The price was reasonable. The room was on the street side so if your window was open there was lots of noise from bars nearby.the room was small the bed was huge.
The water pressure was great and the water was both cool and hot. Nice updated bathroom the staff was very helpful. My room was cleaned every day

Wonderful little gem of a hotel!

Great gem right at the intersection of the 2nd and 9th arrondissement. Wonderful staff, great sized room, A/C worked great, had a view of the neighbourhood - really nothing more we could ask for. In terms of access, the hotel is located just around the corner from the Grand Boulevards Metro station - so within 5 minutes you can get anywhere you want to go!

I would happily spend another 12 days here is the future

We enjoyed our stay. There are lots of good restaurants and bars near by. The bed was big and comfortable, and we had no issues with noise at night.

The majority of the staff was pleasant, however, there was a woman at the front desk who was extremely rude and unhelpful. It was very offputting.

Breakfast was nothing special. You can get much better at a cafe for 10 euro a person. It also wasn't very clear if breakfast was or was not included in the rate.

Staff was helpful and friendly, spa area was awesome, rooms are small but very sufficient, A/C was good- but we needed to ask them to make sure it didn’t shut off in the night on us. We stayed in July so we did get a little warm over night, but it was easily fixed. The parking area is about a 10 minute walk away and very expensive. There are tons of restaurants in walking distance that are delicious, and very close to a metro. We were able to see Paris easily from this location.

Typical Parisian 3-star hotel. Small reception and smallish rooms. But there is everything you need with a good bathroom and shower. The bed was not the best, but comfortable. Loads of well located plug sockets and decent wifi. The one thing that let it down was no water in the room. This is basic stuff for me and a little disappointing.

Other than the free croissant upon check in the service was abysmal. For three days we were met with bad attitudes and slow grumpy answers. Our room was tiny (yes it’s Europe) and the 2 beds put together wouldn’t stay together. Air conditioning didn’t work.

On the plus side, it’s well located- walking distance from Grands Boulevards, gare du nord, many nice dining options in the neighborhood. Bed was comfortable. However, interior is tired, old carpets and smell of old in the corridors and the room (unless windows open), air conditioning doesn’t work, service is not friendly.

Nice little hotel in a great location

We arrived a couple hours prior to check in. The receptionist was welcoming and confirmed she could check us in early, but needed about an hour. Conveniently, there is a nice little cafe/bar right across the street from the hotel lobby.

We checked in about an hour early. The room is small or maybe the bed is too big for the room. I did not measure, but there seems to be about 2 to 3 feet of space all around the bed. There are night stands on each side with outlets & light switches. There is a desk at the foot of the bed with an electric kettle & small closets on each side. The TV is mounted above the desk. The bed was very comfortable and to our liking.

We had some issues with the WiFi staying connected for the first 2 days, but after that everything worked as expected. Only other issues we had were both related to the air circulation in the room. We followed the directions provided and set the fan and temp to our desired settings, between 18-20 degrees Celsius (64-68F), but our room would get very warm at night and several evenings we woke up in a sweat. There is a vent in the shower, but no fan. The bathroom would steam up quickly and we had to open the window to release the humidity in the room. We noticed small spots of mold around the shower.

There is a small bar area & vending machine in the lobby. They offer a buffet style breakfast for €15/person. We did not try as there were so many other options close by, but it's nice to have.

We were pleased with our stay.

Be careful with Late Checkout !

When we arrived I was told that our booking had been cancelled. I’ve used Hotels.com several times and it definitely was not cancelled. According to the receptionist I was ‘lucky’ that there was one available room, I suspect that room was the one I booked in the first place, but I could have been left with no where to stay.

The room is very very small but had a nice bathroom. Three different cleaners knocked on the door some offering coffee or something, despite having a do not disturb sign on.

The day before check out I was told by a receptionist I could get late check out (5pm) we had a very late flight so we stayed in bed until 11am and then I was told that we could not have late check out and that we had to leave as soon as possible. We had no time to get ready and get a shower and they tried to charge us to use a shower in the spa even though it was their mistake that they told us we could have late check out. Receptionist kept talking over me and didn’t deal with the situation very good and it really ruined the experience but it was more the fault of the receptionist who told us we could have late check out.

Hotel Breail Opera is a perfect stay not too far away walking from food in the third arondisment which is nice when it was as cold as it was in January! If the metros were running it would have also been perfect to get everywhere in the city as well. Hotel room is a bit small for a family but for two I thought it was perfect since you shouldn’t be in the room much anyway with everything Paris has to offer!
Others complain that it is to small but honestly for our offseason price it was perfect.

