Staff was friendly and helpful. Stayed in the 1 bedroom suite. Room was clean and comfortable. The jacuzzi tub was awesome and fits 2 people easily! The furniture was nice enough. The \"kitchenette\" was largely underwhelming. The suite is located at the end of the hall so very quiet. Good parking for being downtown and a number of plug ins for the vehicle which was a bonus. It was -33 the morning I left so my rig might not have started if it wasn't plugged in. I have stayed in this building over the years under different names and management and give the Sternwheeler a solid 4 stars as of March 2026.

The staff was exceptionally welcoming and helpful in coordinating the airport shuttle. Our best experience was at the restaurant where we enjoyed a night cap, and the bartender was knowledgeable and very friendly. She really went out of her way to welcome us despite having large groups that she was also taking care of.

Overall, a good hotel... Best part by far was the location - near transit, the river (incl. walking paths), and lots of restaurants. However, while I booked a mobility accessible room by accident online, they only had one apparently and already gave it away; for people needing that, you may want to get something in writing. The room was generally quiet, but a) the HVAC system and other 'utilities-type' noises were loud when they kicked in, and b) the bathroom door did not close at all. Small note: seemingly a lot of cigarette smokers staying there, so the hallways and elevators always stunk.

Great hotel right in the heart of Whitehorse. Super easy to walk to the river, shops and dining. Very friendly, attentive staff. I had a few special requests to be sent to our room and they kindly obliged. My only comment would be to have a few more garbage cans in the lobby area and outside.

Room was nice, friendly staff and the restaurant is excellent. The parking situation is bad, only about 18 spots in a very cramped lot. BUT - we parked on the street right below our room and had no issues. Go to the visitor center and get a 3 day street parking pass for free. It's also free overnight and only 50 cents and hour during the day so its cheap. I would have liked to know ahead of time about the parking and only found out about the visitor center pass from staff at a local outfitter, the hotel never mentioned it. I would stay again, the hotel itself is good.

This is a larger hotel with a restaurant attached. We ate there one night and it was good. The hotel is older but our room was updated, clean and comfortable. The two items that could be worked on would be more hot water available at peak times and the ac unit was quite loud( but effective!). We stayed twice and would stay again.

The hotel only had us staying for one night and called me several times to confirm our reservation then informed me that I was past check out time and I had to explain again and provide proof that I was booked and had paid through Expedia for two nights. It was very disappointing to go through this.

I thought for the price we paid the hotel would be in a bit better shape…needs a facelift. Rugs need replacing and the wallpaper looks like it’s from the 60s. Also, the ceilings are rather strange..maybe it’s just soundproofing not done so good.
Also, the parking lot was under construction and there really wasn’t enough spots for everyone’s cars.

First and last time I will be staying at the Sternwheeler. Nothing wrong with the property itself, but after travelling for 14 hours, the last thing I wanted to deal with was a check in staff with zero customer service abilities. The Sternwheeler was a wonderful hotel. We had originally booked another hotel and were unable to stay there. We had a truck load of stuff and the Sternwheeler went out of their way to find a safe place to park for the night. The room was very comfortable and the staff was excellent. We enjoyed supper in the hotel restaurant and it was very good. I'll be sure to stay there if I'm in Whitehorse again.

Way over-priced for this non-distinct, dated property. Did not consider it good value for this much money. However, the restaurant, which is connected to the hotel, but not part of the hotel (i.e., you can't charge your meal to your room) did a very nice service. Highly recommend the bison chili!!

This was a nice hotel. It was quite a long walk to get to the room from the elevator and the floors were a little uneven, but the location is convenient and close to many restaurants. Parking lot filled up fast and was not very smooth. The room was clean, comfortable and everything worked fine. No breakfast, so not a great value, but we stayed there on our way up north and again on the way back home, so we were happy with our stays.
