Great location for Chaweng / fabulous staff

Amazing friendly staff. Great location for Chaweng (not my vibe; too many clubs and over-priced tourist traps) near the mall and right on the main drag. Pool and beach had loungers and towels and service for coffee and cocktails. Room was large, perfectly clean and serviced everyday. My only complaint is the water doesn't get hot and the sink pressure was but a dribble. Could use some updating but no complaints for the price!

Not a bad place. A bit tired and scruffy though. Staff are perfect. Lots of building work going on at the time I was there. I did book the cheapest room and you could tell. Old, damaged furniture and generally tired. But it wasn’t expensive. I wouldn’t go again but it wasn’t horrible.

The access to the sea was most convenient.
Don't forget your sandles, the paths can get very hot! The pools and surroundings are very nice. The planting of plants and trees gives a homely feel.

Location is great, overall condition of resort is aged. Some sections are revamped and chalets around pool area are dark furnished and aged. Pool is undersized for room capacity and pool music could be turned down a few notches so people can talk normally. Overall ok but definitely far from great. Million dollar question, would we return, sadly no.

Very good location - right in the middle of chaweng (a two minute walk to quality bars/restaurants, shopping, entertainment, etc), and at the same time located on the beach - can easily walk barefoot onto the middle of chaweng beach. My room was fifteen metres from the sand.
Good value for money.
The real downside, the compromise, is that it’s not the best in terms of fixtures and fittings, decoration and cleanliness, and the surrounding site is in parts detelict. But they do seem to be working on and improving the property and the staff are always very helpful. So overall it’s a compromise I’ve been happy to make and shall stay again.

If wanting a cheap and safe Chaweng stay with a beachside resort resturant and infinity pool with a bar, cheap as awesome beachside massage, views and swimming beach then Al's might be a good choice. Location in Chaweng is smack bang in the middle of where action lovers want to be...100m down beach from Ark Bar meaning you can enjoy watching their nightly fire displays but you wouldn't want to be closer if not wanting to hear \"dub dub dub \" music till 2am ! Thai Boxing stadiums 10 min easy stroll. Samui Central walking mall & Chaweng awesome market hardly a 5 min stroll. The Hotel is aged and tired but for the value of a Garden Queen room it's way better than what the same price gets you in my country.. New Zealand. Like any Thai resort the staff are beautiful. Those who like value or backpacking need to check this place out especially if looking for location location of Chaweng.

Didn’t like warm beer,small bar,poor food in restaurant and the rooms need seriously updating,we paid over £1000 for a beach room supposed to have internet and tv but it didn’t,the front door was falling apart,the bed was saggy but big,the rail around the balcony was falling down and patio door don’t lock,needs money spending to bring upto standards,says 3 star but more like a 1 star accommodation.

The swimming pools are nice also.
The surrounding area is good with plenty to see and restaurants etc however Chaweng is on the decline along with most resorts I’ve visited over the years in Thailand.

This property is in a good location to walk to shopping and restaurants. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our room itself was quite old and not very clean. The bed was so hard that it made it difficult to sleep. We really enjoyed the beach access however, it is steps from the beach and the pool has a beautiful view.

You get what you pay for

I booked als resort for 2 adults and 1 child then called Expedia to put a note on requesting an infants cot as I was bringing our toddler as well as our son and it stated on the website that infant cots were free. I also messaged als resort to advise there were be an additional toddler travelling on top of the 2 adults and 1 child.
Upon arrival they said that yes the toddler was free but although the booking was for 2 adults and 1 child that was just the charge for 2 adults and that I infact had to pay them an additional 8000 thai baht for my son. I told them I booked 2 adults and a child so I was not paying again. I told them I wanted a refund. Eventually they reluctantly agreed that they would not charge me but I would have to pay 300 baht a day for his breakfast even though I had paid for 2 adults and a child bed and breakfast. Upon inspection of the room I nearly cried. It was filthy, thick layers of dust. What I could only describe as prison issue bath robes. The cupboard doors were hanging off. No tea and coffee facilities as advertised well unless you class a broken kettle and one cup as facilities. We were provided with 2 towels for a family. The shower was only one temperature which was hot so my toddler could not even use it. 3-4 coat hangers so we lived out of our cases. Next doors room service plates left outside for days.

No working safe or tv and breakfast was horrendous.

Good location but only if your happy to rough it!

Beautiful cottages and rooms in central Chaweng

I have stayed here multiple times. Beautiful landscaping and pools. Rooms are very comfortable and clean. Bathroom floor in the cottages needs an upgrade.
Sweet location right in the middle of the Chaweng shopping road and the beach.
Restaurant is too expensive in my opinion but I like 70B beers and 50B pad Thai too...

Great locaion with basic service.

The room type I booked is just so so, basic, with bad noice isolation between rooms. Will try the villa room next time, which should be better and closer to the pool.
The location of the hotel is GREAT! Beach right in front, lots of great shops and resturants around. Big shopping mall just across the street with supermarket so you can get anything you need there, and can enjoy movie there as well!
Staffs are friendly and helpful, breakfast is ok as well.

Nice hotel -- but staff ripped us off.

We stayed at Al's for 2 nights. The pool area right on the ocean was by far the nicest I had seen in Thailand. Lots of chairs and they even had floaty's in the pool for guests. I asked the front desk how much the laundry service was and they told me 25 baht or 50 baht for express. Every where else it is about 50 baht for one KG of clothing -- so I got the express laundry service at our hotel. When we went to check out, I find out that they failed to tell me it was 50 baht per clothing item! They charged me over 800 baht to wash a couple pieces of clothing. I couldn't believe that they would rip their guests off that badly for a laundry service. So i guess if you stay here -- do NOT get your clothes washed here OR eat any of the little packages of peanuts they leave on your bed (they will charge you).

