The front desk staff was outstanding. The gentleman that was at the desk when we picked up our bags to head to the airport was so knowledgeable and proud of the property that I think he should be allowed time to provide tours - they would be excellent!

The staff was great minus their 7am to 10 am breakfast. I cant eat somewhere if I show up and you tell me its going to be another 20 mins before you open. The YMCA gym is a great bonus. Just like a YMCA in US. Just add a smoothie snack bar. The location is great. The gym hours are odd. It would be nice if you could work out before the city got going. 10am to 10pm... granted people in israel work out late so i get it. But it is not cool if you are working an American schedule. But if you dont mind working out after your activities its a good deal. The elevator is a bit on the small side. The building is nice. If you are a practical person it checks a lot of boxes.

Amazing staff with clean rooms. With issues in the region tourism is down but we didn’t experience any negative impact. Beautiful historic facilities and it’s always my favorite place to stay in Jerusalem!!!

When I arrived I was told there is an extra 18% to pay. No where else was it mentioned not on expedia. The man at the desk was very unpleasant about this.
Then in the room the bed was like sleeping on a bench. Completely hard. finally in the middle of the night I realized the cheap mattress was upside down. After I nearly injured myself flipping it I could get some sleep.

For the location, building & resonable price

Beautiful historic building, in a great location.
Other pluses:
free underground parking and free use of the fabulous sports center and swimming pool. because it's such a unique building, it has a very special ambiance.

On the down side:
The room was OK but a tad shabby. In my room (229), the shower flooded the whole bathroom.
The front desk are friendly enough, though at 7.30am there was noone behind the desk.
And the elevator... there is just one, quite tiny, so make sure you leave enough time when leaving or coming back, as the wait time might be long.

Chef Jarod's breakfasts were delicious (just wish it had been included in price of staying there), beautiful grounds, lovely and helpful staff, bell tower view is the best!

Wish the chairs for the \"restaurant\" had less holes and a better introduction to the place when checking in. Rooms hangers were a bit dusty and a musky smell in room (3rd floor I guess hasn't gotten the rennovation yet).

Excellent property, but could still use some upgrading. We stayed 4 nights, and one night the air conditioning only felt like a fan, but besides that, all was good. The YMCA gym, pool, jacuzzi is a real bonus, first class facilities and can share with locals. Very convenient to walk to all. Very quiet, no traffic noise. Very quiet room. Lobby area is beautiful. Shout out to Pauline, she was a big help getting contact info for us.

We found ourselves stranded in Jerusalem when the most recent war broke out. The YMCA offered great hospitality and security while we sheltered. The grounds are beautiful, peaceful, and clean. Service was helpful, friendly, compassionate, and very capable. It was a stressful time for sure, but the staff did everything it could to make our stay comfortable. We will forever be grateful.

We stayed first 3 nights, and then 2 more because, lucky us, we were there the day of the attacks and the flights were cancelled. Hotel is nice, safe. Nicer than pictures would show you. Francis, Shehan (sorry about spelling) and manager were all very nice, helpful before and during the crisis. We were lucky to stay here during the rough time. Hotel is walking distance from the touristic part of Jerusalem (inside the walls)....10 minutes.

The hotel building is a historic cite. Absolutely beautiful. The staff very helpful any time you need anything.
Location location location! Few blocks from mamilla mall which takes you to Jaffa gate. The area is extremely safe to walk anytime of the day. A very good area to stay. The room was old, towels worn, furniture old and outdated. The hairdryer was from the 50’s or so. The room was not worth the money on third floor. It looked like a motel. That was disappointing. But it had a great view. Our stay was wonderful and we enjoyed it ;regardless of the room.
I certainly will recommend but ask for a better room.

The location is great, easy walk to Mamilla Mall and to the old city (Jaffa gate). Staff is SUPER NICE, they have EXCELLENT customer service. Free parking which is great. The only thing are the very outdated room & bathroom, they really need to update their furniture & carpet, smells pretty old. We came to this hotel 4yrs ago and everything is exactly the same. Rooms/bathroom are very outdated. Breakfast used to have more variety back then and it now seems more limited. They used to serve dinner but now only do breakfast. Other than that, staff is great and the location of the hotel is great. If they update their rooms we'd for sure come back to this hotel.

