The “economy” room was not clean, very old, and the WiFi did not work “because the walls were too thick in the basement.” After speaking with the front desk, I was hesitantly moved to an upstairs room where the WiFi worked. That room was bigger and nicer but nothing close to a “nice” room. No tissues in the bathroom, shower didn’t drain well…but much nicer than the initial room. Breakfast was nice. Not a huge selection but nice.

Staff and service was wonderful. Breakfast was fresh and nice. Convenience and price really worked for me. My only feedback is that it was sort of a motel feel in terms of ambiance and facilities. This is not a luxury experience and more of a utilitarian space. Even so, I’m very happy with my stay and would recommend.

Location is fabulous in Baka - very safe and pleasant neighborhood. Attendants were very nice but not always present at the desk, which was ok for us. Breakfast is mediocre - coffee very good. Room was worn and clean but expected better after reading the reviews. Will probably try another place next time we visit

I've been coming regularly to this hotel in Jerusalem. It gives excellent value for money. I only wish that they buy a good vacuum cleaner, since every time I need to clean the dust from the shelves of the cupboard. This is a small problem, and the stay is usually very nice. Parking on the street across the street is free, the breakfast is nice, and there is a lovely promenade within 10 10-minute walk. If you arrive late (after 10pm), make sure that they give you the code from the door .

Great place for the low price for a small hotel in Jerusalem but not high end, served its purpose for a quick stay of 3 days in a cozy neighbourhood. Buffet Breakfast was amazing! Amir, the manager, was kind and helpful during the construction work on the last floor. everything was smooth and would stay again for the short term only, amidst mattress need a serious upgrade.

Great value, great location.

It’s a great location and the service is excellent. My room faced derech Hebron so you could hear street noise. My mattress could be replaced but I still slept well. Room was small and clean. Overall well worth the price.

It's not an hotel, but a Youth hostel.
Problably never refurbished or renewed since 30 years.
it doesn't worth more than 50$ per night.
No service at all, nobody stand at the lobby.
Bathroom dirty and smells bad.

The front desk person was nice when I checked in early, very pleasant. After that I was roughly asked a few times where my room was, it was slightly disconcerting but I got used to people wondering why I was in the building…
The breakfast was nice, the lady working the breakfast was very pleasant and kind.
The room was ok, I liked the small refrigerator. The bed was not too comfortable. The bathroom was large. The air conditioning was effective.
The internet was non-existent. Another guest complained also he could not connect. The desk clerk reset but to no avail, impossible to connect. It was an issue that required more than just resetting his router. For two days I could not connect to their internet service….a lifetime in the year 2023.

Some restrooms seemed not to be cleaned for weeks.
We couldn‘t use our balcony because of the curtains, that couldn‘t be removed. In the garden were rubbish and damaged furniture or something like that.
In general the bathroom was old and should be renewed.
The night wasn‘t worth it’s price .

The room was small. Minimal. Noisy. Every sound in the hallway echoed. But the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The listing said free parking. There is no parking. However there was plenty of free parking in the neighborhood. I didn’t partake in the breakfast. There are lots of lovely coffee shops nearby.

A Not-Funny Comedy of Errors!

Check-in was a nightmare of no personnel, followed by assertions that our reservation didn't include breakfast. (They eventually agreed to let us have breakfast.)

The room was clean and the bed comfortable, but the property overall was shabby. Breakfast was adequate, but not on par with other modest hotels where we've stayed.

On Saturday night, we arrived back at the hotel to find the door locked and no guests or employees in sight. (We did not have our phones with us, either, because this was immediately after the Sabbath had ended.) Finally, I called out to a couple that was strolling by, and they kindly took the time to help me phone for help. The employee who answered, who was physically at an affiliated property, said \"You mean nobody gave you the code??\" No, nobody had!

Little House in Baka is in a great neighbourhood full of cafes and nice areas to walk around. Convenient to many bus lines taking you to First Station and Old Town. Excellent water pressure in the shower. Good place to crash for a few nights if you don't plan on spending much time in the room but rather go out to explore.

Room for improvement:
- no breakfast at all at the property
- staff largely absent from the property, and when there not overly interested in helping out
- upon check-in I was told by the manager that he doesn't like the room I am in, but if I pay more he can upgrade me...the hotel wasn't full so why not upgrade anyway and give a better impression of your property?
- property could do with an upgrade/modernisation/paint job/deep clean; the photos online are somewhat misleading as it's really a bit of a 90s time capsule
- the bed was very short, and even though it was a double bed there was only a single duvet on it
- sound insulation between rooms is not great, you can easily hear conversations in the corridors and neighboring rooms
- the room was tiny; there's a desk but no space to move the chair far enough away to actually sit on it, and with more than one person this would be a pretty uncomfortable fit
- WiFi didn't reach my room at all (but it works great on the terrace in front of reception)
- like many things in Jerusalem, too expensive for what is offered

We arrived a little late and they had left a sign with the phone number to call on the front door for us. When we called we were given a code, and they stayed on the phone while we walked to our room which was ready for us with the key inside. The people were fantastic! The room was very plain, but functional for a small overnight stay before the airport. Just coffee or tea service in the morning, but there was a great restaurant just down the road called The Grand for a Great experience! And within walking distance to a Covid rapid testing site! Perfect!

