Location was good. Cleanliness needed improvement. I had to change rooms because the rug smelled like urine and it ruined my boots. Hospitality was adequate, not overly warm. Hotel decor is dated and is in need of a refresh.

Issues hotel only is a relatively small hotel so it seemed understaffed. I sent an email via the Expedia app and never received a response. Tried regular customer email and got a nonsensical email, it’s possible that the staff member who responded didn’t understand because English is not her first language.

The biggest issue is I placed a sign on my hotel room door for no housekeeping services but I could tell some entered my room without my permission (or to a certain extent). The room was partially cleaned like trash roomed and now towels are hanging on the wall. Bed wasn’t made and no new toilet paper rolls. If the staff member was not going to follow directions to not clean then I expect them not to enter my room. If staff member is going to enter then cleaning correctly is expected.

I don’t know if this is a cultural issue but I never had this type of experience in all my travels.

The hotel was in an excellent position and the staff were very friendly and helpful with providing local information. The room itself was a bit dark with the curtains open perhaps due to the small window but mainly due to the dark grey decor which was a little tired in places. The double sliding mirror doors to the bathroom was quirky but not ideal for me ,however 10/10 for the rain shower which was perfect in my opinion. As said great location and particularly if you like the local friendly bars and some good craft beer. A few minutes walk from the Ubahn and the busy centre for a true Vienna experience.

We arrived at this destination by taxi. Apparently in the afternoon/evening you cannot access the plaza in front by car. I wish somebody had told me this before we arrived with several suitcases in the late afternoon. I walked around the corner and found reception. They do not have anybody to help with the luggage. The plaza seems quaint and quiet but it turns into a bustling night spot for young people in the evening. If you’re looking for pubs and excitement and a youthful crowd, this might be a great choice of a hotel for you.

We were very nicely greeted by reception. Our first room did not smell good and was right next to the elevator on the second floor, so I requested a change. We switched to a room on the third floor. The room was very small, but clean. There was very little room around the bed. The bathroom was fine, small but clean.One amenity I wish it had was hair conditioner.

For breakfast, they charge 30 a person. It is very easy to go around the corner and get your own breakfast at a shop for less.

The hotel is in a convenient location for taking a stroll by the water or going to Stephensplatz.

With so many hotel options in Vienna, I do not believe this one has the amenities to be iworth the price.

nice hotel exceptional positon with some flaws

Nice hotel in exceptional location. Polite staff, very clean, sometimes a bit noisy from the crowd in the bars outdoor but nothing really annoying.
What I found annoying though is there are no chairs with backrest in the room! It's very uncomfortable if you have to work or use your laptop for more than 10 minutes. The armchair is also awkward to sit on (kind of inclined), I would not recommend the hotel for an extended business trip.

We stayed at Mercure Vienna First 8 years ago and chose it for the same reasons again, and we were NOT DISAPPOINTED. We chose the breakfast included and everyday the staff was friendly, at the breakfast buffet, the front hotel staff, and house keeping. We appreciated their conversations about our day, and the hotel is in a great location to shops, restaurants, transportation and easily walkable to all that Vienna has to offer. We love this hotel and if we return to Vienna we will certainly stay here again.

Staff was great, especially the young woman that checked us in and worked the evening shift.

We were \"upgraded\" to a room since we signed up for your
frequent stays. However the room overlooked the bar row and since the rooms a/c wasn't working well, we tried to open the windows BUT way too noisy so it was tough to get a good nights sleep even with the windows closed.

Hotel was very clean though and all the staff was great from front desk, to housekeeping, to wait staff. Thanks

Lovely staff in a well kept hotel. Beds were comfortable enough , great showers. Rooms themselves were very dark. The onsite hotel was nice for dinner, we never did the breakfasts because of the proce. It is within a 10 minute walk of Stephansplatz. The hotel is situated on a knoll and 2 out of 3 ways to get there include climbing a flight or 2 of stairs.

The location is really great and overall the staff was friendly. The property is clean however our shower drain was very plugged. We informed the hotel and it was still plugged. Additionally, I think amongst the customer service team there should be better communication. The associate that checked us in offered late check out as I joined their loyalty program. However on the day of check out, another associate told us that we were late checking out and there were no notes at all regarding our late check out. She eventually allowed us to, but my impression of the customer service due to this definitely decreased in satisfaction.