This is a fabulous place - an old, historic building in an amazing location. The staff was lovely and helpful and the beds were super comfortable. My complaint is with the room which was a bit dingy, yet could so easily be spruced up by putting better lighting in the bathroom and the bedroom (the only good light was in the entrance area), and touching up the walls in places where furniture had clearly been moved and left a mark. The bathtub should also have a guard rail as it is easy to fall if you lose your balance. To sum up, just a few minor improvements in the room would upgrade this hotel experience significantly.

Our room was on the 3rd floor which has not been remodeled like the 2nd floor has. When we arrived, there was an open Coke can in the window and some mystery brown substance on the wall at the head of the bed. We also found a sock and a bottle of shampoo under the bed. Housekeeping is in need of education regarding expectations of cleaning. Breakfast was amazing, but they didn't start serving until 7:00 so we had to miss breakfast on the day we departed, due to the need to leave for the airport at 6:00. I asked the staff if we could get a refund for our breakfast that morning since we wouldn't be able to eat it and was told no because we purchased it through Expedia. They told me to reach out to Expedia for the refund so hopefully Expedia can help.

Amazing location for old city and lovely garden. Stunning building on the outside and lobby area . Room very basic but comfy beds and good aircon. Extra bonus is a fridge and complimentary bottle of water. Access to YMCA pool it’s good for lane swimming but not the cleanest of places.
I would stay again for the price and location it’s great but go knowing it’s an older property. Breakfast differed slightly each day - you can ask for an omelette - we just didn’t know as the only thing the staff in the restaurant seemed to do was ask for a room number.
Nice touch is water and the juice machine are left in the dining area all day for guests to help themselves.

The YMCA is perfectly located, across from the King David Hotel, and close to the Old City of Jerusalem and shopping/dining areas. The building is beautiful and the rooms are charming, with some older furniture. The AC works well, too. The staff members are helpful and friendly, and they gave me several good dinner recommendations.
The best part of breakfast is the cook-to-order omelets.

We had brown water in our sinks and shower for the duration of our stay. We were out of water for the first day, followed by brown water for the remainder of our time.

We demand a response whether via a refund, or a solution. When we go on vacation we shouldn’t be facing such issues and struggles and it definitely affect our trip and experience which was poor.

The maintenance team simply let the water run and tried to convince me that the water will continue to run, and eventually be clean! Such a situation never happened.

The hotel then continuously called the room and banged on the dorm at night after we were exhausted and still facing jet lag, which resulted in us not sleeping for the rest of the night.

The following they, the hotel moved us to a smaller room, stating it is close in size.

We moved to the smaller room and found? Yet again, brown water in our bath.

This is not acceptable and we demand a response and a resolution.

The grounds are beautiful. The breakfast that was included was very good. The staff was very nice overall. I loved the gym. It had Zumba, Chinese dance, Afro dance and a sleuth of classes. The elliptical there was excellent & I didn't get to see much else. We did enjoy the pool and Jacuzzi. One negative thing is it seems that the sheets didn't seem to be changed. We were there 9 days.

The Three Arches is just a 10 minute walk from Old Jerusalem. The newly renovated deluxe rooms are worth the additional price and are a bargain compared to nearby hotels. I originally planned on staying there one night and ended up staying there three nights before and after visiting Galilee.

Disappointing on all levels and unfriendly

This was a hugely disappointing stay in a beautiful setting made all the worse because it was our honeymoon and we decided to stay for 4 nights.
We had notified the hotel ahead of our stay and also requested their best room as I was a hotels.com gold member. This made no difference and there was no acknowledgement of the request before or during check-in.
At check in, the welcome was non-existent and could be described as disinterested. We went to our room and it was possibly the worst in the hotel with lots of ventilation noise and just one window. Upon notifying the reception there was no apology just an accusation that I must be a light sleeper! Totally unacceptable behaviour.
I was then given another room which was marginally better but in a worse condition with flaking paint thoughout and no headboard to the bed.
At night, the fridge was extremely noisy and the bed was uncomfortable, while the curtains let in light.
The breakfast service was equally unfriendly with incidences of staff on mobile phones blocking doorways causing drinks to be spilled, while others failed to clean areas despite a manager telling them too.
At check out we spoke with the manager which was helpful but too late to salvage our honeymoon break and there was no offer of a refund. We left feeling that perhaps the poor treatment was because we were a gay couple. We hope that this isn't the case.

Beautiful hotel and relatively cheap but staff was sorta rude and not too friendly. Front desk when we arrived said a room was downgraded because original room booked had a water leak. No concession was made for this inconvenience. The rooms were basic but clean. The building exterior and yard and Libby was really beautiful and amazing. Rooms are very basic tho.