The hotel is very clean and tidy, the desk staff are helpful and polite, there is a little small kitchen on each floor with fridge and microwave, tea, coffee hot water 24/7. the bedroom had a lovely bath with piping hot water.
I have returned to the hotel on numerous occasions. the only little problem is that the free wifi was very weak in the bedroom it was better in other areas of the hotel.it is in my opinion very good value for money

The room was extremely small and very basic. The bath towels had holes in then and were very thin (well worn). We could not let the bath water out the bath as there was a blockage that flooded the bathroom. Teh shower nozzle was so worn it could hardly stay in an upright position.
Breakfast was okay, but nothing special.

a few days at the little house

the room was an economy room so it was basic it could use a new coat of bright paint . bed was comfortable. the woman who was at the reception when we arrived was very helpful and friendly with a big smile. breakfast room was freezing cold need better heating there. breakfast was ok but should give an option to order eggs besides the one type that is offered. could also use a heater in the bathroom which was also quite cold.

Based on the positive reviews posted on the hotels.com website, I booked a three-night stay from 17-20 January of this year. My experience was not like those reviews.

There is no “free parking” except on the street. Baka is a residential area and, as with many areas of Jerusalem, parking is very tight. I found a spot and went to check in. Paid my NIS 1200 or so and we went to the room, an “economy” room on the lower level. We opened to the door and went in. The room smelled as if the door had not been opened in 6 months or more. Everything was worn, VERY worn. It was crowded, and the bed was lumpy, very uncomfortable. The bathroom was covered in mildew. Not very appealing.

The next morning, after a poor night’s sleep, my wife, my daughter who resides in Baka, and I considered the matter. This was not a place to spend Shabbat. I booked another hotel and we checked out. I gave a polite reason; did not want to stand there arguing with the receptionist, the same one as last night. I asked her about a refund for the unused nights; she said to take up the matter with hotels.com.
I did that. The hotels.com customer service representative told me to take the matter up with the hotel. Eventually, he told me that the hotel would refund one night. I have not seen that refund yet nor, as I mentioned, has the hotel responded to my written enquiries.

The Little House in Baka gets zero stars.

This is a great little place to stay. Breakfast is kosher, has a nice selection, and is tasty. The staff was extremely helpful. They arranged my airport transportation and did troubleshooting when they did not have room at the time I wanted. The rooms are small but extremely clean. I have stayed in half a dozen places in the Jerusalem area and this was my favorite. Worth being a 10 minute bus ride/30 minute walk to the center of town. The lock was a little hard to turn on the room...but if that is what I am complaining about that is a good sign.

If you want to stay in an old Ottoman House in the delightful suburb of Baka, then this boutique hotel is for you. Clean and tidy with pleasant bedrooms that are on the small side and friendly staff. The breakfast buffet is in the old out-house that used to be a restaurant and is reasonably large. If you want a chain hotel experience, then this place is not for you as it is not central enough, the buffet breakfast is not huge enough and the hotel is in need of some upgrading, especially in the bathrooms. The tiredness of the bathrooms is the reason why this does not get five stars. If you want something else, then come here and you will have a great stay.

Deceptive Advertising, Bait and Switch or Fraud?

For this hotel, Orbitz showed a picture of a spacious bright hotel room with a separate living room and (via the filter) listed \"free parking\" as an amenity. We booked a middle floor (at the related middle tier rate). Our first reality check was that \"free parking\" meant that some of the nearby street parking was free! In fact, there were approximately 10 of those \"free\" street spaces, in a very densely populated neighborhood. If you are lucky enough to get one of those, stay put! As for the expected \"free\" parking lot, it does not exist. Next we were led with our luggage from the middle floor/registration area to a floor down two flights of stairs to the dreary, dingy sub-basement level. When I asked for the middle floor room we paid for, the clerk said they were full, so we were stuck in the basement (but still at the mid-level rate, no adjustment offered!). Finally, our room had no separate living room, in fact, none of the rooms did!. The front desk clerk refused to contact any manager, saying that day and the next day he was \"off\", and eventually admitted that the pictures on Orbitz were from a different hotel, yet took no responsibility for their false advertising, blaming Orbitz. In fact, we never heard from any manager. One would think management should be responsible for verifying their online marketing presence. All in all, a truly disappointing experience, strongly recommend looking elsewhere!

We were very disappointed with our stay. The free parking translated to finding a spot on the street. The room was small and dark. The ceiling in our bathroom leaked and was full of paint bubbles. After a few minutes in the room we asked to be moved because of water dripping in the bathroom. They refused and said they would patch it. Did not feel sanitary. We had to climb a flight of stairs to our room and there was no offer to help us with our luggage. Breakfast was mediocre. The staff was surly. And we paid a high price per night. It was definitely not worth it.
I would never recommend this hotel and hope they improve conditions there soon.

Hotel needs renovation, pictures on line looks much better
Them in real life.
Horrible shower with cold or really hot water. Nothing in between?
Also, stuff of the hotel should be giving more attentions .
Area is lovely, but the distance from center and Jaffa
Gait is far away, them advertised.

Would stay again no question !

Atmospheric and character filled hotel. Amazingly helpful staff (e.g. reception). 20 mins walk to old city; 10 mins to First Station. Breakfast to die for! If you're a light sleeper try to get an end of corridor room as wood floors throughout and go clackety clack every time someone walks past!