The only single complaint we had was the shower door situation or lack there of one... that needs to be solved. Unless you shower perfectly you will make a puddle outside of the shower as the door is only half a door for some reason. If you can look past this flaw the room is nice size with a good view if you’re on the top floor as we were. As well as the bathroom is decently sized.

Very noisey hotel, struggled to sleep the first night as the room above seemed to constantly walking around and floors must be really poor quality sound proofing.
Second night seemed better the load occupants above must have left the hotel.
Shower had to be held by hand as the holder above head height was missing which was an inconvenience and very annoying.

Nice hotel for a great value

Great hotel for the price and location. My wife and I just spent 7 nights at the HBO and would definitely stay there again. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. The facility (including room and public areas) is very clean and has easy access to the Grands Boulevards Metro Station (less than a 5-minute walk) and lots of shopping and great dining options. It is close to most of Paris' tourist spots (we walked to most of them, but the Metro is right there like I said) so the location was perfect for us. We got a room on the 6th floor (7th floor for US standards) and the views every morning were pretty nice!

My only complaint would be that the bathroom floor got all wet every time we took a shower (like most hotels these days, the bathroom has this open-door shower concept.) Also, the bathroom door did not fit properly on the door frame, so my wife had a bit of a hard time closing the door (really no big deal)

The location is great! Next to grands boulvards' theaters and shops. But the street is quite noisy and bedrooms are not well sound-isolated, so it was difficult to sleep in the evenings with the noise from the bar next door, and in the mornings with the cleaning staff in the corridors.

Not a great experience.

The location was decent. There were several roads and sidewalks which made it more difficult to get to the entrance. Staff was not friendly and it wasn’t until we checked out that one smiled at us. For an unknown reason we were given what looked like a handicapped accessible room. There was not a step in shower so the floor stayed wet all day. The hair dryer was across the room and not near a mirror. Room mirror was partially broken. We did not want housekeeping to come during our stay and they did anyway which upset us as we left our personal belongings out and they were moved around. The view to the street was nice but a bit loudness if you’re a light sleeper. The only good thing was the king bed was comfortable and air con worked.

A very good hotel

Our room #28 faces the back of the building and hides behind two doors, which makes us feel strange at first, but it turns out to be an excellent setup since it makes the room extremely quiet at night. A very large comfortable bed takes up most of the room which comes with everything one needs including a safe and many USB and electrical outlets. The bathroom with a shower exceeds the Parisian standard in size. The front desk staff is knowledgeable, pleasant and helpful. The unsecured wifi is the only draw back, but we would stay here again.

The room itself was very clean and good sized for my needs. The ceilings were a little low for my son who is 6'1''. He had to duck every time he went in and out of the room/bathroom. The front desk staff was extremely helpful with all of my questions about the metro, restaurants to eat at, helping me print off soccer tickets and anything else I may have needed. The location is fantastic!!!! 5 minute walk to the metro, 15 minute walk to the L'ouvre, tons of restaurants/cafes and bars around the area. I could not have been more pleased. If I ever come back to Paris I will certainly stay at HBO again.

All in all the hotel is in a decent location and the rooms are adequate. Our room came with an empty minibar which was fantastic for storing cold beers and soft drinks.

The biggest downfall is the level of noise from the local cafe/bar opposite. The rooms could really do with some sound proofing. Though our room was fitted with double glazing, it was as if we had no windows at all. We stayed 3 nights and were woken several times, during the early hours of the morning, each night. Most often by noise from the bar, cars, workmen and most frequently, drunk people having loud conversations and on a couple of occasions being obnoxiously loud while talking to what appeared to be either reception staff of the hotel, or other people staying at the hotel. This was all while staying on the 4th floor.

If you're looking for somewhere quiet in order to actually sleep through the night, steer clear. If on the other hand, like my partner, you could sleep through the Blitz (though, the noise in this case was too much, even for her) or you don't plan on doing much sleeping, then this place might be right up your street.

We stayed for a night at the Hotel Bresil Opera. It was a great little hotel. Our room was small but clean, with a huge bed and a nice bathroom. Walk in shower which I love. Nice decoration as well and a view out over the courtyard. The reception staff were abrupt but efficient. We stayed here as it is one of the few hotels to have a fridge in the room. Great area - 9th arrondisment. We walked to Notre Dame in the morning - about 20 minutes away. 6 minutes by Uber to the Gare du Nord. Would definitely stay again while in Paris. Wifi was erratic.

The room was very clean, tidy, and modern. As we approached the hotel from the outside, it was a little discouraging to see that the glass front at the entrance had been all smashed and boarded up, so it didn’t look very appealing. This however could have been a recent accident and was not a reflection of the hotel inside. It was smart and tidy inside. We didn’t use the spa or the bar during our stay but it was nice to know the amenities were available.