The lobby and architecture of the YMCA building and the grounds are beautiful. The pool and fitness center were great. But the room was a real disappointment. For the price I paid, this didn't seem like a hotel room but rather like a youth hostel. The bed was uncomfortable. The pillows were hard--my neck hurt and when I requested a soft, down pillow I got two tiny, hard pillows. The shower didn't work well. Overall, the room was shabby and uncomfortable.

Beautiful historic hotel. Quiet and in a great location. However, the restaurant is no longer open for dinner, which makes staying here a challenge. Especially during Shabbat when there is very little open. (There are things open but certainly a walk and after a long day of traveling or when new to Jerusalem not easy to find). The breakfast is good but food is gone pretty early. The quite small breakfast team (it often looked like one person) is understandably overwhelmed with restocking the food. There is an egg station (never advertised) and you have to catch the poor one guy working there to get him to make you an egg (if you are willing to add to his workload). Rooms are small but clean. Beds have the smallest lumpy pillows = really uncomfortable. The small but modern shower leaks all over the bathroom floor so be prepared to dedicate some of your towels to mopping up. Water bottle provided the first day but not after that which is unusual in a hotel at this level. Granted its cheaper than the King David, but this hotel is still priced in what should be a good city/business hotel. Really not at that level. Front desk staff were sometimes helpful and sometimes wildly inaccurate with their information (concerning given the turmoil in the country right now).

The Jerusalem Y , inside and out, is the most beautiful building in Jerusalem. The tower is accessible to guests, day and night. The YMCA gym is also accessible to guests. The breakfast is not elaborate but is wholesome and filling. We only had limited contact with the hotel staff but when we did, we found that knowledgeable and helpful.

Would not stay here again

The gate locked so taxis can’t drop you off or pick you up at the door is an appropriate foreboding.
The building is beautiful, but can be visited without a hotel stay.
Heating system is antiquated and does not function well. In room “thermostat” did not work other than to turn the heat on and off, which means too hot or too cold at all times. Air filters also need to be replaced because my travel air filter was operating on high 24/7, while there.
There is a pool in the next building, but it is only lap swim, there are no towels, and other requirements the front desk does not indicate.
Beds and rooms: think dorm from the first half of the 20th century.
I appreciated a silverfish falling from the ceiling, onto my leg.
Breakfast is not refreshed, meaning if you arrive at 0900 (it is open from 7-10) and bread or eggs are gone, too bad, so sad.
And to finish the stay, the hotel arranged our ride to the airport; the driver tried to hustle me for 50 more shekels when we arrived at the terminal.

Excellent, clean, spacious hotel a notch below the very top and 5-6 x as expensive hotels that surround it. Why pay those prices? Directly opposite the King David and walking distance to the Old City. Majestic building. Yes there were Jews here, even orthodox.
Great value. Would definitely stay again. Breakfasts are just adequate. Staff is very friendly.

The exterior of the building is magnificent.
If you like sports there is an spectacular olympic swimming pool and a very complete gym.
The staff is super friendly and they really care the guests to be comfortable.
In addition is super clean an excellent location.

The hotel itself is beautiful. The staff are some of the most helpful people you will find. The only issue I had was the rooms are definitely dates. I know the hotel is old which is paet of the charm, but the rooms are 70s or 80s.

Great Location

Hotel was in a great location. We walked most everywhere -- it was near the Jaffa Gate. Lobby was spacious. Staff was helpful. Rooms was clean and adequate. When we travel, we are rarely in our rooms, so we don't need the fanciest hotel. It wasn't the fanciest room, but it was clean and functional. This was the first hotel I've ever been to that kept their promise to not re-wash the towels when we hung them up. I liked that eco-consciousness. We purchased the breakfast once, and it was very good. We felt it was too expensive to have it daily, and at that price, we'd probably eat way more than we wanted to so as to feel we got our money's worth. Maybe it would hav been cheaper if we had purchased it in advance through Hotels.com. Overall, highly recommend if you don't need fancy.

If amenities don’t matter

Property is very run down but location is good and price is far below other hotels in the area. TV has NO reception. Breakfast buffet was sad: soggy salads, dry bread, weak coffee.

There's a unique ambiance in an institution historically devoted to peace---it was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. The hotel also has a great location close to the old city.
