The key didn't work properly in the lock which was already known to the staff but they didn't seem concerned to do anyting about it.

My room and bed were both small but clean. Shared shower and toilets very basic and not so clean. I was a sole female traveller and felt insecure. This may have been a misconception but enough to mean I wouldn't choose to stay here again.

I made a booking and sent several messages stating that i would be arriving at 8pm and would required late check in. I tried to call several times and left voice messages and i also sent two text to the number. I never got a responce. When i arrived, there was no one to check me in, no note and a looked office. I tried to call several more times only to go through to voicemail. I ended up sleeping in my car. I have demanded a refund but still no responce. Absolutly disgusting that will not answer the phone or respond to voice messages or text messages. I even sent a message via whatif the booking agent.

The worst place to stay at. Waited 50 mins to be checked in then we got to our room and I would’ve rathered stay in a jail sell for the night with 5 other guys. Immediately checked out after 5 mins of being there

My room was clean and neat. The manager was very friendly and kind. The hostel was quiet and fairly peaceful. Some things were overlooked like bathroom cleanliness and lack of toilet paper. But otherwise the location was perfect and it suited my needs

this room worked pretty well for me. the building is a huge building, and appears to be an old (1950s?) boarding house - if you have any interest in architecture you will like its characteristics. the room did not have its own en-suite, but the shared toilets and showers were ok. every other room started at double the cost!

Nice place; but the bunk beds were extremely loud which makes getting up in the middle of the night sound like a klaxon alarm. Just hope you dont need to drink some water or go to the toilet while on the top bunk :)

We stayed here for a night. The Checkin process was a lil bit of a hassle, it was a lil tough to find the place too. The shared bathrooms were not very clean, it was super cold but we were provided heaters. Overall an okay stay but I would not go back.

The overall property was okay! It really is nothing fancy, but it was a quiet and clean environment with staff leaving you to your own devices. I was not a large fan of the shared bathroom and showers, it was pretty inconvenient. The hotel staff were very kind and warm, with excellent customer service skills. Wasn’t as clean as I wanted, and very little cooking utensils there and even eating utensils, and the owner was a rude man , took me 30 Minutes just to get the key even though I rang and said I’d be there between the times

Owner was very accommodating making arrangements for me to check in after midnight even though there was no one to be there in reception at that time. I did find it a little difficult to find the place in the dark as the building is not on street level but up a steep set of stairs. Really loved the vibe of the place. Not as noisy as some backpackers in Sydney I have been to. All round, excellent value for money. Will definitely be back.

I Was surprised to find people sleeping in common area like TV room and Reading room. Room is a little bit dusty. Common toilet was quite cold in winter without heater. The positive point is very nearby to restaurants, supermarkets and shopping.

The common lounge room is absolutely welcoming: A nice log-look gas fire, calming original paintings on walls, lovely high view, big-screen TV, sweetly furnished window seats and comfy lounges.
The bed in my room was excellent: so comfortable.

The Lodge is in an excellent location in Katoomba. Its old but is comfortable with several lounge areas and a kitchen and dining area. I was disappointed that my credit card was debited with fees attached before my arrival even tho the Hotels.com website said I would either pay on check in or check out. I was told this was normal practice but they would refund and allow me to pay another way. I chose not to do this as I have experienced problems with this in the past. In spite of this I would stay again.

\"Rooms are tiny. Bed squeeked every time you rolled over. Needed more pillows. Aircon was the propped up window that rattled all night. Floor boards squeaky and not swept properly as there were hair bands and stones left from previous guest. Sink in room 19 did not drain away for hours. Not sure if bathrooms are cleaned daily as there was used soap left on window ledge and mens undies still in one corner.

Quaint old lodge from a bygone era
There are no ensuites but plenty of share baths, showers and toilets. A kitchen and dining room in which to cook and eat. The owner/receptionist doesn't come until 4 pm, but bags can be left until then in a cosy sitting room. You could probably even grab a shower and hot drink while waiting. Rooms are quaint and basic but with reasonable rates. Familes with children are welcome. Rug up in winter as the wind is bitterly cold. If approaching from train station, take Katoomba Street and laneway beside Uniting Church, not Lurline Street as the back stairs are murder for luggage.

A Guest House with the charm of yesteryear
An older style guest house reminiscent of Katoomba from a time gone by. Adequate facilities, a basic room, clean, and at an affordable price. While not an 'up-market' establishment it was pleasant and well maintained. I stayed over a weekend of heatwave conditions and sweltered in my room overnight without a fan.

When I booked this hotel, it wasn't clear that it's going to be a shared bathroom. The bathroom also didn't have any soap. Just a hand soap so we came late at night unprepared. The weather was also very windy that day and the window in the room was rattling so badly that it woke us up and it took a while for us to be able to head back to sleep. It was also very cold at night and unfortunately the thin blankets didn't really help. I would recommend this place for those in a tight budget but wouldn't recommend those who opted for comfort.

I would like to acknowledge that the hostel was very clean, nice, well located and quiet. The staff was nice and helpful. However if they don't want to lose customers, they should invest in new mattress. We couldn't sleep at all, uncomfortable and noisy. Plus the pillows are way too high that your head is not resting in a natural position.

I booked on way to Katoomba by phone without many details. Price seemed ok.
Bed was comfortable. I was upgraded from single to queen plus single bed. Gave me more room.
The tv was pretty useless. Picture unclear and dark. Only ch 9 attainable. Not worth watching. I reported this and handyman was to check?? Nothing changed. A BIG disappointment was absence of a FAN. It was hot much of the time. The showers, although good, never were cleaned during my stay.
I felt safe and didn't mind the 'back packers' type place I had unknowingly booked
into. Good atmosphere. Very orderly.

Very disappointing. Expected plain for the price but this was absolutely Spartan. Bed, sink and power point. Curtain didn't fit the window. Two flights of stairs to toilet and shower. Lots of very noisy international young travellers.

Quirky Place in Katoomba
Set in an historical building in Katoomba this place is in the middle of town and has free parking. The dining area is covered in fading red velvet wallpaper from the early 1900s with same period paintings hung around the room. The shared toilets were very clean, but the same could not be said for the showers. Great living areas to hang out in. Yes everything is dated, but I found it charming. They do advertise it as budget accommodations so I don't think you can complain about the furnishings.
