Didn’t even bother staying. Place is disgusting. If you have allergies or asthma: DO NOT BOOK!!! The place reeks. My daughter had trouble breathing. The lobby is musty, the rooms reek of decay/mold/chemicals. The rooms are not properly cleaned (found hair, fecal matter, crumbs) all over bedding/bathroom/area. It is disgusting. They will fight the refund. Pay extra and stay elsewhere!!!

We love the Austria Hof Lodge! The location is great, so close to Canyon Lodge. We parked our car and didn't drive all weekend. The bar and restaurant have a nice selection. Our dinner was delicious. Our room was really clean and everything we needed for a quick get away. We'll definitely stay here again.

The location of this hotel is the best. We walked to the ski hill. The front desk people were super nice and friendly. There was a nice little breakfast in the lobby, perfect for pre skiing. And finally, the restaurant downstairs is the best in town. If there were anything I could add, a rubber tray for removing boots in the room would prevent water from dripping on the floor.

The hotel’s proximity to the ski lifts is its strongest asset; however, the property appears to rely heavily on this advantage while investing little effort in other aspects of the guest experience. The advertised spa is dated and poorly maintained. Most concerning, the water appeared unsanitary, with a green color and an unpleasant odor present since early morning.
The restaurant benefits from being the only dining option within a wide radius, which results in significantly overpriced food. Although it attempts to present an “authentic” Austrian menu, the ingredients are low quality and the dishes seem adapted to generic American tastes. The outcome feels inconsistent—Austrian recipes lacking authenticity. Having experienced genuine Austrian cuisine in the Dolomites, the contrast is significant.
The mattresses and box springs were worn and uncomfortable. Complimentary Folgers coffee was provided, but a mid-quality option would better align with guest expectations, as the current offering detracts from the experience. The apples provided were also of low quality, with a mealy texture.
I would not book again, particularly at the rates we paid. I would instead recommend staying in the village near the gondola, which offers easier access to the slopes and better overall value.

It felt a bit outdated . Also, when we booked, it said breakfast included 11B woke up in the morning and went downstairs. There was no breakfast and also nobody of any staff was there to even talk to.
Which felt very strange. The roomix itself was clean but the whole way carpets add an unpleasant smell.

Arrived on a windy rainy snowstorm night. Our gps took us to the back of the hotel building and we had circled around the canyon hills in the dark for twenty minutes before we could find the check in desk on the 2nd floor (via wet slippery stairs). The check in area had a strong unpleasant smell on that night. And we were told our room was on the 3rd floor and no elevator available. Stressed and disappointed.

The room was clean and lovely. Loved the gas fire place. Would stay there again.

However, the check in attendant didnt say anything about bears or bear safety (which we already knew about). Our car only had muddy bear prints on the side, but another guest had their car damaged by a bear. They were foreign and had no idea about the aggressive bears in the area. I strongly suggest a flier be handed out , in multiple languages at check in and in the rooms about bear safety and how to prevent car damage (leave nothing with a scent in the vehicle).

Breakfast is healthy, but very minimal.
Room is very clean and service is excellent. However, sounds travel rather well through walls, and our neighbors had TV or something like quite loud and for a long part of the night (at least 9pm to 1am). We were too tired from hiking to complain.

We enjoyed our stay. Staff was very kind and very helpful. We had one problem when I was using the hair dryer and my friend was using the microwave the power shuts off, we went to the front desk but nobody was there and its like 6:30ish and we were in a hurry to leave so when we came back in a few hours we told the front desk and they fixed it right away(circuit breaker trip). We will definitely come back.

I had high hopes for this location. The facility is average at best. The path into the room was stained noticably dirty. I came around 2 pm because the website said we could check in early and was met by a very rude lady ask what we needed and informed me check in wasn't till 4 pm. I explained my understanding and she said based on availability and there is none. Fortunately she was gone when we checked in. The gentleman was very nice and a complete difference from the former person. The breakfast was fruit, yogurt, and bread. Definitely nothing fancy.

An old good legacy with recent disappointment.

We have long history of visiting this hotel since decade ago. We love the european chalet style building. But the more recent visit make it less to be desired. Even though got renovation inside. Carpet took out replace with hardwood floor. But the floor is sticky, dark ugly color, and didn't bother to sound proof it, leaving huge gap at front door bottom, with old/crammed rooms design, noise travels really bad. Had to put a lot towel underneath the door to block the sound out of gap. Bathroom entry way still super narrow. Not much decoration at interior, it will nice to put some european stuff on it. A/C heater unit didn't change, was very loud, hard to control the wind speed and awkwardly located. Lastly, the breakfast is not as good as before (but may be with overall trend of all USA hotels). Big nice real european like breakfast exist 10 yrs is no more even after covid left. Now just a goodie bag left for you to pick up at hallway 8am. I had to leave early, they don't even provide earlier pick up unlike the hotels in Europe. I seldom revisit a hotel many times, but I have been a faithful visitor in this hotel for years. I think after this time, I will look elsewhere. It's still a good hotel, just not as good as before.

