No elevator. For a spa hotel, surprisingly no grooming products, no hand lotion, no body lotion, mo bath oils. Room was a good size, for once a closet with plenty of hangers, bed was very comfortable. Bath plug did not seal properly so bath was draining all the time you were in it which meant having to top it up constantly. Asked for a replacement plug but no response. Strangely, hot water from tub faucet was hot while hot water from shower above tub was SCALDING! For some reason housekeeping kept taking away the clean towels but not replacing them. Two days running I had to get a bath mat from reception. Room and bathroom were very clean.
Breakfast consisted of bulk purchase quality food served as a buffet under heat lamps so dry and lukewarm. Sadly this is now standard practice in many hotels. Extensive gardens which should be quite lovely in Spring and Summer..

Cheery welcome. Efficient staff. Didn’t realise the Spa was a short walk through car park & not on site. A sense of faded glory about hotel - lacking atmosphere with older clientele.
Spa full of kids & businessmen.
Probably would not choose to stay again for high price of room.

I found the lady in the lounge bar rude. I asked it there was any chicken wings and instead of saying no like most customer service friendly people would she was rude.
I paid for executive room, it smelt of dog so had to be moved, the room we when got was half the size and not value for money atall, it was more of a basic room but was told it was executive.
The spa and changing facilities are in urgent need of a refurb. There should also be cleaning carried out whilst people are using it.

This hotel is gorgeous! Food was delicious! Highly recommend.

We had been traveling for 3 weeks in the UK and France. This was the only hotel to provide luggage racks! And not just one, but two! As a senior, having to sit on the floor to locate things in my suitcase each day is not easy. This simple addition was much appreciated. Finally, a facecloth! Two would have been better for two people but I was happy to have one at all. I don’t understand why they are considered a personal item in Europe. Having to travel with a wet facecloth is quite inconvenient and rather ridiculous to this Canadian. So this too, was a very appreciated item.

The hotel is very clean and comfortable and the staff welcoming.
Not sure it is very good value for money though - the shower controls were broken but did function, EV charging was not available at the hotel but a short walk away near the gym/spa, but was even more expensive than chargers at motorway services!
Service at breakfast for anything other than the buffet was a little slow, despite there being very few guests.
Apart from these few niggles we enjoyed our overnight stay.

It’s lovely. Our daughter’s wedding was held here & we stayed the weekend. Everyone was so kind & thoughtful. Daniella, the GM was there for us when needed, so was Sofia & I’m deeply sorry I can’t remember the name of the other girl. She was so attentive & seemed sort of ubiquitous. She was everywhere helping. She was @ breakfast as well as the Montgomerie room.
The elevator was inoperable the last day, we’d luggage bc we flew in from the US. However, two gentleman came up to our room to help bring our luggage down.
Thanks again for taking care on Denille & Robert on their special day & for showing both families a hospitable time.

The window in our room was broken, the floor in the toilet lifting and mastic was poorly replaced. Little elements but not expected in a hotel of this rating.

Do not book this place unless directly !

On arrival we were told that to use the pool for one hour we would be charged £60, no possible discussion (it’s free if you book direct). Also kids are only allowed to pool from 2pm to 7pm (kind of the most inconvenient hours) Place was in a bad state, don’t know where they got four stars from. Restaurant food was awful and extremely expensive (breakfast was adequate thought but then it’s free), bar also overpriced. I ordered lamb and specifically asked for it not to be over cooked and it came incredibly overdone, even pizzas were terrible. Room was fine but with everything well worn out. Place is super ugly. On a positive, staff was nice if completely unmotivated and it’s very quiet. It’s expensive so only book if you intend to use the spa and then make sure you book direct. If you are going to eat there stick to the basics and try to get a deal ahead which you can do when you book direct. I feel like I went I to the dragon’s den and my wallet got swallowed for nothing special.

I had a disappointing visit to this hotel. I had booked to take my children away for a night during half-term and booked the hotel because it had family rooms and a swimming pool.

When we arrived, we were told we had to pay extra to use the pool as we had booked on experia rather than through the hotel directly. This was not clear at all when booking and instead felt like false advertising given the pictures of the pool on the booking site.

Despite the significant extra fee to take 4 of us swimming, we decided to go ahead because it was raining and we had been looking forward to the pool. However, we were then refused entry to the pool as I had 3 children with me. They were not young children (two over 10yrs old) and all could swim. There was no justifiable reason for not permitting us to use the hotel facilities, and I would certainly not recommend this hotel as family-friendly!

The hotel was quiet as it was just before Christmas, but for the price we paid there were too many bits and pieces that weren’t right.

