Room was filthy, including dust build up on the walls, particularly the bathroom. Dirty marks on the carpet and bed linen. Massive hole in the bathroom ceiling. Shower water pressure was abysmal and took several minutes to run hot. Staff were unable to find enough pillows for 2 people to sleep in a double room.

The room was covered in damp stains and with peeling paper from what looked like a leak in the ceiling. There was a strong chemical smell in the room and the carpet was sticky. Cigarette burns on the cabinet, black mould in the shower and a cracked sink. The name \"Highland Aberdeen\" appears to be fake for online, it's not the name on the hotel. Rooms don't look like the pictures.

Pleasant stay. The room was pretty cold but it was bearable. Check in was an absolute hassle. Was sent an email with directions to send a whats app message. After messages back and forth, finally received another email with the link to check in. Why not just send that in the first place rather than having to send messages to whats app? I Would not book another stay at a OYO hotel for that reason.

I booked to stay here and upon seeing the conditions of the room I Went to the reception to request a refund. This was due to what I can only assume was bloodstains on the bed skirting. The billow was covered in stains. Then to top it all off a very large white plastic bag was tied around the smoke detector. And it wasn't subtle it was hanging very clearly. So they just didn't even look in the room or didn't care. The man on reception was adamant I would get my money back via Expedia. But, nope it would have to be through the hotel and they refused. I can't say enough how much I do not recommend this hotel.

Room could do with some minor touch ups as showing signs of wear but generally okay and for what I paid for 10 nights I would consider value for money. Very basic but I knew that when booking and as I was working away I just needed somewhere to sleep and shower and this was perfect for that. Bed was comfortable, staff friendly on reception and room was warm and cosy. Enjoyed the stay, would stay again next time i'm working up in Aberdeen. Little co-op shop just down the road and the highstreet a couple of mins walk away so a decent location. Thank you for a pleasant stay.

Spent 1 hour outside the hotel trying to check in (as the instructions said no front desk and I had to check in to get the front door code and the room code) only to find there was a desk. After eventually checking in went to room. Mattress hard as wood and no hot water for either of the 3 days I was there so cold showers....avoid this hotel at all costs

Booking cancelled prior to our arrival unknown to us. Hotel blamed Expedia, reception not concerned about turning two over 70 years old out on the street with no accommodation. This was late in the afternoon. It was difficult to find accommodation which was much more expensive, which we expect to be refunded in full. Very disappointed and upset about the whole situation.

I don't recommend

I chose the option on hotels.com to pay the extra £10 to pay on arrival incase I needed to cancel. Twenty seconds later the money was out of my account. Hotels.com said this was non refundable and were not understanding the option I chose which said put in your card details but dont worry this wont come out until you arrive. Hotels.com said its ok its pending, I explained it would not be pending for 12 days, they have taken it out. They said they would phone the hotel, two days later I got an email saying sorry its non refundable. We had to go but I was worried because I was taking my elderly mother and young son. On the day I kept getting emails saying to complete check in online and verify my card details. I did not trust this so did not do it. When we got there we were checked in no bother without needing to fill in forms online or verify my card details.
The hote was dirty, the banister was thick with dirt. The room was basic with large worn areas of carpet, the drawers fell off, the curtains were hanging off the curtain rails. The tv kept losing signal, I had to swap the aerial as one was just lying around. The shower was dirty and there was an empty can left sitting on top of the wardrobe by previous guests. There is a kettle but the receptionist said they have stopped doing tea bags altogether. So there is a kettle in the room but no milk or tea bags. No bar or lounge area like advertised on line. The hotel goes under three different names. The beds were comfy.

Overall the food was not worth the money.

Very comfortable and spacious room. The shower was amazing. Good intenet and tv. Walking distance to the busy section of Aberdeen, yet a quiet area. Towel warmer in the bathroom. I did like the electronic locks on the doors, no need to worry about losing a key. The staff were helpful and friendly. Only complaint would be is that breakfast was listed as starting at 8, but nothing was ready, so we were not able to partake.

The Highland Hotel (now merged with the Brentwood Hotel next door) is on Crown Street, less than ten minutes walk from Aberdeen bus and train station. It is just off Union Street which is the main central street in Aberdeen (the equivalent of Princes Street, Edinburgh - sort of!). We stayed for 3 days, breakfast included. The room, towels, and bed linen were spotless. But the whole hotel is 'tired'. There is no lift, but the reception man will carry up the cases for you. Usual tea and biscuits in the room. hairdryer, iron and board. and case stand. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, kind and cheerful. Responsive to any requests. The breakfasts were as good as in any hotel.(could be hotter at times) And they need a newer, quicker, toaster! The hotel is an excellent centre for travel in the Aberdeen area. Since 2 hotels have merged the room numbers are similar, so ensure which of the 2 hotels you are booked in at.

The hotel cancelled our stay at 21:00 in the evening, leaving a hastily garbled message that our room wasn't available due to \"maintenance.\"

Interestingly, we were actually unable to attend due to a medical emergency, and were in the process of seeing if we could get a refund (though we knew it was unlikely) when they called us, obliviously unaware of our ongoing refund request.

HOWEVER, they refused ALL refund requests from expedia, lying and saying that we HAD attended, and that they can confirm we were at the hotel and used the room.