The hotel is located in a location that is super close to the metro and also walking distance to many attractions. I walked from Gare du Nord which was about 15 minutes.

I guess the hotel has good and not-so-good rooms. I was travelling with my mother and stayed a total of 3 nights. The first room we were given was very very small (even by Paris standards) to the extent that it was uncomfortable.

I requested a room change for the second and third nights and given the hotel was quiet (being January) they 'upgraded' the room to one that was much better and more comfortable.

The hotel was clean, good wifi and staff were friendly.

For the price I think it was very good and would consider staying here again.

Hotel was in a fabulous location, my partner and I walked to the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Montmatre and the Arc de Triomphe with no problems.
The room was quite small but the bed was big and comfortable, which for us was much more important than room size.
Breakfast is quite expensive at 15 euros each per day, but we found it better value to eat a big breakfast at the hotel and skip lunch, rather than finding breakfast and lunch in the city.
Plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby.
Staff were lovely. I would definitely stay here again.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel and we found our stay quite enjoyable.
Our room was a little small, but I think that is fairly common in Paris.
The best thing about the hotel has to be the location. It is surrounded by great restaurants and bars and has a nice lively atmosphere. We did a lot of walking to the various sites, however the hotel is situated less than a 5 minute walk to the nearest metro station.
The folks at the front desk could be a little nicer, I felt like I was an annoyance when asking questions.
Overall we had a great stay and I would recommend it.

Hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. Got upgraded to a bigger room upon our arrival which was a lovely gesture. Bedroom was spotless and very comfortable. We heard very little noise from the outside busy streets at night which was nice. Location of hotel couldn’t have been better!! Not a far stroll from plenty sightseeing locations but also have the option to take a metro. Used hotel spa one morning which was lovely and relaxing, again very clean. Would highly recommend this hotel for couples :)

Terrible service. We could hear everything upstairs!!!!! People were fighting and very loud above us!! Customer service would not do anything. No towels one day. Had to ask for wash clothes. Fire alarm with no explanation but smelled something burning in kitchen. Very rude people at front desk. Were not willing to accommodate at all! Worst experience ever in a hotel!

We were only here one night as we could not add a night to our prior hotel. This hotel was much larger in size to our previous room, try literally double the size. Big bathroom, very spacious compared to other Paris hotels. They had a decent continental breakfast and they keep crossiants at the front desk which is nice! We did not get to enjoy any of the spa amenities (sauna, steam room, etc.) but I’m sure that would have been nice! Walking distance to a Main Street with shopping, the metro and food. Not a ton of tourist stuff in this area. We actually had to take the metro to where we stayed before to buy our souvenirs because we save it for the last night but there was none near it. Overall, good hotel if you don’t want to be in a main tourist area but still have quick access to food. The metro is so close too so you can get anywhere.

Looked good on paper, but rather disappointing

The major reason for us to book the hotel was because of its lush-looking spa facilities. At the time of booking, both the hotel's website and the Expedia website suggested that it would be included in the price - it wasn't! And it was pretty expensive too. Discussions with staff and a complaint email to management led to nowhere. Extremely disappointing.

The room was on the top floor and incredibly small, hardly any space between beds and walls and a tiny bathroom too. Very clearly a loft conversion. However, the furnishings seemed comparatively new.

The selection at the breakfast buffet was extremely limited (albeit the food itself was of decent quality). Maybe understandable, as there was almost no one having breakfast.

The biggest plus was its location, relatively central and within walking distance to the metro. But overall, we were rather disappointed, as the hotel looked better on paper than in reality.

Overall I had a wonderful stay at the HBO. The staff was helpful and friendly and the location was great for getting around the city. My only issue was with the toilet seat being broken my entire stay, but I just had to be careful not to get up too fast or I could have fallen.

Worst sleep ever. While the hotel is central and overall cleanish, the walls are paper thin. I could hear everything in the rooms next to me, when they spoke, went to the bathroom, etc. to make it worse, some drunken guests came back in the middle of the night and had a party that kept me up for an hour around 3 am. It took two calls to reception before they did anything. I will not be back.

The photos don’t match up to the rooms. There’s no light on the first floor corridor so be careful; the only light that’ll help you see if the one from the lift when it goes up to the floor. The ceiling in the room is very low. My other half is 6ft1 and he was about an inch or two away from the ceiling.
The bathroom could be better, such as having shampoo’s and conditioners available and not just a pump of a liquid without a label..
The bed is fabulous however, very big so no fighting over who’s taking up the most room.

