Check-in was very rude. The front desk person asked for our last name. I spelt it for him, then he demanded for an ID. After he handed us our keys and said this is your room key and walked away. Our room had a piece of gum on the wall right next to the bed. We were staying for a tournament so I expect some noise but it never quited down. You can hear ALL conversations that are coming from hallways. The breakfast was okay. There were spills of juice all over the counters. Thankfully we only stayed one night. I couldn't imagine having to try to get a good nights sleep two nights in a row seeing as we couldn't even get one.

When I checked into the hotel, they told me a hold deposit is required for incidental and it would be refunded within a few days. I didn't get the refund after 4 days and was also charged another deposit. Both charges were already posted to my credit card account within 2 days of my stay instead of in pending status. I called the hotel about the charges and they just told me to wait a few more days. On the 5th day, the charges were still not refunded so I had to call my credit card company to dispute the charges to get them reversed. Avoid this hotel.

The room that we were assigned, 120, was clean and heated appropriately. The breakfast served was comparable to what I might expect at competitor properties. That being said, there weren't any staff mulling around as I normally would see at other properties.
Perhaps my biggest complaint, and this really is a complaint more so than a frustration, was that the hallways and common areas, and especially the entrance area where devoid of any heating. It was so cold, that my other guest and I didn't even want to sit in the breakfast area to eat our breakfast because it was so cold.

Yessss & yessss Stayed in RM 132 had a view from the pool from inside our room !!! The kids loved ittt HEATED POOL AMAZING STAFF Breakfast hot & ready in the morning. Will definitely book again & requesting same room 😁 10/10 no exaggeration

My partner didn't eat as he had an early Dr.s appointment. I had a yogurt and orange juice. One guest was having Waffles. The smell awesome, but we were in a hurry. We would live to stay here again.

I was very disappointed with my stay and would not recommend this hotel at any price point. From the start, check-in was inconvenient, I had to wait for someone to come inside because staff were outside on the other side of the building.

The room itself had several maintenance issues. The door did not properly close and had to be physically pushed shut, which felt unsafe. The mirror in the room was damaged, with a piece missing from the bottom left. There was only one electrical outlet within reach of the beds, which was extremely impractical, and the TV did not work at all.

The hallways were not heated, making it uncomfortable just to walk to and from the room. There were no onsite food options, and even the mini-mart inside the building was locked and unavailable. To make matters worse, the rooms were not soundproof, so noise traveled easily and disrupted rest.

Overall, the lack of basic amenities, poor maintenance, and general inconvenience made this a very unpleasant experience. This stay was absolutely not worth the cost, and I would not return.

If you are staying here for the pool, DONT. We stayed here for 2 nights for an early Christmas gift for kiddos to swim & the pool was like taking an ice bath. They claimed it was heated and it was NOT. Turned purple & shivering after being in the pool for 10 minutes. Staff & management didn’t care nor did they offer a partial refund. No hot water for the shower or bath either. Will NEVER stay here again or recommend to anyone.

I liked that I was able to be picked up at the airport and returned to it in the morning at the time I specified. The concierge was very polite and helpful with my questions.
I would recommend this hotel to all who travel to Des Moines as it is very close to the airport, within 10 minutes.

When I got into my room, I pulled back the covers of the bed to check for cleanliness and found an excessive amount of hair and other dark spots (I.e. possibly bed bug droppings) between the sheets. I grabbed my bags and left the hotel, NEVER to return!!

Reserved king size bed when we arrived we received a 2 bed room. Was told they were out of Kings, isn't that the purpose of a reservation. Hallways were drabby and dark, in spots the hallway carpet is almost black. The room was ok, you can't roll over in your bed with all the squeaking the bed frame makes but the mattresses were very comfortable. We woke to our room being flooded by the leaking refrigerator. Very disappointing stay

Room was good and clean, but the TV wouldn't connect to anything so couldn't watch anything during my stay.
Somebody kept trying to break in the back secure door burning and ripppig the card reader from the place it sets.
The pool was amazing the hotel was beautiful and quiet. I was t a fan of the beds though a little hard for me.