Good points: the king size bed was huge and very comfortable, and the staff at breakfast were excellent.

Not so good points: we were the last in the bar, and the guy from reception came in to talk to the lady behind the bar very loudly about inappropriate stuff, including swearing. I’m no prude but there should be a code of behaviour when guests are present. We knew the pool was closed for maintenance but we were told the spa closed at eight, when we got there it changed to half past seven. The phone was broken in our room, too.

The hotel is in a nice quiet location with large grounds, and the room was big and comfortable, with a smart bathroom. There isn’t a huge choice of hotels in Hastings, so this is recommended if you’re searching.

From the minute we arrived until the morning we left the service was excellent. We had drinks in the bar, met with friends and had a meal in the restaurant. The food was, fresh, well presented and very tasty. The service was friendly and quick, staff were always around so we could order more drinks. The room was spacious, clean and in full working order, with a descent hairdryer and excellent shower. We could not fault any part of our stay. Would definitely recommend and will definitely stay here again.

Fantastic hotel

We have stayed at quite a few hotels in the past 3 years and this is the best by a country mile. Room excellent food top draw and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. Special mention for Casey one of the receptionist she went the extra mile to make our stay just that little bit more special. We have already booked to go back for a longer stay in January next year. The spa facilities next door are very good as well and we are looking forward to using their outside jacuzzi.

Two points to improve.
*The beds are more comfortable at Premier Inn.
*The evening food was not up to much, Cote Brasserie do much better. Unpleasant sauces and garnishes. \"Wood chips and lemon\". \"Ash & basil\". I jest! Mint on sea bass did not work, why not fennel or tarragon? And I can cook a pork cutlet better- with a bit of mustard, garlic oil and salt & pepper.
However, the breakfasts were good.

Not my usual choice for a weekend in Hastings, but I’ll be back next summer. The gardens are beautiful and a lovely place to sit with a gin before dinner or a latte with the papers on a Sunday morning.

The restaurant is very good and excellent value. There’s lots of choice for breakfast, all for the standard price, and the orange juice tasted like the real thing - i.e. not from concentrate.

I’m not sure about the 1980s pop music in the dining room but other guests were clearly enjoying it.

It’s the first overnight stay I’ve ever had in Hastings with no issue parking and that’s a huge bonus.

Doesn’t live up to expectations

The room was fine, a little bit on the hot side, It would’ve been better if I was on a higher floor, but I was on the first floor and so there was a roof right outside my window which meant that I didn’t sleep well with the windows open, knowing that someone could climb in from the roof.
The bathroom was okay, but Firstly, the light for the bathroom was automatic, so in the middle of the night I prefer to go to the toilet using the torch from my phone so that the light isn’t too bright as soon as you walk in the bathroom, the whole thing, lights up and blinds are you. The second issue was the height of the bath, to shower You have to climb into the bath and it was incredibly high. I really struggled and yet my shower at home is over the bath and I don’t have any problems getting in because it’s a normal height.
The reception staff, I found quite young and unaccomodating. On arrival, I asked if it would be possible to check-in slightly earlier because I was there for a funeral which meant that if I couldn’t check in early I wouldn’t be able to check-in until fairly late. They didn’t even bother to contact housekeeping to see if this would be possible. So by the time I checked in at nearly 9 pm at night. I was asked if I could move my pre-booked breakfast from 9:30 am to 9 am to accommodate a function they had booked in the next day, although they are supposed to do breakfast until 1030. All in all I was left quite disappointed.

Lovely hotel set in lovely gardens. Nice bar area for drinks. Rooms large and comfortable. Bathroom not so good, noisy fan which kept running after the light was turned out, toilet had continuous running water noise. Reception tried to charge us another £103 on check out even though the room was paid in full on booking. If you don’t book direct with the hotel, you are charged £20 extra to use the pool. For the price of staying at this hotel, the pool should be included.

We stayed for one night while visiting family. We had lunch in the bar area, which was delicious and the service good. The bar are had a really nice atmosphere with plenty of space and was nicely decorated for Christmas. The bedroom was spacious, clean and quiet. The bed was very roomy and comfortable. All in all we enjoyed our stay and will happily revisit again in the future.

nice place... but get rid of the dogs

pleasant stay, out of hastings , we were there one night. If you want the town itself, then this is not the place to go. Room still hot in late summer, but that's fairly std for uk hotels, they rarely have air cond. it would have been quiet but there are dogs being kept nearby (perhaps the strange british predilection for taking ones dog on holiday to hotels and pubs????). the dogs need to be moved. if you're unfortunate to be at that end of hotel, you can't open the window for air due to whining and barking hounds.

Otherwise a pleasant stay... only one night.

