A Great Night’s Sleep
I’ve been suffering serious back aches this past fortnight in Japanfrom uncomfortable beds, so you can imagine my surprised when I climbed into the top bunk at the Chisen Inn Kumamoto Miyuke and fell asleep like a baby in a cradle within minutes. The bed linen was soft and clean and comfortable despite the room stinking of cigarettes because a smoking room was all they had left when we booked. I woke up the next morning feeling rested, refreshed and without a back pain for the first time in our two week visit to Japan. The best thing about this hotel is the bed. A great night’s sleep in room 416. Cheers.

The hotel is located 5 KM away from the city centre. You must have a car to stay in this hotel. Not easy to find.The exit to the hotel is from a small exit from the expressway. Not noticable at night and if you missed the exit. You have to drive another 3KM back to the hotel as it is in the middle of the expressway. The hotel room and condition is very good.

Chisun inn is a nice branch with cleanliness. It was not a proper hotel for backpackers because it was located far from the downtown. Since we were travelling with a rental car, it was a good hotel with free parking lot. In Japan, the hotels in city center usually charge 1000-2000 yen for one night parking. But we felt that 10 o'clock check-out was early...

The Chisun hotel chain has bunk beds (in all rooms it appears) which is interesting in that 3 people can sleep quite comfortably. Otherwise, it's a \"middle of the road\" hotel with a \"business class\" level of service.

If you don't have a car, this hotel is definitely not convenient. The hotel is located on the by pass road. There is no train station near the hotel. The nearest JR station is about 25 minutes walk to the hotel. The nearest bus stop is not so near and the bus doesn't run after 5 p.m. The only convenient way to reach hotel is by taxi, which costs around 1-1,500 yen. Staff cannot speak English at all. The hotel room was fine. The bathroom is quite spacious compared to typical Japanese bathroom.

This is an out of town business hotel used largely by travelling sales people; has its own carpark beside the hotel and is on a highway into town; by car just takes about 20 mins to get into the heart of Kumamoto. Clean and simple rooms with friendly young desk staff. Very good value. They have map of local places to eat. You need a car.