While the price point was great, the “hotel” was actually a managed property. Front desk staff told me I could plug my car in at the property. I was awoken at 945pm by the HOA president who had called the police and a tow truck. I explained I had permission, she wasn’t having it. Because the booking was Expedia, I was given a “sorry, we’ll comp a future stay”. I have no desire to return…

Also, the room just wasn’t clean. Had jet black feet after an hour. Pet dander/hair everywhere.

Great sight seeing around the area such as Red Meadows but area is mainly geared for American skiers in the winter or summer campers if you don't have a luxury condo. Would I come again - Nope. Also you may see a bear if you are lucky. Hotel smells of Austrian Liver and Onions - yuck!

Appreciate the free breakfast also, even though it was a simple grab-n-go type, it was adequate and well organized. The hotel location was conveniently located near a trolley stop which allowed us to use the free transport to get around town.

We booked this three bedroom townhome very last minute when we decided to stay one extra day to ski. It was absolutely adorable! Like we walked into the house from the movies, the great outdoors. Beautiful views, tons of antique decor, super comfortable beds, and tons of firewood. We plan on staying here again when we head back up to Mammoth!

We were un impressed by the state of the place. We thought we were getting a hotel room by the lifts but we were directed to a mini condo located about a mile from the hotel. The bedroom was ok the rest of the place definitely outdated and not worth the price. We ended up cleaning as soon as we arrived and left a day early quite disappointed. The hotel restaurant offers good food and excellent service. The condo should not be ambiguously pegged to the hotel page and needs some remodeling.

But the 3 star price hotel itself is way long due to be completely remodeled or better demolished and rebuilt: everything super old, dirty carpets and walls, terrible mattresses and upholstery, towels smells like detergent and degrading on touch.

This is a small, older chalet up in the ski area. It is not in the Village. The free trolley does stop at the canyon lodge about 2 blocks away.
Do not stay here if you have mobility issues. There are lots of stairs,even to enter, No Elevator!
We thought we were going to have a heart attack, dragging our luggage up to the third floor in the steep, enclosed stairwell. Not to mention, we came home with Covid!!

Don't stay here unless you're ready to lug all gear up several flights of steep stairways. Yes, it's inexpensive and worked in a pinch. Not a 3-star hotel in my book. There is a bar & restaurant in the basement, so some may like that. Set against steep slope of mountain. Mammoth lift adjacent. Parking tricky on busy nights due to food establishment onsite.

Older hotel that the hot water heater didn’t work in the 1st room. Then we were moved into a second room the TV remote didn’t work. The alarm clock was broken.
But the biggest problem was the restaurant. We purchased the German dinner for 2 at a cost of $82.00 and the meal was gross. Everything was cooked in the same pan and everything tasted the same.
I would highly recommend staying somewhere else. This hotel puts a grab and go breakfast starting at 8:00 am. The small 2 cup coffee pot was dirty and still had the old coffee in it.

I would not recommend this hotel for older adults or those without young children. We had a room on the first floor where there were children running and screaming in the halls, running up and down the stairs until after ten at night. When I told the young man at the front desk about it, he said it sounds like they were just having fun. He did move us to the third floor where he guaranteed it would be quieter so we took our luggage up the three flights of stairs (no elevator) expecting to get a quiet night's sleep, however, they booked the room next door with loud children again who would looking in our window. Needless to say, our stay there was disappointing.

We had limited choices for hotel room that night so we ended up with this property. Booked it on line and choose the deluxe queen room which super small and hard to get around in. The DYI corner shower was cramped as well. Nothing in this room was deluxe. The price was ridiculously high for these accommodations. If you can’t do stairs, this place is not for you.

The carpets in the room are dirty and filthy and we saw bugs and spiders in the room and we even clicked pics and made videos.

The air conditioner was not working and we called the front desk and a nice guy came up and tried a couple of things but couldn’t figure it out. Went to dinner and came back and there was another guy working the front desk so I brought it to his attention. He came to the room and said the light switch needed to be on. Really? SMH. I told him he needed to let that first guy know so he’s aware.
