Outstanding! I stayed here for 2 weeks whilst finalising my relocation for a new Brisbane Based role. The service was outstanding & all the staff are so warm, welcoming & so helpful. A huge personal thanks from me particularly to Emma, Nick & Chris who were beyond exceptional. I am ever so grateful for all the help I received.

There are separate private work or rest areas & overall the facilities are superb!
Great value & a fantastic central location with excellent transportation options. I loved my time here & I highly recommend.

Awesome spot, met lots of people and ended up with about 15 of us hanging out the whole time i was there. The gym isnt really a gym, just has a few dumbbells but everything else was great.

During the evening there were some drunk guests hanging around the main entrance hassling people. That was kind of annoying.

Clean and in a good location. Check-in process was far too lengthy and the bathroom light did not work. Loud noise from the neighboring construction site started at 5.45 am so not good if you hoping to be asleep at that time.

It is a good place to stay. I didn't give it 5 stars because of a couple of issues. First, it is very noisy all day and night. If you want to have a good night sleep forget it. People speak very loud outside the rooms, kids run around yelling. I have never experienced something like that in any hotel I have beem before. Second, the shower was terrible. There was practically not water coming out. Hard to remove body wash and shampoo. There are two very important factors when staying in a hotel. The rest of the facilities and customer service are great.

Though it still feels safe because of the key card access. Very difficult to get fridge space, so making your own food beyond snacks is inconvenient.

As a solo traveler hostels can be hit or miss. But this place was lovely. The hostel staff were incredibly helpful and kind and even helped me with questions about working holiday visa! I stayed in the 3 bed female hostel and each person was incredibly kind and respectful of the place. For the price it’s honestly a steal especially for solo travelers. I ended up staying 3 extra days. The bathrooms are cleaned everyday and the rooms as well. I felt very safe to leave my stuff under my bed and never had any problems with theft. If you are a solo traveler and on a budget I’d highly recommend YHA.

Itt is conveniently situated to trains and public transport and is within safe walking distance of Coles supermarket, restaurants and cinema. It is clean and quiet but there is no TV in the room for those who feel the need for private viewing. Perfect for self-catering and casual socializing at the bar by the pool if you that's what you want.

This is a great property. The location to Southbank is fantastic, the views are amazing. I stayed in a double ensuite room, the shower was very very small, but it was clean enough and did the job. Room size was good. I only stayed for 1 night so can't comment on the rest of the facilities but I would highly recommend staying here.

Some staff members here are extremely rude to the point of being both dismissive and abusive! The place is dirty and smells like homeless people or drug addicts. Since there aren’t any European backpackers at the moment, this hostel is mostly filled up with strange elderly people and those bordering on homelessness who live there fulltime. It resembles a cross between a halfway house, a retirement home, and a mental asylum.
People are constantly smoking pot in the front courtyard area, and you cannot open the windows at all in the rooms above there without getting that very strong smell at all hours of the day and night, and inhaling enough to get high yourself and fail a drug test if given one. This might be a plus for some people, but not for me! They also turn a blind eye to people drinking their own alcohol in their rooms and even in public areas even though this is illegal given that they are a licensed venue!

When I was in a share room and removed my pillow case after sleeping on that pillow, it was so brown it looked like it hadn’t been washed at all in years, and it must have been very unhygienic sleeping on that pillow even with the pillow cover that was really just there to mask how disgustingly filthy the putrid pillow was!
During my stay there were cockroaches and other bugs in the microwaves there, and there was a totally rotten avocado left out in one of the fridges.

As a couple we prefer private rooms. Tbe one we got had a grear view of the city. I was quiet. The hostel refunded straight away when Brisbane went into lockdown which was very helpful.
My only problem is the kitchen not that great if this was improved it would make the hostel better.

The YHA is right in the town center but there is no parking space there. It’s really hard to find a parking space around YHA. I would recommend for travelers without a car.

Regretful hotel choice
The private room I payed $75 for had no tv and the mattress was an absolute piece of crap, also I could not turn on the air conditioner due to main control restricting use, this was very frustrating because opening the windows meant you were cool but then couldn’t sleep due to trains going underneath the building, also the blinds did not adequately block out the light, see image.

False advertising. Offering premium wifi, ensuite and parking to find once paid for the private ensuite room you do not provide parking or premium wifi. There is no notification of how many parks or the requirements for prebooking yet it is advertised on bookings.com and the website. The staff laughed when asked and was not helpful in finding a suitable arrangement. Extremely disappointing for the cost. The advertising clearly showed a different room layout with a much larger and modern room. Again, smart and sneaky advertising team. Nice to see sustainability a priority;however it impacted our comfort of sleep with the aircon shutting off and no option to adjust it. Nice reference to Australia’s first people with information on languages.

I arrived at 6.30am in the morning and they let me store my baggage at the storage area, which was good. On the day I left, one of the staff said that I could not use the baggage storage area but asked me to keep my baggage at the paid lockers, which was a bit unpleasant. Eventually they allowed me to store my baggage at the storage area for free.

Good hostel, nice well equipped kitchen. Bit annoying that you can't take your own alcohol, due to them having a bar on site. Destroys the atmosphere a little.

Honestly the best hostel i’ve stayed in. Really friendly staff and atmosphere, plenty of space in rooms, clean and tidy bathrooms, big kitchen with plenty storage space and a lovely outside area for both smokers and non-smokers. Great value for money and would definitely go back and stay for longer if I have the chance.