Hotel and room were unclean. Lots of hairs on bedding, poor paint job. It smelled strongly of Indian food, which I like—but I don’t necessarily want to smell it an entire hotel stay. There was garbage piled outside of the garbage can outside the entrance door, a dog barked continuously the entire stay. Everything was in disrepair and it was the grossest hotel I’ve ever stayed at.
The only compliment I have was their shuttle service, they were really prompt.

The airport shuttle was easy, the staff were helpful and the room was clean though spartan and outdated.

BUT, the hallways wreaked of some foul organic odor and the hotel is generally in disrepair.

The supposedly ungraded breakfast was extremely poor and unhealthy. There was no fruit, biscuits were hard as a rock, the gravy was the consistency of playdoh, and everything else was UHP foods. We decided to go somewhere else for breakfast.

Horrible from start to finish. Very dirty rooms, towels(not washed??), shower is only good for people no taller than 4’ 8”, noisy all day and night. AC noise was constant and loud.
I seriously thought the place was abandoned when I first stepped in the lobby. Ghost town to say the least. I’ll take my chances on the street instead.

Floor turned feet black. Worst beds I’ve ever slept in. Flooring was bad by the ac unit. Cut foot on flooring that was loose. Hair dryer wiring was repaired with twist connectors. Pool had debris in it and was ice cold. TVs didn’t work in pool area or the gym. Over as lol cleanliness was terrible in the whole hotel. Would never recommend this hotel.

They will never get my business again!! I killed 2 spiders in the bathroom! There was blood on the sheets! Mold in the vent. Very dirty vents. But they were kind to get us to the airport.
This is not my blood on the shhet.
The spiders were killed too fast for me to photocrsph

Loud music into the night.

This hotel was photographed nicely, but was not as nice as the photos. Our room overlooked the indoor pool, so the lights were on all night and shone under the shades. There must have been some sort of event going on, and we heard loud drumming from 6 pm until midnight. Every beat. I feel like this is something that could have been disclosed to us. Overall I was disappointed in our stay, especially considering how much I spent on it.

We checked in after 10pm. I understand the pool being closed and the restaurant being closed, even limited dining. Sheet metal bed frames bade noise when anyone moved or bumped into them. Are feel and socks got dirty from the floor. Plains at the rear by airport were loud. House keeping came to the room one hour before check out which seemed odd and suggested we should leave early. Room and building looked modern. Over all it was ok with slight inconveniences

Clarion Inn Airport. 5star service & amenities!!

Several families met up in Des Moines to visit the Blank Park Zoo full size, animated dinosaurs exhibit... which was awesome!!! We spent Fri/Sat at the Clarion Inn Airport. From booking to check out our experiences was the best. We were able to get our rooms really close to each other, the pool was sooo nice and the Mexican restaurant on site had a great buffett, food and service 5 star. Out of 12 people in the party there were no complaints on anything. The room was good sized, clean and comfortable. The breakfast had plenty hot and cold food options, was clean with plenty space to really sit down and enjoy an early morning meal. The 2 gentlemen at the front desk were fun and very accommodating! Even letting us gather in the breakfast area for a farewell pizza party later Saturday night rather than having to go to the pool side area that was a little louder or squeezing 12 people into a room to eat (in return we cleaned the area so the breakfast crew wouldn't know we were even there). The motel location was close to the Zoo and Airport. There were plenty good restaurants and shopping establishments within 5-20 mins. I would stay there again and would recommend the Clarion Inn to friends!

I was not aware of how much noise the aircraft made taking off and landing at the airport. I could hear them at 3 to 4 am. The hotel appears to be going through updates, but there was an expose electric box in our bathroom that had wires exposed. Staff was nice. The free breakfast was plentiful but cold. I tried the biscuits and gravy but the gravy was cold. The next day the sausage links I had were cold as well. I wasn't really impressed with it.

Tv is broken. Room lacks outlets. Bathroom has mold and is dirty. Parking lot has trash laying around. Over all this hotel is overpriced and i will not stay here again. Nor will i recommend to family or friends. If i wasn't so tired i would have attempted to check out and find a better place to stay. Will be contacting manager to ask for a refund or some funds back
