Where to start?
On check-in was advised no breakfast as issues with kitchen. Had paid extra for this and still waiting on confirmation of refund.
Building and room were extremely dated and looked like nothing has been done for at least 30 years.
Mattress was definitely well beyond its useful life and springs completely gone so it felt like sleeping in a bath.
Carpet felt damp but probably due to cold from underneath.
Shower (in bath) was as least warm but flooded floor of bathroom when used.
Walls are so thin you could hear the conversations in the room next door which didn't help when their normal speaking voice could probably be heard on the other side of Aberdeen.
On a positive note the room was warm and there was a kettle.
Having said that I will not be back.

Don't stay at the Brentwood Aberdeen City Centre near Union Street.I notified the hotel of my arrival time via their digital check-in system and arrived exactly when stated. Despite this, I was not shown to my room as their instructions promised—just told where to go. When I got there, the room had not been cleaned: dirty linens on the bed, a bag of rubbish on the floor, and an open drinks bottle left behind. Given that the hotel knew when I was arriving, this was unacceptable. The receptionist offered no apology and simply told me to wait 20 minutes. After waiting, I was told I’d be moved to a different room.The replacement room was also problematic. The blind was broken, and the maintenance man walked in without knocking before telling me it couldn’t be repaired until the following week. The chair was broken, with the seat detached from the frame. The heated towel rail only had two rails that worked. The bathroom mirror light didn’t work at all—I took photos and a video as proof. There was visible water damage and mould on the bathroom ceiling. The hallway carpets were stained, and the corridor outside my room was thick with cigarette smoke on both nights.On top of this, the digital keypad system failed. I was locked out of my room after the first night until someone at reception reset it. A neighbouring guest was less fortunate—he spent over an hour in the early hours trying to get into his room, triggering the keypad alarm

I was moved to another room on arival because my room (was a disgraceful)
Then I was followed by another guests at the hotel and he got into my private space. Because there is no lock on the downstairs entrance door. I was absolutely terrified to sleep. The noicses were extremely bad. I had to go to reception in the (in the next building) in my bare feet, because i hot locked out of my room chasing a man away from my door. I am luckily alive after being stalked by another guest. The room was dirty. And there was no cups in the room to make a coffee.

Not sure where to start it’s the worst hotel I have in my 48 years stayed in ! Room was filthy, freezing cold and the tv looked like it had been ripped from the wall (it also didn’t work), the WiFi wouldn’t connect and it was smelly. We left within 5 minutes and stayed elsewhere in the city.

Customer service was awful. Stayed here years ago and it’s gone right downhill.guys in office were hanging over the computer, while another ran up and downstairs to “check “ if rooms were ready. One complained that they didn’t have enough cleaners, yet, they could have lent a hand and helped instead of hanging around there. The entrance lobby was dingy and messy looking. In the morning I went looking for where I could get breakfast and followed the signs, then ended up in a dark downstairs passage. The guy also told us there wasn’t many stairs to our room, yet it was on the top floor, and because we were in for 5 nights, we had heavy bags. Fine and cheap and good location, but I wouldn’t stay there again and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone either

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. Worst hotel I've ever stayed in for a one night stay. The staff needs to have some serious training in hygiene. The rooms were not cleaned to a good standard and the staff prepared food without hair nets leading to hair in the food. No telling what the kitchen was like but given the status of the rooms it most likely did not meet the requirements of a good hygiene rating.

The bathroom was disgusting, mould on the walls - no shower mat (despite a sign saying to use one), so it was a slip hazard when climbing in / out of the bath to get a shower.
There was a very strong smell of curry when you enter the hotel. Overall, whilst admittedly very cheap - it is not somewhere I would return to. I would rather pay a bit more and feel “clean” when I leave.

The hotel was pricey, but that was because of Offshore Europe. However, I hadn't realised how much the Brentwood had decayed since I last visited (many years ago). This is not a pleasant hotel - it's in urgent need of refurbishment; the building, it's contents, and its cleanliness are a far cry from anything I would consider acceptable. Fellow customers were noisy, sitting in corridors, and looking like they had been placed there by the authorities (perhaps they had). All-in-all not a nice experience and I won't be staying again. Sorry.

Absolutely disgusting. I had stayed at the Brentwood a few years back and it was fine - had no complaints. On this occasion I was appalled at the lack of cleanliness and services provided with my 4 night stay.

