Ideal area to be in 5 mins walk from the station , one line to where ever I needed to be . It’s a business hotel , a little different to the Apa Urban Hotel previously. But as a base it was perfect for the week. The staff didn’t speak much English but together with translate and my broken Japanese we got through the week with no issues. Staff were attentive and helpful and breakfast was good for charging up for a long day ahead. Amenities were plentiful and they had a washing area for clothes that came in very handy. If I decide to back to Osaka I will choose to stay there again.

I have stayed in many hotels during this trip, and out of them all, this was the dirtiest. There were cobwebs on the walls, hair in the bathroom, semen stains on the bed-covers, dirt on the floor. But the bed was made, so clearly the room had been prepared. It’s also an old, rickety building that smelled of cigarettes even in the non smoking rooms. There were also lipstick marks on the outside of the window, as well as what I think were butt-marks based on the shape and height of them. There was no balcony, so I’m not sure how those happened.

All in all, this was not a pleasant place to stay. The staff were friendly, no problem with the people, I think there just wasn’t much care put into cleaning or maintaining the rooms.

Situated near the Shin Osaka near the Hankyu Kyoto Line and the Osaka Subway Midosuji Line, the Shin Osaka Sunny Stone Hotel is a bit of a relic from Heisei 1, but the staff are excellent. Some of them speak English, or at least understand it. The level of service is very good, and there were no issues during my stay.

A special stand out, in 3 previous business hotels in Japan, I have never had a dryer that fully dried my clothes. No issues here! Well done.

The soundproofing between the walls was fantastic, and a far cry from newer constructed business hotels. The bathroom is a standard module that has been used for decades with a smaller than usual bath by western standards. The water pressure was excellent as well as the water temperature.

I would recommend this hotel as a step back in time and for the location alone. Many small restaurants in the area as well.

Maybe because I couldn't find my directions, it is a bit of a walk from Shin Osaka station. Since my tour gathered at 7 am at Shin-Osaka station, I needed to start walking from my hotel before 6:30am to ensure I find the right place to embark. But the price of the hotel is really affordable. The inside of the room is way more clean and comfortable than I thought. Thank you for keeping the room so comfortable.

The building is slightly outdated. No Ac in winter, no heat in summer. It’s not possible to adjust the room temp to whatever you’d like. Staff was friendly and helpful but struggled with English. On my floor there was a smoking side hallway and and non-smoking. Smoke could still be smelled in the non-smoking hallway although not the actual room. Shower drain didn’t evacuate water fast enough during the shower so there was constantly about 4 inches of water in the tub while showering.

Location is awesome, Right in the middle of Shin-Osaka Station (10 minute walk, For Shinkansen/JR Lines), Nishinakajima-Minamigata station (3 minute walk, Midosuji line, Straight to Namba Station) and Minamikata station (3 minute walk, Hankyu Kyoto Line).

Recommended and will definitely be returning the next time I visit Osaka. Thank you!

I had a single room perfect for my weekend trip in Osaka. There were 2 convienece stores from the metro station to the hotel and another right around the corner. There were two metrk lines nearby- both about 5-10 minute walk.
The room was clean. The bed was firm. There was a water pitcher filled with ice and water. The ice was still there when I left two days later- really good pitcher. The bathroom has shampoo, conditioner, body wash, a toothbrush, a small tube of toothpaste (about an inch or 3 cm long), a comb, and a shaver. There was also a hairdryer.
I visited in mid October. The room had a humidifer. But I did not use it. The temperature was 65-70F (18-21C) outside. The control for the AC is on the headboard of the bed.

Great Location For Travel Around Kansai Area

This was my third time choosing Shin Osaka Sunny Stone Hotel and I would strongly recommend to anyone who is travelling to Japan and will be visiting locations in Kansai area or other parts of Japan. You will be less than 5 minutes walk from the Midosuji subway line (covering all the major spots in Osaka) and only one stop from Shin Osaka station (where you will have to go through to access Tokyo, Hiroshima, Miyajima, Kyoto, Himeji etc). It is the perfect location for anyone looking to travel in Japan while using Osaka as a \"base\".

The hotel staff are very friendly and helpful and the facilitates and price are great for people looking to get out and about to do a lot of sightseeing and then get a good sleep in before doing the same again the next day. Lots of good places to grab a quick bite or a drink nearby. At least 4 convenience stores within 2 minutes of the hotel.

Also close to Minamikata Hankyu station if you are looking for a convenient and cheaper way to get to Kyoto.

Overall, a good hotel at a convenient location.

My overall experience with this hotel was good because of the price and location. However, my room, 701, is not a room I would recommend staying in. It is located next to the cleaning crew's closet and the noise from them is continuous. The walls are thin, so you can clearly hear what goes on in the hallway.