Very happy with our week stay at Mercure Vienna First. Reception was friendly, competent and helpful. Our room was comfortable, clean and well-equipped. Breakfast was great with a wide selection of hot and cold options - fuel for a full day. Location was excellent in a quiet, pedestrianised area - just a few minutes walk from the historic old centre and also the bus/tram/metro services to many other venues. Definitely recommended.

We loved the room and the room cleanliness and staff. We did have an issue with the breakfast. It is customary for buffet style to have unlimited access to food and drinks. Somehow the staff brings your coffee here and only after your request. It takes them time and sometimes they even forget (e.g., if you ask for a “specialty drink” such an espresso). The breakfast staff seems disorganized. The setup including the lack of unlimited access to coffee makes one feel uncomfortable (e.g, if you want to ask for a second coffee) and likely to leave prematurely. We moved to this hotel from another one that did not have A/C. The breakfast at the first place was excellent. Everything at Mercure was excellent except for breakfast which I would describe as mediocre.

So much to see in Vienna.

Our stay in Vienna was short but sweet. A beautiful city with many glorious buildings. The people were friendly and no issues with language as they all seem to speak English. The hotel is central to the city with many cafes, bars and restaurants within easy walking distance of the hotel. The only issue is that the car park for the hotel is about 150yds away. Give it a go!

I have stayed in Vienna First every time I have visited the city. It is a delightful hotel in a great location, convenient got discovering the city. The staff are professional but, just as important, welcoming and friendly. When returning to the hotel - at any time of day - always feel as if I'm coming home. The rooms I have stayed in are very comfortable - and it has always been possible to get a twin bedded room when necessary. Highly recommended.

The hotel is great. Lovely little touches like the waltz carpet. Our room was very clean and made good use of space. The only downside was that we wouldn’t work out how to turn the heat down (the aircon control didn’t make any difference) so it was very hot in the room.

This was an good hotel for the price. We've got a top floor room with only a skylight, with no view to talk about. The room was rather small and it was very hot (mid-January), so it was hard to sleep without opening the skylight. As a result we could hear some apparently drunk people yelling in the street all night. The location is excellent, and the staff is very friendly and attentive. However, the overall comfort level was only OK. But again, you cannot hope for much more considering the price.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this hotel. There are some bars on a side street by the hotel where loud people spill onto the street late at night. The hotel is small and well designed. The beds were comfortable enough but not fantastic. A top sheet on the bed would be nice because the duvets are hot to sleep with. The shower width is a little tight even if you're small. The front desk staff are very friendly and helpful. The onsite restaurant looks nice but we didn't use it. Hotel is well located for everything and close to the Swedenplatz subway stop.
We would stay here again.

This was a great hotel located on one of the squares in Vienna. The location itself has a lot of nearby bars and pubs just outside the hotel, and is located minutes away from the main shopping strips in Vienna. The staff were friendly, the room was large and clean, the beds comfortable and the linen clean. The bathroom was clean but be warned the shower is very small. Service was great on check in, check out and throughout the stay. Restaurant with a nice menu onsite if you want a meal. Would stay here again any time.

The room was very comfortable. The location was good and the breakfast was consistent and excellent. Good room for a rather short stay of 4 nights although somewhat small but typical and expected in Europe. Bed was fine. Partially enclosed shower required care to not flood floor. The local tour provided by the hotel was appreciated. Also appreciated was the availability of refreshments for purchase in the lobby.

Great location for everything you want in Vienna

This is a chain hotel in Vienna that really knows what they are doing. Our room was stylish, clean and comfortable and the service was excellent. The location of this particular hotel is perfect for people who may be traveling by train - easy walk to/from the station. The restaurant options around the hotel are excellent and it's a brief walk to all the attractions in Vienna.

This hotel is a little gem! Big, spacious comfy room + bathroom, tucked away on a quiet plaza, yet a 5 minute walk from St Stephen’s Cathedral. Too bad there was no fitness room. Breakfast is overpriced (20 euros per person). Everything else was just great.