The floor was filthy, had never seen a brush or mop in a very long time. As a result, my bed was full or dirt and dust from what was being picked up on my feet. There was no house keeping provided my entire stay, thankfully i had 2 towels to use but I had hoped the bedsheets may have been changed due to the filth form the floor.

The shower wasn't in great condition, a clear build up of grime within the door panels and seals. There was other guests hairs dotted around the room.

Furthermore, the tv didn't work at all and I was awoken throughout the night by banging of doors in the hall. The plug socket behind the bed was loose which was very concerning! The Kettle plug had been Sellotaped together and had no PAT test sticker on it so it was clearly unsafe to use.

I popped into reception on 3 occasions to request a new room, but no one was available so I just had to accept my fate.

Apparently they give on a first come basis regardless if you’ve paid or checked in online. Check in was at 2pm and we arrive at 3pm! No apology or help to find alternative accommodation. This has to be the worse place I have ever stayed!
Firstly the car park was awful round the back of the hotel, limited spaces as most of them were filled with furniture and dirty mattresses. Paid £33 for the pleasure of parking there!
Our 1st room was disgusting, no functional window and a blind that wouldn’t close. Mold everywhere and not a bit of the carpet that wasn’t clean. A door that went directly into the room next door, tissue in the hold for the door handle and could hear every word next door was saying.
Went to reception to ask for another room but as it was late on they said the couldn’t do anything until the morning. The man on reception tried to sort our blind but it still wouldn’t fully close. Never slept a wink. Went to reception in the morning and was told we had to wait on a room being cleaned. We eventually got this room at 6pm but in the adjacent hotel, and this room was worse than the first one.
Was stinking of cigarettes and there was cigarette ash everywhere, the carpet was absolutely disgusting and clearly hadn’t been cleaned. Every inch of this room was awful. Worst thing was a used condom behind the bin under the desk. Again went to complain to reception and was greeted by a very rude and arrogant man who refused to assist with anything. Not his problem as he had already given us another room.
Visited reception 5 times with complaints and they don’t give a . tried to get refund but was rejected as they said we never told them about our issues! Avoid

I don’t know how this hotel received the rating it has. Some observations:
- the hallways have not been vacuumed in ages noted by the thick accumulation of dust around the edges
- the room had a desk that was merely a cut piece of laminate with a raw edge that could never be kept clean nor hygienic
- there was old soap in the shower soap holder that is of indeterminate age
- no information is available in the room regarding nearby facilities
- the TV does not play any live channels as the aerial system has not been maintained
- and final insult was the towels left in the room where in fact no bigger than a floor mat. This required going to reception to ask for real towels.
Interestingly, we spoke with another guest who was staying for work. He told us that his office had booked it and has told them to never book this hotel again. He had approached us with similar concerns about the conditions.
Overall a very poor experience. I would not recommend this Hotel.

Appalling Experience – Booking Cancelled Twice, Price Hiked, and Refund Mess

I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Brentwood Aberdeen City Centre near Union Street. I originally booked a room well in advance, only for the hotel to cancel my reservation without warning. The same room was then immediately relisted at a higher price.

Trying to salvage my plans, I rebooked at the inflated rate — only to have that second booking cancelled just one hour before I was due to arrive. No call, no apology, just a generic cancellation email. I was left stranded, tired, and scrambling to find last-minute accommodation.

To make matters worse, the hotel said they’d issue a refund — then followed up with another email telling me to request the refund myself. That triggered even more stress, as I now had to explain the situation to Hotels.com, making it clear that I didn’t cancel anything — the hotel did. And yet, they had the nerve to try and charge me a cancellation fee.

This was hands down the most unprofessional, dishonest experience I’ve ever had with a hotel. If you value peace of mind, avoid this place at all costs.

We knew it would be basic but it was sooo noisy. This was from the room above to past midnight. Banging and the could hear the talking. It was very late. The street outside was also noisy with people arguing etc. There is a very large staircase that leads from the station to the elevation of the hotel. There is probably another way to arrive but this was the most direct and it was very difficult. Had to phone a number to get someone to do check out. After the call a person did arrive at the desk.

