the shaving mirror was hanging off the wall which make it hard to use.

Carpark view. Can pay more for higher room with better view if you want. Friendly and Helpful staff. There’s a connection to the beach via overhead bridge only accessible by hotel guests. Breakfast nice selection. No need to go early if you want. If you have to checkout early, can request the front counter to prepare breakfast to take away. Hotel is old but is well kept. Nice place. Have to use Grab to travel around but very easy and affordable.

The rooms themselves were very spacious and the pool area was very clean with comfortable loungers. Breakfast was also tasty with a good mix of western and local food.
Th reason for my 3 star review is that it is advertised as having direct access to the beach when actually it is across an over pass and tou have to scramble across boulders to reach the sand. The second point is that it is advertised as being 16 mins walk from the night market when it’s actually 45 min walk and roads are so windy with no pavement that it would not be safe to do so.
However the hotel is on a bus route which is super handy as bus to Batu Ferranghi area costs 1.40R and only takes 5 mins.

The Hilton Double Tree is a quiet and clean property with great staff located just a short 10 min drive from the busier Natu Ferringhi area. This is a great property for families with children and there are family rooms (connecting doors) available. There is a small beach across from the hotel that is quiet but suitable for beach activities.

A really mixed experience!

We booked a family stay for six people at the DoubleTree Penang and, while there were some positives, our overall experience was disappointing.
Positives:
• The complimentary family dinner offered after the first night’s incident was thoughtful and much appreciated.
• Staff were polite in their written replies and eventually tried to follow up by phone.
Concerns:
• Despite booking for six, we arrived to find only there were less towels, amenities and the sofa bed in our room had not been made up.
• We raised these issues with the front desk on the first day, yet they were still not resolved the following morning.
• Because our “actual rooms” were not ready after the first night’s incident, we had to pack and unpack more than once. This took away valuable time from our short family trip.
• When we expressed our disappointment, the initial response felt generic and failed to address the inconvenience. Only after we pushed again did the team ask what they could do to help.
The staff eventually reached out and asked how they might improve our stay, but the repeated delays and the need for us to chase basic standards left a lasting negative impression.
Overall, while individual staff members were courteous, the service and attention to detail fell well below the level we expected from a DoubleTree property. We hope management reviews their processes so future guests don’t have to go through similar disruptions.

Our stay at this hotel was nothing short of delightful. At check-in, we discovered that our reservation had inadvertently been made with breakfast for one adult and one child. The front desk staff, however, handled the matter with remarkable professionalism and courtesy, immediately rectifying the error without imposing any additional charge. This gracious gesture set a truly positive tone for the remainder of our visit.

Throughout our stay, the service was exemplary, the ambiance refined, and every detail carefully attended to. Genuine hospitality of this caliber is rare, and we are deeply appreciative of the team’s efforts in ensuring our comfort and satisfaction.

The first room that we went into was ok but very dirty and smelt like mould, did not expect that from Hilton, as the name does associate to the room standard

Then we were given a different room, good room all was nice but dirty floor, hair in fridge, main door not shutting properly, cabinet with fridge in it rotting from the legs, water dripping from ceiling due to condensation, again don’t go with the name please

The lobby and swimming pool area is amazing though.

I am really impressed with how attentive and consistent the service of all the staff was. They are always smiley, friendly and cheerful. Makes the stay a comforting one.
Location is abit off from city centre, so it is a nice place to chill and relax if your intention is to get away from crowd.

I only have 2 feedback for improvement:
1. The breakfast food is wonderful, but I feel that there can be slightly more meat options.

2. My room has a slight musky smell, and there are visible balls of dust on the wall or bed frame. The AC filter on the ceiling right outside the bathroom is choked full of dust, probably not cleaned for very long. There were times I sneezed in the room, and since I have no allergy, it must be the dusty AC causing it.
Cleanliness inside my room definitely can be better.

Overall, it is still a good stay. Thanks!

We were a few minutes early and hotel staff made us wait until exactly 3pm before we were allowed to check in. Slow WiFi unless you sign up to their club like it’s 2008. Generally pretty good hotel, but very much aimed at families. There are plenty of better hotels in the area, I likely won’t stay here again

Large and comfortable room, nice shower, room safe and everything else you would need.

I’m not sure how old the hotel is but it is just starting to feel a little dated in the rooms.

Staff were super friendly and helpful, also nice to have the pool table and a few other activities in the lobby.

We had an issue with the fridge not working in our room which they resolved straight away.