Reception: Great first impressions. Lovely reception area/lounge. Superficially looks really nice but all kinds of wrong in the room.

Room 6:

1. Noisy room from road traffic. No secondary glazing. Noise started at 05:45am approx (Monday morning) The earplugs offered (clue!) on the details page would have helped but weren’t in the room.

2. Blackout curtains but too much light leakage around them.

3. Small flies circling the light didn’t create a great first impression!

4. Spiders living in corner of room.

5. Room had a creaky floor on a decline towards bathroom. I could hear other rooms creaking too!

6. Not a practical room. Only useful space for anything was a chair!

7. Tight to walk around the end of the bed and miss the tv on the wall!

8. The shower had pink mould in the lower to mid sections. Bleach would have cleaned it most likely.

9. Top of bed well presented but the bedsheet had black marks on it when I turned down the bed. I had to sleep on top of the duvet to avoid contact with it not knowing what it was. White bed sheets should only ever be white and not any other colour!

I’m really not sure how this place received so many good reviews. Maybe all the other rooms are much better?! The lack of attention to important detail was sad. I had booked two nights but due to lack of sleep I rebooked my second night elsewhere.
The breakfast was very good. The owner was understanding of the issues and didn’t charge me for the night.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at this hotel. The room was large and well appointed with a comfortable bed. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was great and plentiful, although we felt the evening menu was all a but bland and would have benefitted from a lot more seasoning to add flavour. The hotel is in very good condition if a little dated in design. Finally the dining area would have benefitted from some artwork or wall dressing of some kind. That said we would stay again :-)

Relaxing stay with excellent customer service

We were nervous about our visit as it was the first hotel stay since Covid began. I can only praise them. The staff were all excellent. The meal times were staggered so you didn't feel on top of each other. All areas were clean & tidy with signs all over about hand washing and keeping everyone safe.
We loved our stay and have been here many times before. I would recommend this hotel and we will certainly be back again.

Food and staff were excellent. Hotel very tired in many communal areas. Beautiful grounds and property. Room would have been better with a fridge and better quality toilet paper! Very poor that the spa is chargeable to use if you booked through a third party, ie Hotels.com!!

lovely hotel, convenient for visiting the area, if you have a car. Professional and friendly staff. one small gripe; I found the curtains were not wide or close enough to the walls, to be able to block out the early morning light; so i was awake too early. I have stayed before and would stay again.

GOOD PLACE TO STAY

We chose this hotel not because it was a Spa hotel, but because we wanted to be away from the seafront in case the beachfront was crowded, and we might not have felt comfortable with Covid regulations still in place. Our rooms were a good size, very clean and all Covid protocols had been followed. It was so nice to have bottled still and sparkling water throughout our stay of 4 nights. We loved the grounds. Cannot comment on the Spa as we did not use any of the facilities.

The staff are remarkable, friendly and helpful. Not sure if it was the room that we had but the bed was very uncomfortable and the shower would get flooded.

The ambience of the dinner/brek room was great and the service was impeccable. The food was alright.

The grounds are amazing and great to walk around. We couldn’t use the health facilities for covid reasons which is understandable. We recommend staying here if you want to explore the area.

Was ok.. just ok..

Hotel is outdated. Rooms were small. TVs were tiny. Couldnt open the windows and no ac, just a fan. The staff were courteous except the lady working the bar. She was just a tad rude. Close to old hastings and rye.

We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. It’s a shame the spa and gym facilities are currently unavailable to guests, but there’s still a lot to like about this place. The pros are:
- clean and lots of procedures in place to ensure it’s containing the spread of COVID-19
-spacious and well equipped room and bathroom
- brilliant service
-restaurant food is delicious
-beautiful gardens and plenty of parking

My only gripe with this place was that the bed wasn’t the most comfortable so perhaps needs replacing.

The service received by Alex at front of house was exceptional.
The room, the view, the service can’t be faulted at all.
The hotel taking great measure in relation to COVID 19 that we felt safe, comfortable and at ease throughout our stay.
We cut our stay short at the Best Western plus Dover Marine due to the rooms been unclean , so was lucky to come across the Bannatyne Spa hotel.
Best find to date for us and will definitely be returning for another stay.
Alex is an asset to the company, friendly, warm and extremely helpful. He went above and beyond and has left a very good lasting impression.

Amazing rooms, especially the superior room. Friendly and helpful staff. The grounds are great and looks fabulous at night with all the lighting. Breakfast on the first morning was a little dried out and over cooked, although better on the next two days. Lacking choice in the bar as only one lager available due to having ran out of other draught lagers. Highly recommended and would definitely stay again in their hotels.
