It is advertised as a beach front resort. Aside from a handful of rooms, it is anything but that. We were \"upgraded\" to a superior king suite, and ended up at the very back of the resort, near the airport runway (Noisey!), FAR from the beach and across a busy road. Our intent was to book a room near the beach, not what we ended up with.

Not a 5 star hotel...good for those with children

The hotel is dated and due for an upgrade. The room walls are paper-thin so you can hear anyone closing doors throughout the night (our neighbor was in and out, multiple times, past 11pm both nights).

The beachfront was weedy compared to further down the beach given the surrounding landscape creates a relatively still-water 'bay' effect.

We were a bit taken aback when we realized the hotel was advertised as a five star, and \"on the beach\". Our room ended up across the street and far back from the beachfront. We also stay at exclusively five star hotels (not because we're pretentious, but because value-for-money here, specifically, is great)...this hotel doesn't even come close to those other experiences.

Pros: -the staff were great, polite and respectful.
Cons: -Can hear everything between rooms.
-Room felt damp, dark/dingy, and desperately in need of a deep cleaning.
-Lots of chaos at breakfast with kids crawling all over the place.
-Beach was weedy, with boats tied off just off shore.

Overall, if this was advertised as a three-year hotel, I would rate it well...The hotel is cost effective, and if you have children it could be a great option. However, if you are a couple, and expecting a five-star experience, I would not recommend this option.

We had a beautiful stay! The staff and facilities were fantastic and the location is great, a quieter, lovely part of the beach but only a short walk to all the action in Chaweng. We also went on a snorkeling tour organised through the hotel which was brilliant.

The hotel itself was great, the amenities and common areas including the pool, the lawn, the beach area, lobby, everything is wonderful. But the room (despite the great balcony overlooking the pool) leaves a bit to boot to be desired. The layout was a little bit strange but the main concern was that there’s mold on the AC vent and also on the curtains that lead to the balcony. It’s understandably very humid and hot inside and inside the room is very cold and this leads to mold but I think the hotel should be taking better steps to account for this or change the curtains more frequently and more frequently device the AC vents. It’s a short stay whether you’re there for a couple days or a week so it’s not a HUGE deal but no one likes mold and it makes the room feel dirty.

We had originally booked a Superior King room - Garden Wing. The room was on the 3rd floor with access by stairs only, the WiFi was poor & the room was accross a busy road to the main part of the hotel. We were then upgraded free of charge to a room in the Thai Village wing which was closer to the beachside of the hotel. This room was amazing & definitely 5 star.

This hotel was right on the beach and less than 5 mins walk into the main bars and restaurants. It had a 7/11 shop 2 mins away. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Pools and rooms were great. Would definitely recommend it.

Having stayed in 3 5tar hotels on the island , this hotel would rate at 2-3stars , i would avoid it
The room floor was sticky, the bathroom sink kept leaking underneath, room was full of mosquitios, the fire alarm in room went off at 1am, 2am and 3.30am, they dod not offer to move us till last one went off , during this time it was loud siren in the room. The doors all slam, so all night when people are going in and out of rooms, its just loud slamming noises.

Everything was great about this hotel. When I checked in they took me too my room. It was raining so I turned on the TV. There was no sound from the TV. I called and Maintenance came to take a look. They couldn't fix it. Within 10 minutes they installed a different TV, now that to me is going above and beyond. The staff is incredibly friendly.

We enjoyed our stay at Amari. The pools were great, the breakfast was amazing ( it was almost like a dinner with the variety) The staff were pleasant. The only thing that was not as we had hoped was the beach. In front of the hotel, there is a lot of algae and is very shallow. However, if you walk 10 minutes down the beach, it is gorgeous. As long as you are OK to take a little walk, you will find a stunning, clear beach.

The positives were sadly out weighed by the negatives. The views around the main pool were great, the room was spacious, staff were lovely and the breakfast was good.
Sadly the hotel was not good value. The room was tired and grubby. We had to get housekeeping to sweep the floor when we arrived and there were dirty marks on the furnishings and furniture and rubbish down the street de of the bed. It lacked attention to detail. The irony of being advised that were couldn’t use the pool outside of our room for an afternoon while they held a private function to officially open the pool was not lost on us. Overall an overpriced hotel which could do better.

The room was outdated and very far from the entrance.

Some bathroom fitting didn't work and the Basin needed to be unplugged. This should have been done before we were given the room.

The third bed was short and not suitable for teenager or young adult.

Our stay at Amari was fantastic! The family deluxe room was perfect for our family of four, especially with the kids having their own comfy beds on a higher level. The spacious bathroom had everything we needed, and the complimentary water bottles every day were a nice touch. The resort is impeccably clean and well-kept, and the breakfast spread was impressive. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, especially to the kids. The only downside was the lack of dustbins around the resort, which was a bit inconvenient. Despite that, we'd definitely return here for another enjoyable stay!

It’s a nice resort. It claims to be 5 star but I think probably 4. Neat and tidy just a little tired such as the bathroom. Friendly staff and helpful. Wide variety at breakfast. I didn’t eat in the main hotel but in their Italian restaurant. I was looking forward to the meal however was disappointed with the frozen calamari and overdone pasta. Being so close to the sea, if I were the chef, I would be showing off fresh calamari. But apart from that, a very nice stay. Beautiful people.

Covid has been particularly tough for Thailand. A lot of the people from far North Thailand etc had to go home when the hotel(s) shut down, so when Thailand re-opened for tourism, a lot of these people had found alternative work and were happy to remain home.

