Our stay was seamless and perfect from start to finish. We were warmly welcomed on arrival and allowed to leave our bags in the storage room while we explored the city and our room was readied. If you are North American, be prepared that the rooms are smaller, and the elevator will only hold 2 people (without luggage), but this didn't take away from the perfection of this hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cleaning staff were diligent and meticulous. The bathroom was exquisite and luxurious. Beds were comfortable and temperature was warm. Our family of four lived in the room for a week without issue. We were close to many subway stations, which made getting around the city simple and easy. This hotel is located just outside of the tourist areas, which we enjoy. Lots of bars, cafes, markets, and boulangeries on the block. Would definitely recommend Hotel Du Plat d'Etain to anyone visiting Paris

The room itself was much smaller than appears in the pictures on Expedia. No room to place bags in the room and no room for toiletries in the bathroom.

Paris visit - August 2025

From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. The staff greeted us warmly and made check-in quick and easy. Our room was spotless, and surprisingly the room with twin beds were very spacious (we had rented two rooms), had comfortable beds and high-quality linens. AC and shower were the best. We stayed 4 nights.

The location was perfect — close enough to walk to major attractions, yet peaceful and quiet at night. We especially appreciated the little touches, like complimentary coffee/expresso machine, fresh towels daily.

We did not get breakfast since the bakeries was right across the hotel. Every interaction with staff was friendly and professional.

I would stay there again.

Very comfortable room and beds. The ice from their ice machines is really, really good! The delicious crunchy kind. It was hot so we were refilling our cups with ice every couple hours. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The hotel is very close to the Metro, it made the whole of Paris feel very accessible.

Enjoying the Pulse of Le Marais

Hotel du Plat d'Etain is a terrific place to stay to experience the daily flow of life in Paris. By which I mean: the hotel's in the Marais district, nicely situated amid blocks where restaurants and cafes abound; where a local metro (serving the #4 & #8 lines) is just 2 blocks away. I was able to navigate my way to the hotel from CDG Airport easily. It's a spot from where you can get to so many different neighborhoods in a flash--the ease of getting to Left and Right Bank sights surprised me. That's a real value to staying here. The hotel itself: the rooms are neat, small, and well-cleaned; I loved the shower--terrific water pressure. The staff was attentive, friendly, and informative. As a not-fluent French speaker, I was grateful that the staff was multi-lingual. Breakfast is served at the hotel; but you can get fresher croissants and better brewed coffee at local cafes for half the price. All in all, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat, and I hope I'll have the chance soon again to do so!

The staff is friendly, beds are comfy and the breakfast is good. My main complaint is that you're not allowed to control the thermostat in your room. You have to call the front desk to have therm turn on the A/C and set the temperature. Another significant issue is that one of the night clerks smokes marihuana and as you enter the lobby ( after 11pm) you encounter a very strong Marijuana smell.

Quaint Friendly Staff

The front desk staff was very helpful with directions, transportation and dining options. It was nice to be close to Metro and buses. We did not eat breakfast at the hotel. The room was always well cleaned daily. However a large person could not fit in the shower and The pillows need replacing. Being able to control the room temperature without a blasting fan provided a very comfortable environment.

The property is in a good location with plenty of places to eat. The staff is great. The hotel is a boutique so super small. The elevator we had to take one at a time with luggage because it is small. Your room key has the hotel name and number of your room on it so when you leave the hotel they ask you return your key and collect back when you return because if you lost it, then your information is on the key. The room is extremely small. A childs desk, we have three beds which was great but hardly any room to move around in. They offer breakfast and it smelled great but there is also many eating establishments in the neighborhood to chose from. The small size of the room would probably be our reason not to return but location, staff and cleanliness along with safe is a reason to stay if a extremely small room does not bother you.

The hotel is well situated just 50 metres from the Metro. It is a 10 minute walk to restaurants, bars near Grands Boulevards. The hotel is very clean, and the room had a good bathroom. I doubt if the dimensions are \"quite\" as listed. We booked a 17sq.metre room, but it seemed a little smaller. We only had one small problem during our stay , but this was sorted very promptly and politely. The welcome was good and friendly. We will stay here again.

What a great hotel! I took my 18-year-old granddaughter to Paris. This hotel was super close to the metro, and restaurants, and easily within walking distance to great markets and sightseeing. The staff was the shining star at this hotel. We dont speak French so its been a bit stressful other places in the city. The staff here answered questions and were just very friendly and helpful. The room is small but expected. The bathroom was clean. I forgot to buy a corkscrew, but the front desk let us borrow one to open the wine! It takes a bit to get places but it was never too crazy long. You can tell its an older property and it has character. Theres a small luggage elevator to make the stairs easier! I really liked jt

Perfect experience for my first visit to Paris. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, even offering me an umbrella and offering to make me something to eat after my 2am arrival. The hotel felt very authentic as a french hotel, not an overly polished chain. The locker room to leave my bags after checkout and before my flight gave me more time to see the sights. Also it's just around the corner from the metro station. Just be aware the metro stops running at 10pm.

What a wonderful experience. Before arriving, the hotel contacted me and straight away I knew I was going to be in for a great service. The hotel staff couldn’t have been more helpful, providing me with information on how to get to the hotel from the station, information about a buggy rental service for my two year old and they provided me with an incredible service from day one.
The bedroom was very modern and comfortable and we were provided with a very good sized cot for our daughter.
Really pleased we chose to stay here, very close to the metro with a 5 min train journey to hard du nor and it is on the main line for access to all of the sights.
Nearby restaurants, cafes made this location perfect

Will be staying here again when we bao sit Paros in the future

The location of the hotel is great with direct access to 3 large train stations on Line 4 metro just a stones throw from the hotel.
Security felt good with access to the lobby monitored from the reception desk.
My room was large and comfortable as was the bathroom with a large shower and plenty of room around the basin.
Dining in the area is very easy with lots of cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance.

The hotel was in an area very close to Saint Denis metro stop and many restaurants. Notre Dame and Le Marais were about a 20-25 min walk. It was a safe area with a lot of people and a bakery directly across the street with pastries, coffee, sandwiches, etc. The staff was very nice and helpful. There is a small elevator. The room was clean and had a refrigerator. The tv had English stations and the bathroom was large and modern with an ok blow dryer. They gave us fresh towels, emptied the trash, and cleaned our room daily. There is a beautiful arc from the 1600’s right outside that you can look at while eating at the restaurant on the corner. Also there is a laundromat a 3 minute walk away.

The concierge in the late afternoons and early evenings was so kind and helpful, and his phenomenal service is why I’m giving this hotel a 5 star rating. He had a great recommendation for dinner, Bouillon Republique, and helped recommend the doctor next to the pharmacy a block away and call SOS medicine when we were sick. The concierge in the morning was not as friendly, and the baggage storage is not very secure (in one room every guest can get into).

Beds and pillows were the most comfortable we slept on during our travels around Europe but shorter than those in the US so our feet dangled off. There were people peeing in the hotel courtyard and three carts full of dirty housekeeping linens in the hallways we had to squeeze by to get to our room at all times of day.

It is located in a convenient location near many restaurants such as Bo&Mie bakery right across the street that has delicious raspberry croissants.

Hotel is walkable to some attractions such as the Louvre and Centre Pompidou. However, public transit is not always reliable. We ended up Ubering back from the Eiffel Tower and to the airport after watching the sunset there because there was no space to get on the trains at midnight and they were fixing the rails on the RER to the airport.
