A great place to stay

A wonderful stay. We stayed in Rm 303 with a huge four poster bed, wooden shutters, very large bathroom and our own terrace. A very traditional Spanish hotel in a perfect central location for walking to all that Seville has to offer.

Beautiful historic property, some of which is in need of refurbishment. The hotel advertises a pool, which is misleading. It has an area with water but there is no access in or out of the water. The hote is set in the old historic district, which adds to the charm but access by car difficult.

This hotel definitely has a unique style, but it is NOT a 4-star property. At least not when visiting in winter. We stayed in junior suite (on the top floor) which has a large separate bathroom where the only heating was a small, portable radiant heater. Add in the tile flooring and the bathroom was always freezing. You could leave the door open to get heat from the bedroom, except the bathroom had a glass section of roof (over the toilet of all places) with 3 air conditioning (?) units which seemed to keep running constantly and were too noisy at night. The bathroom had a nice big claw foot tub, but only enough hot water to half fill it. The \"offsite parking\" is a parkade nearby they have a deal with, but you get to haul your luggage from there uphill to the hotel on narrow streets with even more narrow sidewalks. The parkade itself is a nightmare of narrow lanes and impossible sharp turns (dinged the rims multiple times). The bed was fairly firm and literally just outside the window was a church steeple with bells that rang hourly from 9am to 10pm (rough if you're jet lagged). The breakfast was fairly good, although limited in some choices (fruit in particular). There is a hot menu of eggs you can order from, except the second morning our waiter seated us, got use our tea and an empty(?) cup of \"coffee\" and then disappeared never allowing us to order from the menu. Just too many issues for a 4-star hotel.

Romantic Weekend Getaway in Sevilla!

For our Anniversary celebration, we picked Hotel Ateneo Sevilla for its historic and romantic ambiance. It matched the photos and did not disappoint. Conveniently located about 10-15 mins. walk to Cathedral with public parking just a few blocks away, there’s a square in front with restaurants and a bar next door as well as on-site. We did not partake of the daily breakfast, so unable to comment. There’s a quaint pool in a patio that is perfect for cooling off on a hot day!

What an amazing property. As others have commented, it’s like staying in a mini palace! Rocio was so kind and patient. The hotel was clearly understaffed and she worked so hard to accommodate our needs. During a 42 degree heatwave, The ac in my first room (on an upper floor) was not working so she offered to switch rooms and it was fantastic. My friends had issues with their safe. For all of this, we were offered complimentary breakfast which was generous, made to order, and served in a stunning little breakfast/ dining room. They also gave made friends a comp bottle of wine AFTER we had checked out, when they returned with heat exhaustion to collect our luggage. Thank you, Rocio. You were amazing!

A little gem

Lovely hotel , very Spanish with amazing interior built around a courtyard. Friendly staff. The only disappointment was we had a room on the ground floor (102) and it felt like we were underground. It had no natural light and consequently felt cold especially during the day. I should have asked to change rooms but didn’t want to make a fuss. Otherwise it was in a perfect location with a nice bar next door and classy restaurants within walking difference . Just don’t have room 102. I would highly recommend this hotel otherwise.

There have been very few hotels we've stayed in where you immediately felt like a member of the family when you checked in. Hotel Ateneo Sevilla is one such property. It is gorgeous. You'll want to immediately start taking pictures. The rooms are fantastic and the staff is unparalleled in their customer service.

. The hotel is an old style house. We liked a lot. We booked a superior room, and it was very nice. The only issue about the room was stairs to get to the bathroom. it is a challenge to get to the bathroom during the night if you don’t want to wake up your spouse/partner. Beside it, the hotel is very well located. Be aware about the hotel address. We never found a taxi driver knowing the hotel location. Make sure to ask at front desk a point of interest close by to tell to the taxi driver.....

Great location in terms of the main attractions. Friendly and helpful staff. They even purchased a low stool for my elderly mum who had trouble stepping into the raised bath tub. Gorgeous looking hotel and looks even better than the photos. We had 2 connecting rooms, heaps of space and 3 bathrooms. One of the rooms had a fantastic library with the bedroom located in the loft. Room cleanliness was an issue at times. The bedroom loft's carpet was a tad dirty when we arrived in that there were food crumbs on it. Half the time we were there our used coffee cups would remain uncleaned. The other issue was the downstairs bedroom's aircon. Initially we thought we just weren't using it properly. We were informed that the aircon would only work if the doors and windows were shut. Unfortunately, despite doing all these it became clear that the aircon was just blowing hot air instead of the cool air we wanted. This room also perpetually smelled of cigarette smoke which didn't help given the lack of ventilation. Management informed us it's a nonsmoking hotel and they couldn't figure out where the cigarette smoke was coming from either. Also, this hotel can be tricky to get to by car. Quite a number of people that had to pick us up gave us this feedback. Overall, a lovely hotel and most of the suggestions can be easily addressed.