Great Location for travel around Kansai

This hotel is perfect if you are intending to travel from Osaka to Kyoto, Hiroshima, Tokyo etc due to the very close proximity to Nishinakajima-minamigata station and Shin Osaka station. The room has more than enough space and the facilities at the hotel are great too. The hotel is pretty old, but clean, and either I could not find the air con remote or there just isn't one, but I could not control the temperature of my room. It is apparently a hotel for drunk Japanese salarymen too. The hotel rooms don't have good sound isolation. I could heard my neighbors from upstairs and beside. it is however good for being near to a JR station.

overall a nice clean hotel with nice staff who were generally helpful, local shops within minutes of the hotel to buy breakfast on the way out. the only thing that put us off our stay was the heat in the rooms, when we arrived, the room was so hot it was unbelievable. Turning on the air conditioning made it warmer and there were no controls. the staff told me that the AC was set to heat during the winter and spring months and that if we wanted it cooler we have to open the window (only a few centimetres until the lock engaged....

The hotel was in a quite neighbourhood and about 6 minutes away from the subway station. The room and the bathroom was very squashed for 3 people (we have a 1.5 old) but provides everything it should have. We paid a high price for this small economy room, but actually got nothing to complain for since it was the last room at hot sakura season. Would stay again if I travel alone.

Walking from JR Shin Osaka Station can take approx. 15 to 20 minutes. If you catch the subway/metro line it is only about 3 to 5 minutes walk. The hotel was cheap and good enough to sleep in, after all that is all you really need these places for - Sleep and getting ready to head out.

As above it is a little far from the JR line but for Y180 you can get yourself to Osaka or Shin-Osaka JR stations so if you don't want to walk there is an option there for you.

Without being too negative, apart from the price this place doesn't have too much else to offer, location wise I am certain there are more convenient locations. Unless we missed a whole side of Osaka there wasn't much to do close to the hotel.

I am used to small hotel rooms in Japan, however this was the smallest I have stayed in so far. The room was booked for 2 x people (semi double) and the bed was simply not big enough for two humans and the mattress was extremely hard. Two days in this hotel and my back was in constant pain. The hotel was close to the train station and 2 x good supermarkets. We found a much better alternative when we returned to Osaka at almost the same price.

Room was small but I guess it's normal in Japan. Room is very clean with very polite staff. I noticed that people in Osaka speak less English, but they will help you a lot (they will help you at the best that they can do). Facilities are OK. If you need to wash clothes, there is a coin-operated washing machine and dryer (ask the staff for the location). Location is 3 blocks away from the Midosuji line NishiNakaJimaMinamiGata (1 minute away from Shin-Osaka station on train and probably 10 minutes away on foot)

Had an enjoyable stay here 3 years ago so decided to book it again this year. Unfortunately the management seemed to had changed and the state of the hotel has deteriorated considerably since. The new staff was quite unfriendly and never once smiled. The place was rather aged and smelled of smoke. During our previous booking (at the same price) it included a complementary breakfast and was one of the reasons why we returned, but we were surprised on arrival that this wasn't the case anymore. The rooms we were given were also very cramped even by business hotel standards (there is not enough space to open one large luggage in a single room). Ended up being an unpleasant stay and we made the mistake of booking 3 rooms for 8 days. Would not recommend the hotel. You can get much better choices for the same price in Osaka.

Sunny Stone Shin-Osaka

This hotel is great because it's quiet, located very close to a local train station (about 6-8 stops from Shinsaibashi, and is one stop away from Shin-Osaka), offers free wifi (albeit a bit spotty) and most importantly, is very clean. I've stayed here many times over the years for work and pleasure and I'm consistently pleased with the service by the hotel staff. Highly recommended.

Another great stay!

This was our second visit to the Sunny Stone Hotel Osaka, with our first visit being in March 2013.

We booked the hotel for 8 nights in a double no smoking room. The room is pretty typical for a hotel room in Japan but the key difference was the price. We paid about 35 a night for 2 of us. A similar hotel in Kyoto would be double this price. The staff were very helpful at the hotel and the WiFi worked really well and was great way to stay in touch with family while we we're away.

The main reason we chose this hotel again was the convience as it was only a ten minute walk away from a the bullet and local train station and a 5 minute walk from the subway. From here we were able to travel to Kobe, Central Osaka, Kyoto, Nagoya, Hiroshima, Nagoya and Atami. A tip I would give to anyone who has luggage going to the hotel would be to use the central exit where there are escalators and lifts to use. Otherwise, the central or west exit can be used to reach the hotel.

The only disadvantage we found was that as the hotel was in the business district there were less restaurants with English menus. Having said this we still found a few including Coco Ichiban (Japanese curry place), a Korean Barbecue place, Kirin Beerhouse and Shabu Collections (leaflet found at the hotel). All the other days we simply ate where we were sightseeing.

Hotel locates only 5 mins walk to the station, there are quite a no. of shops around that area, very convenience.

However, the hotel room is quite small and toilet facility a bit old.

Overall, this is a reasonable price with its location and room quality.

It is excellent.

It is excellent with a cheap price. It is clean and comfortable. If you do not mind that the room is a bit small and the hotel is quite far away from the JR station (but the subway station is very close), I strongly recommend this hotel to you.

少し部屋内の雰囲気は古く感じたが、スタッフの感じもいいし、朝食も満足。新大阪に近くてこの料金であれば問題なしです。