All this despite the fact that THEY cancelled on us, with a voicemail to prove it. And that I wasn't within 50 miles of the place.

Look through the reviews, they've done this kind of thing before - as well as the fact that the hotel is not the Highland City Center, but actually \"Oyo\" hotel, or possibly Brentwood?

This place is clearly a scam - either they have massively fewer rooms than they claim for whatever reason, or it is a simple scam where they frequently cancel on people for monetary benefit.

Expedia refused to do anything about them, continuously siding with them for some reason, but did issue a discretionary refund on their end after about 2 hours on the phone.

Goes without saying, but: Avoid.

I stayed for five nights and was delighted with the quality of the room facilities, breakfast and service. This is a budget hotel, but the double room I stayed in was lovely and clean with a fabulous en suite, a nice big TV and comfortable bed. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful, with a great choice of cold and hot options, served buffet style. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, especially Reuben and the young woman who served breakfast. I had a fabulous stay and would definitely return whenever I need accommodation in Aberdeen. For an affordable, comfortable hotel ideally located in the city centre, this hotel is a perfect choice. I would highly recommend. Thank you to the staff team for a lovely stay!

It's says the Highland hotel but it was really was the Brentwood hotel or maybe oyo.. who knows. So confusing.. we just went to the address and Asked inside the oyo where the highland hotel was and told we were in the right place.. I asked if I could park on the street but they didn't mention they had a car park around the back.. it was pretty cheap so for one night it was okay and breakfast wasn't to bad either

Room smelled musty. Wardrobe door had been damaged and was off it's rails. Water damage to the insides of the drawers. Staining on the walls. Carpets worn and shabby. Bathroom door was badly damaged. Shower took ages to heat up, and shower head caked in limescale. No housekeeping during our stay, no A/C in the room. Beds shoddy with thin, uncomfortable mattresses, torn and stained cushions on the beds.

Only plus is that the location is fairly convenient for Union Street.

Avoid at all costs.

The area was run down and scary. The photos of the room were taken at least 20 or 30 years ago. The web site said that there was free parking. There wasn’t and what there was was expensive and didn’t look safe. The tv did not work. To get to the room required winding through a maze of up and down stairs and uneven floors. I feel that the write up on Orbitz is dishonest and misleading. We tried to contact Orbitz because we didn’t feel safe there and were told that there were no refunds— no exceptions

Very disappointed with the service and standard of the accomodation. It is advertised as having parking but there is only 2 spaces which were being used by hotel staff. I was informed I could double park but would have to return at half past midnight to move my car to let the staff out.
My room was on the top floor and as there was no lift I thought at the very least the guy on the hotel reception could have offered to help with my luggage (3 cases and around half dozen bags) but he just stood and watched.
Breakfast was average and my room was tired looking while the shower room was probably the smallest I’ve seen in any hotel.

Nice breakfast and breakfast staff that's where it ends. check in reception guy needs a smile transplant no dialogue or conversation just room 103 upstairs. nothing about where the stairs were or anything about breakfast. very small cold single room facing rear car park and beer garden, the windows need replacing as they let in cold air, noise from beer garden and noise from the kitchen vent or beer coolers vents. cold wooden floor, blinds also need replacing as some are bent and twisted, pillow where very flat no softness in them. hole in bathroom door. room just at top of first stair way could hear other guests coming and going, television had a mind of it's own sometimes would work but with no sound of say no signal, overpriced for what you get, WON'T BE BACK

A bit of a walk from the train station - up a bunch of stairs or take a longer route around them. But not bad.
Our only complaint was the bed ... you could feel the springs on the bed. The mattresses need replacing. Otherwise I would return.

Short walk to the downtown area where lots of shops and restaurants including a casino, very disappointed in the format. Felt safe in the area but needed lots of patience driving around.

A lovely stay in an ideal location

Lovely stay! The room was clean and tidy. Going to Aberdeen, the sound of seagulls outside was to be expected - nothing the hotel can do about that! Would recommend earplugs if this should annoy future guests. Helpful staff and free breakfast made it a great stay. Ideal location too, just off the main street. Late check-out on Sunday was a blessing as well.

Arrived to check in, and had to stand for a while pressing the buzzer, took a while for a staff member to show up at reception. It turns out there was no parking even though this this was advertised.

We were then directed to our room which according to the receptionist was outside the main hotel , and 4 blocks down the road.

When we got to the front door of the room, it turns out that the door was locked with a key, while we were given swip cards.

We then went back to the reception , and had to stand again for a while pressing the buzzer as the receptionist who directed us to the room had once again disappeared.

When she showed up , I explained what the issue was, and she apologised and this time directed us to room 104 which is inside the main hotel, so I had to lift our luggage plus a pram back in again and up the stairs.

Got to the room and it turns out the chair in room was broken , my little daughter nearly injured herself sitting on this , we checked the shower room only to also discover that the shower door had come off. Hence I had to immediately return to the reception, and as usual waited for a while to be answered, the reception seemed harassed and confused hence I didn't want to give her any grief, just reported it so we don't get blamed for it. Went back to the and tried to turn on the television, except there was no battery in the remote.

Beds extremely uncomfortable, no lifts , poor accessibility. Would not recommended at all.

Nothing special and overpriced. Staff was friendly but the free parking that was advertised did not exist.