Boutique hotel extraordinaire

Outstanding boutique hotel with beautiful decor throughout boasting of classical refined antiques. The owners of this hotel clearly put their hearts and souls in its renovation. It is as if they invited you into their private residence as all of the fixtures and furnishings are of the highest quality. The woodwork throughout is gorgeous. Our reception could not have been better with a tremendous knowledge of local Seville allowing us to enjoy fine dining as well as directing towards areas of town specializing in high quality ceramics. This is a terrific hotel well worth the effort to find amongst the many small streets of old town Seville. Thank you for treating us like special guests.

The hotel is steeped in history, the interior decor is design to look like a gentleman Library filled with many Globes telescopes books and other interesting artifacts. My suggestion for a room is 303. It has its own private rooftop balcony that overlooks the adjacent Church steeple. Breakfast of full of wonderful local fare, a good selection of cheeses fruit pastries and for those that require cooked eggs that are available. The location is perfect for the old city and in close proximity to some wonderful restaurants. The swimming pool was a Haven in the late afternoon especially during our trip where the average daily temperature was 44 degrees Celsius. 😅 the service was attentive and helpful including advising on some local attractions and restaurants.

Lovely hotel with authentic Spanish feel. Wonderful central atrium and cute courtyard with tiny - but very blue! - swimming pool. Room was comfortable and the bathroom enormous. The air conditioning was blissfully efficient, as was the free WiFi. Only stayed one night but would happily return. Staff were extremely helpful and cheerful, and the concierge was very willing to call me a taxi and explain to the driver where I was going. Would recommend.

Fabulous staff and great location

We would highly recommend this hotel because it is so close to everything - shops, restaurants etc just around the corner.
The fish restaurant a few doors away had a Michelin rating but must be booked. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful particularly Lorenzo.
There was a great restaurant across the road on the corner - second along with interesting food using figs.
We loved Serville and would definitely stay at this hotel again.

With only 10 rooms, this beautiful, unique boutique hotel was situated in a great location central to all the city sites. The staff was attentive, helpful and professional. While my room was small, it was clean, comfortable and contained all the amenities you could require, but there are larger rooms available to reserve. I love Seville and will definitely come back to stay at Ateneo!

Check in ok. English speaking very limited. Helpful staff despite language issues. Easy to get lost in the area. Failed to clean room. Fairly well located to walk to Mesquita and Alcazar (both worth seeing). Plenty of dining if you head towards the Mesquite. Breakfast at hotel pricy, but hard to find in the neighborhood. We found a good place about two blocks away. The room and the hotel was very pretty, just small. Our room is pictured in the Expedia listing

Lorenzo met us at reception and was warm, professional and helpful from the get go and remained so throughout our stay. The hotel was full of charm. Our superior double was excellent and the bathroom was great. Breakfast was limited in choice but sufficient and tasty. Definitely plan on returning to seville and plan on returning to this hotel. This is rare for me as like to try out new hotels when I revisit a place. Great central location. Definitely 5 star experience for me.

This ranks as perhaps one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The hotel is luxurious, the room we were in (the junior suite) was large, tastefully decorated and had a large private terrace. The staff were friendly knowledgeable and went out of their way to help including fetching me when I got lost I was at another hotel close by and they came and got us and drove us the short distance to the hotel. This is a superb hotel all around. If you have a chance to stay here don't miss out!! You will not regret it

Walkable distance to plenty of restaurants and shops. Staff was friendly, available, very helpful. One downside is the room cleaning. This hotel only has 10-11 rooms and if you're not out of the hotel early you might miss out on getting your room cleaned.

My wife and I were greeted with the most amazing host. We could not have had a better stay. 100% worry free. We spent 16 days in Europe and this was easily the best. It was quiet and walking distance to everything. It was one of the few places where we could have just stayed in the hotel. Took a lot of pictures, it is that nice!

This is a very authentic Seville experience. The physical hotel is magnificent and the staff is amongst the most hospitable we have had the pleasure of experiencing. Tour guides and taxis are familiar with the hotel despite its small size. Breakfast is extravagant. Be prepared that it is a 4 star hotel on a 1 star plaza. Good thing it's only a block from a nicer vibe. Our luxury experience bumped into students staying at the hostels all around us. Students were very well behaved but just not looking for the same experience as Hotel Ateneo guests.

We were greeted by the hotel's staff as soon as we entered the hotel. They offered us a drink as they showed us the main attractions in Seville. The hotel itself is in great condition and is uniquely decorated to match the architecture and designs often found in Andalucía. Love this place

Small and very cute hotel. Very friendly personnel. Check-in was easy and unique. You are offered \"free\" cocktail while waiting in a beautiful lobby during the check-in. I had to stay one extra night (lost my train to Barcelona) and they accommodated me in a nice suite (they did not have regular rooms available) for the same price. The are not shy about filling your cocktail glass to the rim at no extra charge. Highly recommend this hotel.