Gym was decent size and very quiet when we were here also.

It is in a bit of an odd location where you must get a Grab everywhere but they are cheap and available.

Staff very friendly got a complimentary room upgrade as we were celebrating daughters birthday and wedding anniversary. Our room main bedroom the blind in shower very dirty looked mouldy I used a towel to clean and saw that it was easy to clear housekeeping definitely dropped the ball with that. Ordered drinks at the pool. It took forever to get the drinks we were only two families at pool so not sure why it took them so long to deliver drinks

I wasn't wowed by this hotel or the dining choices but the staff was lovely, the food was good and the view from my terrace room was beautiful. the resort can use a little refresh as the furniture was a little worn and the decor a little tired. I was surprised that the mini bar remained unfilled the whole time I was there as I thought the terrace rooms included a stocked mini bar. I guess I could have complained but I just kept on thinking they would get to it. I will know better for next time.

When we arrived the entrance hall looked very impressive but unfortunately that’s where it stops! The room is dated and has chipped paint mold and marks everywhere especially in the bathroom and headboard of bed.
We then went down to the pool and the pool is not very pleasant, there is building work next door so there is a black tarp blocking it and they are doing maintenance to there bridge to the beach so you can hear that constantly! The pool was dirty and the bean bags and cushioned chairs are damp through stained and old!
The kids pool (which is what initially drew us in) has sand on the bottom of it which I don’t understand why and when my daughter went down the slides she hurt her bottom as a result! Though admittedly it didn’t stop her from playing it did put her off wanting to stay for a long time! In fact on our last day we went to a different hotel for a day pass to use there facilities as we really didn’t want to use the double tree facilities.
The one redeeming factor for the hotel was the breakfast which was very pleasant and varied if a little cold.
Other issues we had was the extreme prices at the bar. 4 drinks for 166RM was extreme for the area. Additionally we asked them to get us a taxi and were quoted 60RM which we declined as the grab app was showing 23RM! And took only 5 mins to arrive
Also our lights stopped working completely, there was quality issues with grouting in the bathroom and the air conditioning stopped workin also. Very disappointing!

Great to have a balcony. Nice to have a beach across the way. The restaurant makes a nice breakfast. Had a steak sandwich with chips that was also quite good. You can take the bus in to town. May be a bit tricky to get a grab ...depending on time of day.

I would stay again for sure.

There is a small beach right across the road (the hotel has a private footbridge providing easy access) but nothing else within walking distance - the road is very busy with no sidewalks.

Service was good, had a couple of staff who seem to have encountered many demanding guests before so their response to us was as though we had already asked many times when we were just asking the first time. But other staff were fabulous! We had issues with the door lock (had to reset a few times) and the safe was not working. However it was resolved quickly so not big an issue. They are busy in the morning so not the best time to call for help in the morning.

Personally the Best Room ever.

The staff and service were excellent. The family suite was the first time we ever got such a room. Perfect for our family of 5. Although 2 of our kids had to share a bed it was big enough for them! Definitely enough space for an extra bed if we had wanted to order it.

The room was super spacious. With a large living n dining area. Only 4 dining chairs but with a roller office chair, we could sit down as a family to meals.

We were there to chill and it was a real relaxing time. We got ocean view so sunsets were amazing.

My room came with a broken tap handle. The phone as extremely dirty. With some crumbs of dirt and the speaker was extremely smelly! I was taking a late shower as I checked in late on arrival day. And good thing the broken tap handle didn’t land on my foot. My room now is 433. When I called for house keeping, it took very long.
Despite this, The staff which help me with the check was very polite and helpful.
I love the batu Ferringhi beach area and I always love coming back to the double tree Hilton. But for this trip it was such disappointment. I hope they will be more mindful when cleaning for the next guest in future.

The room facilities are dated and not so clean. You can see black mark on the duvet and the blankets in our twin room was having moldy smell. The toilet’s wall and corner are moldy and rusty. When the room’s floor is wet, it would not dry until the next morning. The beach opposite the hotel is full of rocks and cannot swim there at all. Not a really nice location comparing to the price we paid. On the next day, we moved to another apartment in Gurney Drive which was cleaner, cheaper and much nicer

Many hotels do the mistake of putting the fridge which is overheating inside the closet, and what it does is that the refrigerator does not get cold enough. So, what I did was to put the refrigerator out of the closet so that the drinks inside could get cold enough. It is not only your hotel, but many hotels does the same mistake and it seems you dont care wether or not inside the refrigerator can get cold or not.
