Free parking is a plus. Location to the village, restaurants, etc. was good. However, the room did not have conveniently located power outlets. Room not suitable for working. There was a table and a couple chairs but no outlet close to the table to plug in a laptop, etc. No microwave available. The lighting in the room also needs improvement. The room was not well lit except for the bathroom. The TV does not allow for app options such as Netflix, YouTube, etc.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Location is very convenient to the village and for walk out skiing. There is a cool tavern downstairs. In the winter and spring months, the outdoor pool and jacuzzi are closed. I did not use the indoor jacuzzi and sauna. Overall, very good value and I would stay here again.

The Village at Mammoth is right across the street and has a variety of shops and the Village Gondola to access Canyon Lodge lifts and trails on Mammoth. Picking up lift tickets and rentals is super easy. If you rent a demo package, stay on that floor and walk to the gondola to go skiing (no stairs required). The restaurants in the area are good; didn't do any shopping. The Village is also a nice place to walk around in the evening. They have (two?) fire pits that you can sit around and enjoy the day or evening with your friends. There are several bars and restaurants outside of the main Village area, but right next to Alpenhof, INCLUDING the bar & grill at the hotel. Been there before and will likely go back. The hotel parking is free and you don't have to mess with the traffic at the other lodges!!!

After very long days, it was really nice to have a bar/restaurant on site and the hot tub was also a nice amenity. We spent most of our time in the backcountry, but this would’ve been nice for easy access to Mammoth resort.

The hotel is close to Mammoth Village, so it's literally a 5 minute walk to your favorite eatery. The room was clean but there is no air-conditioning. You can't really open your window at night (in the summer) because there is some street noise. The fans help, but it is something to consider if you are a light sleeper.

Room and bathroom are clean. I like the many shelves to store and organize my stuff. It would be nice to have a bigger bath soap and thicker bathroom tissue. It’s too thin that when you get it wet as if it dissolves. This is an older hotel so don’t expect a card key. The room keys are the old school keys - the real keys. I don’t mind.

We enjoyed the character of this hotel, which stands out in a town full of sludge green modern buildings. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Mammoth is very expensive in general so this is a good budget option. Rooms are small but plenty of hooks to hang coats, good shower. Quiet, small fridge was a bonus. The Clocktower Cellar Bar was fantastic, popular with the locals, great range of beer, and fab pub food.

The property has an excellent whiskey bar in the basement with a pool table and games. You can order bar food also. Great place. There is a washer, dryer, pool and table and chairs situated around the property that are cleaned daily. Across the street from the Village. We felt very safe during our stay. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Internet access no problems. BTW the burger restaurant one door down from the hotel is the best.

I have one major complaint. The bed was the worst. It was hard as a rock. Very uncomfortable. Woke up all through the night. Maybe it was just the bed in Room 402.
A new hotel is being built across the parking lot and it is noisy during the day but since we weren't there during the day it didn't bother us. Construction starts around 8am and stops around 3:30pm. Quiet a night.
I would stay there again. The price was right. Maybe they will replace the beds by the fall.

Property was acceptable. Staff was appropriately polite but not overly so- no better than average. Room was clean, but could use a vacuum. Outdoor spa had hot water but there was an “Out of Order” label on the timer for the jets.

Other guests didn’t mind being noisy, but maybe that’s a Mammoth in the Summer thing.

This property is across the street from The Village, which has a small general store, lots of dining options, some shops and a few bus stops. More dining, liquor and shop options are with easy walking distance.

The property was very close to Mammoth Village, so it felt like we were within walking distance to almost everything. The property itself was also very clean, and the front desk employees were very attentive. Our only complaint was that our first room was not clean upon arrival (the toilet was used/dirty, the shower was also used with toiletries opened and out, the bed sheets were used/dirty, and the floor was dirty). However, they quickly moved us to a new room, which exceeded our expectations! Will be staying here again!

Staff at check-in was very nice and helpful. It was a young, rowdy crowd at the bar/restaurant downstairs. Food was good. The room was on the first floor, but we needed to use the stairs to get to our room. There were no elevators, and we were travelling with large luggage on our 10-day adventure through CA, so it was a struggle. No A/C in the room, so we needed to sleep with the window open. It was noisy allllll night with people coming & going from the bar. Room is in need of some renovations, it's a bit out-dated.

Unfortunately this property has gone downhill as the years have passed. They used to provide an above-average breakfast, but now none is offered at all, \"a casualty of Covid\" as we were told, which seems an outdated excuse at this point. The room we were in had paper-thin walls where we could hear the music, TV and voices of our neighbors very clearly. The room was also old and dingy, though they had updated the bed's headboard but nothing else. The Alpenhof used to be a gem amidst dreary hotel options in Mammoth, but now it's just like the rest of them, only with a better location.

Stay was ok. The dude that checked us in was by far the rudest clerk i have ever encountered. The property is quite old, and the walls are very thin, so be prepared to wake up early with everyone around you. The property is old, but clean. The best part about it is proximity to the village.

I had to stay one night at a different hotel who would not allow me store my luggage prior to checkin and Alphenhoff stored it for me even the night I didn’t stay there and then brought my ski bag to my room for me when I checked in there. The location and room were nice but the walls are paper thin. People next door just talking felt like they were in the same room. They woke me up several times. For 300-400 a night during ski season, with a minimum 4 nights stay, it’s an extreme rip off! They take advantage of the great location by the village and over charge for a pathetically built building.

Queen bed actually was a double bed. 2 of 3 pillows were like sandbags.The room was spotless and smelled very fresh! The grounds were very well groomed and up to snuff. While having little interaction with staff they were fine. Would we stay again? YES.
