Only downside was the restaurant’s bizarre ‘policy’ (apparently the chef’s decision) of trying to charge £3.50 for substituting couscous with mashed potato. According to the receptionist the following day, this has now been stopped, but unfortunately too late to avoid a sour taste at the time of the meal. But well done to the waitress for taking note of our concerns and passing them on to management

We were told prior to booking that kids could use the hot tub and the pool, but in fact they couldn’t use the hot tub, only the pool. The overall cleanliness could have been better. The bedroom was clean but the bathroom was dated and needed various repairs. The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable.
The food was ok but overpriced for what it was.
The staff were all amazing and very friendly.

The room was very dated and tired. The bathroom needed a complete overhaul and again was very tired, could hear all the noises from other guests opening and closing doors and the bed wasn’t the most comfortable. Breakfast was good though as were the grounds.

Rooms were kinda outdated, had a weird damp like smell which hits you as soon as you walk in. Staff was fine didn’t have much interaction with them, amenities were good, although the sauna and steam room were quite busy and small.

Clean room, bbc iplayer on the tv doesn't work, which begs the question why is it there at all? Noisy children next door somewhat dampened the experience. The fire alarm when off twice at 6.30am, could have done without that. Most staff were very pleasant and attentive. The food is decent, the spa treatment was excellent.

Room was perfectly spotless and great view of the gardens. Also had food in the restaurant again was outstanding. The faciluties are fantastic.

We will be back to stay would definiyely book for a spa weekend.

Beautiful hotel and grounds and enjoyed our stay.
A couple of little things that could have improved the stay was larger bath towels (bath sheets needed) and nicer toilet roll. You only got 1 and it was a cheap, small, thin toilet roll.
The breakfast was amazing, all the food was very tasty.
Reception staff could be friendlier, mistakes were made when booking breakfast and I was made to feel like it was my fault when it wasn’t in any way. No apology was offered. I was also on one occasion left to wait at reception whilst the receptionist spoke on the phone with another staff member for some time without acknowledging I was even stood there. No apology offered for my wait either.

Only one person on reception so it took some time to get booked in and the process was not completed I had to return several times to provide more information.

If your a person who suffers from DTD you would struggle to navigate you way round the hotel and its adjoin buildings.
Everything was decorated the same I had to escort my wife everywhere.
The facilities were good the location and views were wonderful. The food was poor and bland the services was not good.

The room was clean. At the pool people were wearing bath ropes. We didnt have one and I found out at the end and when I rang in the evening they said we normally charge but we will give you with good will gesture. The pool and spa facilities were amazing. Dinner we had at the restaurant unfortunately we didn’t know we had to book, they kindly accommodated us with seats but the good quality wasn’t great it came quite late and when it arrived they were quite cold not to the standard of what we paid for. Our room view wasn’t great we were given a room facing a wall without any view which was a big disappointment. I loved the located the surrounding of the hotel it was amazing.

Really nice place to stay, can literally 'feel' the history inside the older parts of the building with exposed original stonework, beams etc.

A bit pricey for food and drink, pint of Guinness and cider was £13.50.
We only had a room service sandwich each 'after hours' which came to over £30 with the associated charges!
A good sandwich, nicely presented with crisps and garnish but still, steep for a sarnie but our own fault for staying in the bar too long!

To be expected at a place with a golf course attached to it I suppose.

Great 'sports bar' as well but bizarrely closed at 19:00 every night.
TV's were still on but no staff to change channels and meant a long (ish) walk to the main bar and back.
Early close possibly because of it being 'out of season' for golf-ists.

Be prepared for many steps if you're not staying in rooms in the main building but that was part of the charm for us.

Courteous, friendly and helpful staff.
Bit slow behind the bar at times but everyone has to have a first day at some point and really not a problem if you have a bit of patience which should be shown anyway in my opinion!.

The room was nice and clean as was most of the rest of the site although a smoking shelter and more ashtrays wouldn't go amiss.

Good amenities in the room with the take-away cups included with the tea and coffee facilities being a stroke of genius!

All in all, very good and we'd stay again if we're in the area.

The journey to the room from reception was unusual! And definitely not suited to patrons with walking difficulties.
1. Either walk around the outside in all weathers, enjoying the garden views, which meant risking your life as cars sped by, all ignoring the signs asking them to drive at walking pace. Speed bumps should be installed, or larger signs, or similar deterrents to enforce this requirement.
2. or walk along multiple corridors inside, up and down many steps, before again going outside to access the room.
The food in the dining room was ok but not good. It was all brown food. Same menu every day. You need to offer 'specials of the day' to ensure some variety.
It was very noticeable that the breakfast service items were left out all through the lunch & evening service too, rather than cleared away like the food. Not a good impression, even though you have the room. Tidied away should be the order of the day.
There was no offer at any time of help with collecting luggage from the car to deliver to the room. Nor was there an option for assistance when checking out. Not even a trolley in sight.
Pleasant helpful staff in general but they all kept saying the hackneyed Americanism “Have a nice day”. This was actually unwelcome when we were off to a family funeral.
Storage in our room (112) was poor. There were very few usable drawers, only small ones with no depth at all. I had to move the 2 bibles out of the bedside cabinet in order to put my undies away.

I recently stayed at Breadsall Priory and honestly, the whole place feels tired and in need of proper investment. My room was dated, not cleaned until the last day of my stay, and to make matters worse, there was a mix-up with my key card. On the Saturday I couldn’t access my room, and when I went to reception they argued with me that it wasn’t even my room until I produced ID. Only then did they realise they’d made an error.

