Extremely small rooms, elevator broke down, bartender did not know how to make drinks, attitude was bad on female night clerk, Room phone did not work, location was far from tourist locations, which made it difficult due to Paris traffic. I wouldn’t advise people to stay closer to the Eiffel Tower. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

The staff is super friendly and helpful
Really well located near lots of restaurants
The elevator was only working from the 1st floor, it was a bit inconvenient with our big suitcases but the staff helped us (although they shouldn’t have to carry clients suitcases!)
The room was clean and a decent size but a bit dark.
The A/C was making a loud noise waking us up many times in the night.
Overall we enjoyed our stay and we are satisfied as we got a good deal.

Great hotel

Great location, close to Metro. Friendly staff. Breakfast ok, a bit pricey and limited space which makes it feels very cramped and hectic. Temperature in the hotel was absolutely boiling; very uncomfortable. Thankfully my room has a tiny balcony, which meant I could sleep with the door open (at the end of November!!) Turning the heating off didn’t affect things at all.

The hotel is very conveniently situated. Check-in was quick and efficient. Cleanliness in the room was excellent and the cleaning staff were very friendly. The breakfast selection was excellent - cooked food was hot and a wide range of cheese, ham etc. Staff in the breakfast room varied - the man was very pleasant and smiling but the lady assistant was, quite frankly, very irritating. She was not friendly and welcoming and seemed to do nothing but hover round us giving us instructions....don't sit here, sit there....don't turn the toaster up...don't turn the water up to get it to boiling point for the eggs...and here continual moving between the tables was quite frankly annoying. I think she spoilt the start to our day a bit. All other staff were friendly and helpful. I would have like a little more light in the room - with the curtains closed, it was a little too dark.

A very pleasant experience

A lovely room, with balcony overlooking the Folies Bergère. We were surprised at the size of the room as, unusually for Paris, the room and bathroom were spacious as well as modern. It was a comfortable room with tea and coffee making facilities. I found the bed a bit on the firm side but my only real quibble was that the mattress was covered by a plastic sheet. I know that it is for hygiene reasons but it makes for an uncomfortable and hot experience. For me, it makes sleeping difficult as I overheat. However, it is difficult to find a hotel where plastic under sheets are not the norm and if the room is warm it is possible to sleep on top of the duvet.
Breakfast, which is included in the cost, was lovely, plenty of choice with full size croissants, freshly squeezed orange juice and cooked breakfast option, far superior to breakfasts in other hotels nearby where we have paid extra for a poor breakfast. The breakfast room is large and, despite the fact that each morning there were coach parties in the hotel, we were always able to find a table.
Staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful no matter how busy they were, from reception staff to the staff in the breakfast room who kept tables cleared and food restocked while dealing with some quite demanding guests.
We have stayed in several hotels in the area and this is definitely the best we have experienced. We will happily return there on our next visit to Paris.

We stayed for 3 nights and it was not a bad place to explore Paris. The rooms were ok, very small and probably what you would expect. Unfortunately, though they only had one staff member for check-in and check-out so the wait could be quite long. Also even though we requested it our membership number was not added to our booking. Additionally, it has now been 3 weeks and we still haven't received our deposit back. As we are overseas we don't have access to call them, but I would have figured at most it should take no more than 2 weeks to come back. Please return our money, it is not ideal having your money locked for that long while on holidays!

The most disappointing thing for me was the size of the room. There was no place to keep my luggage. I had to adjust the bed to make room for it. Even the bathroom was too compact. There wasn't much amenities-wise as well; the hairdryer was an outdated one, there were no power points in the bathroom and they gave plastic cups for coffees. Also on the last day, there was water clogging in the bathroom. The lift was small in size and probably can take a maximum of 2 people. The only good thing about the hotel is the location - public transportation was easily accessible and had many good restaurants nearby.

I had stayed in this hotel for three nights. I was happy for the location and cleanses for the room. However I got stolen the money at 1,000 EUR from my wallet because I mistakenly forgot to bring my wallet from the room during I took breakfast in the hotel. I realized this accident after I left the hotel. I know it's impossible to get back money but I will recommend you to check who is the cleaner for the room 601 on 30th and 31st March. I think you can also check a surveillance camera.

Location is not very central but there is still lots of shops, food and dessert places a minute walk away from the hotel. It was clean and pleasant looking but I did expect a little more from a 4 star hotel. The toilet was tiny and there was a problem with the flush, the shower also leaked but all in all it is a good hotel. The worst part has to be the drunk who lived outside the hotel, constantly shouting to himself and weting himself in the street really was a put off as you have to walk past him every time you leave the hotel and the stench of urine is unbearable.

