up! They should have been much more clear as not everyone could handle that climb, I could but didn’t enjoy doing it in the middle of the night or when arriving back and really needing it. Also, NO internet service in that room. It worked elsewhere in the hotel and the staff pretended to care and check on it but didn’t do anything about it not working. So not a place to spend a week in. Even for a day I would have gone elsewhere. I left three stars because the location was fairly convenient.

The hotel is an older property and the room and bath were very small. Not so small that we couldn't make due, but small. Also the air conditioner controls would not allow a temp below 21° C and a couple nights were a bit warm in the room. The elevator barely fits two people, but at least they had one. Right around the corner, a few blocks away, is a delightful area with dining and shopping for pastries, chocolates, ect. Fairly oae to the Chellet de Halles train underground. Uber would pick us in from the hotel when we needed a ride. Our drivers canceled 6 times. We ended up having the front desk call for a taxi. Price wasn't terrible but better research may have found us a larger room in a more modern hotel.

Con: looks shabby & very run down; disappointingly small “superior double” room, especially for the price; tiny lift that could barely hold 1 person with a suitcase; no restaurant or bar (we knew this), but immediate area was run down & wasn’t comfortable to walk out in the evening; coffee machine in room, but had to buy pods after the first 2 each day; no bottled water; no in-room safe; water for shower / basin often cold or luke warm as tank too limited for number of guests

The Bonne Nouvelle is a typical modest (but well-kept and appealing) Parisian hotel, located on a quiet block just a few blocks from a boulevard with bustling cafes and a Metro stop. The rooms are, unavoidably small (this is Paris, after all!) but designed to make the most of the available space. There is a desk, chair, rack to hang clothes on, and tall wide windows. Flat screen TV. The bathroom has a rain shower, which is a pleasant surprise, given the limited size of the stall. The staff is exceedingly cordial and helpful. This is the 6th Paris hotel we’ve stayed in during the last few years and I would put it at #2 on that list. The only complaint to make: the WiFi signal was spotty, especially late at night. That may have been just an issue with the location of our room.

Terribly run down place, upon arrival the room stank of mould, sewage and bleach that was probably trying to cover the other faux smells.
Roof windows vent full of mould, just gross.
Some hair in the bedding, replacement brought by staff who gave us a few for us to change with the comment “not sure which is clean”.
Property looks nothing like in the pictures, it’s super run down, not even the entrance door to the lobby opens properly and gets stuck half way.
The smell of the room got mostly resolved by keeping the windows open 24/7 (which led to my pregnant partner catching cold, but hey, better than inhaling bleach and mould for multiple days).
We were offered a diff room at the 2nd floor I believe, yet other reviews complain of hellish noise in the building, so we stayed in the attic. The building is indeed very loud and the lift makes very loud bang as it passes through 3rd floor I believe.
This place is more like run down youth hostel than a nice hotel as it SEEMS from the heavily Photoshopped photos.

Great Hotel! The location is fantastic, really close to Metro stations, lots of lovely restaurants bars and shops. Staff were very helpful. Offered a free Wattsapp service for assistance while we were in paris, which we used. Room was nice, actually quite large for Paris!
There was a bad leak in reception on check out day, but staff were on top of it.
Quite noisy at night, but this is to be expected with a city hotel

The room was very small, their WiFi didn't work at all and the bathroom shower door handle was broken, the waste bin in the bathroom was also broken. The amenities were not replaced everyday such as the shower caps, cotton buds, etc. They had a body hair gel but no conditioner. Overall, its okay for one night but not for more than that.

Horrible service!

Horrible service!
Toilet flush button stopped working, and we were told they \"couldn't\" get someone to fix it until the next day.
We had to stick our hand through a hole in the wall to flush for 36 hours before it was fixed.
Also, the aircon is remotely controlled by them so you'll never get the temperature you select on the controller. It goes up several degrees shortly after you set it.

Well located small and simple hotel for a short Parisian break. We walked from Gard du Nord and access to the Metro is 2 mins away.
Tucked away in a side street away from most of the noise of the main road; however, it is next to a church that rings its bell very loudly each morning at 8am!
Room was small but had all the necessary amenities.
For a simple hotel is was very expensive, but is is Paris…

The owners of the hotel (a Mother and her two sons) were so warm and friendly. They were very helpful with directions, metro stops, how to get to the train station, etc. The room was small but had everything we needed. We were there for 2 weeks and it felt like a little home away from home. It was very close to a long pedestrian street with multiple cafe's, bakeries, cheese and meat shops, and ATM machines. It was not far from the Seine River and the Louvre. I would highly recommend this little hotel! Gail and Tom Frare

The staff were very friendly, but when we arrived they told us there was an issue with the room so put us in a different hotel for the first night - it was a nicer hotel and very nearby, but a bit of a nuisance to have to change hotels. They offered us free breakfast for the inconvenience, and were very apologetic, so that was nice.
The room was very small (not unusual for Paris) with a very small bathroom, which had a bit of a mouldy smell and the door was on backwards so the lock was outside. There was a bit of noise from outside late at night and in the mornings, as well as very loud church bells next door at 8am (so don't expect a late sleep in!). Overall it was clean and in an area close to lots of restaurants so was ok.