They did the same to a young couple and the girl was pregnant , sli.e of humanity for me .
Hoels.com are just as bad as they refuse to give you your money back aswell , twice in a row . The last hotel had slugs climbing up the door and the roo.m was full of rubbish , but they still refused to return my money .

As my favourite hotel the mercure in Aberdeen was unavailable this was my only choice it been Bank Holiday weekend
On your own is a brand I won’t even use as they have run down hotels and a bad reputation.
This hotel was an exception to the rule as they gave me a room on the top of the hotel in the attic so I could people watch as per my request.
Room 301 was clean, nice and comfortable and the only downside is that I wished windows opened to let fresh air into the room or a fan provided to cool down the room .
Hardworking friendly Asian staff and I noticed some of the guests were obnoxious towards people who were different from themselves .

The property seriously needs updating. We’ve stayed here before and always had a lovely room but, this time was disgusted. The carpet was dirty, not hoovered, the dust behind the bed was unbelievably.
The stains on the base of the bed was horrible. The lights base had dust on them. Looks like someone had either kicked or punched the bathroom door, that should have been fixed.
The bathroom floor didn’t look like it had been cleaned as looked like dead bugs in the corner of the bath, shower only trickled water when was on.
TV in the room not even set up to work. Only one pillow each on the bed.
We left at 7.20am and wanted out of the place quickly so, we couldn’t judge the breakfast.
Will never go back to the place again. Avoid!!

The OYO is budget, it knows it, and it doesn't pretend to be anything else.
The price was about fair because the hotel is in a good location for the centre of Aberdeen and the train station etc.
It's pretty down by being very tired and in need of a refurbishment throughout. Some carpets were threadbare, light fittings were broken and I couldn't bring myself to shower there for example. There also ISN'T ANY PARKING AT THE HOTEL. It says there is, on a first come first serve basis, on Expedia, and on the website, but there isn't. There's only street parking outside the hotel.
It was however quite clean, comfortable, and little good points like three cups and three glasses in a room for three. You'd be surprised how many 'fancy' hotels get that wrong. These saved the property from two stars.

Although it says its a Hotel, I get a feeling it might also be an HMO. Couldnt get in the entry door the first time as there was a couple having a cigarette on the steps ,so went to the reception were I was met by a gentleman whose english wasn't great, and told to wait for his colleague. A man arrived wearing an red ovo t-shirt, I explained about the automatic check in i was given by text and he said just go ahead. I raised my concern about being able to get in that way but he said yeh , yeh just go! The couple had gone from the steps so I went up to the outside door which was meant to locked , it wasnt so I walked straight through the door.When going to my room, the was a strong smell of cooking and two rooms I passed opened their doors to look out at me
When I entry my room (which was the only one with a security lock on it) I was greeting with a cracked window, a carpet that badly needs an upgrade and a dresser that could do with the same! . The bathroom itself was clean but the ceiling and fan were filthy and the shower needs a good scrub. Yes the room was only £55 so you could argue you get what you pay for but .... !
I turned around and left and booked into the Douglas Hotel which was 100% better. Lost £55 and payed £80 for a proper hotel room in a proper hotel.Lesson learnt !

A Vile, Decrepit Abomination That Should Be Condem

This so-called hotel is an abomination and a stain upon the very concept of hospitality. The building is not merely aged; it is rotting, a fetid carcass masquerading as accommodation. The stench of stale smoke clung to every surface as if the walls were exhaling decades of filth and decay. The room was nothing short of a health hazard — a grotesque, festering chamber that should be cordoned off and demolished immediately. It is nothing less than scandalous that this disgraceful hovel is permitted to welcome guests. I would not wish a night here upon my worst enemy.

Good clean and city centre!

Check-in was pre-arrival online. Simple to do. Recieved codes for checking in. Quite simple and the lock on the actual room door was automatic and seemed very secure. The receptionist was a nice chap. Friendly and helpful. We had an issue with a blown lamp in the room which he sorted immediately. he TV wasnt so easy to use as there didnt seem to be a signal. We did ask for help with this but in the end just decided to read. Which was peaceful. We used the bath which worked well and was clean and easy to use. Also the shower was good. There was a hairdryer in the room and tea and coffee facilities with biscuits. Slept very well. With a location right in the centre of Aberdeen I would recommend this as a very reasonably priced place to stay although overall the building inside seems a little weather worn, but it was a good central place to stay.