Pleasant hotel in Opera area with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Check in delayed due to problem with machine creating door keys but offered drinks. Iron & ironing board available from front desk. Bedrooms larger than expected for central Paris. Bathroom (with a bath) was a good size. Also had a small balcony.

This was a father / son trip ( 78 and 53) and the firs time for my son in Paris. As I had been there many times, I had a few things to show my son in the relatively short time we were there. The most important of which was the jazz club, Le Caveau de la Huchette and that was for each night we were there. It was so enjoyable that we are considering another tip next year.

Narrow ans the showe head in a bad position and the glass enclosure could of been a little wider. Floor would be wet after showering. We wished they're were more English speaking channels on the TV. No way is this a 4 star. No amenities in room, 1 free water per stay (Even if your there for a week). Room so small when I asked for a iron ... it came with no board.
. As there wouldn't actually be space to open a board. The attention to detail is not hear from cleaners ... kept forgetting to replenish coffee etc.... breakfast was ordinary with some very atrophy staff. Eggs ran out 45 mins before service end and they refused to refill. Walls are paper thin and you can hear everything in the hall and rooms around you.

Saying all that ... it is really clean and location is perfect. Loads of restaurants and cafes so don't pay for the overpriced breakfast in hotel.

If this is a 4 star then thresholds in France must be very low .... 3 star at best so don't expect more

Mercure Faubourg Montmartre Review

I liked this hotel and especially it's breakfasts! Some interesting ideas on commonly used things in the rooms; a quaint room with good decor/color; a refrigerator and (again) good restaurant. There are good food stores and shopping within walking distance. Near the Cadet train station, so if you want to stay toward the middle of Paris, this would be a good budget hotel that's decent.

Amazing location, very central with the major landmarks easily reachable by walking (although we are city folk so used to walking) and several Metros nearby. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful, and the several that we met all spoke excellent English (helpful when your own French is terrible!) The room itself was perfect size for a couple on a 3 night trip, with water and tea bags etc replenished every day. Also brilliant was how you could open the window properly!! So many hotels have them set to barely open so you end up with a stuffy room, but we opened the window wide for fresh air ever evening and morning. The shower had great pressure, and we had no problems with having hot water when we wanted it. We are already thinking of our next trip to Paris and would definitely return here!

Good but with no quality sleep

Rooms are comfortable and clean but with very poor qality towels. The rooms have no acoustic isolation therefore you can hear all the noise coming from the corridors and the street, including early morning such as junkies and the trash truck.

This hotel is a short walk to major metro stations, tons of restaurants around it and cafes for late night snacking or if you need something quick. Very moderate neighbourhood but has a cozy rustic feel to it as well. The hotel is small (tiny elevator). Very basic but really nice breakfast, it will keep you full and energized for the day. Reception staff are very nice and professional. Rooms are very small but that's the norm in Paris. The air conditioning system was not working when we got there (because it was too cold?) we left the window slightly cracked that let a nice breeze in. The beds are comfortable but they could use newer pillows (slightly too flat). Washroom is very clean and modern. Hard to move around the room but serves the purpose for a short stay.

I have stayed in Mercure chain many times, and never had bad experience before. The hotel I stayed in this time had a problem with heating system and the room was quite cold, however I did not get an electric radiator until the second night (at this point I already got a cold). The staff also seemed to try to make savings by not replacing free tea or milk in the room...

Hotel near Gare Du Nord

As i recall that most train stations don't have escalator nor elevator, i avoided to take the train to go to my hotel as it's a pain to transfer trains with luggage. This hotel is approx 10~15 min walking distance away from the Nord so it was within my selection choices.

Staff is very friendly and helpful on providing information in English. Provide early check in prior to 2pm as room was ready and I arrived early.

Pleasant stay for Wifys Birthday weekend!

Everything was good, with a good location with everything close by via metro, staff were very helpful in our needs. The only downside was the room doors of neighbours were inconsideratly shutting them loud, which woke us up quite regularly, soft closing doors would be nice!

what a shame

Located within easy walk of much of the centre of Paris this hotel promised to be ideal. With a 4* rating one would expect certain key things which were sadly lacking. the bar area is tiny with no evening light snacks. there was no comfortable communal space to sit apart from the tiny bar. The room was very small with the mirror inconveniently located to the side of the wardrobe blocked by the tiny dressing table. the room was cold and the air conditioning had little effect. the shower room was small. No toiletries were given apart from a wall mounted shower gel and the power of the shower was average. the bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. Nice teas were provided. Oh this hotel could do so so much better to deserve a 4* rating. such a shame

Fantastic stay. The room isn't massive but the bed is comfortable and the bathroom is lovely. Really good temperature and water pressure in the shower - quite luxurious. The staff are lovely and always ready to help. The location is fantastic as it is surrounded by restaurants and there is a metro station less than 5 minutes walk away. Just be careful not to try and check into the Mercure next door!