A really nice hotel (which even the taxi drivers can't find!) situated in a square with a fabulous tapas bar. Sadly we were given the smallest room with no view, even though I'd booked a long time in advance and had requested a lovely view (it sometimes works). I tried to upgrade but there was nothing available, I had a good moan and the lovely staff gave us free breakfast for the 3 days that we were there to make up for my disappointment. The breakfast is wonderful.

The staff were extremely helpful when my wife had an accident involving a hospital admission and went out of their way to ensure that any support needed was provided. Lovely hotel, with wonderful decor and staff. Very close to the centre in an ideal location. Quaint little bar. A very small pool for dipping into when the weather is hot.

I am almost certain the website stated tea and coffee facilities in rooms however this was not the case.

Seville was a fantastic place for a short break with a great combination of famous sights, authentic tapas bars and other activities. Despite the continuous rain we were able to get around easily and dud everything on our list. The Alcazar and Cathedral were fabulous and the Plaza de Espana, Bullring tour and Torre del Oro should also not be missed. The artistic walkway, Metropol de Parasol is right by the hotel and is very unusual. We also visited the Museo del Baile Flamenco for an unbelivable flamenco show and had a couple of hours in the underground hammam. All this interspersed with lovely tapas and wine made fir a great four day break.

Enjoyable stay in a great location

Beautiful sumptuous room in boutique hotel. Felt like we were the only guests there.
Only criticism is that our superior double room on 1st floor was inward facing and had no windows so no natural light but the advantage is that there was no noises so we slept very soundly. In fact we woke up disoriented not sure it it was 5am or 10am!
Breakfast is a good spread but at €17 per person I would save the money and enjoy the delights of a local cafe.
The staff were very helpful and check in/out was an unusually lovely experience.

Soundproofed towards street - not between rooms..

Had a great long weekend and the first night was lovely and we said how good the insulation was towards the street as you just couldn't hear anything from the street - nice sleep. However, the Saturday night/ Sunday morning we realised how poorly the insulation between the rooms was - we could hear every step the guest took in the neighbouring room and as they got up at around 4:30 it wasn't great. I am not sure if this was due to our room or if it is a general problem. Also - the staff got in a right fluster on Sunday morning as all guest seem to arrive at the same time and everything run out - seating, plates, bread, juice.. and there is only 9 rooms in the hotel. A couple just refused to pay for breakfast, being so poorly administrated.

The room was ok except for the two very low chairs. The wardrobe was weird. It looked more like a Punch and Judy stage with curtains at the front and a light inside which kept going off every time we passed. Great location in the old town. Staff were very helpful. The decor is wacky. We didn't have the breakfast but it looked pretty good.

Absolute gem

Beautiful boutique hotel in a converted palace with only nine rooms. Room was gorgeous and really felt special, it's clear a lot of effort has gone into refurbishment and decoration. Staff were incredibly warm, friendly, and helpful. Location is great and very central.

The hotel's atmosphere and ambiance is one of luxury, red and gold with a lovely atrium around which the rooms are located.
Quiet area but well located for all the main sites - everything within walking distance. A very relaxing comfortable and welcoming stay.

Gem of a hotel and wonderful staff

The hotel is gorgeous, the staff could not have done more and were lovely. The hotel is ideally located for the Cathedral and the Alcazar, and for restaurants. The breakfast is a bit overpriced and the wi-fi a bit temperamental the lobby wi-fi address is more reliable in the bedroom than the bedroom address. These are small quibbles for a lovely hotel that I would definitely recommend and return to.

Aneneo, a wonderful hotel in Seville.

Not the easiest of hotels to find by car, our sat nav kept trying to take us up taxi and bus only roads and we stopped to ask for directions we were told the Ateneo is impossible to drive to. Eventually we arrived at the back of the hotel, the front is in a pedestrianised square. The staff then took our car and parked it, for around 18 euros a night. The hotel is absolutely beautiful inside, antiques and paintings everywhere, with a water feature in the lobby. We were both stunned when we saw our room, we had been upgraded to a suite, with two bathrooms and a spiral staircase up to the bedroom. There were books and wood paneling everywhere along with a magnificent chandelier. There is a cafe in the square which can be quite busy but noise was not an issue due to double glazing and shutters at the windows. There are only nine bedrooms so breakfast was a quiet affair with a huge spread of fruit, meats etc and cooked items if you require. The staff could not do enough to make our stay enjoyable and everywhere was spotlessly clean. It's around a 15-20 minute walk to the cathedral with lots of shops and cafes on the way. Thank you for the room upgrade for my 60th birthday.