The Amari is in a period of training and having to find more staff when they are at Optimum capacity.

I commend all the work that the Managers are doing to ensure the staff are supported and are receiving training as required.

Nevertheless, I was well looked after and enjoyed being a VIP for 2 weeks

To Wee and all the staff, thank you very much for looking after and listening to me.

I will see you again for 2 weeks in September 2023

I would not recommend staying at this hotel. This hotel & resort was by far the worst out of any of the 5 star hotels we stayed at. We stayed in the junior suite, ocean view, this was the most expensive of our two weeks Thailand vacation, having stayed at two other 5 Star Hotels. We stayed 4 nights o paying almost CA $600 per night (15,000 baht per night). The training for the room cleaning & stock was awful because each time there was something the staff forgot to stock. The staff themselves were very helpful & nice. A 5 star should have a consistent checklist. Also upon check in or introduction to out room, there was no mention of what was included. There was a complimentary beach bag, welcome plate that we should have been told was included. Our room had a wet & mouldy smell that was very unpleasant, the staff at the front desk were exceptional in sending someone to fix it, but my husband had to ask for air conditioning service twice to get this resolved. Even though it’s an older hotel, I didn’t expect it to be so run down. I expect Better maintenance & upkeep for the bathroom sink, tiles & grout. It’s very kid friendly with children all very the place, especially at the breakfast buffet, getting their food on their own. I would not recommend staying at this hotel for the price the hotel charges, I found it a 4 star experience, paying 5 stars price. Except the staff were friendly & helpful, I attribute the overall poor hotel experience to management & the owners.

On our previous stay, during the same trip, we were disappointed that the main, beachfront pool was closed. This pool was now open, which totally changed (massive improvement) our view of the property. We also had a good experience at breakfast where, as vegans, we found a good range of options, which was not our experience at other hotels in the region. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. Definitely plan a return if we come to Koh Samui again.

When we arrived, we learned that the main pool overlooking the beach was closed for renovation, which was a little disappointing and made the walk down the beach a bit odd as you had to walk through the restaurant. We were told that we were going to get a room upgrade as a result, but I’m not convinced that we got more than we had already booked and our room was directly adjacent to the busy Chaweng road.

We’ve stayed here before, so hopefully this was a blip. On the positive side, the room was nice and very clean, the grounds are well kept and the staff in the breakfast room were very friendly. When the main pool reopened, it looked good.

Very dirty!! This hotel must have been nice back in the days but now is just a decaying hotel that is no longer a 5 star hotel. The room was dirty and dusty. My son had an asthma crises. I saw the housekeeping washing a glass in the bathroom and coming out with the glass \"washed and dried\". She didn't have a sponge or towel so she must have washed with her hands and dried with the dirty towels that we used and left it on the floor. They don't mop the floor, just wipe with a broom where is obvious dirty but not the entire floor. And they definitely don't wait 24 hours to put the next guest in the room, as they are supposed to, to avoid Covid.

Upon arrival, first visual impressions were great. Light and airy entrance. Due to having gold status I was hoping for early checkin, unfortunately this was not available. At 2pm I went to my room, which was lovely and spacious, ground floor and pool facing.
On closer glance the room could have been a little cleaner, dust on floor and quite a few flying insects as though the door had been left open. Wonderfully comfy beds, with super soft bedcovers. Selection of food at breakfast was plentiful.
Unfortunately it was very rainy during my stay, but sun loungers were not covered meaning when the rain did stop, the mattresses were soaked.

I ate at both restaurants, staff were very attentive and a great wine list available.

Mostly a very positive stay, just a few finishing touches to be improved.

Excellent stay at the Amari. The recent lack of business was showing in terms of many nearby markets being shut. However the hotel staff did everything possible to make our stay comfortable and luxurious.

The ground floor Ocean View suite could have been better in terms of the view of the ocean (many trees obstruct the actual view). Perhaps the first floor suites have a better view. But amazing facility all in all, with an amazing swimming pool right next to the white sand beach. The beach access is excellent and the sea is not rough - good for families with young kids.

Really nice Hotel, stayed in Thai Village area - very nice, pretty and private. Accommodation was individual Cottages with seperate upstairs/downstairs Accommodation with patio/balcony. Greatly impressed by its facilities when checking in, and its overall encounters were good for the staff's warm welcoming. There were wide choice of food for the breakfast buffet.
The two swimming pools on both sides of the hotel were highlights, and the gardens were beautiful.
The room service can be said as satisfying, as the cleanliness of the room is at a high standard. However, on the 2nd day, when ciming back around 3:30pm, the room hadn't been tidied up. I understand that there is a schedule for each hotel, but it didn't meet traveller's expectations at such a grand hotel.
In the third morning, I casually dropped too much toilet papers into the flush toilet. After having my breakfast, I notified the staff at the counter and mentioned that I could not use the toilet (though I had finished usingit and was ready to go out), hoping that acion would be immediately taken. When I was back to my room around 1pm, I was surprised that nothing had been done. Coincidentally, the housekeeper came to my room, but she didn't know about the situation. And I thanked her for helping me solve the problem within a short period of time and for being polite and nice. However, my early notification to the staff seemed unheard or unrecognized.
I give a full account of the incidents simply in the hope of seeing ongoing improvement made by the hotel, and I am sure they can do it.

I went to Amari with my family for NYE, and the hotel is located in one of the best place on the island.
Staff don't speak english, its very hard to communicate with them (specially in the restaurant).

Great place...great location...very close to everything chewang beach has to offer....👍...can be had for much cheaper during offseason...i highly recommend.