We booked a weekend away in Paris and we always use Mercure. The service was very good and the breakfast exceptional on choice. This hotel is in an area of so much activity, restaurants are plentiful and so much choice. We recommend 'Chartists' such a vibrant place with Parisian charm and grandeur.
The hotel rooms are good and a nice size with everything you need. Good access to the metro at either Grande Boulevard or Richellieu Drouoet Line 8. Very easy to get to Invalides and the river from which you can walk to many of the sites

Good location but poor sevices

The room was very small for two persons with two luggages. If you have a longer vacation than 3 days, you don't have any space to unpack the luggage.
Moreover, the bathroom was as clean as we expected for a 4* hotel. Our bath tub had a lot of yellow spots (and it was not the model of the bath tub) and the toiletries were very poor.
We had the coffee/tea facilities in the room, but they were replenished the coffee/sugar/condensed milk very rare. In the first day we had all of them, in the second one they didn't replace anything that was consumed, in the first day we had coffee without sugar or milk, in the fourth day we had coffee and sugar and in the last day we had again all of them.
At the check-in we had an unpleasant surprise to receive the room keys/cards of a room that was already occupied by another couple, therefore we did not have the confort that the same mistake might happen again in our room, too. Somebody might have received our room keys/cards and if bad intended, might have stollen things from our room. This error is not acceptable for a 4* hotel.
The location of the hotel is very good as it is central and we were able to reach the attraction points easily.
Even if the location of the hotel is good, the price is to high for the services they offered. It is not a 4* hotel and it is not recommended for stays longer than 3 days.

Friendly nice hotel close to shopping and sites

We don't travel internationally so not sure how it lines up with frequent travelers expectations, but we loved this hotel - clean attractive lobby, English speaking front desk, everyone very nice and pleasant. We got very lucky - top floor room with no neighboring rooms/noise, no street noise and great views, so not sure about 'normal' rooms. The bathroom was modern, there was a mini-fridge we could use (not loaded with overpriced stuff), beds were comfortable, carpet was clean. Not much lighting was a little strange but not a big deal. Definitely nothing fancy but everything nice and clean and well maintained. Tiny 2 person elevator but no problems. Very convenient location for restaurants, and only a 10-15 minute walk to Galleries Lafayette. The main boulevard the hotel is off of has a lot of American Tourist chain restaurants (starbucks, chipotle, etc) but packed with small restaurants and very close to Metro stops. Our first time in Paris but we thought we lucked out - great value as far as we could tell. Easy check-in and out.

Nice hotel, good location. Would return.

hotel is a good find for Paris, where I've found standards/quality of rooms to be lower than average. paid for breakfast which was as expected, continental breakfast, serve yourself. Great location, just off a bustling street with restaurants and bars but quiet enough to get a good nights sleep. Room is very small, but we were hardly in it so was fine. Overall, a good stay and I would return.

We stayed in room 202. The walls are extremely thin. We could hear people coming in early hours of the morning taking a shower. It was as though the shower and toilet were in our room. The toilet and shower is very loud. We could hear other guests conversations and their telly. I would not recommend staying in the hotel as the walls are too thin, especially if you want to get a good nights rest.

Noisy

Reading the reviews before booking it said to book a quiet room. What we did realise was the noise was from inside the hotel not the street! It doesn't bode well when the walls are so paper thin you can hear the people next door in the bathroom... it felt like they were in the room!
The air con didn't make a difference to the heat which I passed out with one evening!
Hotel is well located but wouldn't recommend staying here!

As for someone quite familiar with Paris, I can say this was a great hotel. Great location, and I did not have any issues. The hotel was as expected. Not over the top, the lower end of luxury. For the price and location, I would definitely recommend.

Good Hotel - hot and noisy though.

The hotel overall was clean and the staff where helpful. However during our stay the room was very hot and the AC did not work. It was too noisy to sleep with the window open and the proximity to the stair case and lift meant it was noisy. The thin walls did not help.
Location was ok, short walk to lots of restaurants and a couple of metro stations.

The staff were so incredibly helpful and the breakfast was pretty good too, and vegetarian friendly. My room had a mini balcony window that overlooked other Parisian rooftops. It was a dream!! The room itself was clean and I really appreciated the large bathroom space and luxurious shower. The location is central to the theater district as well; great for nightlife, good restaurants, and culture.

Beautiful hotel, A* service

Had a lovely stay at the hotel, staff members were extremely helpful. Our room was cleaned everyday during our stay, have no complaints whatsoever, close links to the metro/bus to get to most tourist attractions. The wifi was super!