Service throughout was painfully slow. There seemed to be plenty of staff, but actually getting a table or even just a drink at the bar meant a long wait. The food was very hit and miss — one night my ribeye steak was excellent, the next it was overcooked, had to go back, and by the time the replacement arrived it was still overdone and I’d missed dinner with my group. I also had to send back a starter (whipped feta) which was basically just yoghurt. Some meals were acceptable, but far too inconsistent for what should be a reputable venue.

I booked into the spa and had a massage, but this was probably the worst treatment I’ve ever had. The therapist was lovely, but the treatment room was dated, the massage was cut short by around 20 minutes, and the overall quality was really poor. The spa facilities look and feel old, more liek a dr surgery than a relaxing retreat.

On the positive side, the golf courses were in good condition and enjoyable to play, but the pro shop experience wasn’t great. I found the lady in there to be rude and unwelcoming, which

Excellant location for our visit. Superb scenary being on 2 golf courses with trees, flowers and a fountain.
BUT, you offerred \" accessible rooms\", meaning wheelchair accessible. The main building didnt have a lift! Steps to the dining room. In another building, our room had extremely low WC, poor shower curtain, wardrobe door stuck and handle missing from a drawer etc.
The chicken salad meal had dry chewy chicken.

The reception staff were excellent......welcoming, polite and helpful. Check in was a breeze. The room (in the Mews) was average and smelt of marijuana. Breakfast was poor quality and average at best. The breakfast room was noisy with crying babies and kids blocking the aisles. Not a relaxing experience at all. Coffee was machine coffee, but that was actually ok. A member of the bar staff ignored us as we approached the bar, he was filling up some bottles or something, he looked up, didn't acknowledge us and continued with what he was doing, then he eventually looked up and finally mumbled something - here's a tip buddy........serve your guests first, that's what you're there for. Thankfully a more sensible young lady arrived and served us.
We will not be returning I'm afraid.

We were working in Deby and wanted a treat for the next day. Booked it for the spa and beautiful surroundings. I was very happy that we were permitted to use the facilities after the checkout as the night before was a very late finish so we didn't have dinner and was exhausted and hungry in the morning.
The breakfast spread was amazing, we had a slow morning and were very grateful for the 12 pm checkout and opportunity to relax in the spa after.

We had a wonderful 1 night stay, the perfect retreat. We arrived early, had a lovely walk through the gardens and past into a wooded area. Then we were able to use the leisure facilities until our room was ready.
The room was clean with everything we needed. We had a deluxe king riom and the bed was huge and very comfortable.
We booked for dinner in the evening and we couldn't have enjoyed the food more, it was delicious! Highly recommended the stone bass!
We had back massages the following morning which was the perfect end to our stay.
The service from start to finish was faultless, with every member of staff we met being polite and ready to help if needed.
We shall definitely return.

Fabulous grounds and beautiful old building. Very comfy bed and room. Breakfast selection was excellent. Pool and spa facilities were very good.
However bathroom cleanliness let it down - needed a bleach around the shower fittings and there was some dirt and mould on the back of the door. Also service in the afternoon at the restaurant - sat on the patio to have a drink, there was no one around and each time i wanted a drink i had to go and find a member of staff. Pool check in service was surly and could have been friendlier and pointed out where the facilities were.

Our stay was lovely. However not as relaxing / enjoyable as other Marriott’s we have stayed at. Due to:-

1. Not enough staff to service the bar. Had to wait 20 mins to order a cup of coffee and then gave up.
2. No supervision of too many children in spa causing havoc and a lot of noise.
3. No drinking cups at water station.
4. Spa area not clean / people allowed to wander in / out in shoes.
5. Showers not clean or serviced as had hair and litter in.
6. No credit card details taken at check in so couldn’t charge bar / food to room.
7. Lots of steps and no lift to so made it difficult to access all areas if have mobility issues.
8. Lots of staff seem young / inexperienced. I asked for some cups to use the one fountain in spa and was told to go into bar in my wet costume and a towel.
9. No body servicing the outside area for drinks / food.
10. Rooms were clean but lots of corridors and steps / stairs up and down to get to reception / restaurant.

Room was ok, good bed and pillows. Rubbish left in the drawers. Incredibly noisy extractor fan in the bathroom, and no soft lights, you couldn’t take a relaxing bath or shower. TV ancient - no Netflix etc.
Spa was poor. Overcrowded swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room all rammed with people. Staff there were pretty unhelpful.
Breakfast was really good though, spot on.

The place was gorgeous! The staff were helpful. We only stayed for 1 night but was a special night celebrating partners birthday, they put a balloon in the room for us and also gave a happy birthday dessert to my missus! Made it just that little more special.
The beds were comfy with good choice of pillows! View was nice also from room. Pool facilities were nice! Only downside was if wanted to sit on a bed you couldnt as people at towels on them to 'use' them even though everyone was in the pool or away.

We have stayed several times before & always like to come back. Unfortunately this time there were some issues with noise early on the Sunday morning. Doors are very loud when closing & there were children running up & down the corridor & general noise. I think where our room was located did not help. Overall stay was good but not being woken up at 7am on the Sunday morning.

Went away for my birthday. Plans were cancelled due to bad weather. Facilities brilliant. The staff went above and beyond and were amazing and made our stay even better. The food is nice but a bit expensive. The hotel is absolutely beautiful.

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting. It is an enormous building and can take four minutes to walk from one end to the other, usually up and down a lot of stairs!
Didn't realise that rooms are only made up every three days, unless you request otherwise. Disappointing for a four star hotel. Will know in future!

Very pleased with our stay. Breakfast options were very good. We had a meal on the Sunday evening which was as good as anything I've ever tasted. And really well presented. I'd like to add that the receptionist who was on duty on the Saturday afternoon when we arrived couldn't have been more helpful. Ten out of ten