It was in a great location in Chaweng. Close to shops but far enough to not to hear the main busy street. It's right along the beach which is always a plus! Ask for a room far from the restaurant because it can make your room smelly. Be ready with bug spray. Our room had tons of mosquitos. They said it rained a lot before we arrived so that's why. If you stay closer to the beach, the ocean breeze blows them away. Room was a little outdated but big enough for two. Bed was very hard so be prepared for that! bathroom was odd. There's no separation of shower to toilet so after showers get a little messy. Other than that, decent hotel to stay in. Front desk were very helpful with our tourist questions. Another plus is hotel is close to cheap massages! A must! They even have a massage section on the beach with the hotel.

Great location, right on the beach with a pool. Cushioned sunbeds on beach. Large clean rooms with comfy bed, air con, cable TV and fridge. Luggage store available after check out.
Just off the main road with lots of bars and restaurants.
Didn't eat at hotel, but used beach bar - soft drinks quite expensive in comparison to other places, but good happy hour(s) offers for beer and cocktails.

Great place and value, far from everything

The place is a great value for what you get. It's very quiet, peaceful, clean, great facilities but there's not much around. There's a convenience store that's open 24 hours. The restaurant was slow/awful/overpriced. They made me wait an hour before I had to ask what the issue was. There was a problem with the oven. I was spending $20+ a day on taxis getting to the more popular parts of the island.

Hotel served a purpose as a base to travel around Samui. A little tired in appearance could do with some renovation work. Plenty of choice at breakfast although the staff more interested in their phones than resetting tables etc. Excellent beach with waterspout facilities and very short walk into main town area. The resort was in a great location. On one end was the beach and on the other, nightlife, eater etc. Only hassle is that the main road is a one way, so if you hire a scooter you have to do a whole round the block to get back to the hotel. Everything was walking distance which was great and there is a convenience store right at the door step. Breakfast was buffet but wasn't amazing. It was pretty average, bacon, egg, fried rice and sausages. We ordered room service twice and both times they were incorrect so we just gave up on it.

Gross, very touristy area of Thailand. The town had a problem with its sewage so the whole place smelled like raw sewage. I would look to stay in a different part of the island. To the credit of the hotel, it is decent value for the price, you are on the beach and is also close to airport, but again, I would look to other parts of the island.

The resort is located in the heart of Chewang. Near to the main street and Ark Bar. Its personal beach setup is great. They set up special dinner tables on the beach for its guest and its a really something. Staff is friendly . The most convenient part is that it has a super market in its vicinity which makes buying food n drinks and other stuff easy ..
Not very expensive. On the whole good hotel to stay .. Thumbs up.

It was such great value and I loved its killer location. It attracted friendly people staying there . Breakfast was great and buffet. Was far enough away from action to b quiet at nite.
Unfortunately there is no longer a massage hut, I was looking forward to being massaged by the beach, & getting my nails done. They need to remove pictures of massage hut from website and brochures.
But it really is a fantastic and highly recommended place to stay

Great hotel for anyone.

When we arrived it appeared that the hotel had not received our booking from expedia, but still gave us the keys and said they would resolve which they did immediately.
My bed was perfect and soft, however my step sons bed was hard and when we asked to change they did so without hesitation. I think because it was low season they gave us a choice of about 5 different rooms to go and pick which one we wanted.
The air con in all rooms was excellent, and the maid service was superb.
We didn't eat at the hotel as they is no need as there is plenty of chioce and variety only a 5 min walk away.
The pool and bar were well kept and we spent at lot of time here and would recommend this to anyone.
Overall a good stay and I would definately stay here again. Lets be clear it is 3 star, and not 5 star. As a 3 Star this is value for money.

We have stayed at may hotels in koh samui and this was by far the worst one. The rooms are not clean and the food is horrible!
The only good thing about this hotel is it is perfect location, now this being said because of the location a lot of young people partying being loud are staying at this hotel.

Very dissapointing experience

I was really looking forward to staying at Al's Resort, the pictures were nice, the location is right in the middle of Chaweng and the cost was reasonable.. however when we arrived it was a different story, there was no smile or friendly reception from the front desk and our introduction was cold with no personality. We were then taken to our room \"I had opted to spend more on that just the basic room for a nicer stay\" but when we entered the room it was hot and uncomfortable, the aircon was barely adequate to cool the room and was noisy to the point that it kept us awake at night. on the first night we had to close off the door to the bath room just so that we could cool our room down, this meant shower and toilet times were uncomfortable. Our \"luxury villa\" had one power point and one mirror which were in different rooms so my girlfriend struggled to do her hair everyday. In our room we found cockroaches, some dead, some alive.. and house keeping would often forget things like toilet paper, tissues, towels, and basic cleaning like wiping the mirror. The breakfast buffet was average at best and the baked good were often stale, the sausages seemed like they had been sitting in the tray overnight and the \"juices\" were always low and were actually just cordial. The only upside was the bar staff at the pool, they were entertaining and welcoming and would do well to find a better resort to work for. Overall a thoroughly disappointing experience, recommend finding somewhere else

Établissement vieillissant mais la chambre reste correcte. Le problème en fait c'est que nous soyons en vis a vis avec les chambres d'en face, avec obligation de fermer les rideaux pour un peu d'intimité.