It was just alright.

The hotel was definatley in a great location for Paris, centeral to everything you want to do. The breakfast was awful, def skip that. They failed to clean our room one night, but other than that it was fine if you are staying with kids. Definatley an older hotel, no ammenities at all.

Great stay

This hotel was brilliant, the only thing was that I found the bed a little uncomfortable but I tend to be fussy with beds. Lots of bars and shops nearby and not too far from Montmartre area. About an hours walk from Eiffel Tower, 15 minute walk from Louvre but a metro station about 2 mins away on foot and Gare du Nord train station was less than 10 minutes in taxi. Lovely, modern hotel with helpful staff. Very clean and bright , I would definitely recommend and would stay again

The hotel is in a great location, but the rooms need updating(Carpet, beds, pillows, etc.) and the halls outside rooms smell musty and seem dirty. The service was excellent and the lobby is really nice. Wifi was spotty.

A Fabulous Gem!

We are so fortunate to have found this gem of a hotel! The rooms were clean and air conditioned, which we needed because we were there during some very hot weather in July. The location of the hotel was so convenient. There is a metro station quite close by, and plenty of restaurants in the area. We did not have to travel to eat well. They also have a sauna and hammam inside, which my wife enjoyed. We felt like this was a good value for the price paid. From now on, this will be our hotel of choice in Paris.

Good value and location

This place is located in the historic area of Paris, walking distance to Gare du Nord and accessible to many Metro stations and other tourist attractions. The place is also convenient as it is accessible to many different stores such as café and supermarket nearby The room was clean and tidy. The service was just okay. Although guests next doors were bit noisy, I was satisfied with my stay at this place.

Okay for the price

Hotel generally ok. Rooms a bit on the small size, but that is normal in this location. The room walls were very thin. We could hear the next door when they were using water/toilet and a little bit too much at night! There was not a single English tv channel out of 70+ channels. This is just unacceptable. Really, Paris is a major international tourist city, it needs to accept English is the international language!

Excellent location close to restaurants and metro

Very comfortable king bed. Excellent air condition. The room is not as small as many Paris hotel rooms.
The bathroom is very modern but we had a broken showet it was usable and towel rack was missing we told them twice but nothing was fixed over the 2 days that we stayed there.

Great location but..

Location is great. However, the man at the front desk was rude and not as friendly. The room was sub par and small. It was very uncomfortable and hardly any room for luggage.The bathroom was not as clean and there were stains on the towels. We called the front desk and the man told us we have to go to the lobby to get towels. Not recommending.

Very nice hotel in central district

very good hotel, very central. near the subway (Grands Boulevards/ Bonne Nouvelle). You can go to the Louvre or the Opera Garnier in no time from there.
The room was very small but comfortable and very quiet, i slept very well.

I recommend for tourists and business travelers too.

Perfect Location for a Contemporary Hotel

The hotel has a clean and modern feel with friendly staff. The room was cosy and had all the necessary facilities. Hotel is in an excellent location and takes less than an hour to get there from the airport via train. The area itself was buzzing with a great atmosphere, wide selection of bars, restaurants and cafés with a couple of supermarkets close by too. Its about a 15-20min walk to the Louvre with everything else reachable by foot or Metro. Overall this hotel was everything we expected.

The location of this hotel is GREAT! The hotel itself not so much. We stayed on the third floor. Once you step off the elevator/lift you can instantly smell the carpets. It’s a damp/mildew smell. The inside of the room was not as bad of a smell. The walls and carpets are filthy. The bed is as hard as a rock. The place is a bit dated. We placed a do not disturb sign on the outside of the door but the cleaning service constantly continued to come in unannounced or after one knock. Waking us up or while we were getting ready to head out for the day. Extremely inappropriate!! The price is good but not worth it at all. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful during our stay. This rating does not pertain to them.

It's amazing, great location, fantastic service, very clean, the staff speaks English fluently. Etiane & Omar are very helpful with providing directions to many places. Many great restaurants around the corners, highly recommend SuMiBi Kaz, Le Brebant. One big bonus: there is an outlet in my bathroom to recharge my phone & camera, a rarity in Europe.

Great location, good size room for Paris.

Pleasant surprise to see the size of room compared to others in Paris. Central location close to transport and all major attractions. Tea & Coffee making facilities and small fridge supplied. Bed was way too firm but all else was good.

Great Location!

We stayed for 3 nights at this nice centrally located small hotel. It is close to many shops and restaurants. Our room was nice and clean and the bed comfortable to sleep. It is a quiet area so you do not here the noise from the streets of Paris. We noticed many business travels staying here too. Tres bon!