The elevator and corridors are tiny. I'm very small in stature and hardly fit in the elevator. My room was tiny, and my bathroom smelled like mildew. I had 2 towels only, which looked like they had not been cleaned. The shower was dirty and I could see mildew growing in the cracks. There was a tile missing under the shower, which made me fear that mice might come into my room. The bed was tiny and hard, and I woke up every morning with a back ache. Also, I was woken up at 2 am my first night there due to very loud neighbors - the walls are very thin, so I was able to hear everything. Breakfast is actually not included (they have it but you have to pay), and same with a shuttle bus - so read the fine print. The only benefit is the location near a metro and Montorgeuil pedestrian street, as well as the free wifi. Overall, not a very pleasant stay.

I was warmly welcomed at the HBN. Zach was very friendly and helpful, offering whatever assistance I might need. The hotel is very clean and comfortable and on a VERY quiet street. So near to so many things in Paris, in particular some renowned and wonderful eating areas. English was no problem with the staff, including housekeeping. I would highly recommend staying here. I certainly will the next time I'm in Paris.

The room is very small and the bathroom is super tight. Overall the place is clean. When we checked in and came into our room, 15 minutes later a housekeeper opened our door by mistake. Also, they make you leave your key at the front desk then hand it back to you without even checking identity. It seems not secure.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It is a good location - very close to the metro station & also within walking distance of a lot of nice restaurants/ cafes/ bars etc.
The staff were all very friendly, reception was available 24/7.
The hotel is modern & has a nice cosy feel to it.
We had a double room which was small but plenty spacious enough for 2 of us for a weekend - we were not in Paris to be in the room much anyway.
The room & bathroom was clean & tidy. The bathroom had a hairdryer & sachets of shower gel/ shampoo. The room has a kettle & tea/coffee sachets (no milk in our room). Our room had a fan which was handy as it was very warm in Paris.
We did not opt to have breakfast at the hotel as we were meeting others & went out but saw people having it and it looked nice.
The location was perfect for us & the hotel was good value so we would stay again.

Stayed four nights on business trip. Great location 250 meters to Metro. Really nice staff. Small but clean and new-enough rooms. Only complaint was breakfast that had very limited options but for 8 Euro probably shouldn't complain! :-)

Hard to find (Google Maps kept spinning us around trying to locate) but serviceable room for a one night layover.Room is very small so you would stay here knowing you would be out and about during the day and early evening and would return to sleep only. Hotel made efficient use of the small space but as family of 3 we were bumping into each other.Price made it worth the crampness but if staying more than a few days you might want to look for more space. Staff was very nice and friendly.Oh yeah, the lift (elevator) holds one person one bag so be very patient or use the stairs.

The rooms beds were very uncomfortable. I paid way too much for what I got. I left my badpgs here and went to sleep at the Odyssey hotel. Very nice. Don't order a taxi here. It seemed like a scam! Cost 30 euro for the same trip back that cost 15. Big disappointment. Sooo noisy at night.

Perfectly placed pad for short stay in Paris

Great welcome. Small room but were in Paris to site see so no probs
Shower great and all that
Beware noises off if you leave your internal atrium window open, sounds magnified and echo! Enough said!

Small, but great location

Great staff, awesome location if you don't mind walking a ways to get to the metro stop that takes you to CDG airport. Very small bathroom, but has what you need.

Nice hotel in calm Paris neighborhood.

Nice and calm neighborhood. Friendly and accommodating staff. Rooms small approximately 150 SF.
One person with bag fits in tiny elevator to 4th floor. Walk to floors 5 and 6. Typical european breakfast. Close to clock tower and church bells that ring on the hour during the day. Priced fairly. Pack light.

Fantastic location, nice staff, modern room

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel Bonne Nouvelle! The location is right near many bustling restaurants and shops, and within walking distance to the Pompidou Centre, the Louvre and several Metro stops. The staff were available 24/7 and always very courteous, helpful and polite. Thanks!

Friendly and helpful staff, but limited space

The hotel was located close to some great cafes / restaurants and shops (the street itself didn't have the best atmosphere but it was a short walk to the main street and metro station). The staff were excellent - very friendly and helpful with pointing out what there was to see around the area and around Paris.

We had a triple-share room, which was quite cramped for three people and the bathroom was tiny.. I guess that is what is to be expected in Paris for the very reasonable price we paid though.

Great little place for Paris, location and price!

The staff was friendly and respectful! They were kind when I stumbled over my French and were cordial upon every approach. Rooms were quite small, but that doesn't bother myself and husband as we us hotel rooms to sleep-in. It was the bare minimum of what you needed. If you are looking to book your dream Paris vacation, then I would definitely look else where as I do not think this would fulfill your dream. UNLESS you are on a budget or weekend traveling. You can tell it had just finished undergoing renovation. The only thing (which this is common in Europe and older buildings), the walls were fairly thin, but it wasn't horrible.
